Alarm view - Triggered time and Timestamp

Issue Difference in Triggered time and Timestamp Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SBO Alarm view Cause In alarm view there, there are two timefields: "triggered time" and "time stamp." Resolution The Timestamp is the time at which the most recent state change occurred to the alarm. It is when the AS or ES received/detected the state and logged the alarm. The Triggered time is the first occurrence of this alarm. It could be when the alarm was originally detected, before possibly going in/ out of alarm several times. It could also be the time stamp when detected by a field controller. Triggered Time Stamp behavior also clarifies a few things on when they are updated.

Programming SNVT_Switch in Menta

Issue Instructions and programming example for using SNVT_Switch as an input or output in Menta Product Line TAC Vista, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Menta Function Block Cause The attached programming example is intended to clarify how to properly use SNVT_Switch in Menta. SNVT_Switch is a structured SNVT with two attributes, or members, State and Value. Programmatically this will be one SNVT in the device template, but it will be programmed as two separate analog points in Menta. These two public blocks will have different names in Menta, but they will share the same SNVT name with the exception of one of the points being the state member, and the other being the value member. It is important to remember that these points must always be programmed as analog points in Menta. AI's for input points, and AO's for output points. The state attribute is intended to be used for a binary on-off signal, but also contain the value -1 for Invalid value. The value attribute is intended to be used as a 0-100% signal. This SNVT is typically used in the market for starting and stopping a VFD drive and sending a speed reference with the same SNVT. The 0,1 value on the state member will start and stop the drive, and the value member will send a 0-100% speed signal. Resolution Please see the attached Menta macro as a guide to using SNVT_Switch in Menta. This example shows you SNVT_Switch as an input and as an output to the Xenta controller. To use this macro please follow these steps: Download the attached macro from above. Unzip the file and extract the SNVT_Switch.MTA from the archive to the local hard drive. Open Menta Right-click in Menta and click Load Macro Browse to the SNVT_Switch.MTA on the local hard drive and open it. It should import into the Menta file that is open.

Upgrading SQL Express to a paid Edition of SQL for EcoStruxure Reports Server

Issue Upgrading SQL Express to a paid Edition of SQL for EcoStruxure Reports Server Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment WebReports Reports Server SQL Express Cause SQL Express 2008 R2 (for example) is limited to 10 Gb of Storage and 1 Gb of Ram usage. Many sites need a larger, more robust database than this allows. Resolution NOTICE: Before beginning, it is important to understand the difference between the Instance name and the version of SQL running.  The default instance name used in the the SQL Express version of SQL is SQLEXPRESS. This can be changed to anything during installation, but cannot be changed later.  This means that when upgrading to SQL Enterprise edition, the SQL instance name will still need to be SQLEXPRESS. The instruction below assumes the instance name is SQLEXPRESS and will be typed in that manner.   Perform a full backup of the Enterprise Server and Reports Server before beginning any upgrade process. Save these files to an external drive. Purchase a supported edition of SQL for the revision of EcoStruxure Building Operation WebReports being used. Please check the data sheet for the release to obtain this information. Open the Command Prompt and Browse to the location of the installation files for SQL. This should be the folder containing the setup.exe file for the new version of SQL Enter the Command "setup /ACTION=editionupgrade /INSTANCENAME=SQLEXPRESS /PID=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" NOTE:If  not using the default instance name, enter the correct instance name in place of SQLEXPRESS. PID is the product ID that came with the installation media. In some cases, this will be left out of the command string and entered later. (setup /ACTION=editionupgrade /INSTANCENAME=SQLEXPRESS) The SQL Installer will open. After the Setup Support Rules operation runs, click OK Click Next Verify the Product Key and click Next. Accept the License Agreement and click Next Ensure that the correct instance of SQL is selected and click Next. After the Edition Upgrade Rules runs, click Next Review the Upgrade Summary and click Upgrade When Complete click Close Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager using the start menu and verify that the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service is running and that the SQL Server Reporting Services service is running. If either are stopped, right click and select the start option. Verify the upgrade is successful by opening a Web Browser and entering the URL "http://localhost/Reports_SQLEXPRESS" It should now be possible to see the option to directly edit reports in Report Builder. Log into the WebReports Interface. Notice that the initial report showing Database usage no longer runs.

Identifying Security Expert Smart Card Readers firmware

Issue How can the firmware version of Security Expert Smart Card Readers be determined. Product Line EcoStruxure Security Expert Environment Security Expert Smart Card Readers Cause It is not possible to easily identify the firmware which a reader has been shipped with. Serial Numbers are not sequential and cannot be used as general guide. Resolution There are two supported methods to determine the firmware version of a Security Expert Smart Card Reader: 1. Via Product Support If you need to identify the original firmware version shipped with a reader: Raise a case with Schneider Electric Product Support. Include the reader’s serial number in your request. Product Support will contact Manufacturing to obtain confirmation of the firmware version originally installed on the reader. 2. Via Controller Web Interface (Requires Reader Expander Firmware 1.12.605 or later, Security Expert Controller Firmware 2.08.1498 or later, SP-C-WEB Firmware 4.00.2261 or later) From firmware version 1.12.605 and above, the Security Expert Controller’s web interface displays the serial numbers and firmware versions of connected card readers via RS-485 or OSDP. Steps to View Firmware Version: Log in to the Controller Web Interface. Navigate to Application Software. Open the Module dropdown to view connected readers. Important Notes: Wiegand-connected readers are not displayed in the web interface. If the Reader Expander address has changed, a power cycle is required for the readers to reappear in the interface.

Signing a Niagara N4 Program Object

Issue Every time you compile a program object you get a message saying the "Program is not signed"   Product Line TAC IA Series Environment I/A Series N4 Jace 8000 I/A Series N4 Enterprise Server Cause Tridium's Niagara N4 product will at some point in the future require code signing Resolution Create the main certificate in our Workbench to be used for signing our Program Objects. Go to the top drop-down menu on the Workbench and select "Tools - Certificate Management". Note: do not open the Certificate Management of your Platform. That is different and will be used for our running stations, not for this purpose. On the "User Key Store" tab, press "New" to create a new certificate. Fill in all the required fields. Make sure you change the "Not After" date so the certificate does not expire in just 1 year. Select the specific "Certificate Usage" as "Code Signing"   Press "OK" and set a password for your certificate. Remember: this password will be asked by the workbench at the point of compiling your code. Now select the new certificate, then press the "Export" button below   Export the certificate without the private key. You will be prompted then to give your certificate file a name and store it in your computer. We would also recommend exporting the certificate again, this time with the private key included, and storing it with an indicative name, in case you want to transfer it to a different machine. Change tab and move to the "User Trust Store". From there, press the button "Import" at the bottom and select the certificate without the private key. It should appear in green as accepted in the windows above. Go to the top drop-down menu, and select "Tools - Options" Find the "Code Signing Options" on the left-hand side, and on the "Signing Cert" section select the certificate we have just created and accepted on our Workbench. Then press OK to confirm. Open the local host Platform, and double-click the platform Certificate Management. Select the tab "User Trust Store", then press the button "Import" and select again the certificate without the private key. On the station running locally, you can now compile your code. Note that the first time the Workbench will ask for your password (the one you assigned when creating the certificate). Add the password and see that the code now compiles with no certificate error If you try compiling code on a Jace, it will return the "Certificate not trusted" until you add the certificate to the Jace Certificate Management too. On the Jace Platform, double click the "Certificate Management", then select the tab "User Trust Store". In there, press "Import" and select your certificate without the private key. Your program objects will now compile correctly.

Configure oBIX to integrate a Niagara R2 station and a Niagara G3 station

Issue How do I configure oBIX (Open Building Information Exchange) to integrate a Niagara R2 station and a Niagara G3 station? Product Line TAC IA Series Environment Niagara R2 version 5.22 and later Niagara G3 version 3.4 and later Cause This document provides an overview of the integration of an R2 UNC to a G3 Enterprise Server using oBIX (Open Building Information Exchange). Resolution The R2 UNC must be licensed for "obix" and the obix jar file must be in the remote library of the UNC. Add the "ObixService" to the Services container of the UNC. Re-boot the UNC. The G3 Enterprise Server must be licensed for obix. Double-click the Drivers Component in the G3 Enterprise Server to open the Driver Manager. Add an Obix Network. Double-click the new Obix Network to open the Obix Client Manager. Click the "New" button at the bottom. Add a new "R2 Obix Client." Double-click the new R2 Obix Client. Enter a name for the UNC. In the Lobby field, enter http://, followed by the IP Address of the UNC, followed by "/obix". Enter the UNC's station username and password. Click OK. After a few seconds the state of the client should be "Attached." Expand the UNC Device in the Nav Tree. Double-click the points component to open the Obix Point Manager. Click the "Discover" button. After the points are discovered, expand "Lobby" and then "Config." (The Lobby is the root of a Server's oBIX object tree.) You can now scroll to see the containers and objects in the UNC's station. You can add UNC points to the G3 Enterprise Server's database in the usual manner. If you wish to have "link control" of objects in the UNC from the G3 Enterprise Server, then add an "Obix Export" object in the R2 Logic. These Obix Export Objects (analog, binary or multistate) are found in the Obix jar file in the remote library of the R2 UNC. Link pOut of the Export Object to pIn (if available) of the object you wish to control. Then link sOut of the R2 object back to the feedbackInput (fIn) of the export object. If no Priority Input is available on the R2 object, simply link the sOut of the Export Object to the sIn of the R2 object. No link to the feedbackInput of the Export Object is required. Return to the G3 Enterprise Server and discover the points in the R2 UNC. When adding the Export Point to the obixNetwork, the Export Objects default to type "Numeric Writable" so they can be commanded from the G2 Enterprise Server.

"No Answer" on an OP when connecting to a Xenta 280/300/400

Issue "No Answer" when plugging in an operator panel (OP) to a Xenta 300/400/280. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Xenta OP Xenta Programmable controllers Xenta 280, 281, 282, 283, 300, 301, 302, 401, 401:B Cause There are several adjustable parameters on the Xenta OP that put it into different modes of communication/user preferences. This is a comprehensive list of all of those that might affect connectivity in different situations. If the controller is NOT commissioned, the red LED is blinking. The controller will not talk to the OP until commissioned. The OP will only talk to controllers on its same Domain ID. For troubleshooting connectivity to a Xenta 100 series ASC, see Use a Xenta OP with a Xenta 100 controller. Resolution Is the TAC Xenta controller commissioned? If the controller is NOT commissioned, the red LED is blinking. The controller will not talk to the OP until commissioned. Commission the controller from Lonmaker if using an LNS network (to download to the controller from the system plug-in first) Download and commission from TAC Vista if using a classic network. What mode is the OP in? Press the "escape" and "enter" buttons at the same time to get to the "OP service menu," scroll down to "OP-mode." Waveform: Stepped Approximation/Pure Sine Wave

Issue Waveforms for PS, AS, and I/O modules Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SmartStruxure Site Cause Loss of power and UPS for the StruxureWare Building Operation and SmartStruxure product lines. Should you design a site with Stepped Approximation or Pure Sine Wave? Resolution Concerning the UPS, and in particular the APC UPS 650, this is a good UPS, but the problem is that it would still interrupt the power for enough time to reset the AS. The AS has a 100mS capacity. AS Power supply interruption or failure has a bit more information would be beneficial to read through. A good UPS would be one that is Online or sometimes referred to as Double Online. This means that the power is not interrupted. The APC UPS line that has this is the SmartUPS and the base model is the old 1000XLI. This model may or may not be available in every country, but there would be a comparable model available. APC has been replacing the 1000XLI with various models, but all have the capability to go directly to battery, then back to power once the power is restored (assuming that there is a backup generator or the main power is restored) before the battery is pulled down. The Automation Server is powered from one or several PS-24V units. They have and peak voltage rectification on the input and the voltage waveform should not be an issue as long as the peak voltage is similar to that of a sine wave. If the input voltage is increasing with a very high dV/dt there may be high input current peaks. Those peaks may but not necessarily be reduced by the 230/24V transformer.   Key Concept: Look for a model with the Topology of Line Interactive and the Waveform Type of Sine wave. Picture is simply for example but not required:

How to de-bounce a noisy sensor signal.

Issue Some sensors such as the SCR110-H CO2 produce a noisy signal even when wired according to the documented instructions. The following is a trend chart of the unfiltered raw signal from the sensor. Environment Automation Server Continuum controllers TAC Xenta Cause Noisy signal is typically caused by common ground wiring of AC power. Resolution SOLUTION #1 Signal noise can usually be eliminated by using an isolated transformer to power the sensor separately as opposed to using a common transformer that powers up several pieces of equipment. SOLUTION #2 For sensors that support  AC and DC input voltage, signal noise can usually be eliminated by using DC instead of AC power source to power the sensor. SOLUTION #3 Implement a Slew Rate to filter out the noise. As of version 1.7.1, StruxureWare Building Operation does not have a built-in slew rate functionality. Nevertheless, a custom slew rate can be implemented using Script programming. See HowToDebounceANoisySensorSignal.pdf SOLUTION #4 Add a filter (FILT) in a Function Block program after the signal input Description: The function block is a discrete time first order software filter. The filter time constant is specified in seconds with the Time Const parameter. The initial block output value is zero. The filter algorithm is y(k) = y(k-1) + 1 / 1+T/h (u(k)-y(k-1)) where y(k) and u(k) are the filtered and unfiltered values at time k, respectively,h is the sampling interval (i.e. the application program cycle time), and T is the filter time constant. If the time constant is less than or equal to zero, no filtering is done. To obtain a good filter function, the time constant should be set significantly greater than the application program cycle time. This filter algorithm is based on a straightforward backward difference approximation of the continuous time derivative operator. SOLUTION #5 Ensure you are not using older versions of the IO Firmware. As detailed in TPA-SBO-17-0006.00 the firmware should be at least V2.015 in the modules and is available on the Download Center.
