Access Expert Power Failure and Tamper Alarms on Downstream Devices

Issue There is an alarm showing after adding a downstream controller Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert Hosted V3 Warning Hazard of Electric Shock: Remove all power from all devices before removing any covers or doors of the system. Disconnect power at the device and at the power source. Electrostatic Discharge Required: Always discharge static electricity from your person by touching metal prior to handling any hardware. Failure to do so may result in damage to devices. Cause Instructions needed to eliminate the power failure and  tamper alarms showing on newly added downstream devices Resolution When adding downstream devices, for example, An MR50, MR52 or MR16In/Out to an SSC, EP1501 or EP1502 controller, an alarm may show in the hardware tree. To get the controller out of this state, the following steps need to be taken: a. Locate the terminal block(TB) on the panel which contains the connections for CT (Cabinet Tamper) and BA (Power Fault) Note: You may need to consult the specific controller documentation since the TB#  with these connections are different on each board. It will look similar to the following: b. Remove the connector Cut two small pieces of wire, one for each Alarm Use the 2 wires to jumper each connection (CT and BA) to create a closed circuit. This assumes these contacts are not being used for their usual purpose. No resistors are required Place the connector back on the board The downstream devices no longer show alarms for the respective addresses.

Conversion of Continuum devices from i2 to b3 and vice-versa in the field

Issue Continuum i2 and b3 field devices use the same hardware. With the exception of their -V models and the bCX (bCX9640/bCX4040) controller, they were not designed to have their firmware swapped from Infinet to BACnet (or BACnet to Infinet) in the field. Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Continuum i2 Controllers (except -V) Continuum b3 Controller (except -V) Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause With the exception of the -V controllers, the devices were not designed to have their protocol (Infinet/BACnet) swapped in the field, however, due to changes in market needs R&D is now providing a method to allow the protocol to be changed in the field. Resolution IMPORTANT: If a RoamIO2 is available, it can be used to do the conversion without the need to have Continuum Cyberstation and Continuum controllers. https://community.se.com/t5/Building-Automation-Knowledge/Conversion-of-Continuum-devices-from-i2-to-b3-and-vice-versa-in/ta-p/448337    To convert i2 field devices into b3 BACnet (or vice-versa) from CyberStation Contact PSS and request the conversion files for the specific model(s) you wish to convert. Follow the procedure detailed below or as per the attached document. To swap the firmware of any non -V i2 device from one protocol to the other (in this case, from Infinet to BACnet b3), you use the following procedure.  For more information, see section 1.3 “Converting Infinet i2 Field Devices to BACnet b3 Devices from CyberStation” below. NOTE: This procedure was developed by Schneider Electric’s R&D and tested in the Product Support Services (PSS) lab.   Before starting the procedure, you need the following items: An I2 device(s) to be converted. A Continuum CyberStation with i2 device(s) configured and online. A special, conversion b3 upgrade file for the appropriate device model as provided by PSS A b3 bootloader file for the appropriate device model, provided by PSS Physical access to the device.  You need this to push its Restart switch or to access the switch or breaker where you can shut off power to the device to force a restart. A bCX4040 controller configured in CyberStation xP Expansion I/O Note If the device to be converted from i2 to b3 has any expansion modules attached, make sure the modules do not exceed the power capacity of the expansion port (180 mA), it has been observed that the b3 devices adhere more strictly to the 180 mA limit than the i2 devices, resulting in loss of operation on IO channels located on the Expansion Port if the power limit is exceeded.  See attached xP Expansion IO Datasheet for information on power consumption of each xP IO module.   1.2 Preparing the Field Bus for the i2 to b3 Device Conversion To ensure a smooth conversion, it is necessary that you reduce the traffic on the field bus as much as possible in order to provide the necessary bandwidth to the upgrade operations required for the conversion. Before starting the process with the conversion file, be sure to follow these instructions.    To prepare the field bus for the i2 to b3 device conversion Disable all the programs in all the devices residing in the field bus. Close all Continuum Workstations except the one performing the upgrade. In the Workstation performing the upgrade, close all graphics, List views, and anything else that could be polling data from the field bus. Make sure MS/TP field bus is on same baud rate as Infinet field bus, mainly 19.2K 1.3 Converting i2 Field Devices into b3 BACnet from CyberStation You can convert Infinet i2 field devices into b3 BACnet field devices by swapping the firmware of any non -V model i2 device. IMPORTANT: When using this procedure, be aware of the following guidelines: It applies ONLY to the firmware or communication protocol (Infinet or BACnet) of the device. It does not convert the control application in the device. Following conversion, the device’s memory is cleared, so you need to configure a new control application. It may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning, ensure that all important data is backed up in the event of data loss or the device losing its application and becoming non-operational.  For more information, see section 1.1 “Introduction” above. To convert i2 field devices into b3 BACnet from CyberStation Contact PSS and request the conversion files for the specific model(s) you wish to convert. You will be provided with an application file (namely, i2920toB3920B4.500077.upd) and a boot loader file (namely, B3920BootB4.500077.upd). From CyberStation, edit the i2 device and record its Serial Number and Infinet id. Consult the General tab to locate this information. From the Runtime tab, perform a Reset to clear the device’s database. Upgrade the i2 device using the application file provided by PSS. Once the upgrade is complete, the i2 device stays Offline since its communication protocol has now been swapped from Infinet to BACnet. Disconnect the device from the Infinet field bus of its host master controller (for example, a CX9680 or a bCX9640). Connect it to the bCX4040 MS/TP field bus. (MAKE SURE MS/TP FIELD BUS IS RUNNING AT SAME BAUD AS INFINET FIELD BUS DEVICE WAS ON, NAMELY 19.2K BAUD) In the bCX4040, configure a b3 device using the appropriate model as well the Serial Number and ID recorded previously. NOTE: You will need to provide BACnet Device ID. Typically, it will be the same as the Serial Number. You can also use a Learn to bring the device online under the bCX4040 and automatically assign the model, id etc.  Refer to this Knowledge Base article on using the serial number for the Device ID.  Remember here to set the Comm Port for comm2. Restart the device either by power cycling or using the restart button. The device will come online under the bCX4040 as a b3 device. Perform an Update b3 OS operation to send the appropriate b3 boot loader file provided by PSS. Go to the Runtime tab, and reset the device once the update is finished. Once the device reboots and comes back online, you can confirm it has the right boot loader by looking at the device from the BACnet side. The screenshots that follow display the before and after results of the i2 to b3 conversion process. Before: After: NOTE 1 If Continuum system is not available it is also possible to convert i2 to b3 using RoamIO and EBO server using the following steps Disconnect device from field bus and connect RoamIO directly to i2 device. Use InfinetServiceTool to send the application conversion file to the i2 device. After the uprev operation is done disconnect RoamIO and cycle power to the i2 device Connect converted device (now a b3) to MSTP of AS-P or other EBO server that supports BACnet MSTP Perform a b3 learn operation to bring the device online Right click the b3 device and proveed to 'Device->Update firmware...' Navigate to appropriate boot loader file for the b3 model After uprev of boot loader is complete, cycle power to the b3 device. NOTE 2 Similar steps can be used to convert b3 device to i2 device. Make sure to use the V2 version of the b3 to i2 conversion files as it was found the original set of b3 to i2 conversion files did not work in some cases. Please note that once a b3 device has been converted to i2 using this procedure the device will ONLY accept conversion uprev files, attempt to uprev using regular uprev file will result in the following error:   This Uprev file does not match this type of controller. This applies to b3 to i2 conversion only, it does not apply to i2 to b3 conversion.

Security Expert: Unable to generate list of Users of Active Directory's Sub-Domain

Issue Note: To enable Windows Authentication login in Security Expert, the following are required:   SX-AD-USR: Active Directory User Integration License. During Security Expert installation, "Enable Windows Authentication on Data Service / Client Communications" must be enabled. In Security Expert Client: enable "Use Windows Authentication" Found in Global | Operators| Configuration section. A site has the domain abc.xyz.com (Where ABC is the domain and XYZ is the sub-domain) When Windows Authentication is enabled, users on the sub-domain (i.e: XYZ\username) are not visible in AD Search (found in  Security ExpertX Client: Global | Operators| Username field| ellipsis [...]). Because of this, It is not possible to directly connect operators with AD sub-domain users. Product Line EcoStruxure Security Expert Environment Security Expert Server Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause This is an Active Directory design. The Search feature for Active Directory users will have the same visibility as the machine it's installed on. (In this case, the machine was joined to the ABC domain and this is the domain Security Expert is able to pull information from). XYZ Sub-domain users might have permission to access the ABC domain but they are not on the domain. Therefore, Security Expert can't search for them. Resolution Security Expert, the machines and the users must be on the same domain: Solution 1: Manually adjust the domain on the login page ex: "XYZ\username" The XYZ sub-domain users must have ABC privileges.   Solution 2: Create duplicate users on the ABC domain This is a temporary solution because you will be left with duplicate users   Solution 3:  Change the domain structure in Active Directory to match the users, workstations and Security Expert client/server on the same domain

How to allow double badge access functionality to Individuals

Issue Customer requires the functionality for Individuals  to double badge (present their credentials twice) to gain access. Product Line TAC INET Environment Access Control Warning This article describes a feature that is not standard functionality within the Product Line.  It has been provided to allow customers the option to use this requirement.  Pay particular attention to the Prerequisites of the required programming. Cause Customer application requirement Resolution Prerequisites: LIMITATIONS: As this is not a standard access control feature within I/NET, it uses custom programming, which therefore reduces/limits the standard features within I/NET The description provided below must be set for ALL individuals with access to the door that requires double badging.  It does NOT cater to custom individual use.  It may be possible to provide additional programming to achieve this, but this is not detailed in this article. Door Automatic Time Schedules (ATS), if applied, can be overridden if the door reader is badged during the scheduled operation.  The functionality of this feature uses event-driven programming, which in its nature is single-shot programming and therefore relies on the following:  Requires reliable communication between SLI/MCI (779x) and the SCU (Door Controller).  The door reads from the SCU must be received by the SLI/MCI to activate the badge/read occurrence. Requires SLI/MCI (779x) CPU loading below 65%. LAN Load of this controller should be below 2%; anything above this can cause the operation to fail/be inconsistent.  Removes the standalone capability of the Door controller (SCU) POINTS The points required for each door that requires this functionality are Door Reader (Internal DO door point as required in I/NET)  Door Strike (External DO Point) must be programmed within the controller Door Intermediate (Internal DO Point). :: Scan Rate 1 second Door Read Count (Internal AO Point). :: Scan Rate 1 second I/NET Controller SummaryI/NET Controller Summary Note: The address order, as shown in the screenshot above, is important for the overall operation.   That is Read Count must be at a lower address than all other points.  Next the Intermediate point.  The Strike and Reader addresses are fixed by I/NET but must be at a HIGHER address than the Read count and Intermediate points.    DOOR Intercard Interval (sec) should be set as low as possible.  This allows the card to be present within this time setting (minimum is 1 second) Door strike: Configuration of the door/reader must have this set to either. None: When a valid read is received, no action is sent to the strike Exit: Only when an Exit read to Request to exit (REX) is received by the door does it activate the strike.  Strike duration (sec): Should be set 1 second above the scan rate of the Intermediate / Read Count points above.  In this case, it is set to 2 seconds.  Note: this does not have any bearing on how long the strike remains "unlocked" Door editorDoor editor Programming DOOR No additional programming is required for the door apart from the details provided in the above prerequisites.  ACCESS INITIATED CONTROL (AIC) Add an AIC that will trigger the Intermediate point on a "valid" reader entry for the nominated door. Select the Target point (DR1 Intermediate) Select either Use all individuals in the range which will trigger this action for all individuals.  Note: If selected Individuals are needed to activate this feature, then additional programming is required and not detailed in this article.    Select Reader entry to START the target point  Select which Doors are to trigger this action Access Initiated Control editorAccess Initiated Control editor POINTS From the screenshots below, it can be seen that: Point DR1 Read Count has two extensions: Calculation (C)  Operation: The result of this calculation is displayed on the DR1 Read Count point.  The calculation adds the value of itself (P0) DR1 Read Count and point (P1) DR1 Intermediate point (where 0=OFF 1=ON), the result of which is then multiplied by the NOT (~) the value of (P2) Door Strike (where sec = 0 Unlk = 1). Result: DR1 Read Count is incremented by one on each valid read.  The counter is reset (zeroed) when the Door Strike is energized.        Event Definition (EV)   Operation: When the point DR1 Read Count crosses the value 1 (the value of 2 represents the double (2) badge), Sequence/Action #1 is triggered.  From the above Event Definition (EV), this runs Sequence/Action Num 1, which is shown below:  Operation: When triggered by the (EV) above, the Door Strike is immediately "Stop"  (Unlocked); after a 5-second delay, the Door Strike is "Start" (secured). Note: The delay of 5 seconds on line #2 determines how long the strike remains in the unlocked state.  Modifying this value will shorten or extend the unlocked state.     Point DR1 Intermediate has only one extension: Calculation (C)  SUMMARY OPERATION A valid card read is presented to the reader; this triggers AIC to turn point DR1 Intermediate to ON. This increments DR1 Read Count by 1 to the value of 1 via its Calculation (C) extension The additional card read repeats Steps 1 and 2 above;  DR1 Read Count value increments to a value of 2. Event Defintin (EV) high-value crossing (>1) triggers Event Sequence #1 Event Sequence #1 unlocks Door Strike 1 and, after a 5-second delay, relocks (secures) Door Strike 1 point. This relock (secure) of Door Strike 1 zeros the DR1 Read Count value via its Calculation (C) extension.  ATTACHMENTS - for reference showing the above details  I/NET Controller SAV file (DCU0201.zip) Backup InetDb (SQL.bak).  (InetDb_DoubleBadge.zip)

Security Expert functionality starts to degrade

Issue Seeing multiple losses of functionality starting to occur, such as controllers going offline, browsing with the client being slow, reports failing to run and events not being logged. Product Line EcoStruxure Security Expert Environment Security Expert SQL Server Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause In SQL Server the SecurityExpertEvents database has a very large LOG file ( hundreds of gigabytes) resulting in degraded performance in SQL and Security Expert.   The Recovery model of the SecurityExpertEvents database is set to FULL and the database has not been maintained. When using the Full recovery model, regular backups of the transaction log should be performed to prevent the transaction log file size from growing out of proportion to the database size. Recovery model fullRecovery model full New user databases are created with the same recovery model as the model database. The default recovery model for the model database depends on the edition of SQL Server you have installed. Editions targeted at test and development environments (SQL Server Express) set the recovery model of the model database to SIMPLE. Other editions set the recovery model of the model database to FULL. Resolution Reduce the size of the log file and prevent it from getting too large again by changing the recovery model of the database from FULL to SIMPLE. The databases are then shrunk to free up drive space.   Refer to the following steps: Take a backup of both the SecurityExpert and SecurityExpertEvents databases and store them in a safe location Change the Recovery Model of the SecurityExpertEvents database from Full to Simple in SQL Server Management Studio. To do this, right-click on the SecurityExpertEvents database and go to its properties. Select 'Options'. Change the Recovery Model setting to Simple. Recovery model simpleRecovery model simple Right-click on the SecurityExpertEvents database and select Tasks > Shrink > Files Shrink filesShrink files In the Shrink File - SecurityExpertEvents window, change the File type to Log. Shrink log fileShrink log file Click OK Repeat steps 2-5 for the SecurityExpert database   It is recommended that regular scheduled backups be configured when using the SIMPLE recovery model. In SIMPLE recovery mode, changes since the most recent backup are unprotected.

Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Environment Access Expert V3 Hosted LDAP agent installed OnPrem on-site server (Not the appliance installed by Feenics) Cause LDAP agent cannot connect because the Username/PW may be stored in a registry that is no longer valid Resolution Double-check the site setup documentation records that the Username/PW combination is correct Run the SEQ Log and see if there's an entry that indicates that the 'Ldap agent is not able to connect to the instance' Note: Earlier versions of the LDAP on-site installer did not remove all registry entries including username/pw, so an older username/pw combination may be used instead of an updated combination.  If the username or password was changed at some point or if alternate combinations were used for troubleshooting then an incorrect combination could be used by the LDAP agent to connect to the instance and it cannot. Check the login to Access Expert with one of the LDAP username/password combinations and if there are 2 (Users) listed in Access Expert, delete the username/pw combination that does not work in Access Expert. Conversion of Continuum devices from i2 to b3 (and vice-versa) in the field using RoamIO

Issue Currently, a procedure exists to do conversion of i2 to b3 and vice versa using Continuum Cyberstation and NetControllers.   However, it is much simpler to do the conversion using the RoamIO and the Infinet/BACnet Service Tools. Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Continuum i2 Controllers (except -V) Continuum b3 Controller (except -V) Warning Electrostatic Discharge Required: Always discharge static electricity from your person by touching metal prior to handling any hardware. Failure to do so may result in damage to devices. Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause This article describes an alternate and simplified conversion method to the original procedure published to convert i2 to b3. Before using this procedure, read the Conversion of Continuum devices from i2 to b3 and vice-versa in the field Knowledge Base article in its entirety for important information about converting i2/b3 controllers in the field.  Resolution Before starting the procedure, you need the following items: The device to be converted. The serial number of the device to be converted. A RoamIO2 configured to communicate with your PC via Bluetooth and the Infinet and BACnet Service Tools A special, firmware application upgrade file for the appropriate device model as provided by Product Support A bootloader file for the appropriate device model, provided by Product Support To convert i2 field devices into b3 BACnet using RoamIO2 Contact Product Support and request the conversion files for the specific model(s) you wish to convert. You will be provided with an application file (e.g. i2920toB3920B4.500077.upd) and a boot loader file (e.g. B3920BootB4.500077.upd) for each model you are converting. Connect the RoamIO2 directly to the i2 device (make sure device is disconnected from field bus) Launch the InfinetServiceToolPC.exe (attached) and click on the connect icon Once the device shows up on the tree, right click on it then select 'Uprev firmware...' Send the conversion application file provided by Product Support Once the uprev operation is complete, click the connect icon to disconnect the Infinet Service Tool from the i2 device then close the InfinetServiceTool app. Cycle power to the RoamIO2 then start the BACnet Service Tool In the BACnet Service Tool, de-select View by networks, then click the connect icon, the conversion from i2 to a b3 causes the device to default to baud 38400 and an invalid BACnet master MAC id, so upon connection the following error will be shown... Click 'Yes' to continue From the 'Tools' menu select 'Set b3 baud rate' and set it to Baud38400  From the 'Tools' menu select 'Set offline b3 MAC id' and enter the serial number of the device and a valid MAC id then click on 'Apply' If the baud and MAC id have been set successfully, the device will automatically pop up in the tree but it will only be partially online, to bring the device fully online, click the red disconnect icon on the BACnet Service Tool to disconnect from the device, wait about 30 seconds then  click the now green connect icon to reconnect the BACnet Service Tool to the device Right click on the device then select 'Update OS', send it the appropriate boot loader file provided by Product Support Once the uprev of the boot loader has completed, select the device and click on 'Cold start device' After the device re-start, click on the device in the tree and select 'Switch view', confirm the firmware and boot loader versions are correct. (you may need to do a refresh from the 'Tools' menu)
