Disable "Dynamic DNS" in Device Administrator

Issue "Ethernet 1 Configuration" of a SmartX Server in the Device Administrator for EBO version 3.2.1 or higher shows "Dynamic DNS" as enabled and grayed out. Is it possible to disable "Dynamic DNS"? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Automation Server Premium version 3.2.1 or higher Cause The Dynamic DNS service procedure supports the assignment of dynamic IP addresses to a particular domain. A comparison with the internet provider's DNS databases takes place automatically. The Dynamic DNS automatically ensures that changes to the IP address are detected and DNS entries are updated accordingly. Resolution In EBO version 3.2.1 or higher it will not be possible to disable Dynamic DNS, it will always be enabled.

Configuring Continuum power supply for auxiliary IO mode

Warning Hazard of Electric Shock: Remove all power from all devices before removing any covers or doors of the system. Disconnect power at the device and at the power source. Electrostatic Discharge Required: Always discharge static electricity from your person by touching metal prior to handling any hardware. Failure to do so may result in damage to devices. Issue When transitioning Continuum access control to Security Expert or Access Expert the Continuum power supply may need to be configured for auxiliary IO power mode.  Product Line Security Expert Access Expert Environment Continuum AC-1 IO Module Security Expert Controller Access Expert Controller Cause The UPS versions of the 120/240 AC Continuum power supply include two status signals that are meant for use by a CPU module. When connecting directly to an I/O module you must disable these signals. If signals are left enabled they will cause communication issues between the AC-1 IO modules and the Security Expert or Access Expert controller. Resolution This applies  ONLY to the UPS models of the Continuum power supplies (PS 120/240 AC 50-U, AC 65-U and AC 85-U)   Remove power from the unit. On the Continuum power supply, press both cover removal tabs inward simultaneously and pull up. Locate the Mode switch using the diagram below. *** With the tip of a small screwdriver, carefully slide the switch to the AUX position. Replace the cover.   NOTE: On older versions of the power supply, instead of a switch, two jumper components must be removed from the printed circuit board.

TimescaleDB Installation Errors

Issue TimescaleDB Installation Errors - ERROR: could not get 'pg_config --pkglibdir' : exec: "pg_config": executable file not found in %PATH% - ERROR: could not get 'pg_config --pkglindir' : exit status 1 Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Building Operation 3.x External Log Storage TimescaleDB (third party)  Cause Missing environment variable paths in Windows is detailed in section 9.4.4 PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB Installation in the EcoStruxure Building Operation 3.0.1 Release Notes. Assistance in how to add these variables is described below. Resolution Using the EBO External Log Storage Installer tool available on the Community, there is no need to make any manual configuration, as the tool executes the installation without the need for e.g. environment variables. Alternatively, you can manually set these as detailed below: You can either view a video showing how it is done:  or follow the instruction below view, add and modify the environment variables from the Control Panel as follows:  In the Control Panel select System and Security Select System Select Advanced system settings Select Environment Variables. In System variables, highlight Path and click Edit. For the error - ERROR: could not get 'pg_config --pkglibdir' : exec: "pg_config": executable file not found in %PATH% Add the New path 'C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\11\bin' to the environment variable. For the error -ERROR: could not get 'pg_config --pkglindir' : exit status 1 Add the New path 'C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\11\lib' to the environment variable. You should see something similar to the following after TimescaleDB has been successfully installed.

Slow reading/writing of log values and events might be caused by fragmented index in SQL database.

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. Assign TAC Network Variables in Menta

Issue How to address TAC Network Variables in Menta. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Menta Xenta programmable controllers Cause Passing data between two programmable controllers on a proprietary TAC Network Variable (TANV). Resolution In Menta, create an AI or DI, depending on the data type of the remote signal. Double click the block, name it, and choose "Bind" Select the "Network Variable" option In the Network Address, use the following signal format: Device\Module\SignalName Device is the name of the source controller in Vista Module is the Software Module (if no module is defined, this will be the Menta file Program Specification) Signal Name is the Point Name Note: The browse option ("...") on the Network Address should only be used if the Menta file is being edited directly from a live Vista database. To browse to the point on a Menta file that resides on the hard drive will most likely only provide the correct point name, and not the correct full network path name of the eventual Vista database object. See Troubleshooting TAC Network Variable (TANV) Communication for techniques on troubleshooting TANV communication.

Menta error: Illegal closed loop has been detected

Issue Tam32 Illegal closed loop has been detected Product Line TAC Vista Environment Menta Cause Menta evaluates all expressions in parallel every program cycle. Because of this, the output of an expression cannot be looped directly back to the input of the expression. Resolution Any time a logic loop is created in Menta a unitary delay object must be inserted into the loop. These objects are labeled DELB, DELI, and DELR. The type used depends on the data type flowing through the loop. These objects in many cases do not contribute to the logic of control but they are essential for program execution and the application will not compile without them.

PID module has gone to "control-point"

Issue PID module has gone to "control-point" Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET DDC PID Cause The PID may have gone to "Control Point" due to unforeseen circumstances and is causing a problem. "Control Point" can also be used intentionally as a control strategy. Resolution Four reasons: If the Setpoint’s value crosses above or below the high or low input limits as populated in the PID editor, this will force the PID to go to control-point. If the process variable should reach the low or input sense limits as entered in the Resident I/O editor, the PID will go to control-point. If either the Setpoint or Process variable should go to "OLD" status, the PID will go to control-point until the "OLD" flag goes away. If the user should change any variable within the PID, when exiting the PID editor, the PID will go to control-point until the next scan of the module. For more information on this subject refer to Tech Tip G062.
