Using AVI files with Link Areas in I/NET Seven

Issue Using AVI files with Link Areas in I/NET Seven Environment I/NET Site Cause How does one use AVI files with Link Areas in I/NET Seven Resolution AVI files are not officially supported in I/NET Seven but the following functionality does exist. Link Areas act a bit differently when layered on top of an AVI file in an I/NET Seven graphic page. Normally link areas are always visible on top any other graphic page object if the link area is clickable for page navigation, but when used in conjuncture with an AVI file the image of the AVI file are visible on top of the link area despite the fact that the link area is the functional item that is interacted with when you click in that area on the live graphic page. Because of this behavior you can use a link area that contains no text and make a user defined area of the AVI movie act as a link to another page.

Manually Adding Xenta device with Group bindings in Lonmaker

Issue Can I add the group bindings manually as the option to create group binding in the System Plug-in takes time and controllers are taken offline for the period of the process Environment Lonmaker Vista Cause This is  possible to do and works very well and effectively if you understand the process  Resolution Follow these steps to add TAG 0 system bindings and TAG 1 Xenta bindings to your new Xenta controller. In Lonmaker find the source of the TAG 0 binding buy finding any TAG 0 existing binding. Then right mouse click on the tag number and select Go to reference. This will take you to the source of the TAG 0 bindings. If a list of controllers appear then you are already at the source controller. Then Carry out a connection as normal in Lonmaker on that function block. Right click on the Virtual function block with the TAG 0 source and select the connect option. Select the TAG 0 option under the Hub tab then select the target tab and add the new Xenta controller to the system with the Add FB/SNs button. Then select the TAG 0 in the virtual function block of the new Xenta and click on the Add button. The select the OK button. This will add the TAG0 binding to the new Xenta device with the correct binding type. The next step is similar to the TAG 0 but for the TAG 1. You need to locate the TAG 1 Xenta group that you are adding the new Xenta controller into. Once you have located the TAG1 source use the same connection method as TAG0 but use the TAG1 in the virtual blocks. The final step is to download the added controller and the group master.

The time keeps changing between the workstation and the controller.

Issue The time keeps changing between the workstation and the controller. Environment Continuum controllers Cause UTC offsets handle time zone differences between controllers and workstations and may need to be set. Also, a time synchronization program may be required to keep the times the same. Resolution Check the UTC offsets in Cyberstation Explorer. Verify that the Network UTC offset matches the Workstation's UTC offset. Check and verify you have a Time Sync program that synchronizes the time between the workstation and controller.

Using an Area control in pinpoint to activate an area into a lockdown state

Issue Clicking an Area control in pinpoint will only put the area into a lockdown state instead of cycling its lockdown state Environment Cyberstation Pinpoint (Graphic) Cause The Area control on a graphic panel will only activate the lockdown. Resolution In order to remove a lockdown activation that was selected by an area control on a graphic, editing of the area object itself will need to be performed in order to remove the lockdown. This is as designed since for a security feature of locking down entire areas, there should be no mistake of double clicking on the graphics area control to accidently disable the lockdown.

Can an I/NET system communicate across ethernet routers which use Network Address Translation (NATing)?

Issue Can an I/NET system communicate across ethernet routers which use Network Address Translation (NATing)? Environment I/NET Site Cause Can an I/NET system communicate across ethernet routers which use Network Address Translation (NATing)? Resolution In general, I/NET works best if we are able to pass an unadulterated packet of information from one host/NPR on the ethernet to another...and back again. Network Address Translation in a commercial router does just that; translates the address of a packet coming into the router to one of several devices that reside on the other side of it. I/NET workstations can successfully deal with NATing or spoofing because they utilize commercially available network drivers which do the communication for us. Under most circumstances, the NPRs can NOT because they have a limited set of network drivers which does not accommodate NAT....or DHCP for that matter. There are generally four different implementations of NAT. Static, Dynamic, Overloaded and Overlapped. The NPR will only stand a chance at working in a Static NAT implementation, but we do not recommend it. If you must install NPRs on such a network, call Product Support for assistance.

Unable to create new OGC graphic pages in Xbuilder 5.0.2 or later because the edit option has been grayed out

Issue Unable to create new OGC graphic pages in Xbuilder 5.0.2 or later.  The edit option has been grayed out and I cannot open the OGC graphic editor. Environment XBuilder TGML Graphics Editor Vista Cause In Xbuilder 5.0.2 the system was changed to support UTF-8 character encoding. Since OGC Graphics pages cannot support this change all new graphic pages added to XBuilder will be forced to be TGML pages which support the UTF-8 character encoding.  Resolution OGC graphics created in earlier versions of XBuilder will still display properly when those projects are upgraded to newer versions of XBuilder but they can no longer be edited. If changes need to be made to these files you can follow one of the two options listed below:  #1. In order to make changes to these graphics the files must first be upgraded to TGML graphics. This is done by opening the OGC graphics with the TGML editor and the graphics will be automatically updated. #2. It is possible for 2 versions of XBuilder to reside on one PC. You can download the 5.0.2 version of XBuilder and use this version of the tool to make the necessary changes. Once the changes are made you will save the project and open the edited project in the newer version of XBuilder.
