Sigma - Can Sigma devices be connected to an Cat7 Ethernet network?

Issue Sigma devices connected to an Ethernet Cat7 network? Environment Network Ethernet Cat5e Cat6 Cat7 Cause Connecting Sigma devices to a Cat7 network. Resolution Ethernet networks are categorised by numbers, 5e, 6 and 7 for instance. These numbers refer to the cable types used and the speed they are capable of communicating at. With this in mind, Sigma devices mostly communicate at 100M, so as long as the switches they are connected to will communicate at this speed, Cat5, 6 or 7 does not matter. Below is some general information on the Cat numbers. Cat5/5e. This is the older standard for Ethernet cabling, used by older equipment which was capable of either 10BaseT (10MBs) or 100BaseT (100MBs). These cables used 4-pair, twisted, unshielded cable. Cat6 Increases cable's frequency rate to 250MHz, instead of the Cat5 and Cat5e's 100MHz spec. It allows faster and more reliable transfer speeds, especially when combined with Cat6's improved insulating qualities. In fact, these two features combined make both Gigabit and even 10-Gigabit speeds possible, though the maximum cable length is halved to around 55m when using the latter. Cat7 Increases cable's frequency rate to 1000MHz, To achieve this, shielding has been added for individual wire pairs and the cable as a whole. Besides the foil shield, the twisting of the pairs and number of turns per unit length increases RF shielding and protects from crosstalk.

How to delay an Input alarm and send as an email

Issue Need to delay an Input from going into alarm before sending that alarm to an email recipient. Product Line EcoStruxure Security Expert Environment Security Expert Cause Have a requirement to email alarms for Door inputs that are not actually tied to Door records. Resolution One method of configuring this is to use an Area: Add the Input to the Area to trigger an alarm Configure that alarm event into an Email using an Action.  See the following detailed steps:  Under Programming: Inputs Configure the Alarm Input Speed option for the Input. "Backup should include historical data!" error when upgrading to StruxureWare Building Operation 1.4

Issue While upgrading to StruxureWare Building Operation 1.4, the upgrade fails due and the following error occurs. Backup should include historical data! Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Upgrade Backup Historical data 1.4 Cause A Configuration Only backup was done to the AS prior to upgrading the database.  Resolution The upgrade workflow process described at StruxureWare Building Operation Web Help calls for the AS or ES to be backed up at the beginning of the upgrade process.  A note at the end of section 10.2.1 of the release notes for 1.4 state the following: Automation Server will now upgrade in a two stage process where the first step copies the backup file from the Automation Server to the PC running Device Administrator and does all of the necessary activities to upgrade the database. In order for this to be accomplished the backup that is kept in the Automation Server must include historical data. If the backup stored in the Automation Server is Configuration only, the upgrade will fail. The workaround is: Run another backup and include historical data Remove and re-add, from the Device Administrator, the AS with the failed message. Re-run the upgrade.

What is the part numbering scheme for the new ACX57xx and NetcontrollerII controllers?

Issue Ordering a specific controller with the options required seems complicated. What do each of the options mean and how do I build the part number for the controller I want? Environment ACX57xx Netcontroller II Cause The parts list is huge and there does not seem to be detailed information on how to organize each character in the part number to get the controller with the options that you want. Resolution ACX Series Part Numbering Scheme ACX Series part numbering has been structured to make it easier to choose and find the right corresponding part number. All part numbers consist of 13 characters. Configurable options use unique letters so that features cannot be confused. A zero, specifically a "0", is used when a feature is not enabled in the desired configuration. To order an ACX Series controller, follow the scheme described in the PDF here to determine the appropriate part number. (Note: you MUST login to Buildings Download Center to view/download the document)   NetController II Part Numbering Scheme NetController II part numbering has been structured to make it easier to choose and find the right corresponding part number. All part numbers consist of 15 characters. Configurable options use unique letters so that features cannot be confused. A zero, specifically a "0", is used when a feature is not enabled in the desired configuration. All NetController II units are configured to support 32 IOU modules, and will come standard with Ethernet and full use of 128 MB of memory. There is no need to specify this in the part number. To order a NetController II, follow the scheme described in the PDF here to determine the appropriate part number. (Note: you MUST login to Buildings Download Center to view/download the document)

What sensors can be used for measuring air pressure in ducts?

Issue How to measure absolute pressure in an air system? Environment SPD310, SPD360 Cause Only Differential air pressure sensors are listed in the catalogue. Resolution The SPD310 & SPD360 are the only Air Pressure transmitters we have in the Sensors Catalogue, however these should be suitable for measuring pressures most Air based systems. They can be used to measure the differential pressure across fans or dampers, but you can leave one side of the sensor open to the plant room atmospheric pressure and the other side connected in to the duct, that way it will measure the pressure in the duct relative to that days atmospheric pressure. This method will mean the air pressure coming out of the system relative to the room remains constant as atmospheric pressure changes. The SPD360 has the added local LCD display showing the differential pressure in Pascals. Note: There are air pressure switches and meters also available in the catalogue.
