Issue Cannot select new year when trying to add an Exception Event in a Digital Schedule. The new year is not listed in the drop-down list. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Webstation Cause The drop-down list does not contain any year past 2019 in Webstation 1.9 and 2.0 Resolution There are two ways to resolve this issue: Use the arrows (1) at the top of the Schedule, or the calendar (2) to the right, to select a date in the year the exception should be valid for. Click in the schedule to open up the properties window. It will now automatically have the selected year (3). Add the Exception in Workstation. The drop-down list in Workstation does not in fact contain more items than it does in Webstation, but there is the possibility to type in the year manually without using the drop-down list. In EBO version 2.0 the year in an Exception Event can be manually typed in the same way as in Workstation. This problem has been resolved in version 3.0 and later versions where the drop-down list contains later years.

Issue A controller or controllers don't communicate reliably on an I/NET LAN, often somewhere in the middle of the network. Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Site Cause As the signal travels down the cable it is affected the "characteristic impedance" at a relatively constant amount. As the signal approaches the end of the network, that impedance increases to completely "open" at the end. According to Ohms law, the higher the resistance/impedance, the higher the voltage will be as the current is applied. Therefore the signal will gain enough energy to be reflected back up the cable as noise. The controller(s) that is (are) most affected are located at the point where the reflection from the end of the network arrive during the original signal. Resolution Placing a 120 - 180 OHM 1/2 Watt Resistor at both the physical ends of the Controller LAN will clamp those reflections since the resistor is fairly close to the characteristic impedance of most cables. The Sub-LAN works differently than the Controller LAN, so DO NOT use a 120 - 180 OHM resistor on the Sub-LAN. Instead, use a 620 OHM resistor placed at both physical ends of the Sub-LAN. The reason for this is that if you use a 120 - 180 OHM resistor at each end of the Sub-LAN wiring, you remove the bias needed by the "Mark-Space" signal on the Sub-LAN. The 620 OHM resistor is large enough to absorb some of the noise without messing with the Comm. However, you might notice a slight decrease in signal strength. Also, refer to the article I/NET Controller LAN (C-LAN) Requirements for additional details. 

Issue What are the cable requirements? What is the maximum wire length? When do I add a repeater? What is the maximum number of repeaters allowed? Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Controller LAN, C-LAN Cause Incorrectly run controller LAN wire can cause communication issues between I/NET controllers and hosts. Resolution C-LAN should be run using: Two wire, twisted pair, shielded cable 24 AWG (0.206 mm2) or larger 30 pF/ft. or less between conductors 55 pF/ft. or less conductor to shield 80 - 150 ohm impedance The maximum controller LAN length is 25,000 feet (7,620 meters) assuming 4 repeaters are used. A repeater should be installed: To segment every 32 controllers Or if the LAN length exceeds 5,000 feet (1,524 meters). The maximum number of repeaters allowed is 4.

Issue Can an export file from one version of EcoStruxure Building Operation(EBO) be imported to another version of EBO?  Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Workstation Cause Export files are in general NOT backward compatible. A Script or Function Block Program that is exported from for example version 3.1.x is NOT guaranteed to import successfully into an earlier release Resolution Starting in version 3.0.x, import files exported from a later release than where they are imported will be denied. An export file from 3.1.x cannot be imported in 3.0.x. An export file from 3.0.x can however still be imported in 2.0.x, but it's not recommended, and it may fail to import successfully. In version, 3.1.x import files exported from versions older than version 1.3, will be denied. Starting in version 3.2.x, import files exported from versions older than 1.8.x will be denied.

Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Project Configuration Tool, PCT Cause Any change made in PCT increases the size of PCT project folder. This is by design and it is a normal behavior of PCT. The reason for this is that a project is a virtual machine using a dynamically allocated image that grows when memory is needed, but the image will not shrink when something is deleted.  Resolution The only way to reduce the folder size of a project is to backup all servers in the project, create a new project, restore the server backups to the new project and then delete the old project.

Issue Will a TAC Xenta 28x, 30x, 401 controllers do time synchronization in the Lon network? Product Line TAC Vista Environment Xenta 401 Xenta 281/282 Xenta 301/302 Cause The TAC Vista server will synchronize the time of all of the TAC Xenta controllers in the Vista database every 10 minutes by default but the time can be changed by a value greater than the Delta time setup in the Vista database and an update forced. Resolution The TAC Xenta group master will send out the time to all TAC Xenta devices in the group once a day and this time interval cannot be changed. If the time in the TAC Xenta Master is changed for example by the OP-panel it will send out the time to all TAC Xenta devices in its network.

Issue How to collect log files from the Project Configuration tool. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Project Configuration Tool Cause When contacting Product Support about issues with the Project Configuration tool, log files should be provided. Resolution Go to the PCT installation folder and run the program called LogCollector.exe located there. The default installation folder for versions 1.2 and higher is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Schneider Electric EcoStruxure\Building Operation\Project Configuration Tool" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Schneider Electric StruxureWare\Building Operation\Project Configuration Tool" for previous versions. Click Collect logs A program log of what LogCollector has done is displayed. A zip-file containing the collected PCT logs is created on the desktop.

Resolution  This video demonstrates… Tell if the i2 device has an Infinet ID assigned by observing the TD/RD LEDs on the device. Use the RoamIO to connect directly to the i2 device and reset its Infinet ID to zero. Confirm by visual observation of the device's TD/RD LEDs that the ID has been successfully set to zero.

Issue How to properly share background images across multiple Security Expert Client machines. Product Line Security Expert Environment Security Expert Cause It may, in some instances, be required or best practice to have a single location to store Floor Plan background images, this provides easier management of where these files are kept when using multiple clients.  Below is an example of how to set up a network share of background images. Resolution There are two methods for using Floor Plan background images across multiple client machines. Method 1 - Copy the images to each PC Set the background image to the local image file. Copy that image file to each client PC and save it in the same local network folder. Method 2 - Share the images folder on a network share that all client PC's can view. Ensure all PC's are in the same Domain or Workgroup. In each client PC, have configured an Admin user or the same user with access to the network location on the server. On the server, share the image folder with the user in step 2. Floor Plan Properties In the Floor Plan map, use the network path to the shared folder/file. Background File On the client PC's ensure the same user in step 2 is created and can see the network share by browsing to it. Network Share

Issue What is the procedure for upgrading firmware in an I/A Controller? Product Line TAC IA Series Environment Workplace Commissioning Tool I/A Series MNB Cause Improvements to MNB firmware require upgrades to be made periodically to the controllers. Resolution This video demonstrates how to upgrade MNB devices with the I/A Commissioning Tool.

Issue In version 1.2.2.22 you don't get a confirmation when the ES/AS is deleted. The AS or ES is gone after clicking on the Delete button. When an ES or AS was deleted from a project in earlier versions of the PCT you had to enter a password for the admin account as confirmation.   Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Project Configuration Tool (PCT) version 1.2.2.22 Cause The confirmation when deleting a device in PCT is taken away in version 1.2.2.22 Resolution When starting the ES/AS be very careful, the start button is just under the delete button.

Resolution 1. Uninstall PCT from “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features”. 2. Uninstall PCT Client. 3. Uninstall Oracle VM VirtualBox.

Use Run as Administrator for both installing and running PCT Note: You can right-click the PCT icon, open properties, select the “Compatibility” tab, and check the box “Run this program as an administrator” Test PCT by opening up the software application, creating a project, creating a server, and opening it up in WorkStation If PCT opens and works then enable Windows firewall and Anti-Virus program. - User may need to allow PCT in Windows firewall and PCT utilize port 9091 as default. - User may need to add exceptions within Anti-Virus software settings. We recommend installing Microsoft Fix 50410 to prefer IPv4 over IPv6. Issue Unable to open servers in PCT from Webstation. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Project Configuration Tool (PCT) Cause The incorrect IP address or ports used in the browser. Resolution Select the server from a project. Expand the Properties tab from the right-hand sidebar Record the Engineering IP address and HTTPS port number Open a browser and enter "https://{IP address}:{port}" or ""http://{IP address}:{port}"  

Issue PCT core and memory setup documentation does not exist Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Project Configuration Tool (PCT) Cause It is unclear what PCT core and memory settings should be configured for different kind of projects.     Resolution For optimal use, the minimum recommendation “Cores” should be limited to four (4), and have two (2) GB of “Memory” allocated Should you notice your CPU usage increase past 75%, the number of Cores can be increased as needed to help stabilize the system and maintain efficiency. Additional memory can be allocated for larger projects with many AS’s or multiple users working on the project at the same time. The amount of memory will be limited by the available memory on the machine, and the memory allocated to all the projects that are running.

Issue PCT utilizes a large volume of hard drive space when the backup limit is not set. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Project Configuration Tool (PCT) Cause The virtual machine reserves additional hard drive volume each time a backup is created. Once this space has been allocated to the VM’s hard drive, it can not be reversed without deleting, recreating the project server then restoring the station from a backup.  (Once a VM grows, it cannot shrink.) Resolution The number of backups should be limited to a maximum of two (2).
