While setting this format, a "-1 as a facility code" will show when expanding access denied events while presenting a card in Live Monitoring. This is expected. In Live monitoring the encoded card number is shown. Type the card number into Notepad Copy the card number into the User's Card Assignments> Encoded Card Number field and Save.  Repeat for each cardholder and Test

Issue Before installing Access Expert on premise server software, the Mongo DB must be installed and the Mongo service started, this requires creation and editing of a configuration file where the data and log directories are specified. There have been many cases of YAML errors seen during V3 on premise installation when attempting to start the Mongo service. Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment V3 Mongo DB Cause The YAML parser that reads the "mongod.cfg" file is very sensitive to the format of the configuration file including some very strict rules about spaces, double quotes and back slashes. When editing the file, it helps to setup the text editor to display ALL characters which will show any hidden characters that might be causing a parsing error. Ex. In Notepad++: Select View>Show Symbol> Show All Characters Resolution Space is needed between key and value pair. Enclose paths in double quotes. Double back slash required in Windows systems.

Issue Access Expert On-Premise setup needs procedures and tools to backup and restore the database Product Line Access Expert Environment Access Expert Premise Software V3 MongoDB Cause The procedures for backing up and restoring the MongoDB is documented online at the link below. https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/backup-and-restore-tools/ However, these instructions do not outline how to use the commands (mongodump and mongorestore) within the Windows OS environment using specific examples. Resolution The following procedures are designed to fill in the gap for Access Expert administrators who need to do manual MongoDB Backup and Restore. These procedures assume that Access Expert V3 has been installed and is functioning normally. You will need 2 separate Command Prompts, run as Administrator, open for these procedures. Mongo DOS Shell to attach to and run commands within MongoDB environment Standard DOS Shell to run the Mongo backup and restore commands MongoDB Backup Ensure MongoDB service is running (Start> Run> services.msc) Open a Command Prompt as Administrator (referred to as the Mongo DOS Shell) Type mongo(command) Type show dbs (command) - shown above, to give a list of the dbs available) If the MongoDB service is "Running," but the client cannot connect when typing mongo, it's probably because the path to the mongo bin folder hasn't been added to the PC's environment.   Issue When attempting to add a downstream device to an SSC the error "exception of type \'Feenics.Keep.DomainModel.KeepException\' was thrown" Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment  Access Expert V3 Cause The SSC has a limitation of 32 downstream devices no matter what port(s) are being used either RS485 or virtual.  Resolution The SSC specification data sheet indicates the SSC can manage up to 64 downstream devices. However, R&D has corrected our understanding of this limitation which is only 32 downstream devices. Attempting to add a 33rd downstream device will result in the   \'Feenics.Keep.DomainModel.KeepException\' error. An additional SSC or Mercury upstream controller will be necessary to commission greater than 32  downstream devices.   From R&D: "The SSC can support a Total of 32 downstream devices no matter what port they are connected to either RS485 or Virtual. The SSC can also support 64 doors total." SSC data specification sheet  *Note: The specification sheet will be corrected in the future by the Product Owner.

Issue A site configured a schedule to have 2 different holiday durations during a spring break holiday week. The schedule is not working as expected. The Holiday week is set up as a range for Monday - Friday and assigned to a single Holiday group.   Two new schedule durations have been added with the respective days selected that they would like the durations to activate on. On the 2 new durations, they added the Holiday group in the "Always Active On" area.   Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert V3 Hosted Access Expert V3 Premise Cause Holiday and special date durations will activate on the holiday dates regardless of the day(s) of the week selected in the scheduled duration. The day(s) of week checkboxes in each duration is only used for setting a recurring weekly activation on those days and are not required for Holidays. For durations that will only be used during holidays, do not select any day(s) of the week. Resolution In this case, since you need two different durations during your holiday week, you will need two new durations but with different holiday groups for each duration. Set the M, W, and F duration as holiday group A and T, R for holiday group B. Now apply the Holiday Groups to the right dates via the Holidays Menu.      

Issue Unable to Access Access Expert after converting from V2 to V3 Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert Hosted software V3 Cause Used the same Password as V2 Resolution When a site is converted from V2 to V3, Feenics sends out an email with a new username and password that can only be used within AX Version 3.   *Note* These new credentials cannot be used in V2. Once the conversion to V3 occurs, the V2 instance will be retired and you will only be able to use the V3 AX client to access your instance.

To get the controller out of this state, the following steps need to be taken: a. Locate the terminal block(TB) on the panel which contains the connections for CT (Cabinet Tamper) and BA (Power Fault) Note: You may need to consult the specific controller documentation since the TB#  with these connections are different on each board. It will look similar to the following: b. Remove the connector Cut two small pieces of wire, one for each Alarm Use the 2 wires to jumper each connection (CT and BA) to create a closed circuit. This assumes these contacts are not being used for their usual purpose. No resistors are required Place the connector back on the board The downstream devices no longer show alarms for the respective addresses.

Issue What steps are needed to configure and add Mercury Intelligent IP Controllers to Access Expert Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert Hosted V3 Cause Instruction steps are needed to configure and add Mercury Intelligent IP Controllers to Access Expert Resolution Overview Intelligent Controllers synchronize with Access Expert in real time, but all access decisions are made locally and independently from the server. This means that the processing of events, actions, and alarms remains local and functional even if network connectivity is lost. Configuring a Controller for IP Client Power the controller with an external power supply or by PoE and connect the controller via Ethernet cable to the network. Make sure all DIP switches are set to the off position. Enter the IP address of the controller in the web address bar of Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer. Set DIP switch 1 to the ON position to leverage the default username and password. Log into the controller within 5 minutes of setting DIP switch 1 to the ON position with these default credentials. Username: admin Password: password From the menu located at the left of the configuration manager page, click on the ‘Network’ button to visit the network settings page Ensure ‘Use the following DNS server address is checked and enter 8.8.8.8. This is a Google DNS server. We recommend utilizing this to maintain the best operation. Click on the Accept button in the ‘Network Settings’ page to save changes. Navigate to the menu and select the ‘Host Comm’ to open the page. Ensure the Primary Host Port is configured as follows. It should be noted the Alternate Host Port must be disabled: Communication Address: 0. Use IPv6: Unchecked. Connection Type: IP Client. Data Security: TLS if Available. Host IP/Host Name: connect.feenics.com. Port Number: 3001. Connection Mode: Continuous. Retry Interval: 20sec Click on the ‘Accept’ button in the ‘Host communication’ page to save changes. Navigate once again to the menu and select ‘Apply Settings’ to open the page. Click ‘Apply setting, Reboot’ (located at the top of the page). If a warning page appears, check both the ‘I understand' and 'wish to proceed’ boxes. Click 'Yes' to apply the changes and allow the controller to reboot. Adding Controllers to Access Expert Controllers are added to Feenics from the Hardware Provisioning tab. When adding a controller, you will need to select the controller type from the drop-down list. If the controller you are trying to add does not match one of the types listed, Access Expert does not support it. When adding a controller, a name must be given to identify the controller and the UNIQUE MAC address of the controller. The MAC address is used to identify the controller within the Feenics system. Duplicate MAC addresses will not be allowed.   When adding a controller, the MAC address is optional. If no MAC address is provided, the controller will be marked as disabled upon save. The controller can only be enabled by providing a valid MAC address.    Steps to add an IP Controller to Access Expert Select the ‘Hardware Provisioning’ Tab Click “Add Controller” and select your device type Enter a Display Name Enter the MAC Address in the correct format: “XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX” Select the time zone (This sets the Controller Time) (OPTIONAL) Assign Card Formats as needed (Can be added later) (OPTIONAL) Add Custom EOL Tables 8. Click “Save” or “Save & Close” The Port configurations will be grayed out initially until you commission Interfaces and Downstream Devices. At that point, the port configuration section will automatically be configured. Baud Rate is configurable but all devices on the bus must share a baud rate. ***Important Note: It is important to choose the correct controller type when adding a new controller.

Issue Instructions needed to perform a Factory Reset for Upstream Mercury Controllers Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert software Hosted V3 Cause Instruction steps are needed to reset Upstream Mercury controllers to Factory Default settings Resolution Bulk Erase Configuration Memory: The bulk erase function can be used for the following purposes: Erase all configuration and cardholder database (sanitize board) Update OEM default parameters after OEM code has been changed Recover from database corruption causing the board to continuously reboot   Bulk Erase Steps (Factory Reset): Do not remove power during steps 1-8   Set S1 DIP switches to: 1 & 2 "ON", 3 & 4 "OFF" (see DIP switch location and diagram below) Apply power to the board Watch for LEDs 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 to alternately flash at a 0.5 second rate Within 10 seconds of powering up, change switches 1 or 2 to "OFF". If these switches are not changed, the board will power up using the OEM default communication parameters LED 2 will flash indicating that the configuration memory is being erased Full memory erase takes up to 60 seconds When complete, only LEDs 1 & 4 will flash for 8 seconds The board will reboot 8 seconds after LEDs 1 & 4 stop flashing (no LEDs are on during this time)  All other switch settings are unassigned and reserved for future use. Issue How to set up a controller for Elevator Controls. Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Win Server 2012 and above Cause Steps to configure Elevator Controls from the beginning. Resolution To achieve this the following steps need to be followed: Open Access Expert Click on the main controller (SSC) Add interface - MR16 Out Set the address of the interface (dip-switches 1-5 on the panel) Add Reader interface and name accordingly (Elv Flr 1) for example Select the Elevator Tab and make the appropriate selections Go to the Elevator Tab Associate the MR16 Out (Floor Relays) Set Floor Relays (1 through 16) Create an Elevator Access Level - this would be used for floors that have access to this level An Elevator Override Access Level can be created as well if an Unlock Schedule is required Create the Door Group and assign the necessary  reader or readers Go to General Configuration and select the System Settings Select the Hardware Tab On the Elevator settings, change the Elevator Relay  Time and Elevator Push Button times from 1 to 5 seconds Once configured, select the elevator reader, right click and choose the Pulse option to test the relays If correct, the assigned readers will Pulse Assign users to the Elevator individually or through the User List.   Note: Please keep in mind that if there are multiple readers for multiple floors, it is best that a reader be associated with its own MR16 Out, it is best practice as the relays cannot be shared between the readers. Meaning that if Reader 1 uses relays 1-8 the second reader would not be able to use 9-16 on that same MR 16 Out. It would need its own MR16 out for those floors. Note 2: When creating Elevators in Access Expert, the outputs used on the MR16Out should not be added as an Output once defined in the Reader. These are automatically assigned, if they are added then the Floor selections will not function properly.

For Access Expert here are the steps in order to accomplish this:   Log on to the instance Once it opens up select the Access Control Tab and choose the Batch icon When this editor opens up select the Download Default Example file This will give a sample of the format that is expected when the Upload CSV is needed From the original application, if there is a dump file (Continuum) or an existing csv, copy and paste into an excel file or use the template and rename it accordingly. Choose the relevant columns to match from the list. Once satisfied with all the entries and fields, save the file then return to AccessXpert and select the Upload CSV as mentioned in Step 3. Select the file to open and once completed, all the users will then be displayed.

Issue Card being denied access at a Reader when attempting Simulated Card Read Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert Hosted V3 Cause Card format is not assigned or created in the Controller Resolution To resolve an Access Denied Invalid Card format, the Card Format must be present in the System and assigned to the controller. The following steps shows how to accomplish this: If the card is read, a Message will show up on the Live Monitoring Window with the Raw Data from that card Use the Raw Data to decipher what format the card is as well as the Facility Code and Card Number From the Access Configuration Tab, Click on the Card Format to Create a new Format Assign it to the Controller, then reboot it to push the changes down Note: If there are multiple card formats, please ensure there are not more than 8 assigned. Add the necessary Access Levels for that card as well as the user To test use the Simulated Card Read function in the Reader Right Click on the Reader, Simulate Card Read Enter the values and card number and verify in Live Monitoring that the card has worked Once presented to the Reader, an Access Granted message would show in the Live Monitoring Window, depending on Hardware Configuration for Door Contacts etc.

Issue Steps for Troubleshooting Readers Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert Hosted V3 Cause Readers are offline or not returning correct card data Resolution Common Issues Issue Solution My reader is not returning any data when I present a card Check to make sure the technology card you are using matches the requirements of the card reader. A prox card will not work on an iClass reader. Check the Reader wiring to confirm CLK and DATA on wired correctly. Check that the Reader addressing matches the reader port. Check the power being supplied to the reader. Multiclass readers cannot be powered off S2 (green boards). They require an external power supply. Bluetooth readers cannot be powered off the S2 (green) boards. The power required by the Bluetooth readers is directly related to the range at which the Bluetooth readers are programmed to work. My reader is returning different results every time I swipe my card. Check the power to the reader. If the reader requires more power than the board can provide, use a dedicated power supply. My reader is returning the correct number of bits but the encoded card information is incorrect. Check to make sure your CLK and DATA wires are not switched. If the CLK and DATA wires are switched the 0's and 1's will be inverted causing the card number reported to be wrong.  My reader is returning the correct number of bits but the raw HEX data is all 0's.  This is most often caused by a bad reader or a bad port on the Mercury board. Check the reader wiring and power first, then try the reader on a different port.    My EP1501 uses the Reader 1 port for my SIO, how do I utilize the on-board reader? The on-board reader for the EP1501 is placed on the internal port and is physically placed on Reader 2 (TB3); it should still be addressed as reader address '0' in Feenics. I wired my reader to Reader 1 on the board, what's my reader address? All reader addresses are -1 from the physical port the reader is wired to. Reader wired into Reader 1 is address 0. I don't understand what to set my offline access method to. No Change: Reader access will remain in the 'Online Access Method'. Facility Code Only: Only the facility code is required to receive and access granted event. Unlock: The reader will unlock during its offline state. Lock Down: The reader will be locked down during its offline state. OSDP Reader goes offline when I select 'Secure Channel'. From the top menu bar select 'Start Linking Mode'. The OSDP reader will come back online. Please Note: The OSDP reader must be new or never have been configured for Secure Channel previously. If it was previously configured for Secure Channel it will need to be reset with a config card. My Engage NDE/LE lock is showing a Magnetic Tamper Follow the manufacturers instructions to calibrate the door sensor. My reader is posting "Access Granted - Not Used" events. This can happen for two reasons. First, the cardholder badged at the door but never opened the door to enter. Second, the door does not have a door contact wired at the door and one is programmed into the system. Since there is no device telling the system if the door was used, the system reports no door use. My reader is posting "Access Denied" events immediately after "Access Granted" events. Whenever troubleshooting event data always be sure to expand the event message to learn more. If the event is returning data is without a card read following the first access event, it suggests there may be power coming back into the comms, or are sending feedback into the comms loop. You can test this by Does removing the load (pull the output/strike) oof the terminal render the same results? Is there any change when placing the reader directly onto the Mercury board? A thorough investigation of the power wiring on the board will help isolate the location of the issue. My reader is posting "Access Denied - Incomplete Card or PIN Sequence" The Card and PIN reader mode requires a valid PIN sequence followed by a valid card read. The Incomplete Card or PIN Sequence can occur Only the card was presented to the reader. Only the PIN Code was entered at the reader. The card was presented before the PIN code was entered. Keep in mind, if someone enters a random PIN sequence at a reader and happens to guess a valid PIN but does not present a card, this event will show. The reader is producing an "Unidentified Person on Site" event. This event is produced when a controller grants access at a reader to a cardholder that is on the controller database, but that is not currently within the Feenics Database. This can happen if a controller missed an event when a person was deleted from the database. The system will delete this card from the controller after this event. The next step is to identify the person and remove them from the building. The reader is posting "Access Denied - Invalid Facility Code" but showing the correct Facility Code in the expanded event data. This can occur if the Card Format programmed with the appropriate Facility Code on the controller does not have the correct parity bits for the card being used. The Mercury Service checks the Card number, the Facility Code, and the parity bits in that order. Due to this, when creating a card format, the parity bit is often the last part of the Card Format to be checked.    

  Issue Extending a User/Cardholder Expiry Date Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert Hosted V3 Cause Steps needed to Extend an Expiry date for a cardholder Resolution In Access Expert, there needs to be a way to extend cards that are about to expire after the default time has been entered initially. This can be done for single users or badge types depending on the circumstances. The following steps describe how this can be accomplished:   Open and log on to the Users instance Once opened, select Access Control and click on the List Tab then select View Expiring Cards A list will appear that shows all the cards that are about to expire based on the parameters entered When this list comes up, Select the Extend All button to bring up the Editor that will extend the time Enter the New Expiry Date that allows the card to function accordingly Click OK and the cards listed will then have the New Expiry Date listed    

  Issue Understanding the EP1501 and LP1501 downstream device limitations Product Line EcoStruxure Access Expert Environment Access Expert Hosted V3 Cause Downstream device limitations determine how many upstream controllers are required when using these controllers Resolution When choosing to use the EP1501 or LP1501, knowing the limitations of the downstream devices plays an important part in determining the number of controllers needed for a job. The limitation is 8 I/O devices, so if the downstream controller is an MR 50 then a total of 9 readers including the onboard reader can be utilized. Keep in mind that no matter what the mixture is, including MR51e's or MR52's, a total amount of 17 readers can be used or licensed on these controllers

A method for verifying the number of reader licenses is needed. Resolution Steps for verifying the number of Reader Licenses for an Instance Open Access Expert and log on to the Instance Right Click on the Instance and select the Manage License option A list of licenses for each object is displayed for the current Instance Based on this information the partner/user can determine how many licenses are required Create a Purchase Order and use the needed part number for the object Example: AXH-RMC-32V3 to add additional reader licenses

Feenics has made several fundamental changes to the holidays within the Keep by Feenics System. This article will walk through how the new holiday sets work and how to implement them. The holidays apply globally to all schedules.   Updating    The launch of the new holiday system requires a system upgrade within your instance. This upgrade only needs to occur once and is irreversible. To upgrade, click the "Update Holidays" button.   Note: Before you begin converting holidays, there can be no more than 8 holiday sets in the older system for the update to work.   Once that button is clicked, a warning will pop up letting you know that the process is irreversible. Click OK and your instance will be updated.     ***Note: Customers within an Enterprise instance will need to apply this update to ALL shared instances and the Enterprise instance separately.   Adding Holidays   Holidays are added to the system through the "Add Holiday Duration" button. This will add a holiday interval to the system. Holiday Durations   Holiday Durations are days in the system on which, the schedules should not activate. To add a Holiday, click "Add Holiday Duration", then name the day. This day will prevent all schedules from activating unless added to the "Always Active On" column in a schedule. Holiday durations are limited to 255 per instance.  Display Name: The name of the holiday interval, i.e. Valentine's Day, Halloween, Veterans Day. Start Date: The date the holiday interval begins on. End Date: The date the holiday interval ends on. (If the start and end date match, the holiday will be for that day only). Special Date: This flag inverts the behaviour. If this holiday interval is assigned to a schedule interval (via Holiday Groups), the schedule interval will activate for that day. Holiday Group: This selection allows the user to group holiday intervals into sets.  Tags: As in the rest of keep, tags allow for organization and permissions to be set by these groupings.   Holiday Groups   Holidays can be grouped together by using holiday groups. These groups are edited by selecting the "Edit Holiday Groups" button and modifying the Group Name. Holiday intervals are then added to the group by assigning them in the Holiday Group column of the holiday interval. ***Note: The shared holidays between groups should be in their own group. This will allow the non-shared holidays to be applied to schedules correctly.   Applying Holidays   Holidays apply globally to all schedules. A holiday Group can be added to a schedule interval to tell that interval to ignore that holiday.   ***Note: If a holiday exception is added to a schedule interval, the schedule will activate on the day of the holiday, regardless of the day selection on the schedule interval. Special Dates   Special Dates can be used to activate a schedule interval for a day or group of days regardless of the other intervals within the schedule. To add a special date, open the Holidays page and add the day(s) as a holiday interval, then check the "Special Date" box. Add the special date(s) to a group on its own.
