Examples for the new native EBO Notification Reports

Issue Are there any Example Reports for the new native Notification Reports which came out in EBO 3.2 to replace the now deprecated WebReports and Report Server? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Workstation Cause As of EBO 2022 (4.0) WebReports and the Report Server have now been deprecated and replaced by External Log Storage using Postgres SQL and Timescale DB, plus the new native Notification Reports which are now built into EBO 3.2 and above, but there are no examples to help new starters to get going. Resolution A Schneider-Electric Community page has been set up specifically for Notification Report users so that they can share their Reports and collaborate on Reporting ideas: https://community.se.com/t5/EcoStruxure-Building-Operation/Reports-showcase-share-your-reports/m-p/388619#M75732

PT1000 temperature sensors RTD Input

Issue PT1000 temperature sensors RTD Input Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment AS Classic, ASP  UI16, RTD-DI-16 - Central IO Module ASB, RPC, MPC Need for temperature to be extremely accurate PT1000 platinum resistance thermometer, RTD Resistance Temperature Detector Cause The AS Central IO Module Universal Inputs (UI16) were designed to interface to various thermistors that can have resistance values that are usually much higher than 1000 ohms. They were not designed to interface directly to a PT1000 RTD, and will not provide good accuracy when measuring these lower resistance sensors. The resistance input type was intended to allow for measuring the position of a 10K potentiometer that is used on some wall sensors. The accuracy specification for a resistance input is: +/-(7+0.004*R) ohms. This would result in an error of +/-11 ohms at 1000ohms – therefore a temperature measurement error approaching +/-3.0C. Resolution AS, ASP For RTD PT1000 (Pt100, Pt1000, Ni1000, LG-Ni1000, JCI-Ni1000) use RTD-DI-16 - Central IO Module, then choose 2 or 3 wire RTD Temperature Input ASB Choose 2-wire RTD Temperature Input (Pt1000, Ni1000, LG-Ni1000, JCI-Ni1000) RPC, MPC, MPV Choose RTD Temperature Input (Pt1000, Ni1000, LG-Ni1000)   For more details see SpaceLogic Hardware Reference Guide

Ports used for Automation Server to Automation Server Communication (ASP/ASB)

Issue When a value in one Automation Server is transferred to a value in another Automation Server what port is used? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Building Operation Workstation EcoStruxure Building Operation Automation Server (ASP/ASB) Cause Documentation required on ports being used Resolution EcoStruxure Automation servers can use one of three different communication protocols: Transport Control Protocol - TCP Hypertext Transfer Protocol - HTTP Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure- HTTPS   The communication protocol and ports are configured in the Server wizard when you add an EcoStruxure BMS server via the Enterprise Server   EcoStruxure Automation servers can listen on one of the three communication protocols from Version 1.3 upwards. The TCP port is fixed but please refer to Changing the Automation Server HTTP/HTTPS ports TCP on port 4444 (fixed) HTTP on port 80 (default) HTTPS on port 443 (default)   Each EcoStruxure Automation server maintains a list of all the other EcoStruxure servers in the system and the communication parameters of those EcoStruxure BMS servers. To see the list and which protocol/port is being used select the server (1), select the Communications tab (2) and view the list (3) or individual server settings (4). Note when selecting an Automation Server the individual server settings (4) of other Automation Servers will be greyed out.   When an automation server is added, its communication parameters are distributed by the Enterprise Server to all other EcoStruxure BMS servers in the system. For additional information please refer to EcoStruxure BMS Server Communication   If the IP address or protocol port number in an already commissioned EcoStruxure Automations server is changed, this information must be manually updated in the Enterprise Server Communication view. The Enterprise Server then distributes the new parameters to the other EcoStruxure Automation servers. Select the Enterprise Server (1), select the Communication tab (2), select the server to be changed (3), update the settings (4):   If there are problems with the communication parameters please refer to Inconsistent Communication Parameters

MSTP controllers go offline when changing the MaxMaster value in the Automation Server from it's default of 127.

Issue MSTP controllers go offline when changing the MaxMaster value in the Automation Server from it's default of 127 Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Workstation Building Operation Automation Server MSTP Master Controllers Cause The MaxMaster value is being set lower than some or all of the MSTP controllers on the network Resolution EcoStruxure Building Operation supports MSTP Master controllers in the address range 0-127 (often refered to as the node id). The MSTP network is a token passing network where the token is passed around the network, until a controller has the token it cannot 'talk' to other devices.   The MaxMaster value is defaulted to 127 to allow all devices on the network to receive the token and reply to online status requests, send values etc. If the MaxMaster value is less than any of the MSTP Master controller addresses then those controllers never receive the token and cannot respond to online status requests.   The value for the MaxMaster needs to be equal to or greater than the highest addressed MSTP controller node id.  For example, if the highest node id=54 then the MaxMaster will need to be set to 54 or higher. For maximum efficiency the MaxMaster should be set 1 or 2 greater than the highest controller address, this allows for adding future devices without needlessly polling for many non-existent devices.    Please refer to BACnet MS/TP Network Properties – Basic Tab or Configuring the MS/TP Network for b3 Communication

Alarm colors in Workstation

Issue Alarm colors in Workstation Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment  Building Operation Workstation Cause The default color for active alarms is white font with a red background. Some customers may want this to be in a different color.  Resolution In Building Operation Workstation System tree, go to Alarm Control Panel > Alarm Styles.  From here, the font type, font color and background color of acknowledged, active, disabled, fault or reset alarm states can be changed.  Refer to: Styling the Alarm States in the Alarms Pane and Alarm Views   Also available from EcoStruxure Building Operation 1.9 and above is Alarm Decoration. This allows overriding an alarm configuration for a specific alarm or group of alarms and applying an alarm decoration rule.  An alarm decoration rule is similar to a filter and allows changing other properties in addition to the font type, font color and background color.

External Log Storage PostgreSQL database schema

Issue External Log Storage PostgreSQL / TimescaleDB schema. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Building Operation 3.0 and above External Log Storage Cause Need to understand what is supported with regards to third-party queries to the PostgreSQL / TimeScaleDB  Resolution The PostgreSQL database schema is not published by R&D (The Report Server schema can be generated via WebReports see Obtaining a Database Schema for EBO WebReports / Report Server - Communities, but should not be compared with External Log Storage) In order to get visual diagrams that show relations of the Extended Log Storage PostgreSQL TimescaleDB, you can download tools such as "SchemaSpy ", ERBuilder, or similar to generate it. Sample outputs are attached from SchemaSpy and ERBuilder. The PostgreSQL database schema is likely to change with each EBO version and hence is not published External Log Storage is designed to operate with EBO, rather than provide data directly to a third party - no support is offered with the third-party connection and data transfer Only third-party read querying is allowed Most tables are self-explanatory, the "trend_data" table, "Type" column is detailed below: It's a number representing which record type TrendRecordTypes = { RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTLogValueRecord, RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTLogEditValueRecord, RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTLogCommentRecord, RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTLogEventRecord, RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTLogEventValueRecord, RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTLogMeterChangeRecord, RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTLogNullEventRecord, RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTLogReconfigRecord, RecordTypes::s_trendrecordTransferEventRecord }; The record type that is most common is the TLogValueRecord, and it's 0 and so on   For reference, the only other documents available would be Alarms - Add/Remove Columns Dialog Box (Alarms) (se.com) Events - Add/Remove Columns Dialog Box (Events) (se.com) Trends - Add/Remove Columns Dialog Box (Trends) (se.com)

UniCast or Multicast

Issue Does Building Operation use Unicast or Multicast? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Automation Server Building Operation Workstation Cause Does Building Operation use Unicast or Multicast? Definitions: Unicast packets are sent from host to host. The communication is from a single host to another single host. There is one device transmitting a message destined for one receiver. Multicast is a protocol for use with IP. Multicast enables a single device to communicate with a specific set of hosts, not defined by any standard IP address and mask combination. This allows for communication that resembles a conference call. Anyone from anywhere can join the conference, and everyone at the conference hears what the speaker has to say. The speaker's message is not broadcasted everywhere, but only to those in the conference call itself. A special set of addresses is used for multicast communication. Broadcast is when a single device is transmitting a message to all other devices in a given address range. This broadcast could reach all hosts on the subnet, all subnets, or all hosts on all subnets. Broadcast packets have the host (and/or subnet) portion of the address set to all ones. By design, most modern routers will block IP broadcast traffic and restrict it to the local subnet. Resolution Building Operation is using only IPv4 and therefore Unicast only. This may change when Building Operation begins using IPv6. At that time, a site may want to use the IPv6 multicast features to address groups of targets.

Ensure IP or DNS address is valid NTP server

Issue Need to verify Network Time Protocol (NTP) server is running/listening on IP or DNS address. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Automation Server Cause Automation Servers require valid local or internet NTP servers for accurate timekeeping. Resolution Check an NTP server using this command at the Windows Command Prompt: w32tm /stripchart /computer:<IP Address> /dataonly /samples:5 Substitute the DNS name or IP you want to test for <IP Address>.   Additional Notes: Windows machine must be on the primary ethernet network, as Automation Server's secondary IP Port will not route NTP traffic. Connected to site VPN may or may not perform as expected based on VPN Configuration for the site. One can always remote desktop the Enterprise Server and run Command Prompt to check locally. If the Enterprise Server is configured in a Virtual Environment or on a separate subnet from the Automation Servers, then Enterprise Server Gateway may be an NTP server, so one change to check that IP address using this method. Examples of Success First screenshot is local Enterprise Server running Meinburg NTP server. Second screenshot is an internet NTP server. Example of Failure Screenshot is local Enterprise Server gateway that is NOT running an NTP Server.  Related Article: Time Synchronization of the ES and AS

EBO INET Transition ChangeSet Type Index error in Trace log

Issue When evaluating Inet Transition sites, a common error seen when uploading I/NET controllers under the  Inet Interface is an upload failure.  The Background Status and trace log will contain a changeset error as shown below: UploadDevice failed to process changeset on link: 93 station: 10, type index: 17 cannot continue upload Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation, TAC INET Environment Ecostruxure Building Operation Inet Interface  Cause Understanding the ChangeSet Indices used by the developers will help pinpoint where the issue is originating from.  The message typically isolates the Link and Station but does not identify where within this controller the problem may lie.  Resolution The current list of ChangeSet Indices are listed below and attached Changeset_index.txt Index Affected 9 DCU passwords, States, Eng units, Conversion Coeff., Controls, Holidays, DDC history, Override access, Sunrise/Sunset 11 Points 15 Action message, DCU DDC, Event sequences 17 Calculation 19 Event extension 21 Extension general (can be one of: Runtime, Consumption, or Alarm inhibit - depends on DCU type) 23 ATS 25 ATC 27 Extension application (can be one of: Demand, ORB, ORBEM, UC, LZ, LC, Elevator - depends on DCU type) 29 Trend 31 Lookup table (raw data) 33 Demand load (raw data) 35 MCU 37 MR DDC 39 AIC sequence (raw data) 43 LCD page, Istat param, IAS (raw data) 45 Access control (raw data) Note: "raw data" indicates user cannot manipulate in EBO but it is uploaded and save in raw form to allow for a download/restore Working with the example shown in the Issue, the message indicates a changeset value of Index: 17.  Using the attached list, Index 17 indicates that the issue is within the Calculation Editor. Using the SAV file from the site and working offline within I/NET open this SAV file and check each of the editors, in this case, calculations. In most cases, it will either be an invalid character or invalid point address - which will be shown as 'blank' as seen below: Correcting this and updating the SAV file to the controller (Station Restore) will typically correct this issue. If the same error persists then please provide an Export of the Inet Interface and the SAV files of the controllers having this problem through your local support channel.

How often will an Automation Server ask the NTP server for the time?

Issue If the AS is configured to get the time from an NTP server the customer need to know how often the AS will ask the NTP server for the time.    Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Building Operation Enterprise Central  EcoStruxure Building Operation Enterprise Server EcoStruxure Building Operation Automation Server (AS/ASB/ASP) Cause In version 1.4, the AS asked the NTP server 1 time per minute. Starting in version 1.5, this was changed so the AS is using the standard solution for the NPT protocol. Resolution When using the standard solution in the NTP protocol as the AS does starting in version 1.5, it depends on how much the AS drifts from the NTP server. The faster the AS drifts, the more frequently the time is updated.   For more information regarding Network Time, please see WebHelp article 6370 and corresponding articles.

BACnet Interface - Contains Unresolved BACnet Reference

Issue The BACnet Interface Contains a Yellow Exclamation Icon and when you hover over to read the tooltip it states, “Contains Unresolved BACnet Reference”. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Building Operation Building Operation Multi-Purpose Controller Building Operation Multi-purpose VAV Building Operation Room Controller Building Operation IP-IO Cause There is a reference misconfiguration within the “Time Synchronization Recipients” under the BACnet Interface. Resolution Select and highlight the BACnet Interface then select the Time Synchronization Recipients TAB Compare the list Names with the list to the left under the IP Network Tree. In this example, we can see that MPV-9A is not a controller within my database under the IP Network_2. Highlight/Select the controller under Time Synchronization recipients and edit the details by clicking on the pencil icon. Within the Time Synchronization Recipient screen, we want to adjust this device to match the ACTUAL device located under our IP Network_2 named MP-9A_Roof. Click on the “three dots|ellipsis “to browse to the correct Recipient device identifier. In this example: Select the BACnet Interface > IP Network_2 > MPV-9A_Roof as this is the correct path for this device. At this point, we have the correct path under the Recipient device object reference. Adjust the Recipient name to match the BACnet name you configured for that device. In this example, it was set to MPV-9A_Roof. TIP: Click the BACnet button to fill in the recipient name field with the BACnet name of the device referenced in the recipient device object reference field. Click OK. If this is the only device you need to modify then you can click the SAVE icon. If you have more devices to adjust, then you will repeat the process until you're done with all the devices. You have now resolved the reference errors against the BACnet Interface.

Password recovery procedure for SpaceLogic Operator Display

Issue What is the password recovery procedure for the SpaceLogic Operator Display if the password is lost? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SpaceLogic Operator Display Cause If losing the password for the SpaceLogic Operator Display there is no password recovery procedure available to recover it. The only option to access the device again is to do a device recovery procedure on the device. When doing a device recovery on the device everything on it, all users, configuration data, and logs will be deleted and a new firmware loaded into the device Resolution Steps to perform a device recovery procedure:   Download the device recovery file (tar.gz file) which is included in the “SpaceLogic Operator Display HMIST6400SL Firmware Package” which you can download from Schneider Electric Exchange Extract files and copy them to a USB stick (Format: FAT) a. Unpack the tar.gz  b. Two unpacks are required, then "aurora" folder should be present c. Copy whole "aurora" folder to a USB stick d. The structure on disk should be: e. aurora (folder)-FIRMWARE (folder)- AURORA.CFG-nand.img Power off OPD (Operator Display) Connect a USB-OTG cable (On-The-Go cable, USB-micro-B to USB-A) to the USB-2 port on the rear of OPD . Note: The cable is like a key, to enable device recovery. Do NOT connect USB stick to cable. Connect the USB stick to the USB-1 port on the rear of the OPD Power on OPD Device will boot to a white screen and display: Recovery Mode Loading nand.img... Writing KERNEL... Writing ROOTFS... Udisk upgrade success! (Loud beep) "Upgrade successfully, Wait to Reboot!" Power off OPD. Remove USB stick and USB-OTG cable Power on device and it will boot to the loaded firmware Firmware version is shown on startup screen.   For more details see video:

BACnet Interface polling interval settings and usage

Issue How are the 'Advanced Polling Configuration' settings under the BACnet interface to be used? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Enterprise Server (ES) Automation Server (AS) Cause These settings can be used to reduce traffic on the BACnet networks that can overload both the EBO server as well as the devices being polled. Resolution The settings are used to specify an amount of time (in milliseconds) that the server should wait after completing a polling cycle on the applicable BACnet network before starting the next cycle. A polling cycle is the set of point being polled on a particular network interface. For example, lets assume that the Minimum polling interval for MSTPA network has been set to 1000 ms, if you are polling 30 points on MSTP port A then the BACnet plug in will do synchronous ReadProperty requests to poll each of the 30 points one at a time. Once the 30 points are polled, (one polling cycle) the BACnet plug-in will delay 1000ms before polling the 30 points again. (next polling cycle) NOTE: The settings apply to polling ONLY and do not affect communications done via change of value (COV) To find a proper value to use, it is recommended that you start with 1000 ms and then adjust the value up or down based on polling performance. If the polled values update fast enough, increase the minimum polling interval to reduce CPU usage. If the polled values become too sluggish, reduce the minimum polling interval until performance returns to satisfactory levels. It may take some trial and error to find the optimum balance.
