When opening an application file in Workplace Tech 5.x, the following error message appears: "AppXMLAddon error code: -##########" "unknown error."

Issue When opening an application file in Workplace Tech 5.x, the following error message appears:  "AppXMLAddon error code: -##########" "unknown error."  (where # = random numbers) Environment Workplace Tech 5.X Cause This error is caused by an illegal character in the application's nciLocation snvt. The character looks like a bold vertical line. WorkPlace Tech 4.0 did not have an issue with this character but WorkPlace Tech 5.x generates the above error. Resolution To eliminate the error: Open the application with WorkPlace Tech 5.x and continue to click OK until the drawing opens.  Locate the nciLocation snvt and check its initial value. Delete the unknown character from that entry field, and re-compile the application.

Sigma Graphics – How to Create and Fill a Shape from Multiple Lines

Issue Users want to create a custom shape using multiple lines in Sigma Graphics and fill it with color. Product Line Satchwell BAS & Sigma Environment Satchwell Sigma Graphics Cause Shapes created by combining multiple lines into a single object cannot be directly filled with color in Sigma Graphics. Resolution To achieve a filled shape, use the Polygon Tool as a workaround. Although slightly more complex, it allows for color filling once the shape is completed and closed. Step-by-Step Instructions: Design the Shape: Sketch your desired shape using lines as a reference. Use the Polygon Tool: Select the Polygon Tool. Click on each corner of your reference shape to replicate it. Terminate the Polygon Function: Press the Escape key to end the polygon drawing. The shape may temporarily disappear. Save and Reopen: Save the graphic. Close and reopen the file. Clean Up: Delete the original reference shape made of lines. Connect and Fill: Highlight the new polygon shape. From the right-hand menu, select Connect Closed. Then choose Shape Fill and select your desired color. Result: You now have a custom shape filled with color, created using the Polygon Tool.

Cannot restore SAV file to controller or cannot save controller in Network Configuration

Issue Cannot restore SAV file to Controller be it a 7798, 7793, 7716, 7756, 7718, etc. and possibly cannot save controller in Netcon Environment I/NET site with controllers Cause Need to restore database to controller but cannot save in Network Configuration Resolution Problem is the database does not have what Network Configuration sees, then you have the + symbol in Cnf on the far right. If you save, then exit Netcon, then go back into Netcon and it still shows a + symbol in Cnf, then the save is not being saved to the database. Remove SQL database and create fresh clean database. Then save the controller in Netcon then you can restore the SAV file to the controller.

"Register As Reader Expander" incremented by 1 when imported by Data Sync Service

Issue When importing Security Expert controllers into Security Expert Server using the Data Sync Service, the Register As Reader Expander address field is different from the value in the CSV file. The address field is incremented by 1. Product Line EcoStruxure Security Expert Environment Security Expert Server Security Expert Data Sync Service Cause Register As Reader Expander values in the Security Expert SQL database are stored as integers where indexing starts at 0, whereas in the Security Expert Client the same values are displayed as integers starting at 1. The Data Sync Service updates the database values directly, which is why the values differ between the CSV file and the user interface. Resolution In the CSV import file, decrement values in the Register As Reader Expander column by 1. For example: If the address in the user interface is '1', the value in the CSV file should be changed to '0'. See screenshot from Data Sync Service (left) and Security Expert Client (right) below.

Number of COV subscriptions supported by an RP-C

Issue What is the limitation on the number of COV subscriptions an RP-C can handle? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Room Controller (RPC) Cause When setting up a binding to an RP-C to read a value from another device or transfer a value in the RP-C to another device COV subscriptions are often used.  Resolution The number of subscriptions an RP-C can support is limited primarily by the available resources of the controller. An RP-C with a single point can support thousands of subscriptions but that’s not a realistic configuration on a live site. If resources were allocated to support a defined number of COV subscriptions, this would lock down those resources (primarily memory), making less room for other applications. Since the maximum number of subscriptions depends on how many available resources the controller has at the moment when a subscription is made, there is no guaranteed number on how many subscriptions an RP-C can support.

Issue Error: "No Reply" when trying to connect to a controller on a remote site after dialing in Environment I/NET Cause Error: "No Reply" when trying to connect to a controller on a remote site after dialing in Resolution This symptom can be caused by the wrong settings in the host’s INET configuration profile. Check to see you are using the correct INET profile. Make sure “Dial Link” is NOT selected. (Fortunately, an Integrated NPR Dial profile does not give you the chance to make this incorrect selection.)

What are the rules for inheritance in TGML?

Issue What are the rules for inheritance in TGML? Environment TGML editor Cause In order to create TGML components that function as designed,  it is important to understand the TGML rules for inheritance Resolution Attribute inheritance means that a child element inherits (gets) the attribute value from an ancestor element if the attribute value is undefined (omitted) and if the attribute has been specified for an ancestor (any of the parents).
