Running I/NET Seven as a service on Windows

Issue Running I/NET Seven as a service on Windows Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Seven All supported Operating Systems Cause When you log out of Microsoft Windows or restart the computer, all running processes are shut down. These processes are not resumed at log on or at restart. You have to start I/NET manually again. To get I/NET to start up when the computer restarts, you can run it as a service. Running a program as a service means that it runs in the background, but it is not visible on the Windows task bar. Resolution Use the INET Run Mode tool available on the Community.  Alternatively, you can perform the following steps to set/unset the InetIoSrv.exe as a service or application. To register I/NET Seven to run as a service Open a Windows command prompt. Go to Start > Run and type "cmd" Use right-click on the command prompt and select "Run as Administrator" Use commands cd.. (to go back one directory) and cd (to go into a folder) to navigate to the following location: C:\Program Files\INET Seven\ If this is being run on a 64 Bit OS, the location then would be: C:\Program Files (x86)\INET Seven\ Type the following command. This will unregister I/NET as an application inetiosrv /unregserver Type the following command. This will register I/NET to run as a Windows service inetiosrv /service To verify the changes have taken effect Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Manage" Select Services and Applications > Services Look for Inet7Iosrv. It should be set to Automatic. You are now running I/NET as a service. IOSrv will now be running in the background when the PC boots up. This does not require a Log On to the PC, however, you will have to Log On to the PC as a user to launch I/NET or AMT from the desktop icon. You will notice that IOSrv has been logging all AMT transactions, messages and alarms. The SQL Server and Agent were also running in the background receiving data to the database. To set I/NET back to running as an application Open a Windows command prompt. Go to Start > Run and type "cmd" Use right-click on the command prompt and select "Run as Administrator" Use commands cd.. (to go back one directory) and cd (to go into a folder) to navigate to the following location: C:\Program Files\INET Seven\ Type the following command. This will unregister I/NET as a service inetiosrv /unregserver Type the following command. This will register I/NET to run as an application inetiosrv /regserver

Error: "No Entries in Database"

Issue Unable to connect to a system that is using Server/Client Configuration. After promoting a stand alone PC to a remote client and clicking on the connect button, an error "No Entries in Database" comes up and the user cannot connect to any of the controllers on the system. After a restart of PC and an attempt to connect to the I/NET System, an error "No entries in database" is seen. Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Seven Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 10 Cause Some of the possible causes : After promoting a stand alone PC to a remote client the Reference Host information of both the server and the client must be updated with the IP addresses of each other. Bad communication or bad controller that is connecting the C-LAN to the Xenta 527 In some instances when running the I/NET IO Server as a service and after a restart of the PC hardware running a Windows 10 Operating System, it is has been seen to produce this "No entries in database" error.  At this stage the reason is currently unknown but the connection to the Xenta 527 is not made and the IO Server service needs to be restarted. Resolution Open I/O Server Hit the Modify button In the Reference Host Column, add the IP address of the server Repeat steps 1-3 on the server, adding the IP address of the remote client. Note: Should the Xenta 527 still not communicate to the controller: Verify that the C-LAN wire is connected properly There is communications between the controllers and the Xenta 527 If not, unplug the C-Lan connector, from all the controllers and bring them online one at a time to determine which one could be bad. Replace possible bad controller and the system should come online again. To correct the issue after a PC hardware restart, two options are available Restart the I/O Server service Change the run mode of the I/O Server to an application.  See Running I/NET Seven as a service on Windows for further information on options on how to achieve this.

Offline detection between an Enterprise Server and a SmartX server

Issue How does the offline detection work between an Enterprise Server(ES) and a SmartX server Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Automation Server Premium Building Operation Automation Server Bundled Cause There is no online poll between an ES and a SmartX server, but the SmartX server will be considered as offline if it doesn't respond to any kind of message from the ES. Resolution The ES is constantly asking the SmartX server for new events and alarms so at least every second the ES will communicate with the SmartX server. If one of the messages from the ES is not responded by the SmartX server the ES will send out 3 more with a second in between, if no messages are answered by the SmartX server the ES will consider the SmartX server as offline. There is a 30 seconds delay before the offline alarm pops up in the alarm viewer in Workstation.

Xenta Server firmware versus Vista Server versions

Issue Does the Xenta Server firmware version have to match the TAC Vista Server version? Product Line TAC Vista Environment Xenta Servers Xenta 511, 527, 701, 711, 721, 731, 913 Vista Server Cause This situation usually occurs when upgrading a site. After the Vista software has been brought up to the latest version, does each Xenta Server also have to have its firmware upgraded to match? Resolution Whenever possible it is best to have the Xenta Server firmware version match the Vista Server version. However, if this is not possible, then ensure that the Vista Server is always of a later version than the Xenta Server. For example: a Vista 5.1.5 Server is okay with a Xenta 5.1.4 server, but a Vista 5.1.5 Server may not operate correctly with a Xenta 5.1.6 Server. The table below describes the compatibility between the TAC Vista Server, TAC XBuilder and TAC Xenta Server applications/firmware; third party dependency, e.g. java, not considered. More information about the table above including footnotes can be found in the document TAC Vista v5.1.8, TAC Xenta 500 700 900 v5.1.8 - Release Notes section 12.3. Consult the release notices for release software to identify defect corrections, new features, and potential changes in compatibility. If the versions are compatible then the decision to upgrade is up to the user, scheduling, and access to the units in the event of a failed upgrade units are remote. To upgrade a Xenta Server in Vista right click on the Xenta Server and select properties. Change the XBuilder Version property to the version of System Program and XBuilder being used. Note: In a specific situation there has been issues with the Xenta Server password in the properties window in Workstation. In this situation the Workstation was at version 5.1.8, the Xenta server was upgraded to 5.1.9, and then the XBuilder project was downloaded to the Xenta Server again. The Xenta Server was offline in Workstation. When the properties window was opened, the Xenta server password was much longer then it should have been. By reentering the password and clicking Okay, the Xenta Server came back online.

Report or Extended Trend Log not showing the most recent data

Issue Report or Extended Trend Log not showing the most recent data Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Interval Trend Logs Extended Trend Logs Cause The extended trend log will only pull information from the Trend log when the Threshold is reached. Resolution OPTION 1 - Use the maximum Transfer Interval property. Edit the Extended Trend Log Change the Maximum Transfer Interval property from "Disabled" to the maximum time you want to go between updates in the extended trend log. NOTE: You should not set every extended trend log to 1 minute as this will cause unneeded strain to the system. If you need current data, look at the Trend Log. Use Extended Trend Logs and Reports for Historic information. OPTION 2 - Use the Transfer trigger variable Create a Digital Value on the Enterprise Server. This can be controlled by a program or a schedule to force the Extended trend log to update before reports are run Edit the Extended Trend Log Set a the Transfer trigger variable as the Digital Value created above. There are many options with Extended Trend Logs, see System Reference Guide chapter 40. Additional Notes 1. Extra care should be taken when configuring B3 and Infinet Extended Trend Logs - See Technical Reference Guide for full details. "You configure extended trend logs differently in Infinet (and b3) devices than you configure extended trend logs in other EcoStruxure Building Operation devices. For example, you bind the Monitored trend log property to the Infinet device (and b3) point or value configured for trend logging. Also, the Threshold property is not relevant when monitoring extended trend logs regardless of the value you specify. Finally, you cannot use smart logs when configuring extended trend logs in Infinet devices (and b3). Instead of using smart logs, you use the Maximum transfer interval property to specify the transfer interval." (Technical Reference) 2. To debug logging issues the Force transfer is very helpful, Force transfer Executed by the user to manually force a transfer even though transfer threshold is not reached. (Right click on the Extended Trend Log/Activation/Force Transfer)

Issue If a Door is unlocked by schedule, for example, during business hours, a door ajar alarm is not available. How can you configure the door if the site would still like to receive a door ajar alarm, alerting them if someone goes through the door and leaves it ajar. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment CyberStation CX9900 CX9702 CX9680 ACX5720 ACX5740 Cause When a door is unlocked by schedule (or timed/permanent unlocked) the Continuum controller by design does not perform door ajar checking until the door re-locks. Migrating Continuum controllers from a stand alone system into an existing LAN system

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue What is the best practice for migrating controllers from a stand alone Continuum system into an active LAN system? Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Migrating Continuum Database Cause Controllers must be migrated from a stand alone system into an existing Continuum LAN system. The ACCID of some or all of the controllers on the stand alone system are already in use on the LAN system. Resolution All address conflicts should be dealt with before the controllers are brought onto the LAN system. With the workstation in Offline mode, each controller on the Stand alone system is manually created on the LAN system.  If the controllers ACC ID will conflict with a controller on the LAN system an appropriate change must be made when creating the controller on the LAN database. Where the controllers are BACnet controllers and the intent is to have all controller on the same network, the Network ID (UDP) id must be changed to match the id of the LAN system. The Comm2 network ID of each stand alone controller should be noted and should be changed in cases where the id is already in use on the LAN system. Import files should be used to build the IP level controllers
