Determining the default IP address for a UNC, ENC, or Jace 8000

Issue Documentation supplied with new UNC, ENC, or Jace 8000 was discarded.  Is there a way to determine the default, the factory-defined IP address, for the Ethernet port on the controller? Product Line TAC IA Series Environment I/A Series (Niagara) R2 UNC I/A Series (Niagara) G3 ENC Niagara N4 or G3 Jace 8000 Cause Lost or discarded document, shipped with the controller, that contained the configured IP address. Resolution The default Ethernet IP address for an I/A Series (Niagara) UNC or ENC is based on the serial number and type of device. For a UNC or ENC, the default address is 192.168.1.14X where X is the last digit of the device serial number.  The default serial number is found on a sticker on the controller circuit board.  This sticker has the full model number, date code, and the serial number of the controller.  The serial number is preceded with S/N:.The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 in all UNCs, ENCs, and Jace 8000 The default address base address (192.168.1.140) is the same for all UNC-410, UNC-510, UNC-520, ENC-410, and ENC-520 controllers. The default IP address of a Jace 8000 for PRI (LAN1) is 192.168.1.140.  SEC (LAN2) is by default disabled.

Changing the BACnet device instance of the SE7000 series room controllers.

Issue The Device ID and name in a BACnet SE7000 room controller is factory set to the model number plus the MAC address. By default the MAC is set to 254 in the room controller, meaning the device does not communicate since valid MAC addresses need to be in the range 0-127. In cases where multiple BACnet networks containing SE7000 BACnet room controllers are connected to the same BACnet internetwork there could be duplicate ID's when using this schema. In these instances a T7600 Device Configurator Tool can be used to change these fields. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation, EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment • Building Operation Workstation • Building Operation Automation Server • SSL SE7000 Cause The Device ID and name in a BACnet SE7000 room controller is factory set to the model number plus the MAC address. By default the MAC is set to 254 in the room controller, meaning the device does not communicate since valid MAC addresses need to be in the range 0-127. For example when a VT7200F5000B room controller with a MAC address of 41 is connected to a network, its default Device Name will be VT7200F5x00B-41 and its default Device ID will be 72041. The device ID and name will change as soon as the MAC address is changed at the controller. The MAC address is set in the Installer configuration parameter menu using the Com Addr parameter. These fields can also be set by any BACnet management tool that can access these properties. Resolution The goal of this document is to give simple instructions on how to change the Device Instance of the VT7000 series thermostats using the T7600 Device Configurator tool and the recommended connections and wiring. 1. Converter (can be other models): Model 485OT9Lor USOTL4 from B&B Electronics. A USB-to-RS485 converter, like one used for MSTP captures, will work as well.  2. Recommended wiring for the configuration of Device Instances: The SE7000 room controllers have to be connected only to the converter (which has to be powered up) and disconnected from the network controller. The EOL resistors should remain at both ends of the trunk. 3. Setting up the software The software is supplied as a simple installer file download the software from here and run the installer. Prior to running the program for the first time setup steps 4 and 5 must to be accomplished. 4. Setting Windows Compatibility mode The T7600 Device Configurator Tool is legacy tool and therefore is only supported in a Windows 9X operating system, It has been tested and found to work in later versions of Windows by setting the compatibility mode to Windows 95 Locate the executable file T7600_MSTP_Config.exe in the C:\Program Files\Fastek\T7600 Config\ folder. Right click the file and select properties Go to the compatibility tab and change select Run this program in compatibility mode for: "Windows 95" from the drop down menu then click OK 5. Set the PC communications port Open the BACDOCM.ini located in the C:\Windows folder and enter communications port number in the line highlighted below and save the file. If a valid com port is not entered here the program will generate errors when launched and will not operate. Instructions on how to use the converter (file T7x00 MSTP Config.exe): 1. Open the configuration Tool 2. Double click on the BACDOOR icon in the icon tray on the bottom right of the PC. 3. On the window BACDOOR OEM MSTP Client status, click configure and in the configuration window set the Device instance to any number that does not conflict with any other device instance on the network.: 4. Close the BACDOOR configuration window and in the T7000 Device Configurator, click refresh device list. 6. All the devices on the trunk should appear and you can start changing the device instances one after the other. To do that: a. A- Select the first device.     B- Click Connect to device. The connection process can be long, wait for all the objects to be discovered.     C- change the instance ID using the keyboard.     D- click Apply changes. b. Select the next device and do the same. c. Repeat this action for all the discovered devices. 7. After making all the recommended changes, remove the RS-485 to 232 converter and reconnect the network.

Cannot bind a SE7000 Series controller to a MPM controller

Issue The SE7000 Series controller will not bind to a MPM controller with Building Expert version 2.7. SE7000 controller is not listed in the discovery window when a bind is performed.  Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation, EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment Building Operation Workstation Building Operation Automation Server SSL SE7000 SSL MPM Cause It was determined that the SE7000 controller had the old Zigbee module installed. Starting with Building Expert 2.7, the SE7000 Series stats requires the newer Zigbee Pro module in order to connect to the MPM controller. You can determine if the new module is installed by the part number printed on the Zigbee module. The old Zigbee module has a label with the part number 051-0125R01 printed in it. Resolution The older Zigbee module will have to be replaced with the new Zigbee Pro module, and can be field replaced. The newer Zigbee Pro module can be ordered using part number VCM7000V5045P. The actual part number that will appear on the new Zigbee Pro module label is 051-0132R00.  The module is the smaller PCB board mounted on the left side of the main PCB board.  1. Remove the SE7000 controller’s cover.  2. Carefully remove the Zigbee module form the main board.     * The main PCB board is hinged on the left and is held in place by two tabs on the right      * Gently press the tabs to the right to release the main PCB board and swing it open      * Gently depress the 2 plastic mounts that hold the Zigbee module to the main PCB board     * Remove the Zigbee module being careful not to damage the connection pins. 3. Replace with the new Zigbee module (051-0132R00) 4. Replace the cover. 5. Configure the Zigbee network of the SE7000 controller  You should now be able to discover the SE7000 controller in the MPM.

Duplicated segment and object names prior to EBO transition

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Issue SigmaX - checking for duplicated segment and object names prior to EBO transition Product Line Satchwell Sigma Environment SigmaX Cause Checking for duplicated segment and object names prior to transitioning Sigma to EBO. Resolution With EBO, names cannot be duplicated within the same folder or segment, however in Sigma they could be, it was only the mnemonic that had to be different. When Data Importing into EBO, duplicated names are revised by adding a postfix to the duplicated name e.g. if there are two ‘room temperature’ then the 2nd one is revised to ‘room temperature2’ so that the Data Import can continue to proceed. In SigmaX, a report can be generated that will itemize any duplicated index or object names. Within SigmaX, these duplications can be renamed to a name of your choosing. Once, this is done, the Data Import will use the new names. This video with SigmaX is the second of three videos, the first SigmaX Quick Help Video will check for database errors primarily 'A' errors and the third video will check for Programmable Objects with different types of RETURN statements. When launching the SigmaX application, see the Knowledge Base articles for Side by Side errors and errors regarding missing SigmaX files should they occur.

Troubleshooting AS configuration issues with IP address

Issue Default IP Address for AS,TCP/IP IPv6, and StruxureWare Building Operation Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation site Cause Attempted to ping AS and got "Request timed out." (AS does not have a default IP address) After going through StruxureWare Building Operation Device Administrator's Open Console which is also referred to as PuTTY(outlined below #1), the configuration has the proper: Hostname DHCP enabled/disabled IP address Subnet mask Default gateway DNS server Domain name Still the ping of the AS IP address receives "Request timed out"  Is this from a Virtual environment? See Resolution 6 below. Resolution Check the following settings: Use Device Administrator to set a static IP address for an Automation Server. Connect the Automation Server to the PC's USB port In Device Administrator, select the Automation Server you want to set the IP address for. On the View menu, click Console which opens console or PuTTY.  See NOTE below if Console icon not shown. If you are prompted to type a login name, default is "admin". Press Enter. If you are prompted to type a password, default is "admin". Press Enter. Type "setip". Press Enter. If you want to change the host name, delete the current host name and type a new host name. Press Enter. Type "no" to use a static IP address. Press Enter. Type the IP address for the Automation Server. Press Enter. Type the subnet mask. Press Enter. Type the default gateway address. Press Enter. Type the DNS server address. Press Enter. Type the domain name. Press Enter. Type "yes" to write the configuration. Press Enter. After the Network settings, "successfully updated" message is displayed, Type "exit" to log off. Press Enter. Rather than connect through a router or switch, plug the Ethernet cable directly into the AS. Ethernet port is AutoSensing (No Crossover Cable required). Adjust IP settings to close proximity IP and Subnet, such as the following example: Computer IP=192.168.1.2 Computer Subnet=255.255.255.0 Automation Server IP=192.168.1.5 Automation Server Subnet=255.255.255.0 Have only one NIC or network card enabled in Network Settings on this computer In Network Settings, uncheck the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), which will disable. TCP/IP Version 6 is the latest version of the internet protocol which provides communication across diverse interconnected networks which is not necessary for this configuration. If you are using a virtual environment, exit that virtual environment and attempt the configuration from the real-world environment.  If AS hangs or comes up with the Status light in red: Start Device Administrator and establish a USB connection between the computer and AS. Press the reset button on the AS three times in a row to place it in DFU mode. The AS will disappear from the Device Administrator and re-appear in DFU mode. Perform Upgrade device operation. The AS can be configured using DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) using Device Manager. It is recommended to not use DHCP but rather Static IP addresses. If the IP of the AS/ES changes, then reconfiguration of other AS/ES, or BACnet/IP, Modbus/IP interface needs to be changed also. NOTE: Beginning with StruxureWare Building Operation release 1.4.0, the Device Administrator no longer displays the "Console" icon on its toolbar. You can still access the PuTTY console by holding down the shift key and right-clicking on the automation server. You will have the option to open 'Console'. NOTE: Some network configuration setting changes may be prevented by the connected network. If you have issues getting the AS to save changes, disconnect the AS from the ethernet and use the USB connection only.
