How to add an offset to a sensor reading.

Issue Due to a variety of reasons it is sometimes necessary to add an offset to the value obtained from a sensor to achieve the required accuracy. For example, a temperature sensor may be reading off by 0.5 degree as compared to a calibrated high accuracy temperature measuring device used as a standard. Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment All CX controller All i2 devices All b3 devices Cause Sensor tolerance. Resolution Add an algorithm in the conversion field of the input objects to adjust the value by the necessary offset. In the example here the conversion entered could be: Elecvalue + 0.5 or Elecvalue + TempSensorOffset where TempSensorOffset is an InfinityNumeric point that has been set to the amount of offset to apply.  While this example uses a very simple conversion algorithm, the input’s conversion can be thought of as a one line PE program that can use PE system functions. Elecvalue + Maximum(TempSensorOffset, 1.5)   Note: For inputs that use automatic conversion e.g. voltage inputs and InfinityFunction is required, see How to add a calibration factor or offset value to an input using automatic scaling for details.

How to add a calibration factor or offset value to an input using automatic scaling.

Issue How to add a calibration factor or offset value to an input using automatic scaling. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Universal Input Cause If using the Conversion field to offset the ElecValue on an input that is using an automatic scale, the resulting value will not be calculated properly. Resolution For this to function with an input using an automatic scale we need to setup an InfinityFunction to do the scaling for us and then add/subtract our offset from this result.   1. Create a new InfinityFunction in the controller called “IPConvert” 2. Paste the below code (between the lines) into the function and save it. ======== 'This InfinityFunction must be called from the conversion line of the input 'This InfinityFunction will allow an offset to be applied to a universal input 'Example Conversion line in the Input - IPConvert(EngScaleTop, ElecScaleTop, EngScaleBot, ElecScaleBot, -1) Arg 1 EngTop 'Engineering Units -  Top of Scale Arg 2 VltTop 'Voltage -  Top of Scale Arg 3 EngBot 'Engineering Units -  Bottom of Scale Arg 4 VltBot 'Voltage - Bottom of Scale Arg 5 Offset 'Amount to Offset returned value Numeric Slope, C Slope = ((EngTop - EngBot) / (VltTop - VltBot)) C = EngBot + (Slope * (minimum(VltTop, maximum(ElecValue, VltBot)) - VltBot)) Return C + Offset ========== 3. Go to your inputs on that controller that need to use this function. 4. confirm that the auto conversion fields have been set to the scale range you require. 5. type the below into the conversion field, replacing the “-0” at the end with whatever offset is required. IPConvert(EngScaleTop, ElecScaleTop, EngScaleBot, ElecScaleBot, -0)

How to calibrate a Continuum sensor?

Issue What is the best method for calibrating a thermistor? Product Line Andover Continuum Environment All CX controller All i2 devices All b3 devices Input Temperature sensors Thermistors Cause There is no documentation that details how to calibrate a Continuum sensor. Resolution There is no requirement to calibrate a Continuum Thermistor sensor, Thermistors are factory trimmed to provide an accurate temperature / resistance curve to within the tolerances defined in the datasheet. One exception to this could be if the connecting cable was of excessive length to add additional impedance to the circuit, in this situation the input point conversion line could be used to subtract an offset: Enter "ElecValue - x" where x is a factor to compensate for the cable impedance. See How to add an offset to a sensor reading for further information

License Administrator fails install on uninstall process

Issue License Administrator fails install with an "Uninstall failed, installer cannot continue" error Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation License Administrator Cause Building Operation uses Flexera (Revenera) Software Technology for licensing. Other Schneider-Electric products may also use this technology for their licensing. Resolution Check to see if the site has other software programs/products using the Flexera (Revenera) Software Technology. Other Schneider Electric offers such as Unity Pro - IEC Programming Software for Modicon PAC, Power Monitoring Expert & TAC Vista as well as third party programs also use Flexera (Revenera) for their licensing. During installation of the Building Operation License Administrator the dialog below is shown: The default behavior of the Building Operation License Administrator installation program is to install both Building Operation License Administrator and a new local license server instance. If the default behavior is accepted, the installation program will attempt to uninstall any previously installed local license servers. If the Building Operation License Administrator installation program  does not have sufficient access rights to uninstall the license server previously installed by another product a "Failed to install Building Operation License Administrator" error will occur.   Multiple products can share a single Flexnet License server instance. If there is an existing Flexnet install then the License Server checkbox should be unchecked during installation of the Building Operation License Administrator This leaves the existing local license server installed by the other product intact, while still allowing Building Operation License Administrator to run. The license server used by Building Operation License Administrator can easily be changed by the user on the License Server Address tab in Building Operation License Administrator, if necessary.

How many times can we rehost a Building Operation License?

Issue Rehosting is defined as the process of moving a license from one machine to another. Is there a limit to the number of rehosts allowed per year? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation,TAC Vista Environment Building Operation Licensing Cause Re-hosting means that the license bindings to the physical hardware or its substitutes on a Virtual Machine are moved i.e. the host ID is changed. This can be required if the license is moved to a new computer or Virtual Machine.  A maximum of 4 license re-hosts are allowed in 12 months. Resolution If the re-hosting limit is exceeded and further re-hosting is justified and necessary, the policy can be overridden by Product Support. When contacting support please provide the entitlement details so that the license policy can be overridden.

Controller error log: error transmitting (LAN_ERR_TRANSMIT_ERROR)

Issue Looking in the controller error log, what does this error indicate and how do I troubleshoot it? 0x00006c0e 0x00002600 0x020a8536 0x00000000 0x00000000 error transmitting (LAN_ERR_TRANSMIT_ERROR) Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Controllers ControllerErrorLogTool error log report Cause This error can be the result of comms buffers being too full to transmit data to the LAN. Resolution Check the following: Check the scan rate of the controller to see if it is high. If high (above 1.0 scans/sec), stop programs to see which may be causing problems. Are there a lot of remote points being read or written from/to this controller? Try minimizing this traffic by limiting the number of points per program line, set COV Increment values, etc... If writing to 3rd party controllers, check how often your programs are doing this. Are they being sent each scan or only once when the value is required? Many BACnet writes per second can saturate the communications buffers and cause communications bottlenecks. Run a Wireshark capture by mirroring the controller's NIC card. This will show the traffic that is making it to the controller's NIC. See if there is traffic from 1 or more IP addresses that could be affecting the system and eliminate or reduce that traffic.

When the "Concurrent" page is opened on the License website(http://localhost:8888) a "B" is always shown in the top of the list.

Issue Why is "B" shown in the Concurrent license feature list in the License Server Interface (http://localhost:8888) Dashboard?   Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation License Server Cause The Flexera framework requires at least 1 licensed feature to be present when installing a license server for it to start correctly. In this phase there aren't any licensed features so a dummy feature is created. Resolution It can be ignored as it is just a dummy license used for the installation.

3rd Party BACnet devices display a Question Mark (?) as units when brought into EcoStruxure

Issue Values from a third party BACnet device display the question mark character (?) instead of the correct engineering unit. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise/Automation Server Building Operation Workstation Third party BACnet device Cause The BACnet Standard revisions support a list of engineering units as enumerations, as shown in the extract below: - Enumeration Unit Unit type 0 square-meters Area 1 square-feet Area 2 milliamperes Electrical 3 amperes Electrical …. …. …. The question mark (?) placeholder is used when Building Operation reads an unknown BACnet unit enumeration identifier.  It is either a unit from a later revision of the standard, that has not been implemented by Building Operation yet, or it is a unit that is proprietary to the devices vendor. Resolution Based on different BACnet revisions, Building Operation can interpret the enumeration of units but proprietary units may not be handled correctly since these can vary by vendor, model and even the software version.   Any lookup is specific to the vendor, model and software version. The vendor of the third party equipment should be approached to modify their implementation according to the BACnet standard.  Additionally please see Points from an MPM display ?

Learn Process stopped and get an error "Can not learn this controller, it contains an unknown model number"

Warning COMPLEX PROCEDURE REQUIRED. The resolution of this article has many complex steps that may result in unforeseen results if not performed correctly. If you are at all unfamiliar with the requirements, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue In some situations, when doing a learn on the CX/BCX controller, the learn process aborts and an error prompt pops up, "Can not learn this controller, it contains an unknown model number." Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Cyberstation CX/BCX I2/B3 Cause Learn process has been executed more than once and at least one has not completed. Some controllers that reside in the CX/BCX have not been cleared and have a duplicate infinetID with some controller in the database. Reloading the CX/BCX controller will indicate which controller has the duplicate InfinetID. Resolution It is recommended to create I2/B3 controllers manually (not by learn) to avoid this problem. If this problem happens: Open the BCX/CX controller and click "reset" Reload BCX/CX controller, from the distribution properties window to find out which controller has the duplicated InfinetID Go to the Continuum Explorer, right click the i2/B3 controller which has the duplicated InfinetID and then select "send to text file" Open the text file, change the infinetID for this controller to another number that does not exist in the database. Delete the i2/B3 controller which has the duplicated ID and import the text file. Reload the CX/BCX controller, there will be no more error. Do learn again on the commport of BCX/CX controller, that should execute successfully. How to control an output with one or more inputs.

Issue How to control an output with one or more inputs. Product Line EcoStruxure Security Expert Environment Security Expert Cause Unsure how to program one or more inputs to directly control an output. Input Control Output Resolution The below guide details how to use an Input to activate an Output on Security Expert and SP-C-WEB systems. An output can be assigned to the Input Type and to the Input allowing many to one and one to many configurations.   In order for an Input to activate an Output it needs two things: To be inside an always armed area - This can be an Automation/Dummy area with its only purpose being to activate the output. To have an Input Type that tells it to activate an Output   Single/Multiple Input Activating the same Output If one or more inputs are required to activate the same output, this output can be defined by the input type. The below is a simple scenario where when the Input turns ON the Control Output turns ON, when the Input turns OFF the Control Output turns OFF. Other types of output activations can be configured if required. Creating the Area Navigate to Programming > Areas Add a new area and name it Automation Area, set the Entry and Exit Delay Times to 0. All other settings can be left default. Creating the Input Type Navigate to Programming > Input Types.
