Card readers are continuously in "power up" sequence when connected to an ACX5740

Issue ACX5740 appears normal when powered up but as soon as a card reader is wired, the card reader is continuously in "power up" sequence whether reader voltage is set to 5V or 12V. The reader is designed for either of these voltages. Environment ACX5740, ACX5720 Cause The ACX5740 power input was miswired at the power supply. It was being powered from the battery charging circuit instead of the DC output of the power supply. The charging circuit apparently uses a pulsing 24V DC voltage designed to recharge a battery. When powering the ACX (designed  to accept 10-28VDC) it looks normal at first. However, the pulsing of the reader power output is not within the card reader input voltage specs.  Resolution The ACX5740 power was miswired. It was being powered from the battery charging circuit instead of the DC output of the power supply. Proper wiring to the power supply DC output fixed the issue.

What are the consequences of using DHCP addresses for I/NET?

Issue What are the consequences of using DHCP addresses for I/NET? Environment I/NET site Cause What are the consequences of using DHCP addresses for I/NET? Resolution Although the host PCs can communicate with each other using DHCP, the NPR has no facility for it. (The investigation for this has been mentioned in an SRS document for a host load many months into the future. Read here “Just forget about it”.) Even if you get the hosts working with dynamic IP addresses, the host masking editor will continue to grow. At the very least it will be a nuisance to edit. They may encounter problems where the reference host will not allow the PC to run I/NET because it already has a listing for that host number and/or that link number associated with a different IP address. Then they have a mess. Try to insist on static IP addresses for I/NET boxes….host or NPR

DMS MSC-NC Connects but Fails to Access Networked MicroSmart Controllers

Issue Connection to a DMS MicroPlex MSC-NC is successful; however, attempts to access a networked MicroSmart controller fail. Product Line TAC IA Series Environment DMS MicroPlex MSC-NC MicroSmart Controller Cause The Flash ROM in the MSC-NC requires reloading. Corrupted or incomplete flash memory can prevent proper communication with networked MicroSmart controllers. Resolution Reload the Flash ROM in the MSC-NC: Power down the MSC-NC. Install jumper J1 (located near the processor). Power up the MSC-NC. Connect using DCT. Remove J1 jumper. Perform Alt-L in DCT to start Flash ROM installation. Additional Benefits: Resets backdoor password issues. Removes “ghost” controllers. Corrects non-standard service alarm codes (e.g., 44+service alarm44144144/144).

File Master appears to work with the Equalized Client, but will not replicate

Issue Filemaster is Full SQL 2005 and Equalized Client is SQL Express fails to equalize.  Environment Full SQL 2005 for the Filemaster SQL Express for the Equalized Client 2.31 version of TAC I/NET Seven 2.4x version of TAC I/NET Seven Cause  SQL Express doesn't start equalization services automatically. Resolution The Equalized Client refused to replicate the database with the Filemaster. Equalization is not succeeding even though the little icon may say it is equalized. Filemaster shows pending. Start I/NET and check the host passwords to see if equalization has taken place. The following steps will cause equalization to take place:  Restart the pc to ensure there isn't a program hanging in the memory. Demote Equalized Client to Stand Alone. Exit I/NET and I/O Server Go to Start/Run/CMD Maneuver to the C:\Program Files\Inet Seven folder and type the following:  ineteqzmerge /unregserver     press the Enter key ineteqzmerge /service     press the Enter key Now go to Services by selecting My Computer/Manage/Services and look for the Service running called InetEQZMerge and start the service and select Automatic. Now you should promote the I/NET workstation to Equalized Client ensuring you put the Filemaster Name rather than IP address. The snapshot will be delivered to the Equalized Client. After equalization you may need to shut down I/Net and the I/O Server one last time and then restart I/NET Seven. Now return to Services by selecting My Computer/Manage/Services and look for the Service running called InetEQZMerge where you should STOP then START the service again.  One way to test equalization from Filemaster to Equalized Client: in I/NET Seven under Edit/Host Computer/Passwords add a user/password. Check the other computer to see if the database replicated the new user/password and Vice Versa. If ineteqzmerge is already running as a service.  Try stopping and starting the service.

Issue What is the processor and memory type & speed that is used in Continuum controllers? Environment All Continuum controllers Cause The processor speed for the i2/ b3 controllers are not defined on the datasheets. Resolution The bCX1 uses the Coldfire processor and it is running at 66Mhz. It has 32Mb SDRAM and 16Mb Flash memory.   The Netcontroller II uses a MCF5275 processor running at 150 MHz. It has 128Mb SDRAM and 32Mb Flash memory. The i2/b3 controllers also use a Coldfire processor but at 40MHz frequency. The memory on the i2/b3 controllers varies from model to model and these are detailed on their specific datasheets on the Buildings Business Extranet. Some examples are: b3920 1Mb SD RAM, 2Mb Flash, b3810 256Kb SDRAM 1Mb Flash, b3850 128Kb SDRAM 1Mb Flash.

Mirroring SNVTs from multiple Lon Devices to Local Node

Issue Added multiple Lon devices to Lon Network and need to mirror SNVTs from more than one device to the Local Node Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Automation Server Premium Building Operation Enterprise Server Cause Using SNVT bindings between devices and the Local Node of the EBO server allows LON communications bandwidth to be optimized by using the LonWorks protocol Send and Receive Heartbeats configured per device. However, it can be a time-consuming task to mirror SNVTs from multiple identical devices. This time can be reduced by selecting SNVTs in multiple devices using search. Resolution Create a new search Search for one SNVT that is available on multiple devices Use this article to create the mirrored SNVTs in the local node: Creating Network Variables Automatically Search for the next SNVT that is available on multiple devices Repeat until all desired SNVTs are mirrored. RECOMMENDATION: Save the searches for use later when adding more new devices.
