Sigma Compact Edition - Supported hand-held devices are no longer available.

Issue Sigma 4 05 Sigma Compact Edition supports the following hand-held devices: iPAQ 114, iPAQ 214, iPAQ 2490b, Dell Axim X51 These devices are no longer available, so what can be used? Environment Sigma WinCE Hand-held devices Compact Edition Cause Supported hand-held CE devices, such as the iPAQ 114, iPAQ 214, iPAQ 2490b, Dell Axim X51 are no longer available. Resolution The ever-changing PDA market has continuously caused problems, by obsoleting devices and creating new ones. This led to us always trying to catch up. With Sigma 4 05 Sigma Compact Edition, it was decided that a method to future proof must be found. This release does not support any additional devices, but it now supports the use of a "Mini PC", Netbook, Notebook etc. To review the release note for the Sigma Compact Edition 4.05 Click Here. Netcontroller will not come online in Continuum

Issue Netcontroller will not come online in Continuum although the unit can be pinged. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum 2nd generation controllers (NC2 (CX9680), ACX57, CX9702, bCX4040, bCX9640) 1st generation addendum Cause Even though a unit can be pinged, that does not mean the unit will come online within Continuum, as the "ping" is a very low level communication Resolution Check all settings are correct (IP address, ACCNetID, Subnet Mask, Default Router(Gateway Address)) Check the correct network ports are open, see Router required open port numbers to run a Continuum system Check the site fits within the compatibility matrix, see Software and Firmware compatibility matrix for older versions of I/NET, Vista, Andover Continuum, Satchwell Sigma, I/A Series, and StruxureWare Building Operation Check there is only a single Network Card enabled on the CyberStation  For a second generation NetController (NC2, ACX57, CX9702, bCX) Check the web page can be accessed, if it can then double check the network settings. Connect a temporary single user Continuum laptop to the controller directly, manually reset the IP address and bring the controller online (using 169.254.1 Subnet). If this operates correctly then controller fault is eliminated. If the controller is not faulty then the network and/or the Continuum installations will need to be checked. Addendum for first generation controllers: Attach to the controller via hyperterminal to determine it's perspective and to verify the IP address, ACCNetID, Subnet Mask, Default Router. You can also verify if the netcontroller lists the Workstation as a controller indicating it can see the workstation. If not, perform a teach from the Workstation.

Issue Can the Advantech touch screen be used as a Sigma server? Environment Sigma WinCE Advantech Touch screen Panel mounted Cause System has been installed without a Sigma server. Resolution The Advantech touch screen, or any other WinCE device can only be used for general display functions, low level editing, contingency logging review and time updates, it does not have the functionality of a Sigma server. Cannot open a PCT project when the computer running PCT has no connection to the network DHCP server

Issue The Project Configuration Tool is installed as a Server. A project can be created but when it should be saved, an error says, "Failed to open project," and "Failed to start VM." Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment PCT version 1.1.1 Cause When PCT is installed as a server PCT, and a project is opened, the computer running PCT must have a connection to the DHCP server in the network. Resolution Make sure that the computer running PCT has a good connection to the DHCP server in the network.

Managing Licensing distribution using the Option's file

Issue How can we exclude Hosts or Users from accessing the Workstation Professional license i.e. Script, Function Block and Graphic editors from another Workstation? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation License Server FLEXnet Cause When accessing various editors from within Workstation a particular license does not differentiate host or user who should have access to which editors. Using the option file taclic.opt allows you to exclude certain Host / Users of StruxureWare Building Operation from accessing these Workstation clients. The Workstation clients referenced are as follows: client.station (Workstation) client.script (Script Editor) client.functionblock.view (Function Block Editor) client.graphiceditor (Graphic Editor) Resolution FLEXnet Licensing provides the options file to be included in the License Server directory. Each time the License Server service is started this file is checked. Syntax and use can be found in the attached document - Chapter 13 The following option file must reside on the License Server in the following path: Building Operation 1.9 and below: C:\Program Files(x86)\Schneider Electric StruxureWare\Building Operation 1.x\License Server Building Operation 2.0 and above: C:\Program Files(x86)\Schneider Electric EcoStruxure\Building Operation x.x\License Server Once this file is copied into the License Server folder, you must restart the license service (via the Windows Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services). Issue PT1000 temperature sensors RTD Input Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment AS Classic, ASP  UI16, RTD-DI-16 - Central IO Module ASB, RPC, MPC Need for temperature to be extremely accurate PT1000 platinum resistance thermometer, RTD Resistance Temperature Detector Cause The AS Central IO Module Universal Inputs (UI16) were designed to interface to various thermistors that can have resistance values that are usually much higher than 1000 ohms. They were not designed to interface directly to a PT1000 RTD, and will not provide good accuracy when measuring these lower resistance sensors. The resistance input type was intended to allow for measuring the position of a 10K potentiometer that is used on some wall sensors. The accuracy specification for a resistance input is: +/-(7+0.004*R) ohms. This would result in an error of +/-11 ohms at 1000ohms – therefore a temperature measurement error approaching +/-3.0C. Collect logs from the Enterprise Server and Enterprise Central

Issue When troubleshooting server issues, it can be helpful to look at the logs that are recorded within the Enterprise Server or Enterprise Central Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Enterprise Central Cause Within the Enterprise Server and Enterprise Central logs are many records that are logged as a part of normal operations and unexpected events. Resolution Collect ES and EC Logs via EBO Workstation: Refer to the Workstation section of KB article: Collect logs from an Automation Server Collect ES and EC Logs via Windows Explorer, especially if ES or EC will not run as a service or keep crashing: The ES or EC database path is listed in Software Administrator.   For Windows 7, Server 2008, or higher, the default paths for the logs folder are: Enterprise Server: C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric [EcoStruxure|StruxureWare]\Building Operation [n.n]\Enterprise Server\db\logs Enterprise Central: C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric EcoStruxure\Building Operation [n.n]\Enterprise Central\db\logs In EBO V3.2 or higher, shortcut buttons can be found in Software Administrator to go to the folder for logs and database directly.    By default, the "Program Data" folder is hidden, so Windows needs to be configured to view hidden files and folders. For Windows 10 or 11, open Windows Explorer and select View > Show > Hidden items. For other Windows versions, please refer to this Microsoft help article: Show hidden files (microsoft.com). Using Windows Explorer, Navigate to the ES or EC logs folder to find System and Trace logs. Copy the Logs folder contents and send them to Product Support as a compressed file if required. To open a log file, Right-click on one of the logs and select Open with... Expand the window and select WordPad. For Windows XP:   Other ways to review site-specific issues: Is the issue site-specific regarding workstation being used or applications/programs running on these machines? Always try to keep the programs on a workstation to a minimum. Review the Windows Event Logs. What specifically happens when an error occurs? Follow this KB article to view and save the Windows Events: Viewing, Saving, Sharing Windows Event Logs for Troubleshooting Purposes - Communities Make sure that PCs and Windows OS used for WorkStation, ES or EC meet the requirements mentioned in Information Technology System Planning Guide (se.com) Make sure that the firewall and antivirus are correctly configured, and required ports are open for EBO, as explained in Information Technology System Planning Guide (se.com) Make sure that the current installed EBO version is supported, as per the Software Support Policy for EcoStruxure Building Operation - PA-00300. Issue Sites using Report Server need to upgrade to EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) 2022 or higher, where WebReports/Report Server is no longer supported. Resolution To address this, Schneider Electric provides a Data Migration Assistant (DMA) tool that: Reads data from WebReports 3.x Writes data to External Log Storage Download the DMA Tool External Log Storage Overview Stores historical data from EcoStruxure BMS Storage capacity is limited only by your hardware Historical data is displayed in WorkStation and WebStation (event and trend views) Any server can be configured to write data to TimescaleDB   Any server in the system can be configured to write historical data to the TimescaleDB database. OPC or DDE with EcoStruxure Building Operation

Issue Support for OPC or DDE integration with EcoStruxure Building Operation Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Automation Server Premium Cause The OPC Server is a software program that converts hardware communication protocol into the OPC protocol. The OPC client software is any program that needs to connect to the hardware. The OPC client uses the OPC server to get data from or send commands to the hardware. Resolution Neither the OPC server nor the DDE configuration is supported at this time. There is not currently a roadmap for direct OPC client or server capability within the EcoStruxure Building Operation. To avoid problems with OPC Integration (and lose a project), there are two options for OPC integeration: It is possibe to use a converter to convert OPC to/from one of EBO supported protocols.  For example, use a 3rd party software to translate all the OPC points into BACnet Objects, “OPC Server -> BACnet Server”, or translate all EBO BACnet points to OPC. Perhaps one of the software programs below will be of benefit. Take into consideration what specifically will the ES be doing. If it is exchanging point values then it should work fine. Kepware Matrikon SCADA engine Note: These are 3rd party products that are not supported by Shneider Electric.    Use a SmartConnector Extension to be a middleware between EBO and OPC cilent or server. Check available extenstions at Exchange shop and SmartConnector Server and refer to EBO SmartDriver and Smart Connector KB article for more information.

How to calculate storage used by Extended Trend Logs

Issue A site is required to store Extended Trend Log historical data for an extended period of time, in order to make sure the system has enough capacity for all the data  it is necessary to calculate the storage needed ahead of time Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Workstation Cause Understanding the storage requirements for long term trend storage Resolution Formula to calculate the storage capacity needed for Extended Trend Log data. Storage in bytes (S)  = Number Of Records (N) x 70 bytes. EXAMPLE: Consider a trend log of 1000 records with a 10-minute interval, if the requirement is to keep 5 years of data, how much storage capacity will be required? The number of records would (N)  be... 6 records per hour times 24 hours per day times 365 days per year*** times 5 years (*** leap years must be taken into account) N =  6 X 24 X 365 X 5 = 262800 bytes This equates to: S = N X 70 S = 262800 X 70 S = 18396000 bytes or approximately 18 megabytes   Note - The calculations above are for the native SQLite database used by EBO. There are two alternatives to using the ES database for long-term trend storage. Report Server - See the WebReports Database Usage Calculator Knowledge base article for storage calculations External Log Storage is possible from EBO v3.0 using TimescaleDB database - The EBO External Log Storage Installer tool from the community provides a databases size estimator located under the Tools menu item

EGL, EGRL, EGLL5 Temperature Sensors and Resistance Chart

Issue Using the EGL, EGRL, EGLL5 which are obsolete Environment Vista Cause temperature/resistance data of EGRL, EGRLL, EGRL5 temperature sensors, or customer needs data to calibrate the sensors. Resolution EGL is replaced by the STD100-250 EGRL - STR100 EGLL  (2 thermistors) was not really replaced, as the average temp calc nowadays is done in the controller. The room version was named EGRLL. All these are for the Vista series. How to upgrade a first Generation CX to a Netcontroller 2

Issue What is the process to replace a CX9400 with a CX9680 NC2? Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Upgrading a CX9200, CX9400 Eclipse, CX9900, CX9940 to a NCII Netcontroller. CMX9924. Model Number, Type change. Cause Where can I get the process to upgrade my obsolete CX controller. Resolution Cyberstation V1.74 SP2 or above is required to support the upgrading process of a CX9200, CX9900 and CX9940 up to a Netcontroller 2. The upgrade process for this is detailed in Appendix B or the NetController II Operating and Technical Reference Guide. For the CX9400 Eclipse controller they require a minimum of V1.91 to support the upgrade. For the older versions of Cyberstation that do not support direct upgrading of a model number, you will need to bring the Netcontroller II on line as a new controller, then in offline editing copy /paste (or Drag /Drop) all objects over to the Netcontroller II. Then go online and fully reload the Netcontroller II and any connected Infinet controllers. The old controller can then be deleted from the system. The objects could also be copied over using edited ASCII dump files if you prefer that method, but either way you may still have to re-animate your Pinpoint graphics unless you upgrade to a version that supports the Netcontroller II replacement. NOTE ACC-LON RS-485 and ACC-LON FTT-10A protocol options A CX9900 may be labeled CPU-8M and a CX9940 labeled CPU-4M. Later CX99 models may have FT added, eg. CPU-8M-FT When replacing a CX9900 or CX9940 it is vital to know if it requires an RS485 or FTT10 IOU module port (if this port is being used) as this CANNOT be modified on site. See article titled No response from I/O module when learning in an IOU This process cannot be used to upgrade the CMX9924 controllers.  The available range of Netcontroller II controllers available has recently been reduced, see PA-00535 "Andover Continuum Offer Optimization"

Issue In Physical Access Control lingo, the term Edge controller typically refers to a device that is installed at the door (or in close proximity to the door) and that has all of the components needed to fully control the door with only and IP connection running back for communications to the front end system. Typically Edge access controllers are PoE so that there is no need to provide a separate power feed to the device, they also provide power to all the components that comprise the door control (door lock, REX etc) Environment CyberStation CX9702 Cause Documentation Resolution Continuum does not have a physical access controller that can be considered an Edge access controller. TC900 Modbus bias, termination and number of devices

Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation, Field Devices Environment TC907-3A4LMA TC907-3A4DLMSA TC907-4FMSA TC907-3A4DPMSA TC907-3A4DPMSA-24 TC903-3A4LMA TC903-3A4DLMSA TC903-4FMSA TC903-3A4DPMSA TC903-3A4DPMSA-24 SmartX Server Cause Documentation does not state the RS-485 transceiver type for the TC900 range, making it unclear how many devices can exist under a SmartX servers RS-485 serial port ComA or ComB. Resolution Use the Worksheet for Configuration of RS-485 Bus with generic RS-485 devices on Webhelp to determine the appropriate Modbus configuration. The answers to the transceiver interface attributes below can be applied to complete the worksheet. Q1 Failsafe Receiver : The TC900 uses an RS-485 transceiver with an integrated idle-state failsafe receiver. Q2 Data Transmission Speed : TC900 thermostats can be configured to communicate at 4800, 9600, 19200 or 38400 bps. Q4 Isolated Interface : The TC900 does not provide an isolated RS-485 interface. Q6a Measured Resistance : With no electrical connections to the TC900, the measured resistance between the RS-485 low-side (-) signal and the communications common is 8.2K ohms. Based on this the unit load of the TC900 is 1.46 (12.000/8,200) Bias requirements and number of devices If there are only TC900 devices on the RS-485 bus then Generic RS-485 Network Device configuration 1 applies, configuration becomes very simple and no node or distance reductions are called for. The failsafe receivers can typically operate with no added bias resistors. Connect a 120 ohm termination resistor across the + and - data lines at the head end of the bus (typically at the SmartX server). Connect another 120 ohm termination resistor across the + and - data lines on the last node at the far end of the bus. Connect the shield drain wire to earth ground terminal rail in the panel with the SmartX server. This is the only ground connection of the shield for the complete cable segment. Connect the RET/Shield terminal (see the figure below) on the SmartX server to the ground rail in the panel using a 12 AWG (3.31 mm²) to 18 AWG (0.82 mm²) wire. Since the TC900 has a unit load of 1.4 the maximum number of devices that can be placed under each comm port using this configuration is 21 (31.5 / 1.46 = 21.5) Also check out the SmartStruxure-RS485-Controller Unit Load Quick-Help video on the Exchange. Note:  Adding an RS-485 Repeater at this point provides another 32 Units Loads to the Network which can be continued up to the Architectural Maximum defined for the hosting controller.

Resolution Move the project Stop all servers in each project and stop all projects. Close PCT application. Copy the “projects” folder from the PCT storage location and paste it to another storage location (suggested by WebHelp topic Move a Project) OR backup all servers through Workstation. Issue Wiring a MD10B-24 / MD20B-24 actuator to a Climatronic CXT / CXR / CSC Actuator Environment MD10B-24 MD20B-24 Actuator Climatronic CXT CXR CSC Cause The Climatronic controller switches the O volt side of the 24 volt supply, but the actuators shows that it requires 24 volts to open and close. Resolution The Satchwell range of Climatronic controllers have always switched the 0 volt side of the 24 volt supply to control the actuator position. CXT Controller - Terminals 13 and 14 provide 0 volts to close or open the actuator. A permanent 24 volts is provided by terminal 37. For the complete datasheet, please click HERE. CXR Controller - Terminals 23 and 24 provide 0 volts to close or open the actuator. A permanent 24 volts is provided by terminal 37. For the complete datasheet, please click HERE. CSC Controller - Terminals 33 and 32 provide 0 volts to close or open the actuator. A permanent 24 volts is provided by terminal 37. For the complete datasheet, please click HERE. The MD10B-24 / MD20B-24 datasheet shows the wiring as follows; For the complete MD10B datasheet, please click HERE. For the complete MD20B datasheet, please click HERE. The above actuator wiring shows a 0 volt connection to the common connection (1) and a switched 24 volt connection (2 or 3). To connect the MD10B-24 / MD20B-24 actuator to any of the above controllers it will be necessary to connect the actuator as follows. Controller 24 volt  (37) to connection wire (1). Controller Open signal (14, 24 and 32) to connection wire (2). Controller Close signal (13, 23 and 33) to connection wire (3). Please note that the actuator direction can be changed by repositioning the switch on the front of the actuator.
