Trend log values not updating in report server

Issue After a specific date, trend log values are no longer transferred to the report server.  In the table tbEventLogs, the column NumberOfRecords continously shows over 50000 Environment Web Reports Cause For a currently unknown reason, at some point a mismatch between index sequence numbers and time stamps has occured, and therefore the same log values are attempted transferred over and over again. Resolution The reporting agent needs to be set up to read more records to get over trouble 1: Open the file "SE.WebReports.StruxureWareReportingAgent.exe.config" located in the reporting agent installation directory. Use notepad or similar. 2: Edit the line containing "numLogTimeRecordToRead"  changing the value 5000 to 20000 3: Restart the agent 4: Wait until the column NumberOfRecords in the table tbEventLogs shows a number lower than 20000 5: Change the value back from 20000 to 5000 in the config file 6: Restart the agent

Unable to download / commission b3 device

Issue After having discovered a b3 device attempting to download results in a failure. Error details show device as being offline. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SmartStruxure Automation Server with b3 device on BACnet MSTP network Cause This issue can be caused by a missing serial number for the device. Resolution Check to see that the serial number of the device is set. This can be viewed by right-clicking the device and selecting Properties and then going to the Advanced tab. By default, the serial number is part of the Object ID and the BACnet name. You can extract the numeric portion then paste it into the Serial number field and then try to download again. The serial number can also be found on the tag on the device itself.

Alarm Routing configuration to 2 servers for a Sigma - StruxureWare Building Operation transition

Issue Correct alarm routing configuration when using both Sigma and StruxureWare Building Operation together following a transition Environment Sigma and StruxureWare Building Operation transition Cause This article is to show the correct configuration when sending alarms to both the Sigma Client and StruxureWare Building Operation following a transition. Resolution In addition to the main Sigma Server add the ES server as a Server (node) on the Sigma network. We recommend using the actual ES server name. In the example below Server 101 is the Sigma Server and Server 102 is the ES   Manually add a dummy Sigma Client for the ES and assign the ES server to the client   Check the settings for the existing Sigma Server   Add both clients to the routesets to enable alarms to be sent to both servers. Download the routeset.rec and att.set files to all outstations

How to show the forced icon for a BACnet value in a Graphic

Issue Input points on BACnet devices displaying in a Graphic show the forced icon on the Graphic when the input is manually forced, not so for value objects such as Analog Value. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment BACnet Automation Server Enterprise Server Cause The reason for this is that when a point such as an input is forced StruxureWare Building Operation automatically puts it out of service and when the input is unforced puts back in service, that is not the case for a value object. The screen shot below illustrates the problem, as seen, both the input point under a b3 (Ct1CwSTmp) as well as the analog value (CtCwSSpt) in the AS are forced but only the input is displaying the hand icon indicating the that object is forced. Resolution A work around is to create a PE Script program to set the out of service property to TRUE when the value is forced and to FALSE when the value is NOT forced. Please note that the program uses the value of priority 8 to determine whether the value object has been forced or not, if the Priority 8 is NOT NULL then the object has been forced, note that this presents a problem for binary objects as well as for the case where the analog object is forced to a value of ZERO as PE Script can't differentiate between NULL and zero. In the case at hand, the program is located in the Application folder under the BACnet interface of the Automation Server.

Bound values pushed to BACnet device stop updating after power is cycled to the device.

Issue Have some values being pushed to a BACnet Loytec L-VIS device via mirrored point in the AS, after the L-VIS screen is powered down/up the bound values are pushed on the next change, for analog value this does not present a big problem as they change frequently, but for binary values is a problem. Environment BACnet AS Cause Guaranteed transfer has not been configured on the binding. Resolution Set a transfer interval in 'Guaranteed transfer even if value has not changed' In the example below, the value will be pushed out once a minute regardless of whether it has changed or not.

Server Offline. Duplicate device name or network identifier alarms received

Issue Automation Servers go OFFLINE Alarms received about duplicate device name and/or duplicate network identifier. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Enterprise Server, ES Automation Server, AS, AS-P, AS-B BACnet Cause In the BACnet interface duplicate information has been entered for the BACnet IP network for 2 or more Automation Servers. Resolution Make sure the BACnet IP network and broadcast address in the BACnet interface of the ES and all the Automation Servers  are set to a unique value and they match the IP address of the Server (AS, ES) You may have to physically disconnect the units from the network and then connect one at a time in order for Workstation to be able to communicate with the AS and change the configuration of the BACnet IP network.

Vista webstation - HTTP GET method not implemented (SOAP-ENV:Client)

Issue Cant login to webstation Loginpage for webstation Environment Vista webstation Cause Mostly  caused by that another process is using the same port as webstation do Resolution Run the command netstat -aonb | find ":80" in the command prompt to see what process PID is taking the port 80, If Vista is using another port change 80 to what port you use. A common scenario is that it is the TAC Vista SmartStruxure interface that is taking the port, and that after a reboot, the interface starts up before the IIS. Change the port used in the interface to something else

Enterprise Server - Issue associated with changing the communications port number.

Issue Newly added Automation Servers do not communicate correctly with other devices. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment StruxureWare Building Operation 1.5 StruxureWare Building Operation 1.6 Communications Tab Cause An existing and working site has been extended by adding two new Automation Servers, these servers do not respond to Lead/shadow functions and only show the Enterprise Server in their "Communications Tab" Resolution A system is installed, and the Enterprise Server port numbers are set as required. Automation Servers are then added, and in the communications tab for the Enterprise Server and Automation Servers, all devices are seen.   If the Enterprise Server port number is then changed, things appear to work as normal, but If a new Automation Server is added to the system, it appears to attach correctly, but only the Enterprise Server details are shown in its communication tab. Selecting to "Repair server communications" does not correct this.     To resolve the issue, it is necessary to select the Enterprise Server, and in it's communication tab, change the port number to the number set in the Software Administrator.     Repair server communications, can now be used to update the Automation Server.

What are the Currency units?

Issue What are the currency units 1-10? Environment StruxureWare Building Operation site Cause When adding a unit to a value, you have the choice of Currency units. Currency units 1 through 10 are not defined. Resolution Using Workstation units, Currency1…Currency10 BACnet specific and to be used in BACnet devices rather than in the StruxureWare Building Operation system. These currency units have absolutely nothing to do with money (US dollar $, GBP £, Euro €, etc.) Currency units (1-10), are to be able to translate BACnet units using StruxureWare Building Units. Basically, if a site encounters a BACnet device which is using one of those units, Building Operation needs to be able to convert it to something displayable in Building Operation. The main reason they are there is so Building Operation can comply with the “BACnet workstation” requirements. In most cases the customers need for setting a currency unit to a value could be solved by simply adding the label containing the currency symbol after another label stating the value itself into a graphic.

ES Database Size

Issue ES Database has grown to several gigabyte Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Enterprise Central Cause ES Database size can grow quite large when the ES crashes often. Open Software Administrator and find the location of the ES db folder. Below are two screen shots of the Logs and Crash Information folders. As can be seen, these dump files can increase the size of the database. Resolution Once the reason for the Enterprise Server crash is resolved, these files can be either be deleted or, preferably be moved to another storage/drive location. If the ES/EC is still crashing, all the core dumps should be collected and sent to to your local support team for processing. Due to the size of the crash dumps, upload to BOX or similar and provide the link to the support team.

Windows power save interrupting system operation

Issue The Windows power save is interrupting system operation, i.e if you have a graphic open on a Workstation which is talking to another PC and the mouse has been inactive for some time, when you move the mouse it takes some time to update the graphics Environment Windows ES Continuum Inet Vista SmartStruxure SmartStruxure Lite SBO Cause This is caused by the Windows OS going into a power save mode, this will normally close down the CPU, Network adapter, graphics card etc Resolution   PC is going into a power save mode, Go into, "Control panel", make sure view is "Small icons", then click "Power Options" in here you will have a number of option, set this to "High performance" then "change plan settings" make sure all are set to Never or high performance, when you have done this, goto "Network and Internet" then "Change adapter settings", right click on your network adapter and goto "properties" then click "Configure" then "Power Management" make sure that the power save settings are off, this will stop the network from going to sleep.   This will need to be done on the ES, Workstation PC, Continuum Workstation, SQL server, etc This should then stop you having the delay as the PC wakes up

Error "Baudrate on MSTP side not found Proceed anyway?" when connecting to MSTP with RoamIO

Issue Getting error “Baudrate on MSTP side not found Proceed anyway?” when trying to connect to MSTP with RoamIO Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment MSTP BACnet Cause Before the RoamIO can start communicating on the MSTP bus it must first determine the baud rate of the network, it does this by listening to the traffic on the network until is able to determine the baud. If there is no traffic on the network the RoamIO will not be able to detect the baud. Possible causes: If the RoamIO is directly connected to a device that does not have a valid mac id (such as a brand new b3 from the factory which has a slave mac id). The cable used to connect the RoamIO to the MSTP network is the wrong one. Resolution Possible solutions: Make sure at least ONE of the devices on the MSTP has a valid MAC ID. Make sure the cable used to connect the RoamIO to the MSTP network is correct. Note that even though the cable that ships with the RoamIO looks the same as the cable used on a telephone handset, it has a different pinout. The RoamIO cable is a straight thru cable while the telephone cable is NOT. Here is what the RoamIO cable pinout looks like:

Testing SNMP alarms

Issue There is no full end to end description on how to test SNMP alarms in SmartStruxure 1.6.1 and later Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SNMP Alarms Cause Only a guide on how to create the SNMP alarms is available, but there is no guide available on how to test them. For general information regarding SNMP traps, refer to the following Web Help links: Versions 1.6 and 1.7 SNMP Notification Properties Create SNMP Notification Wizard – SNMP Notification Page SNMP Notification View Version 1.8 and later SNMP Notification Distribution Method Create Notification Wizard - Configure SNMP Page Resolution Download and install "MIB Browser" from iReasoning Download the mib file for SmartStruxure Load the SmartStruxure mib file into the MIB Browser through "File"-->"Load MIBs", and select the SmartStruxure mib file Create a simple alarm in SmartStruxure and make it trigger on a digital point Create a SNMP notification with the following settings. To get to the conditions/filter, open (double click on it or hit enter) the SNMP notification. Only showing the properties of it will not show the filter settings. "Address" is the address of the SNMP manager that receives the SNMP notification, in this test "localhost" since the SNMP manager is installed locally. "User name" is the user name of the user on the SNMP manager that receives the notification. In filter settings, select normal and alarm state, and add "Source server = *" as a condition In the MIB browser, select "Tools"-->"Trap Receiver" Trigger the alarm in SmartStruxure An alarm will now be seen in the MIB browsers trap receiver window

Export special does not save output bindings

Issue After performing an Export special of an object in SmartStruxure and then importing it into a database, the output bindings of the object are no longer there. Environment Export and Import Workstation Automation Server Enterprise Server Cause Performing an export special and then importing that xml file into another database or the same database after the object has been deleted will no longer have the output bindings of that object. Resolution This behavior functions as designed. See Section 20.31 of the StruxureWare Building Operation: Technical Reference Guide. The documentation states that: "Objects or properties with bindings where the bound objects are in separate import files. To preserve bindings during an import, import the references objects to the targeted server prior to importing the actual objects or programs that refer to these objects. For example, import any referenced I/O points before importing the programs that read and write the I/O points. No matter what order of import is used, the import process will restore the bindings if they are valid at the time of import."
