i2 and b3 controller startup sequence

Issue What is the startup process for i2 and b3 controllers. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment i2 Infinet controllers b3 BACnet MS/TP controllers Cause Startup and battery/ flash backup information required. Resolution On start-up an i2 or b3 controller will try to restart from the RAM if it contains valid data, programs continue from the last line, point values and logged data & alarms are retained. If the RAM checksum is not valid or the RAM backup battery is not connected (tag not removed) then it will try to do a Cool Start, copying over the Flash memory to RAM and starting all programs from the first line. Logged data, current values and alarm status is lost. You can check the validity of the flash memory using the ACCLastBackup and ACCStatusBackup, these should give the time/date of the last backup to flash and its current status e.g. backup valid or backup required. Otherwise if there is no valid flash the controller will cold start and require a reload from Cyberstation.

Show the actual setpoint from the TAC Xenta 102-AX on the STR250

Issue Show the actual setpoint (nvoEffectSetPt) from the TAC Xenta 102-AX on the STR250 Product Line TAC Vista Environment TAC Xenta 102-AX STR-250 Cause It is possible to select normalized setpoint, or actual setpoint, via the TAC Xenta 102-AX plugin. If you select to have a normalized setpoint (this will show the same value both in heating as well as in cooling mode, but the controller still works against the heating setpoint in heating mode, and cooling setpoint in cooling mode), you will have the same value at nvoEffectSetPt as you have on the STR250. If you select to not have normalized setpoint, both the STR250 as well as the nvoEffectSetPt will show heating setpoint in heating mode, and cooling setpoint in cooling mode. Resolution If you select to have a normalized setpoint (this will show the same value both in heating as well as in cooling mode, but the controller still works against the heating setpoint in heating mode, and cooling setpoint in cooling mode), you will have the same value at nvoEffectSetPt as you have on the STR250. TLS and SSL for support for SMTP in Vista

Issue Certain companies and SMTP mail servers require specific security protocols in order to accept messages. The requirement of Transport Layer Security (TLS) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocols can cause errors when the Vista alarm email notifications fail to send. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Vista Workstation Xenta Server Alarm Emails Cause Xenta server email notification does not have the option to use TLS or SSL security protocols TAC Vista email notification does not have the option to use TLS or SSL security protocols in versions prior to the 5.1.9 hotfix 17 build. Resolution The latest hotfix versions for Vista can be downloaded off of The Exchange Download Center. In order to obtain the SSL and TLS support for smtp server communication, Vista 5.1.9 hotfix 17 or later must be used. Prior to Vista 5.1.9 Hotfix 17 - Vista did not support Transport Layer Security (TLS) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for sending alarm email notifications. A workaround for this issue is to set up an SMTP server on the local machine or network that the Vista or Xenta server resides on. Then the email notification can be encrypted with TLS or SSL protocol before being sent on.

Accdataservices crash when 3rd party bacnet devices have trend logs unconfigured

Issue Enabling Extended Log with third party trend logs crashes the Continuum Workstation. When extended log is enabled, an accdataservices error may be received after a period of time. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum 1.94 SP1 Windows XP, Server 2003, Server 2008 Windows 7 BACnet Cause Some Third Party Equipment has built in trend logs. Even though these logs may not be needed, they are configured by default and may not be able to be deleted. When the trend log buffer is full, they try to send the buffered data down to the Cyber and SQL server. An AccdataService error can generate because the Event enrollments and event notification was not configured. Resolution Disable or disconnect the 3rd party device Edit the Trend logs and set LogInterval, RecordCount RecordsSinceNotifcation and RecordsDownloaded to 0. Unable to bind programming or points in the AS to control LCM blocks

Issue Programming or points in the AS can not be bound to control LCM blocks. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment AS Network 8000 interface Cause The AS Network 8000 interface replicates the function of a GCM and a GCM's blocks are not able to link directly to LCM blocks. Resolution The AS Network 8000 interface replicates the function of a GCM. As such the LCM blocks in the AS can be monitored, manually commanded and bound to share within the AS, but cannot be bound to AS points or logic for control. This is as it would be with an actual GCM and the LCM's connected to it. As with the GCM, the SGCM block is available in the AS and can be used to send data in the AS to the LCM for use in the LCM's logic. The LCM must contain the RGCM block and the use of the data received is determined in the LCM logic.

Security Expert Download Service Download Frequency

Issue Changing the Download Service download frequency doesn't have any effect on how often downloads to controllers occur. Product Line Security Expert Environment Security Expert Security Expert Download Service Security Expert SP-C controller Cause The Download Retry Delay, under SITES | CONTROLLERS | CONFIGURATION, defines the frequency (in seconds) at which the software sends programming updates to the controller. Controller Configuration Setting Changing this value to have the Download Service perform faster downloads to controllers when there are changes does not affect the Download frequency. Resolution The Download Retry Delay is a legacy setting and does not have any effect in the current release of Security Expert. The Download Service checks through the list of controllers as fast as possible. If there is a change in the controller, the Download Service will attempt a download. No download will be attempted for controllers that have no changes. Documentation will be amended to reflect this change.

Disable BACnet/IP and BACnet/Ethernet ports on an I/A MNB-1000 if not connected to a network

Issue Is it okay to leave BACnet/IP or BACnet/Ethernet port enabled on an I/A MNB-1000 even if it's not physically connected to a network? Product Line TAC IA Series Environment WorkPlace Tech MNB-1000, all versions Cause Leaving BACnet/IP or BACnet/Ethernet enabled means that the MNB-1000 is acting as a router. The MNB-1000 thinks there are networks present and tries to route to them. This produces routing loops. Resolution When an MNB-1000 is configured as an MS/TP-only device, and does not use BACnet/IP or BACnet/Ethernet, be sure that BACnet/IP and BACnet/Ethernet are both disabled. Caution: The MNB-1000 is not recommended to be use as an MSTP device.  It is meant to be used as a BACnet/IP or BACnet/ Ethernet device. Note: If either BACnet/IP or BACnet/Ethernet is needed for maintenance reasons, you can access the MNB-1000 via the MS/TP trunk and enable the necessary port. Once you maintenance is completed, disable the unused port again.

I/A Series MNL-VAV controller displays a small air flow value when no airflow is present

Issue I/A Series MNL-VAV controller continues to display a small air flow value (CFM or L/S) even when airflow is not present (zero flow conditions). This condition is typically seen as small CFM readings on graphics screens when air is not present (AHU off condition). Product Line TAC IA Series Environment MNL-V1RV3-2, MNL-V2RV3-2, or MNL-V3RV3 Cause The I/A Series MNL-V1, V2, V3 and controller platforms were recently redesigned to incorporate the latest Echelon FT 5000 Neuron Smart transceiver. With no air flow, when the fan system is not running, minor fluctuations in duct pressure could result in false air flow readings from the MNL-V1RV3-2, MNL-V2RV3-2, and MNL-V3RV3. Resolution Use the MNL Firmware Updater Utility to update the MNL-V1RV3-2, MNL-V2RV3-2, or MNL-V3RV3 controller firmware to version 4.3B5. A velocity pressure reading below 0.005 in. WC (1.25 Pa) will be processed within the controller as no or zero flow. Controllers within these date code ranges should be updated with the utility detailed below. MNL-V1 and MNL-V3 starting with date codes of 1208 MNL-V2 starting with date codes of 1212 Note: The MNL VAV control range of 0.05 to 2.00 in. WC (12.5 to 498.2 Pa) is not affected. When air flow control below 0.05 in. WC is required, the I/A Series MNB VAV controllers, with a control range of 0.004 to 1.5 in. WC (1.0 to 373.6 Pa), should be used. MNL Firmware Updater Utility The MNL Firmware Updater 4_3B5.zip can be downloaded from The Exchange Download Center. The zip file contains these instructions and the “MNL Updater Setup.exe”. Executing “MNL Updater Setup.exe” will place the latest firmware into C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric\MNL Firmware Updater\bin and add the installer to the Start Menu item under Schneider Electric. MNL-V1RV3-2, MNL-V2RV3-2, and MNL-V3RV3 controller firmware version 4.3B5 MNL-5 controller firmware version 4.3A5 If the MNL Firmware Updater had previously been installed, the MNL-V1RV3.NDL, MNL-V2RV3.NDL, and MNL-V3RV3.NDL files located in "C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric\MNL Firmware Updater\bin" will be replaced.

Viewed from the ES, an AS drops offline every 5-10 minutes

Issue Automation Server is going online and offline when viewed from an Enterprise Server. NOTE: Depending on the network setup/IP switch arrangement, having a duplicate Automation Server (AS) IP address can manifest itself by the AS continually resetting itself (Status LED going red, then flashing green, then solid green, followed by red again) over a 1 to 2 minute cycle. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SmartStruxure Enterprise Server StruxureWare Building Operation Workstation Automation Server Cause Duplicate IP address assigned to the AS. IP conflicts will cause the AS to go offline in the ES. Resolution Check that the AS has a unique IP address on the network. If not, consult the IT department to verify that they can provide a unique static IP address. Also, isolate the AS temporarily using a switch and see if the issue stops.

Issue The Heat Meter now has a barcode where the customer number use to be printed. From the customer number the modbus slave ID could be determined. Product Line Field Devices Environment Modbus Heat Meter Cause The Heat Meter now has a barcode where the customer number previously had been printed. From the customer number the modbus slave ID could be determined. Resolution The customer number is a replica of the serial number. The last 3 digits are the modbus slave ID, except when the last 3 digits are 248 or higher, then the slave ID is the last 2 digits. In this case, the slave ID is 210.

CE Declaration of Conformity Certificate for manufactured cables

Issue CE Declaration of Conformity Certificate for manufactured cables for interconnecting EBO modules. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Cabling Cause No CE Declaration of Conformity available for the SXWSCABLE10001 and SXWSCABLE10002 that connects EcoStruxure Building Operation AS-P and IO modules when fitted for example: when modules need to be mounted on separate DIN rails. Resolution CE Declaration of Conformity certificate is not required for an item e.g. premanufactured interconnecting wiring that has no functionality or is inert to the operation of the system.  Europe – CE Marking In general, CE Marking Directives are aimed at products, not at components, although there are some exceptions. Wire and cable products are one of those exceptions that stand out. On its own, wire or cable has no defined use or application, in that it must be built into something to be useful.

Security Expert Server computer name restrictions

Issue Security Expert controller appears offline even though all IP Address and Port settings appear to be correct. Product Line Security Expert Environment Security Expert Server Windows Operating System Cause The Security Expert Server computer name is larger than 15 characters. There is a maximum limit of 15 characters which can be used in the Security Expert Client for both the Download Server and the Event Server settings, any more than this and the Client cannot resolve the computer names correctly. For further details on this restriction refer to the Naming conventions in Active Directory for computers article on Microsoft's Support website. The Download and Event Server settings can be found in the Global Menu. Download and Event Servers In this example the full computer name, PCName123456789Long, is being used in the Download and Event Server Computer Name fields. Download Server Event Server Security Expert is not able to find the Download Server or Event Server with that computer name as it is expecting a computer name of a maximum of 15 characters. Resolution In circumstances where the PC Name is longer than 15 characters there are two options. Either enter the first 15 characters of the computer name into the Download Server and Event Server settings rather than the longer full name. In the example computer name above the name "PCName123456789Long" would become "PCName123456789". Or change the Security Expert Server computer name so that it is 15 characters or less and use this in the Download Server and Event Server settings.
