Analog Input readings are high on DCU's

Issue All or a group of Analog Inputs on my Controller (DCU 7700) are reading high (flooding), in alarm and / or displayed as "OLD'. Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET All model series DCU 77xx Cause The inputs on a DCU 7700 are 1-5 Volt DC inputs. If the voltage of an input goes above 5 Volts DC the voltage will flood across the other inputs and they will all go out of range or OLD. Resolution To diagnose the problem sensor perform the following: Measure all inputs (Between terminal 9 and the respective input terminal) one at a time and identify the input that is the highest voltage (above 5 Volts.) Disconnect this input and then place your meter between terminal 9 and the identified input terminal. The excess voltage will slowly drain away and all the other points will come back into normal operating range. If the voltage does not drop repeat the above steps. Replace / Repair the fault sensor(s). Also refer to Analog inputs are reading too high or too low on a 7780.

Reference changer not updating changes in OGC Graphic links

Issue When the need arises to change object paths in OGC graphics the Vista reference changer does not work. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Vista 5.x.x Cause For unknown reasons the reference changer does not seem to work well on all OGC databases. Resolution The first thing to try is to edit the OGC after an attempt has been made with the reference changer. If the links have been updated saving the OGC back to the Vista database can sometimes work. If this did not work you can use the reference changer in the OGC editor. Graphics binding were broken after a Vista upgrade to 4.5 from an earlier version is a link on that process.

Site License is not working after upgrading to Vista 5.1.4 through 5.1.7

Issue Site License is not working after upgrading to Vista 5.1.4 or newer. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Vista License Cause The path to the License Server (lmgrd.exe) and License File (Licensename.lic) is incorrect because the default Vista installation folder changed from TAC in 5.1.3 and older to Schneider Electric 5.1.4 and newer. Resolution Stop and close TAC Vista Server, Workstation, etc. Open the LMTOOLS utility from the Start menu: All Programs/Schneider Electric/TAC Tools 5.x.x/LMTOOLS Under "Config Services Tab", ensure the path to licenses file is correct ,C:/Program Files/Schneider Electric/License. Under "Start/Stop/Reread" tab, check "Force Server Shutdown" box. In order click, "Stop Server", "Start Server", "Reread License File". You should receive a message stating the Reread License File Completed. Start any TAC application other than Vista Server (for example: TAC Menta). You will be prompted to "Specify the License Server System" or "Specify the License File". Select "Specify the License Server System" and enter the computer name. Alternatively, If the License Server resides on the local machine, you may type "localhost" as the computer name. If the above is unsuccessful, follow the full steps in the resolution of TAC Vista 5.0 to 5.1.7 license does not work after installation which will also correct the path name to Schneider Electric.

Multiple instances of Tacos running in Task Manager

Issue Multiple instances of Tacos running in Task Manager Product Line TAC Vista Environment TACOS.exe Vista Server Cause It is possible that Vista Server will try to start multiple/additional instances of Tacos.exe when starting. Resolution Re-register the service. This can be accomplished by executing Tacos.exe with command line switches.  End all Tacos.exe processes. From the Start Menu "run" command prompt perform the following: tacos.exe /unregserver (to unregister Server) tacos.exe /regserver (to re-register Server) This should re-register Server. If Server executes as a result of the command, you have most likely entered it incorrectly. Restart Server and observe. See Registering/Unregistering TAC Vista Server as a Windows service for more information on registering Vista Server as a service.

Guidelines for using large numbers in Access Control

Issue Are there any documented guidelines for using large number in Access Control? Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Site Cause Are there any documented guidelines for using large number in Access Control? Resolution Begin by referencing TCON 300. All SLIs and DPUs must use I/NET Seven revision 1.x (or later) compatible binary software. All DPUs must have DIP switch 7 set to ON. Within a single tenant, you can assign a large key/card number directly to an individual, or translate the number using the Key/Card Translation table, but not both (i.e., you cannot have duplicate key/card numbers or individual numbers within a single tenant). Use compatible EPROMs in the DPUs Note: If you directly assign a key/card to an individual, and later translate the same key/card for another individual, only the translated key/card will be operational within I/NET. Replacing a PC in a Vista Server noded network environment

Issue Multiple Vista Servers can be noded together in a network. See Creating TAC Vista multi-server network for details. If a PC should crash, it may need to be replaced and should be done with as little interruption to the Vista network as possible. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Vista Servers noded together Cause PC crash Hardware upgrade Any replacement of the physical server Resolution If possible, obtain a backup of the Vista database from the PC that is to be replaced. Bring up the new PC, install all necessary Vista software Restore the backup of the Vista database that is to reside on this PC. Because the Vista server nodes communicate with other Vista servers over IP using server names, this will restore communication for all nodes.  There is no need to perform any other maintenance  If no backup of the database is available because of a PC crash, etc, then ensure the Vista server name matches that of the previous computer's Vista server.  See Rename a Vista Server for that process. Recreate the Vista database, and the node should be communicating with the other nodes.

Ethernet Timeout setting

Issue Having trouble communicating to an NPR or other I/NET hosts over a slow/busy ethernet. Product Line TAC INET Environment Any Version of Windows OS and Any Version of I/NET Seven Cause You can make I/NET more tolerant of communication delays over the IP network by making the following change. Resolution Open regedit. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CSI - Control Systems International\I/Net 2000\Configurations. Select your active profile. On the right side, right click and modify the DWORD value "EthernetTimeout" and click "Decimal". The default value is 500mS or half of one second. Increasing this value will determine how long I/NET waits for a response over the ethernet before it gives up. Raise it to 1000, 2000, 2500, etc. and see if it helps. For additional information please see NPR's giving you "Host Lost - Host Restore" messages.

Microsoft Database size Limitations and Continuum

Issue Microsoft Database size Limitations and Continuum Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Site Cause There are limitations to the size that a Continuum database can be. The limitations are Microsoft's limitations. Basically if you use their limited sized databases, these are good for smaller sites. Most of these smaller sites usually don't have extended logs or a heavy volume of access and alarm events either. Resolution Microsoft Database size Limitations and Continuum On large scale sites that have a lot of extended logging, heavy access traffic, alarms and do not want to monitor the size of the databases, it is suggested to go with a enterprise SQLversion. Microsoft DB Size Limitations MSDE version (SQL 2000) 2 Gig Limit - See Database size limitation and recover options on a Single User system in Continuum for more information (Cyberstation SU versions 1.81 and earlier). Enterprise version (SQL 2000) No Limit SQL 2005 Express 4 Gig Limit  (Cyberstation SU versions 1.82 to 1.94) SQL 2012 Express 10Gig limit  (Cyberstation SU version 2.0) Exchange Server 2003 before SP2 SQL 2005 Standard Edition 18 Gig Limit SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition 8 Terabyte Limit Server 2003 SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition 8 Terabyte Limit Research your operating system and determine the size limitations for your particular installation. There are other limitations when using limited versions of the SQL Databases like Standard addition. For instance limited number of processors, limited amount of memory used for allocation pool. Note: Do not use 2 database applications on a Stand Alone installation with Cyberstation being one of the applications. 2 SQL versions or 2 database instances has not been tested with a Stand Alone and is unsupported. This scenario can cause Cyberstation performance issues as well as application crashes.
