Access Initiated Control (AIC) and Event Sequence (EV, Seq) do not work reliably on site, but the applications work on my simulation test equipment.

Issue Access Initiated Control (AIC) and Event Sequence (EV, Seq) do not work reliably on site, but the applications work on my simulation test equipment. Environment I/NET site with Access Initiated Control Cause My customer's Access Initiated Control (AIC) and Event Sequence (EV, Seq) do not work reliably on site, but the applications work on my simulation test equipment. Resolution An AIC or an Event is executed once. They are not "re-enforced." An otherwise small communication problem could inhibit the application. So if the control process is critical, use a calculation or module to re-enforce the triggering process. Refer to TCON 237, Calculations, page 7-4 and TCON 236, Direct Digital Control 14-1.

Controlling LonWorks sunblind actuator results in incorrect end position

Issue When opening (pull up) sunblind, it stops at the end of runtime and then rolls back down. When closing (pull down) sunblind, it stops at the end of runtime and then rolls back up. Environment Lonworks devices including REG-N MSE4 (SVEA 32237-346) Sunblind actuators Cause The sunblinds only have UP/DOWN functions, and there is no panel angle setting. The sunblinds are not venetian, just simple sunblinds. The sunblind actuator is preconfigured for use with venetian blinds. For example when driving down completely first the motor is energised for the time configured in UCPTdownDriveTime, then stops a short moment and then turns the angle of the lamella by energising the motor for the time configured in UCPTpanelTurnTime (dependent on the value of parameter UCPTdownPanelAngle). Resolution When not  using venetian blinds the parameters UCPTdownPanelAngle, UCPTupPanelAngle, UCPTpanelTurnTime and UCPTpanelTurnTimeBottom should be set to zero. Commands to the sunblind actuator then should as well have the value of zero in the rotation part of the SNVTsetting command.

PCU/SLI controller went to Boot State after direct connect with PC

Issue PCU/SLI controller went to Boot State after direct connecting a CBL 072 cable from the controller to a PC/Laptop. Product Line TAC INET Environment PCU SLI CBL072 cable Cause Cable connections have most likely been reversed. Resolution The longer of the two female (9 pin) connectors must plug into the PC. The shorter of the two (9 pin) female connectors connects to the serial port of the controller. Label the connectors for future reference. If this does not correct the problem, check the cable wiring or replace the cable. For pin-out information and illustration on how to connect the cable, refer to the appropriate Controller TCON.

General recommendations for LonWorks system architecture

Issue What are the general recommendations for LonWorks system architecture? Product Line TAC Vista, TAC IA Series Environment LNS database LonWorks network Vista Server I/A Series MNL Cause Understanding the different communication speeds and optimal site design can lead to improved performance of LON traffic on a network. Resolution There are three levels supported by LonWorks. TCP/IP 1.25mbs high speed backbone 78Kbs FTT-10 level Our recommendation is to maximize the use of TCP/IP, minimize the use of the 1.25mbs high-speed backbone and use a tiered structure of 78Kbs LON segments. The IP provides high-speed data transfer, which is good. The 1.25mbs high-speed bus works fine, but it has a number of special requirements that must be adhered to for proper operation. The flexibility of this 1.25mbs network is limited for the expansion of new Lonworks segments, whereas the TCP/IP is more in line with current building infrastructure making it easier to expand the LonWorks system. In the TCP/IP there are two options that allow for better communications. Standard TCP/IP configuration that will work well for most middle-sized networks. This is standard with NL220 or Lonmaker installations Orion Stack is an improvement on the standard TCP/IP and can poll multiple values at one time helping improve the TCP/IP response on large networks. More information in setting up an Orion stack improved TCP/IP LonWorks network.

Environment Xenta Programmable Controllers Xenta I/O modules Cause Universal typically means all types; however, this definition does not apply to TAC Xenta controllers. Resolution With respect to TAC Xenta controllers, the term "Universal" means more than one type of input. It is important that the project planner review the data sheet to determine the exact definition for "Universal" as it applies to any TAC Xenta device.
