New graphic opens in a very small pane at the edge of the screen

Issue Most systems have an Overview Graphic of the whole building.  The user then navigates from this graphic to specific floors and rooms of interest. If the Workspace is configured incorrectly, navigating to a newly selected graphic does not work as expected. The overview graphic does not disappear and the new graphic is forced to open very small at the edge of the screen. Product Line Building Operation Enterprise Server Environment Workspaces Cause The standard Administration and Engineering Workspaces used in EBO contain a Work Area Window (WAW) which is necessary 'space' to show a selected graphic/trend/schedule If an Overview Graphic Pane is created in a Customer Workspace and this graphic takes up most of the screen, there is no space left to show the new object which the customer wishes to see Note: The Overview Graphic 'Building' is now shown in a Graphic Viewer only   When the system tries to open a new graphic, there is not space to open it in, The graphic is forced to open at the very edge of the screen and is therefore very small. Resolution General information about creating and using Graphic Panes, Work Area Windows and Panel Components can be found in the EBO webhelp, But for specific information on how to prevent a graphic opening at the edge of the screen see below.  Rather than adding a Graphic Pane to the Workspace to show the Overview Graphic add a Work Area Window (WAW) instead. Next, define the required Overview graphic as the initial path for the WAW on startup so the Overview graphic opens at user log on. Note: The Overview graphic 'Building' is now shown in the WAW rather than the Graphic Viewer. Graphics will always close themselves on navigation to the next object by default when used with a WAW (this can be changed). As soon as the user needs to navigate away from the overview page to a new graphic/schedule/trend, the system can use the WAW which will then use most of the screen as the 'space' to show it. In this case, as soon as the link to the next graphic 'Floor' is pressed, the first graphic 'Building' closes according to its default and the new object is shown in its place.

Moving an Energy Expert database to a new server

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue An Energy Expert system is being moved to a new server and/or the virtual image is being upgraded. The historical records held in the SQL database of the Power Monitoring Expert (PME) system need to be backed up and properly restored on to the new server. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Energy Expert (formally Power Manager) Power Monitoring Expert (PME) Enterprise Server Cause The system administrator has deemed it necessary to upgrade the Windows server that the Energy Expert system is installed on for security and/or resource reasons. Resolution It is important to remember that an Energy Expert installation is really just two Schneider Electric offers, EcoStruxure Building Operation and Power Monitoring Expert, installed together and set up to pass information back and forth. This means that appropriate steps must be followed for each system to backup the historical data and properly restore it on the new server. For more detail regarding how the system is laid out, please see the Difference between EcoStruxure Energy Expert (Power Manager) and Power Monitoring Expert (PME). Steps to move an Energy Expert database Backup the Power Monitoring Expert (PME) SQL database, dashboards and reports. The Configuration Manager tool available on the Exchange can be used to back all of these items up automatically. Run the tool on the existing server and it will create a zip file to be used later on when restoring to the new server. See Migrating a PME 8.0 System to a New Server for more information. The Schneider Electric Technical FAQs website also contains many other helpful troubleshooting articles for PME including different versions of the product. Return the Energy Expert license(s) from the Floating License manager in order to move them to the new server. For more information see Video: Licensing Guide for Power Monitoring Expert (PME) 8.x and 7.2.x and ENM 8.3.x. If moving the Enterprise Server, make a historical backup of the EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) ES from the existing server. See Backup of StruxureWare/EcoStruxure Building Operation AS and ES for more information. If the Enterprise Server and other EBO licenses are installed on the existing server, then they may need to be returned as well so they can be moved to the new server. See Removing a Local License or Returning a Network License for more information. Next the ETL project files must be retrieved and saved so they can be moved to the new server (if using architecture 1 in the Energy Expert offer). Go to the file location below and save all ETL project files that are needed on the new server. C:\Program Files > Schneider Electric > ETL X.X (SBO to PME) > Jobs If moving the Enterprise Server, install the EBO software on the new server, rehost the EBO licenses, and restore the EBO server backup(s). See Restoring the EcoStruxure BMS Server for more information. Install the Energy Expert software (the software includes PME, ETL and the integration utility). The information on how to download the Energy Expert software can be found on the Exchange. Once the software has been installed, the Energy Expert license can be hosted to the new server in the Floating License manager. Next, install the PME Configuration Manager tool on the new server. The zip file from step 1 can be loaded using this tool to restore the SQL database, PME dashboards and PME reports. Add the previously saved ETL project files to the same location on the new server C:\Program Files > Schneider Electric > ETL X.X (SBO to PME) > Jobs Since the server has changed, the configuration settings must be updated in the ETL projects to reflect the new server name. The settings in the EWS interface on the EBO server will also need to be updated as well. Note: It may be easier to delete the existing EWS interface in EBO and then use the integration utility to create a new XML import file to simply rebuild the interface.

Mass importing User Photos into Security Expert using Data Sync Service

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Issue Need a method for mass importing User photos for creating / updating the Users for a Security Expert site. Product Line Security Expert Environment Security Expert Security Expert Data Sync Service (SX-DB-SYNC) Cause Data Sync Service is typically used to import data from the third party system.  In this instance, a CSV file containing the data to be imported into the Security Expert database is used. The Data Sync Service is configured to monitor the folder where this CSV file is located and automatically (if configured) import the relevant data into Security Expert, creating records (including users, access levels, areas, doors, schedules, and so on) for each matched entity. Resolution The Data Sync Service can be used to map specific fields from a CSV file to fields within Security Expert. One of those fields can be the User photos. Below is a guide on how to implement this.   1. Directory Setup Before opening the Security Expert Data Sync Service, it is necessary to setup a CSV file and directory for the Data Sync Service to work with. The only requirement for now is that each image must have a unique name and that the folder housing the images must be called "Photos". Figure 1 shows an example folder structure: Note: The names of the folder, CSV file and image names are not critical. As long as the image names match what is in the CSV file.   2. CSV File A CSV file is a comma separated file with each row being a separate record and columns (fields) separated by comma's. An example CSV is shown below:   UniqueID,FirstName,LastName,AccessLevel,PIN 101,First,User,Visitor,1284 102,Second,User,Visitor,5618 Note: The UniqueID field will need to be the file name of the Users image. For the below example CSV, two images must be present in /Photos/ with the names 101.jpg and 102.jpg.   3. Security Expert Operator It is recommended that a new Security Expert Operator is added for importing from the Data Sync Service. This ensures that records that have been added / modified / deleted by the Data Sync Service can easily be identified. To proceed past the Data Target section the Show PIN numbers for Users option must be enabled in the Operator object.   4. Data Target Now that an Operator, directory and CSV have been set up, open Security Expert Data Sync Service and follow these steps: Select Security Expert from the Target System dropdown. Confirm the SOAP Server Address. If the defaults were accepted during the installation of the SOAP Service, enter http://localhost:8030/SecurityExpertSOAPService/service.svc. Enter the Username of an Operator. Enter the Password for that Operator. From the Site dropdown, select the Site that the records are to be imported to. All Sites that have been added in Security Expert will be available in the dropdown. Overwrite the Site ID during the field mapping process if the records are imported to different Sites within a single import. Note: The rest of the fields on the Configuration window are disabled until a valid Server Address, Username and Password have been entered.   5. Sync Options Set the Resynchronize Every time to a time interval over which the service should resync data. Tick the Enable Error Log checkbox to populate the Event Viewer with events that will make error solving simpler.  6. Data Mapping  Configure the records and import file with the following steps. Select Users from the Record to Sync drop-down.  In the File Directory field, enter the created folder. If importing a single file, enter the name of the file in the Import File field. If the checkbox is left unticked, all files in the File Directory will be imported. From the File Format drop-down, select Delimited. If the import file is a CSV, select {CR}{LF} as the Row and {Comma} as Column delimiters. Enable the option to Start Import At Row 2 to skip the header.    7. Field Mapping The data mapping phase allows CSV columns (Source Column) to be mapped to a record type in the Security Expert Database (Target Field). To import the example CSV, the field mapping must be configured as below. Link a Target Field and Source Column, simply select both in the interface, complete the following: Link the following [Target Field : Source Column]: ImageID : 1, First Name : 2, Last Name : 3, UserAccessLevelGroupDataData > UserAccessLevel : 4 PINNumber : 5, Select ImageID (Column 1) as the Unique Field. For UserAccesLevel, open the Advanced Data Configuration by clicking the [ … ] button. Ensure that Use This Field As The Group Data Identifier is set and Grouping Type is Singular Data. Ensure Target Field Record Type is ticked and set to Access Levels. Click Save and then Start to begin the syncing of Users. 8. Troubleshooting If troubleshooting is required, examine the following logs: All Events - In Security Expert under Monitoring > Status Page View, open the All Events view to view Data Sync Service events. Event Viewer - Open the Windows Event Viewer and navigate to Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > Schneider Electric Security Expert event log.

TAC Vista Conversion Tool converts TAC Xenta I/O modules from LonWorks units to SlaveSpeak devices

Issue TAC Xenta I/O modules that are added as LonWorks units in TAC Vista, are converted to Xenta I/O modules belonging to a Xenta Base unit (SlaveSpeak devices) in EcoStruxure Building Operation, after conversion using TAC Vista Conversion Tool. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation, TAC Vista Environment Vista Server TAC Vista Conversion tool Xenta Xenta I/O-modules Cause In TAC Vista, the Xenta I/O modules are normally located on the same subnet as the Xenta Base unit, and belong to the Xenta Base unit, communicating as SlaveSpeak devices. If a Xenta I/O module is located on another subnet than the Xenta base unit, it could instead be added as a LonWorks Unit in Vista, and therefore communicating via LonWorks bindings to the Xenta base unit using SNVTs. Vista Conversion Tool does not handle this configuration. In the conversion tool, all Xenta I/O modules are expected to be connected directly to a Xenta base unit, located on the same Subnet, and are therefore always treated as SlaveSpeak devices. Resolution After running the Vista Conversion tool, you have to re-build the LonWorks Bindings between the Xenta I/O module and the Xenta Base unit manually in EBO, as the Conversion Tool does not handle the actual configuration setup.

Datasheet specifies contact rating as “Pilot Duty”

Issue The datasheet for DO-FA-12 says: Contact rating .......................250 VAC/30 VDC, 2 A, Pilot Duty (Power Factor 0.35) What does "Pilot Duty" mean? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Automation Server Bundled (AS-B) Building Operation IO-module Cause The datasheet specifies the rating class of the relays.  Understanding what "Pilot Duty" means is needed in order to know what load can be controlled by the relay. Resolution A "Pilot Duty" rating means that this relay is made for a specific highly inductive load, such as controlling the coil of another relay or contactor. Contacts with a "Pilot Duty" rating have passed standardized testing to prove they can reliably control a "Pilot Duty" load. In another example the datasheet of a device may say: Relay contact rating 250 VAC / 30 VDC, 2 A Pilot Duty (C300) In this case C300 indicates the rating of the relay, according to the UL 508 standard. The start current of a motor could damages the relays in case the current is too high. The start current could be up to 8 times the rated current, or more.

How to use the new Graphic Components released with Building Operation 2.0

Issue Cannot find documentation on how to use the new Graphic components release with EBO 2.0 Getting the following errors when previewing my graphic page: "Script error in function "onLoad" .... ReferenceError: "_firstRun" is not defined "Script error in function "onChange" ... ReferenceError: "_setVisuals" is not defined The component added to the graphic shows no binding label in the WorkStations edit bindings window Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation. Environment Building Operation Graphic Editor 2.0 and above GlobalScripts V2.0.0262 and above Cause With the release of EBO 2.0, a set of new components/snippets have been released, which are different from those issued in earlier releases, although there is very little change visually. The scripting, in most cases but not all, has been removed from the components themselves and put into single scripts. This means we can take advantage of the functionality of the global script. This requires the user to set the UseGlobalScripts attribute to True within the TGML graphic editor, which can be on a per-graphic basis and ensures that existing graphics will still function. Once turned to True, all components with scripts and requirements for other global scripts to function correctly can function as designed. For example, the setpoint box requires global scripts to ensure units and decimal places are displayed as designed/required due to the scripts. There are also two binds available on the box, one for reading and one for writing. Both need to be bound to enable the component to function correctly.  The components are designed this way to allow use in BACnet, where it may require reading the resultant Value but Writing at a specific Priority. Without the scripts added to the graphic, the component cannot function. For further details/questions, refer to the following Community Posts, which also include the current PDF documentation: Help-with-an-EBO-2-0-component EcoStruxure-Building-Operation/Graphic-Component-Library-Rev-AB1-002-pdf NAM Standards Team TGML Component Library - Communities (se.com) This article provides the necessary steps required to enable and get these new components working and does not provide in-depth functionality. Resolution Within Graphics Editor, enable UseGlobalScripts. To do this: Select the -Tgml object shown in the Objects pane In the Properties pane Change the UseGlobalScripts from False to True In the Global Graphic Snippets: Drag the GlobalScripts V2.0.xxxx onto the -Tgml object.  GlobalScripts then appends as shown below. Note: This must be done before adding any components and ONLY once on each Graphic page. Add a Component by dragging it into the Design window. Example showing the Component: Analogue Single Line Text, 100W Add Snippets to allow the relevant Bindings to be added to this component.  To do this: Select the Snippets tab, Select Select Global Bind Snippets Drag the appropriate snippet onto the Component. EcoStruxure Analog Value bind snippet is added to the Analogue Value component Save the graphic Preview - no errors should appear.  If there are errors: Ensure that the scripts/components have been added in the correct order Ensure the correct Snippet has been added to the correct Component.  Refer to the Graphic-Component-Library-Rev-AB1-002-pdf documentation for the tested snippets/component combinations. Issue Need help configuring ETR501/ETR503 setpoint feature. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment AS IO b3 Cause The ETR50x Series sensors support a slider that can be used by the occupants to change the temperature setpoint of the controlled space. Resolution SENSOR CONNECTED TO AS IO MODULE Create a resistive input on an IO module such as the UI16 and wire the slider from the ETR50x unit to the resistive input on the IO module. Move the slider all the way to the left and take note of the value reading at the input. Move the slider all the way to the right and take note of the value reading at the input. Configure the input's conversion using the values noted from steps 2 and 3 as the bottom and top of the electrical scale (see screen shot below) Use desired setpoint values for the top and bottom of the engineering scale, in the example below the slider will allow changing the setpoint between 68 and 78, note that the units has been set to degrees F for readability. Navigation to the webpage was canceled using a URL in Workstation

Issue Clicking on a URL in Workstation gives the error message "Navigation to the webpage was canceled". Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation WorkStation Cause The website owner has added additional code to prevent their webpage from being displayed in a 3rd party application e.g. EBO. However, the webpage can be viewed in a web browser e.g. IE, Chrome or Firefox. This additional measure makes use of a feature called X-Frame-Options and is used to prevent 'clickjacking' and prevents embedding in other websites. In 2009 Internet Explorer 8 introduced a new HTTP header X-Frame-Options which offered partial protection against clickjacking and was shortly after adopted by other browsers (Safari, Firefox, Chrome and Opera). The header, when set by the website owner, declares its preferred framing policy: values of DENY, SAMEORIGIN, or ALLOW-FROM origin will prevent any framing, framing by external sites, or allow framing only by the specified site, respectively. See Mozilla article for further information. Resolution If a web site implements the usage of X-Frame-Options to limit which other web sites it can be embedded into, there is nothing to be done about that. It is the providers' decision, and cannot be circumvented. In Building Operation release 1.9 and later, there are two global policy settings used to protect Building Operation presented web content, so it is resilient against clickjacking. Option 1 - Enable external content to be embedded in WebStation This option must be selected to permit another web page to be rendered in a WebStation <frame> or <iframe>. To protect against clickjacking for all use cases, this option should be turned off. Option 2 - Enable WebStation to be embedded in another site This option permits Building Operation web pages to be rendered in a <frame> or <iframe> from the local server. If this option is selected with option 1, then there is no protection against clickjacking. The most secure and recommended configuration is when both options are turned off. However, when an application requires embedded web content, one or both these options can be turned on. Since this is a global policy, these settings will affect all embedded content. If only some content is required to be embedded then there is no solution or workaround within EBO unless the website owner can remove or change this feature.

Upgrading SQL Express to a paid Edition of SQL for EcoStruxure Reports Server

Issue Upgrading SQL Express to a paid Edition of SQL for EcoStruxure Reports Server Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment WebReports Reports Server SQL Express Cause SQL Express 2008 R2 (for example) is limited to 10 Gb of Storage and 1 Gb of Ram usage. Many sites need a larger, more robust database than this allows. Resolution NOTICE: Before beginning, it is important to understand the difference between the Instance name and the version of SQL running.  The default instance name used in the the SQL Express version of SQL is SQLEXPRESS. This can be changed to anything during installation, but cannot be changed later.  This means that when upgrading to SQL Enterprise edition, the SQL instance name will still need to be SQLEXPRESS. The instruction below assumes the instance name is SQLEXPRESS and will be typed in that manner.   Perform a full backup of the Enterprise Server and Reports Server before beginning any upgrade process. Save these files to an external drive. Purchase a supported edition of SQL for the revision of EcoStruxure Building Operation WebReports being used. Please check the data sheet for the release to obtain this information. Open the Command Prompt and Browse to the location of the installation files for SQL. This should be the folder containing the setup.exe file for the new version of SQL Enter the Command "setup /ACTION=editionupgrade /INSTANCENAME=SQLEXPRESS /PID=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" NOTE:If  not using the default instance name, enter the correct instance name in place of SQLEXPRESS. PID is the product ID that came with the installation media. In some cases, this will be left out of the command string and entered later. (setup /ACTION=editionupgrade /INSTANCENAME=SQLEXPRESS) The SQL Installer will open. After the Setup Support Rules operation runs, click OK Click Next Verify the Product Key and click Next. Accept the License Agreement and click Next Ensure that the correct instance of SQL is selected and click Next. After the Edition Upgrade Rules runs, click Next Review the Upgrade Summary and click Upgrade When Complete click Close Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager using the start menu and verify that the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service is running and that the SQL Server Reporting Services service is running. If either are stopped, right click and select the start option. Verify the upgrade is successful by opening a Web Browser and entering the URL "http://localhost/Reports_SQLEXPRESS" It should now be possible to see the option to directly edit reports in Report Builder. Log into the WebReports Interface. Notice that the initial report showing Database usage no longer runs.

TAC Vista SQL transaction log file is very large and won't shrink

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue TAC Vista SQL transaction log file is very large and won't shrink. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Vista 5.1.X SQL server 2005, 2008 Cause An SQL transaction log consists of a number of virtual files whose size is defined in the database's properties. Once the virtual file is full, the next virtual file in sequence is used. These files are an essential part of the 'rollback' functionality, allowing SQL to roll back a transaction if for some reason (i.e. disk space runs out)  it can't be completed. With the simple model, the virtual file will be marked as reusable once the transaction(s) contained within the file is complete. So a database may look like this, with the '2' in the status column indicating that the virtual file is still in use: With the recovery model set to a simple, a shrink operation will remove all the virtual files that aren't in use. With the full or bulk-logged recovery model shrink operations behave differently. A full description of this can be found here, but the most important point is that a backup of the transaction log must be made before any virtual files can be marked as reusable.  A shrink operation may not remove all virtual files straight away either so multiple shrinks may be necessary to remove all unused/expired  Resolution Run the following queries: DBCC loginfo This will show the file structure of the SQL log file. BACKUP LOG taclogdata TO DISK = 'c:\taclogdata.bak' Run DBCC loginfo again. Check to see if there is any change. Run a 'Shrink' command (via SQL Management Studio) and then run DBCCloginfo again. Check the size of the database: sp_helpdb taclogdata Keep repeating the process until the database logfile is as small as it can be.

How to set and relinquish a BACnet point from AS Script programming

Issue How to turn on and release a specific command priority on a BACnet point? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment ES AS Bacnet interface Script programming Cause Wants an example script program to turn on/ off specific BACnet command priorities in a BACnet device. Resolution To control a specific Digital or Analog Output in a BACnet device, from a script program you would use a Numeric Output in the program that has its value set as required by the program. This Output from the program is then bound to the specific command priority attribute of the point to be controlled. To release control from that Command Priority the "Relinquish" keyword is used in the program to Null that specific command priority and allow lower commands to take control of the output.   Here is an example AS test program that turns on a Digital Output for 4 seconds and then releases it for 4 seconds. The Numeric Output DOControl should be bound to the required Output Command Priority 2, it is written as a fallthru program. Notice; the Relinquish command is releasing the output from Command Priority 2 as used in this example.   Numeric Output DOControl DOOnLine: DOControl = Active Wait4: If TS > 4 Then goto DOOffline Else goto Wait4 DOOffline: Relinquish(DOControl,2) Wait4More: If TS > 4 Then goto DOOnline Else goto Wait4More   This type of script program can be located in the Application of the BACnet interface and control outputs on 3rd party BACnet products or b3 controllers. Note: For control of b3 outputs it is often better to put an appropriate control program (Not the above code) within the b3 controller itself, making it more robust in case of comms failure and also reducing communications traffic. Script Program bindings or Binding Variables pane do not update

Issue Script Program bindings added to the Watch window or the Binding Variables pane in Script Editor show NULL or a previous value compared to the value in the objects they are bound to. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Workstation Building Operation Automation Server Building Operation Enterprise Server Cause Consider the script program below: The bindings (1) are as follows along with the current values (2) in the Watch pane: The source objects all have a value, but the output Bind Value are NULL except for the first Bind Value. Resolution Since SBO 1.5 script program bindings are only updated when they are processed in the program body. In the following picture, only BINDtest1 has a non NULL value since the program is sitting at line 1 which has a reference to BINDtest1. The next picture shows the bindings after the script program has run through all the program lines. Notice that BINDtest5 is still NULL since it has never been referenced in the program's body. Program bindings that are not been processed in the program body will have a value of NULL. or Program bindings that were processed in a previous line inside the program will not update to the latest value until the program goes to a line that references the binding again at which point its value will update.

TC303 thermostat parameter 2 setting and energy saving mode operation

Issue TC303 thermostat parameter 2 setting and energy saving mode operation Product Line Field Devices Environment TC303-3A2DLMS TC303-3A4DLMS Cause The TC-303 parameter 2 setting is used to configure the fan operation status (fan on or fan off) after the temperature setpoint is reached. In the datasheet, it indicates that when the energy saving mode is activated, the fan will run at low speed. The datasheet does not mention what will happen if parameter 2 is set to fan off and energy saving mode is activated. Resolution Test results: If parameter 2 is set to fan off when temperature is reached, the fan will turn off when energy saving mode is activated. Below is the test result in cooling mode. Parameter 2 set to 00 (fan off when temperature is reached) Room temperature 24.0°C / Setpoint 20°C Enable energy saving mode - fan turns off  Parameter 2 set to 01 (fan on when temperature is reached) Room temperature 24.0°C / Setpoint 20°C Enable energy saving mode - fan continues to run.  If parameter 2 is set to fan off when temperature is reached, the fan will off when in energy saving mode when the temperature is reached. See below for test results in cooling mode.   1. Parameter 2 set to 00 (fan off when temperature is reached) Room temperature 24.0'CSetpoint 20'C Enable energy saving mode - fan turns off   2.
