Controller configured with an XDriver interface keeps resetting and dumping its database.

Issue Controller resets sporadically, when it comes back online there is no database found in the controller (all points have been deleted) and it needs to be reloaded. After reloading, the Controller responds very slowly and time SystemVariables such as Date, Minute, Hour, are not updating. Environment Netcontroller II (CX9680) Cause The problem ended up being traced down to some XDriver points that were configured with an annex point that was also configured as an XDriver point. They were fighting each other. Resolution Removed the XDriver point configured as an annex point in another XDriver point and the Controller started to respond normally.

When you attempt to create SNVT binding you get the following error. "Error saving the variable connection !"

Issue When you attempt to create SNVT binding you the following error. The message output pane shows the following text. Environment NL220 Cause The SNVTs setup in Menta has not had the correct send or poll option set. Resolution Select the send option on the Digital/Analog output setup as a NVO SNVT from the Menta application   This will allow the change of value connection which will assist with network traffic bandwidth. If you set poll in the option on the Digital/Analog input the NVI will poll the output at the specified time set in the input regardless of a change in value. When you generate the modified Menta file the program ID will be changed so an update of NL220 and the Xenta controller is required. To do this save the modified Menta file to the hard drive, browse the updated Menta file from the configure option on the Xenta controller in the system plugin. Then update Vista and download the controller.

Control LED lights via RP-C relays

Issue Is it possible to use the RP-C relays to control LED Light?  The specification sheet does not specify the maximum inrush current. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Room Controller (RPC) 24 V Building Operation Room Controller (RPC) 230 V Cause RP-C is not designed for switching light loads, and especially not LED loads. LED loads will result in a very high inrush current and require relays that are designed for that. Furthermore, the light application often requires relays that keep the light on in case of power failures which is not the case for RP-C. Resolution The CRS light modules and the Hotel Relay modules have that type of relays and can handle peak currents up to 800A, which is typical for LED loads. If using the CRS modules is not an option for the customer another possibility is to use a contactor connected to the RP-C.

Priority 16 is writing zero (0) values in IP Controller

Issue IP Controller is getting incorrect overrides at Priority 16. The room control unit is writing to Priority 16 which is then writing to multiple setpoints with a zero (0) value in the function block program, causing programming to fail. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Workstation Building Operation Automation Server Cause Even though priority 16 and the Value can sometimes be synonymous, they are still separate Objects The room control unit is writing to Priority 16 AND the Value has been set to Zero.   The value is set to 0  Writing directly to priority 16 from the room control unit Resolution The best practice would be to:  Bind to the Value Object from the room control unit and also set the retain level under Value rather than biding to and setting Retain level on Priority 16

Allowable objects that can be Imported / Exported in StruxureWare Building Operation

Issue When importing shortcuts the following warning/error occur WARNING: The property, Target, xxxxxxxx, which has been ignored. Binding Limitations across multi-server configurations Environment SmartStruxure 1.2 / 1.3 Cause Building Operation does not import bindings in a multi-server scenario. If bindings are included in an exported solution, Building Operation displays a warning that the references were not created during an import. Therefore, you must manually recreate referenced bindings: From the Enterprise Server to a value on an Automation Server From an Automation Server to a value on the Enterprise Server From an Automation Server to a value on another Automation Server As a shortcut is basically a binding between two objects, then this holds true in this instance. Resolution Although bindings can be created (hence shortcuts created) across multi-server environments once you export these objects and then attempt to import these at later time or import across a different server, these bindings will be removed. The import process will provide a message "WARNING: The property, Target, , which has been ignored"; these objects are listed in the warning box.  A "Copy to clipboard" option is available so that these can be copied to Notepad (or similar) and then manually re-entered. Refer to the following help topic (you will need to login to the Online help to view this information). http://help.sbo.schneider-electric.com/topics/show.castle?id=5528&locale=en-US&productversion=1.3&a=1

Is it possible for 3rd party software to access Vista's SQL log database?

Issue Is it possible for 3rd party software to access Vista's SQL log database (taclogdata)? Environment Vista 5.1.x SQL 2005/2008  Cause There are many sites where the customer wishes to collect information from different systems and present them in a standard format such as excel or a custom application. By accessing the raw log data from Vista this can be presented in a format the customer is familiar with. Resolution Assuming that Vista and SQL are installed and running, start by downloading the appropriate version of SQL Management Studio i.e. if you have Vista 5.1.8 with a standard installation of SQL 2008R2 Express then search for "SQL 2008 R2 Express management studio" to come to a download link. Once downloaded and installed:  -Start Management Studio and connect to the instance of SQL being used (default is localhost\TACVISTA) -Go to the security folder in the Object explorer and expand it. -Right-click on "Logins" and select "New Login". -Fill in the details as desired ie name, password and SQL authentication. -Under User Mapping settings select the taclogdata database and grant at least db_datareader rights. -Click on OK. This user name and password can then be used by third party applications to query the SQL database.

When using the User Entry option in a Graphic to enter a value, the decimal place in the number is dropped.

Issue When using the User Entry option in a Graphic to enter a value, the decimal place in the number is dropped. Entering a 1.5 in the Graphic User Entry results in 15 showing up in the linked object, entering 0.5 results in 5. Fig.1 - Configuring User Entry   Fig.2 - Inputting value in User Entry "calculator"  Environment Continuum Cyberstation Windows Regional Settings Cause The decimal symbol in Regional Settings was set to a comma (,) instead of a period (.). The Region and Language Format was set to French (Canada) which by default uses a comma as the decimal symbol. When using the User Entry "calculator" to enter a decimal number the correct decimal symbol needs to be used. Using a period when it is set to a comma in regional settings results in the symbol not being typed at all. WebReports Reporting Agent Service continuously restarts

Issue Reporting Agent continuously restarts Windows Event logs show appcrash for Reporting Service  Trend / Event data no longer transferring to WebReports / Report Server.   Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Report Server  Cause If there are bindings within the Extended Trend Log that is from itself (so a cyclic loop). By default when you select the Transfer trigger variable the SmartLog property is selected (as shown below).  This is an invalid configuration but can be accidentally configured and saved.    This will cause the ES read to go into an infinite loop and cause the application to eventually restart (crash).  By setting the Reporting Agent to Debug (using the SBO Reports Agent Config - Communities (se.com)) the last few messages before the restart within the log file will show messages related to "Entering IncludeLogInReports()" with the same set of Extended trend Logs repeat (if there is more than one).  The image below shows an example of the Extended Trend Log shown in the above screenshot.    Resolution After locating the relevant extended trend logs with these invalid bindings, delete these invalid bindings and restart the Reporting Agent service and the data should then be read correctly.     Remember to revert the log level back to INFO before restarting the agent to not overload the logs with too much detail.

Escort or double card swipe required at a door.

Issue Does Continuum support Escorted or double card swipe requirements? Environment ACX57xx, AC1 range Cause Some specifications call for 2 valid cards to be presented before the door is released, also called the 2 man rule. Resolution Continuum does not support the requirement for escorting or double card swipe requirements, if a valid card is swiped at a door it will release. One possible workaround could be to have 2 readers (doors) each opening an output relay. Then wire the two relays in series, such that both outputs need to be On to power the door magnetic lock. So the personnel and the supervisor (or Escort) both need to present their card to their respective readers at the same time to open the door.
