SLP Sensor Modbus RTU issue when used with RPC or Automation Server

Issue SLP Sensor Modbus RTU issue when used with RPC or AS Communication errors are seen during normal Values are updated very slowly, can take up to two minutes to populate/update the 15 objects within the SLP.   Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Modbus RTU RPC Modbus Automation Server + Premium  SLP SpaceLogic Sensors LSA_APP_REV2.03.19 and REV2.05.21 Cause Once the Modbus communication is set up between RPC (or AS) and the SLP,  although the values updates fairly regularly, multiple communication errors are also seen The SLP read speed needs to regulated to prevent overwhelming it The SLP Modbus transmission voltage is less than the AS Resolution Use with RP-C SLP struggles to respond to every request from the RP-C, changing the baud rate to 9600/19200 and increasing the "Silence characters" in the interface to 255 (maximum possible) should stabilize the communications.  The character spacing cannot be adjusted enough in the RP-C to allow communication at 38400 or 76800 Use with AS/AS-P  Adjust the “Poll point delay” in the Modbus Interface to 80ms The Silence characters and Transmit guard bits may also need to be increased Baud rate up to 38400 has been tested.

BACnet device Instance Number (Instance ID) in EcoStruxure Building Operation

Issue Finding the rules governing the BACnet device Instance ID in EBO and learning to change it if required. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Automation Server Premium Building Operation Automation Server Bundled  Cause The BACnet device Instance ID must be unique within a BACnet system. There may be a need to find out or change the device Instance ID to ensure there are not duplicates.  Resolution When a BACnet Interface is added to an SmartX server, AS or ES, the Server will become a BACnet device and it will have an Instance ID (automatically generated or manually assigned).  To check an ES or AS BACnet device instance ID go to the properties of the BACnet Interface and then the Advanced tab. The device instance ID is defined as the Object ID. To check other BACnet device, SmartX controller or 3rd party BACnet device, go to the properties of the BACnet Device and then the Advanced tab. The device instance ID once again is defined as the Object ID.  No 2 BACnet devices in any system may have the same Instance ID/Object ID. The valid range of Instance Numbers for a BACnet device is 0 to 4194302.   Change BACnet Device ID: You can change BACnet device IDs for SmartX Server or Controller when there is a conflict with another BACnet device, move controller or in those situations where you need to change the originally selected value for some local or site-specific reason. In EBO V3.2.3 or higher (except V3.3), it is possible to change BACnet Device ID of an SmartX server (ES, AS-P or AS-B), as explained in: Changing the BACnet Device ID in a SmartX Server To change SmartX IP Controller BACnet device ID, follow: Changing a BACnet/IP Device ID

Disable "Dynamic DNS" in Device Administrator

Issue "Ethernet 1 Configuration" of a SmartX Server in the Device Administrator for EBO version 3.2.1 or higher shows "Dynamic DNS" as enabled and grayed out. Is it possible to disable "Dynamic DNS"? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Automation Server Premium version 3.2.1 or higher Cause The Dynamic DNS service procedure supports the assignment of dynamic IP addresses to a particular domain. A comparison with the internet provider's DNS databases takes place automatically. The Dynamic DNS automatically ensures that changes to the IP address are detected and DNS entries are updated accordingly. Resolution In EBO version 3.2.1 or higher it will not be possible to disable Dynamic DNS, it will always be enabled.

External binding to temperature input shows incorrect value

Issue A temperature input on one device is referenced in an external binding, e.g. a consumer value, in another (BACnet) device. The value on the consumer side is incorrect and seems to have been converted from Fahrenheit to Celsius although the units all show Fahrenheit. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Workstation Building Operation Automation Server (Premium) Building Operation Enterprise Server / Enterprise Central BACnet Device(s) supporting external binding (e.g. MP-X or IP-IO) Cause The probable cause is that the value of the temperature input is not configured to a specific unit. This means that the unit is decided by the electrical type of the thermistor. In most cases this is Temperature °C, which means that the values are stored in °C, and this is the value being transferred in the consumer binding. If the measurement system in Workstation is set to United States Customary Units (US), the input value will be displayed in Fahrenheit (°F) and one might think that the unit of the temperature input value is also configured to Fahrenheit, when in reality it is in Celsius. In this situation the value on the consumer side is in Celsius as it has no information about units. Furthermore, if the consumer value unit is configured to Fahrenheit, then we have the situation shown in the screenshot above. Resolution Start by changing measurement system in Workstation to As configured in object. (Refer to the Webhelp for more information about how to do this.) By doing this the values will be displayed unconverted. It is now clear that the temperature input in reality is in Celsius. The next step is to configure the input unit to Fahrenheit. Open up Properties for the Temperature input and click the gear wheel next to Value to configure. Check the box to the left of Unit and click the button with the three dots to the right. Select °F and click Select Click OK to confirm the changes in both open windows. Both the temperature input and the consumer value will now be displaying the correct value in Fahrenheit.

BACnet Object binding options using priorities

Issue How to bind BACnet Objects with Priority Levels Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Building Operation BACnet MPX, RPC, MPC Cause Servers (ES, AS) and other native devices (MPX, RPC) have slightly differing binding options. EcoStruxure Building Operation BACnet binding offers many options and the information below gives an example of how it can be achieved, it is not the only method. Resolution When binding between BACnet objects in EcoStruxure Building Operation (either external or within the device) it is usually better to utilize the BACnet Priority based control, often this facility is not fully exploited. Object Force and Overrides will use set priorities as in the BACnet Interface setting for the site (see System/Interface Manager/BACnet), the defaults are below. The example below shows a simple bind from a BACnet Schedule-value to a BACnet Binary-value Priority 16 (or other priority as required, as binding at Priority 16 can interfere with simple manual overrides). A BACnet datetime_value has no Priority array, so if you bind, for example, from a "BACnet Schedule Next transition" to "BACnet datetime_value Value" the bind to a Priority cannot be achieved, as below. In addition, the MPX & RPC have some constraints that Servers do not have. If you bind "Transfer Value to" an Object Value Property (rather than a Priority) then further bindings "Transfer Value to" binding to a Priority is inhibited. The screenshot below shows the error that is seen. This promotes using Priorities to control BACnet Objects.
