A method to search Access Events for a specific Personnel during a specific period of time.

Issue Want a method to show all the Access Events that a Personnel has had during a specific period of time. Environment Continuum Access Control Cause A method to search Access Events for a specific Personnel during a specific period of time. Resolution One method to do this would be to use Listviews. There are a number of default Listviews already available in a default ContinuumDB, one of these can be used as a basis for our new Listview. This is done by adding a database qualifier to a copy of the default Events_Today Listview. Make a copy the Events_Today Listview  Add the prompt for a card number search using: DBQualifier : (CardNumber is Prompt("Please Enter a Card number", 0) and Template = False) This will return all the events today for the card number that the user inputs in the prompt box when running the Listview.

XIF and NXE files for a SVEA Lon I/O Module DR-N-3D1M (0-10V) module

Issue Need to download the XIF and NXE files for a SVEA Lon I/O Module DR-N-3D1M (0-10V) module, but having difficulty locating these files on the Extranet. Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Expert, EcoStruxure Building Operation, Satchwell Sigma, TAC Vista Environment SVEA XIF NXE Cause The difficulty in locating these files, is due to them being identified by their article number, in this case DR-N 3DIM. This number was used when these were classified as the SVEA devices. The Schneider version is now known as MTN881001, and not DR-N 3DIM. Resolution The Schneider Electric (MTN881001) files are located on The Exchange Download Center Download the XIF / NXE files for the SE MN881001 Download the XIF / NXE files for the SVEA DR-N 3DIM Note: It appears that although these devices are both classified as Lon I/O Module 1-10V, the XIF / NXE files are different.

Editing the sample Personnel Import Utility (PIU) XSL files.

Issue Proper way to 'activate' portions of Personnel Import Utility (PIU) XSL files. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment CyberStation with PIU Cause Difficulty in getting transformation file to import records Resolution Transformation files used with the PIU are located in the \Continuum directory. These are XSL files and are built in a way that features are commented out in the file and those features can be 'activated' by uncommenting. XSL is a language for expressing style sheets. An XSL style sheet is a file that describes how to display an XML document of a given type. When the XSL files are opened with Internet Explorer (IE) you see color-coding and bold text. The bold text is activated, the light grey is not. You can only view the code in IE, not edit it. Use an advanced text editor like Notepad ++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/) and you can easily see and edit the file to activate portions of it. Note: Make sure when 'activating" the syntax option in the file by removing the leading  - <!--   you also remove the trailing   --> .  The following is what the file CSVToContinuumTransformation.xsl looks like.   <?xml version="1.0"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:msxsl="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xslt" xmlns:TAC="http://www.tac.com/TAC" extension-element-prefixes="msxsl" exclude-result-prefixes="TAC"> <!-- - define the Javascript or C# or VBScript functions that you want to include within a msxsl:script element. - language indicates the scripting language - implements-prefix gives the namespace prefix that you declared for your function (i.e. TAC) - Use the functions where ever you want. More than four site codes assigned to a door.

Issue Is it possible thru PE or any other means to have more than 4 site codes assigned to a door in Continuum? A developer of a multi-tenant building has more than 4 clients all using HID proximity cards but each with different site codes. The main entrance is common to all tenants. How can the developer put a card reader on it with Continuum? Product Line Andover Continuum Environment CyberStation AC-1 family ACX family Cause Is it possible thru PE or any other means to have more than 4 site codes assigned to a door in Continuum? Resolution A single door object in Continuum is limited to the 4 site codes. If you do not need alarms, i.e, you just need an electronic key then there is a hardware workaround. Add a reader distribution amp like the RDA1 from ETS of Albuquerque, NM. The input of the RDA1 is wired to the card reader at the door. The outputs of the RDA1 are wired to multiple Continuum reader ports (AC-1s or ACX). Create another door object with the same arealink. Now you have 4 more site codes. You'll need to do some input and output re-wiring and every card read will give you at least one invalid attempt (invalid site code on one of the two door objects). If you can live with that, you're all set.

How much broadcast (i.e ARP) traffic can Continuum controllers handle before they turn off their transceiver and go offline.

Issue Offline alarms received from Continuum controllers every few minutes and log error 0x00006c0e Broadcast Storm AKA Error transmitting and/or 0x00006c03 Driver fatal error during operation. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Net Controller II Continuum ACX 4 Controller Continuum CX Gen 1 Continuum bCX4040 Continuum bCX9640 Continuum BCX4000 Cause Excessive ARPs and/or other broadcast traffic on the network. Resolution When troubleshooting controller offline issues that are suspected to have excessive broadcast traffic as the root cause it is important to understand how to interpret Wireshark capture to determine whether too much broadcast on the VLAN  is indeed the problem. Note that taking the percentage of broadcast traffic in a Wireshark capture while a good starting point cannot in itself be solely used as proof that excessive broadcast is indeed the root cause of the controllers going offline, this is because in the absence of much unicast traffic the broadcast traffic will make up most of the packets resulting in a misleading high percentage. A much better way to determine whether the controller maybe going offline due to excessive broadcasts is to look at the average broadcast packets per second over a 15-20-minute capture. The screen capture below shows the statistics from a 20 minute capture filtered by broadcast traffic (eth.dst == ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff)  The capture shows that about 63% of the traffic is made up of broadcast at an average of 24 packets per second. The Continuum controllers on the network were going offline multiple times an hour. Note that the Continuum controllers are initially able to handle a much higher rate of broadcast traffic, tests performed in the PSS lab show a CX9680 can handled about 10 times  the amount shown here sustained for 5-10 minutes but over a much longer period of time such as several days or weeks the amount of broadcast traffic shown was enough to cause the controllers  to go offline. The screen capture below shows the statistics after the root cause of the excessive broadcast was identified and fixed. The problem at the site in question here was a defect in the network switch that was making the switch duplicate ARP traffic. Note that Cisco switch model Catalyst 4500 is also effected by the firmware bug. Current version which fixed the issue: Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch  Software (cat4500e-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 03.08.05.E RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)   Previous version which caused the broadcast problems: Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch  Software (cat4500e-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 03.08.02.E RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

A method to remove access from a large number of Personnel by changing the Expiration Date using a Template.

Issue A method to remove access from a large number of Personnel by changing the Expiration Date using a Template. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Access Control Cause Need to know how to disable large numbers of Personnel at one time using the Personnel Expiration Date. Resolution The Personnel Expiration Date is distributed down to the Controllers and used to allow or deny access at the Door. If a future date is set then the Personnel has normal access, if a past date has been set then they do not have access and a "Person Expiration Date Passed" error will be displayed when they are refused access. See the steps below on how to use a template to mass set this Expiration Date field for a large number of Personnel at the same time.   1. Create a Personnel Template in the Personnel Templates Folder. Notice that the Expiration Date defaults to a future date of "12/31/2099 11:59:59 AM". 2. Go to the Attribute Data Source tab and set the ExpirationDate attribute to InheritFromTemplate. 3. Use this Template to create your Personnel objects. 4. Notice that Personnel created from this template should show the Expiration Date in Blue which is also un-editable in the Details tab. 5. Edit the Template and change the Expiration Date to a date that has already past. After saving the Template the changes will be made to all attached Personnel and those Personnel distributed to all online controllers. Viewing the Distribution Properties, you should see an entry for each object refreshed by the Template. 6. Looking at the Access Distribution View you should see that the Personnel have been redistributed down to the controllers successfully. 7. Test your Personnel at the Door and they should no longer have access. Looking in an active Event View you can see that the Personnel are not being granted access with the Message "Person Expiration Date Passed". Re-enable Extended Logging points without requiring a reload of all affected controllers

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue Workstations are no longer logging all points configured for Extended Logging. Lots of these errors seen in the Errors Listview and ACCtrace. "Unable to find Extended Log records to download. This can occur when a log is added to a point through offline editing and the change is never sent to the controller." Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Cyberstation SQL Server Management Studio Cause What has probably occurred is that in the database the point is set for extended logging but in the controller this same value is not set. It happens when the controller recovers from flash and the database stored in flash didn't have the extended log points configured or it was offline edited. This could also be due to a corrupt entry in the ExtendedLogReservation table that is stopping new points from being assigned. Resolution After the troubleshooting steps in Getting error Unable to find Extended Log records to download have been followed but were unable to resolve the problem, truncating the ExtendedLogReservation table and then rebuilding it did resolve the problem in a number of situations. Please note that this is a brute force approach that requires truncating a table using an SQL query. I want to stress that even after following the below steps to re-enable logging, each affected controller should be reloaded at some point to ensure that it has the most recent up to date information. The steps below are a quicker method of getting the logging start working right away without having to wait to reload each individual controller. The best method to disable and then re-enable the Extended Logging on the points that have it configured is to use individual Listviews filtered to show them. One of Numerics, Inputs, and Outputs. The only change required, and this is a critical one, is to change the "Live Data Refresh Rate" to 0 for each of those three Listviews. This will ensure that the view is not refreshed automatically unless we do this ourselves. See image below for details. After importing the three ListViews, follow the below steps to toggle the ExtLogEnable values for all Numerics that were currently setup to trend. Run the imported listviews, Export the results to CSV files, (do this as a backup so there is a record of what points are currently configured). Edit the listviews to disable live refresh, see attached image for exact details of what to change. [** Important **] Shut down all Cyberstations and backup the ContinuumDB. Go back and confirm that step 4 above has been done. Truncate the entire ExtendedLogReservation table and rebuild it. In SQL Management Studio, run the below query to truncate the table. truncate table ContinuumDB.dbo.ExtendedLogReservation   Start up the Cyberstation Set Workstation to Offline (workstation icon in task tray) Run each of the three Listviews, select Edit->select all, select Edit-> set attribute, set the ExtLogEnable attribute to False, Wait for the changes to take effect on all, you can see when this is done (and it may take awhile) by the tasks in the Distribution Properties window. Then select all again and set the attribute back to True, wait for this to complete. Now when you start up the Workstations you should see that the ExtendedLogReservation table gets populated and slowly start to see that some of the Workstations get assigned logs to start logging. You can see which entries are assigned to a Workstation by the value of ReservingWSLo. This will be set to 0 if no Workstation has been assigned to gather the point yet or it will assigned to the IdLo value of the Workstation that has picked it up.

Continuum Video Integration Compatibility Matrix and Supported Camera List

Issue Digital Sentry and Endura VMS systems have specific cameras and firmware that are supported by the Continuum Integration Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Digital Sentry Endura 2.0 Cause In the past the video compatibility matrix was very specific about what vms firmware versions and cameras were tested and supported by Continuum. As of 2.02 and above, Continuum is relying on Pelco's testing of specific cameras with either Digital Sentry or Endura and this article lists those specific links. Only the Digital Sentry link was in the 2.02 Video Compatibility Matrix. Resolution Video Matrix for 2.02 - Download Here Pelco cameras supported by Digital Sentry v7.15 : http://partnerfirst.pelco.com/content/digital-sentry#sthash.ZkEtYiZd.w16va5xk.dpbs Pelco cameras supported by Endura 2.0: http://partnerfirst.pelco.com/content/endura#sthash.ii8IYPqC.dpbs Pelco support indicates that the camera compatibility lists are for specific models, not for a certain series of camera. i.e. IME22 doesn't mean the IME22x is supported.

Is it possible to integrate Continuum with Active Directory for access control purposes?

Issue A prospective customer requires their active directory be integrated into Continuum to eliminate duplication of data entry. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment CyberStation Active Directory LDAP Personnel Import Utility (PIU) Cause How can Continuum be integrated to an existing active directory for access control cardholder purposes? Resolution Yes, it can be integrated. The Personal Import Utility is a CyberStation application based on Active Directory.  Active Directory is a Microsoft Windows directory service that provides a unified view of complex networks.  Active Directory is installed on a Microsoft Windows Server, known as the domain controller.  CyberStation uses the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to read and extract Active Directory user information. The above is from the CyberStation v1.93 Help System, a portion of which is attached here for reference.

What are the differences between the PID function included in the Script editor library and bPID as traditionally used with Continuum?

Issue Why does the PID example function in the Script editor library not operate like the bPID? Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Script/ Plain English differences Cause PID example does not operate as expected with regard to the integral action. Resolution The Script Program editor contains various library functions that can be selected from the "Library" tab at the lower right of the editor screen. Plain English program/ function examples were available and used in Continuum and known as the "Andover Controls Standard Modules" ACSM, they are available in Where can I obtain standard Plain English example functions? This document also contains further information about the PID use and application. In both the script PIDLoop (Long version) library function and the bPID function as used in Andover Continuum the Proportional component is the same, they both use Proportional Gain which is defined as 1 / Proportional Band. In the Script Editor Library PID function this requires the Integral Gain constant, this is defined as 1 / Integral Action Time as used in the Continuum bPID function. In the Script Editor Library PID function this requires the Derivative Gain constant, this is defined as 1 / Derivative Action Time as used in the Continuum bPID function. Either of the functions may be used in the SmartStruxure Script editor, but you need to ensure your calling program is passing the correct arguments for the PID function used.
