Easiest way to determine what is causing a point to be exported

Issue If I have a point that is flagged for Export what is the easiest way to determine what is causing it to be exported? Environment Cyberstation Cause Determine the cause of a point to be export.  Resolution The easiest method to determine what is causing a point to be exported is to send the site to an ASCII file from Continuum explorer. Then open the dump file and search the file for all occurrences of that point name. Review each occurrence to see if there is an alarm attached or a program in a different controller that references this point. NOTE This same method is the quickest method of finding various objects that may be reference by other objects as these are often not available in listview eg. Objects referencing Alarm Enrollments, Event Notifications, Trigger points, Alarm Points, etc.

There is no need to represent a physical layer repeater in a LON network

Issue When adding a physical layer Xenta repeater, or Loytec smart-switch, to split a single channel into multiple segments, there is no need to represent that repeater/smart-switch in the LON network.  It will be invisible to the LNS database, and will function only on the physical layer. Environment LON Network with more than 64 devices on a single segment Xenta Repeater, Loytec Smart-Switch Cause A single LON segment can have up to 64 devices (though a conservative recommendation is typically closer to 50).  A segment is a single LON wire that is separated from another segment either by a physical layer repeater, smart-switch, or router.  A channel can have up to 3 segments separated by a repeater with a limitation of 128 devices (or nodes) total on the channel. Resolution There is no need to represent a physical layer repeater/smart-switch on the LON drawing or in the LNS network.  It will be operating on the physical layer either amplifying signals or filtering noise and bad data, and repeating messages on the wire.  The LON network will only see a single channel without any indication that there are 2 segments, other than the fact that there may be more than 64 devices on that channel.

Controlling a Forta actuator from PLC system

Issue Controlling a Forta actuator from PLC system using 0-10V output. Environment TAC Forta actuator  PLC controller Cause The PLC system is using a 0-10V control output to control the TAC Forta (MX and X1 input), powering the TAC Forta (G and G0 input)using a separate transformer. Resolution As long as the PLC system and TAC forta units are fed from separate transformers, this should cause no problem, and galvanic isolators on the control signal should not be required. Make sure to not mix up G and G0 in case several TAC Forta actuators are fed through the same transformer.
