License required for Advanced Display v3

Issue I have Advanced Display V3 connected to my EBO server. Do I need a client license? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Advanced Display V3 Cause Building Operation Advanced Display V3 (AD v3) is an industrial-grade Human Machine Interface (HMI) that can easily be locked to an application such as EcoStruxure Building Operation WebStation to create a dedicated tool for local operation and maintenance of an EcoStruxure BMS. Resolution When connected to EcoStruxure BMS server, AD v3 is counted as one WebStation client. Starting from EBO v2, WorkStation and WebStation will both be considered a client, and each will require a concurrent license to be able to log into the system. Three client licenses are included with each Enterprise Central and each Enterprise Server. When logging directly into a SmartX server, the number of WebStation connections is limited only by the Architectural Guidelines*, which says that a client license is only needed if the AD v3 is connected to Enterprise Server or Enterprise Central directly. *From EBO 3.1 and forward there is no need to activate a Client feature license on SmartX servers to be able to connect WebStation to a SmartX server and log in. While versions 3.0.4 and 3.0.3 with hotfixes accomplished the same functionality, they did so by stating that 99 clients were available.

WebReports Reporting Agent Service continuously restarts

Issue Reporting Agent continuously restarts Windows Event logs show appcrash for Reporting Service  Trend / Event data no longer transferring to WebReports / Report Server.   Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Report Server  Cause If there are bindings within the Extended Trend Log that is from itself (so a cyclic loop). By default when you select the Transfer trigger variable the SmartLog property is selected (as shown below).  This is an invalid configuration but can be accidentally configured and saved.    This will cause the ES read to go into an infinite loop and cause the application to eventually restart (crash).  By setting the Reporting Agent to Debug (using the SBO Reports Agent Config - Communities (se.com)) the last few messages before the restart within the log file will show messages related to "Entering IncludeLogInReports()" with the same set of Extended trend Logs repeat (if there is more than one).  The image below shows an example of the Extended Trend Log shown in the above screenshot.    Resolution After locating the relevant extended trend logs with these invalid bindings, delete these invalid bindings and restart the Reporting Agent service and the data should then be read correctly.     Remember to revert the log level back to INFO before restarting the agent to not overload the logs with too much detail.

SmartStruxure - SE IntesisBox does not support Read Property Multiple (RPM).

Issue Binding a SmartStruxure Analogue value to a Analogue output in the SE IntesisBox (Panasonic Air Conditioning). Environment IntesisBox Panasonic RPM Read Property Multiple Cause Attempting to bind the analogue value to the IntesisBox analogue output causes the following error; Resolution In this case, the AS database has the wrong unit (no-units) associated with the object, since it does not match to the units in the device "Degrees-Celsius" the failure occurs' This is corrected in StruxureWare Building Operation 1.5, where the unit id is not uploaded if the device does not support read-property-multiple, and it appears from the device documentation, that the IntesisBox does not support RPM. As an immediate workaround, the user can configure the unit id of the analog output object directly - configure the "Value" property to have a unit of Degrees Celsius.  To view the IntesisBox Panasonic manual, please click HERE.

WorkStation crashes while downloading TAC Xenta programmable controller

Issue During download or commission of a TAC Xenta programmable controller, WorkStation crashes with the following error message "A problem has occurred in this application" Click here to view the full error message Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation WorkStation v. 1.7 or earlier TAC Vista Transition Cause During the transition from TAC Vista to SmartStruxure, it is possible that some information is imported with content that is not possible to introduce in the system with the normal engineering tools. If the neuron ID of a TAC Xenta IO module is not valid according to SmartStruxure, it will usually not be allowed to initiate the download process, but as the value has been introduced by the migration tool, this is possible. Here is an example of an invalid neuron ID entered for the IO module, and "Commission" being enabled Resolution Enter a valid neuron ID for the IO module before downloading, or remove the IO module from the Menta program. Note that this is fixed in SBO 1.8.1 and later versions.

Webstation shows 12 hour AM/PM time format even when the PC is setup to 24 hour format

Issue Webstation shows 12 hour AM/PM time and U.S date format even when the PC is setup to 24 hour and UK date formats   Environment Webstation Localization Cause Webstation does not get its time and date format from the Windows PC, but from the installed and selected language pack. To change the format, you need to install the language pack for your country or language. There might not be language packs for all languages and countries, and unfortunately there is currently no option to UK/ European English in Webstation. Resolution The workaround is to install a modified English language pack. Download and save and install one of the following two zip files, and install as described below. DO NOT UNZIP THE FILE! UK English 24 hours format with time zone indication UK English 24 hours format without time zone indication    While you are logged into Webstation, Select Settings, then Add or remove language Select "Choose file" and browse to the location you downloaded the language pack .zip file to and select ok Then under settings, select "Change regional settings" You should now have the option to select "English (UK) (en-UK)"  you should now see that the date and time have now changed to UK format.

Robertshaw T99 temperature sensor integration to SBO

Issue Can the old Robertshaw T99 temperature sensors be integrated to SBO? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation, TAC IA Series Environment SBO all versions Cause Retrofit job installation Resolution According to the RTD-DI-16 specification sheet, the T99 sensor can be integrated to SBO as follows with some limitations. Configuration Use an RTD-DI-16 module with a 2 or 3 wire RTD resistive input. Select 1000 ohm for the Sensor class property of the RTD input object. Configure the Conversion Settings properties of the RTD input object near the endpoints of the temperature range to be measured using values from the T99 temperature/resistance table. Configure the remaining properties of the RTD input as needed. Limitations Input Range. An RTD-DI-16 input configured for 1000 ohm operation is limited to an input resistance range of 500 to 2200 ohms. This will limit the temperature range that can be measured with a T99 sensor to ~115 deg. F maximum. Linearity Error. Depending on the range of temperatures to be measured and the needs of the application, linearity error may be significant. This can be corrected by using a script or function block program to linearize the signal based on the T99 temperature/resistance table values.

Upgrade to 1.5.0 or 1.6.0 fails

Issue When trying to upgrade a database to version 1.5 or 1.6 the upgrade fails Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Enterprise Server Automation Server Cause There can be various reasons for the upgrade failing. At this moment there are two known issues: Issue with specific LonWorks devices such as the T-Stat T7300 Too complex or long list of email addresses in notification objects Resolution Solution for issue 1: Issue with specific LonWorks devices such as the T-Stat T7300 Contact Product Support and ask for hotfix 1.5.0.4801 Solution for issue 2: Too complex or long list of email addresses in notification objects Make a search for all email address objects searching for "EmailAddress" - You can import this search object to do it. Copy all rows to this Excel sheet Check the "Count" column - it counts the characters in the "Property value" column. There's no exact max character count as it also depends on complexity of the addresses, but a good indicator is if the count is over 270. In SmartStruxure, delete the content of the objects having more than 270 characters. Carry out the upgrade (if the upgrade fails, go back to step 3 and delete the content of all objects where the count is 260) After upgrading copy the property content from the Excel sheet back to SmartStruxure

Using an STR-350/351 in SmartStruxure: Function Block Macro

Issue When using the STR-350/351 in SmartStruxure Function Block Editor some programming consideration must be made to keep the occupancy and setpoint in sync between the stat and the program. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Function Block Editor Workstation STR350 STR351 Cause The STR-350 does not have a configurable Bypass time setting so this must be done using Function Block programming. STR-350 also takes roughly 30 seconds to recover from a power failure. By storing the last known setpoint in a DELR block with the "backup" option set, the setpoint will be restored. Resolution Click the pictures of the Function Block macro below to download the source file. Unoccupied Bypass In order to allow for local override commands from the stat, the occupancy must be read in from the STR-350. By allowing the programmable controller to control both the schedule and the override, the stat stays in sync with the program. The Bypass button of the STR-350 will only toggle the output of the nvoOccManCmd if the input nviEffectOccup matches the current button value. Setpoint The setpoint requires a little bit of extra programming to account for a power failure. The stat will report invalid setpoints for the first 30 seconds, which will cause it to come back in an undesired state. By letting the Function Block program hold onto the last known setpoint, and write it back to the stat on power up, there is no change in the setpoint after a power loss. Looping the setpoint in/out from the stat keeps everything in sync with the program, including stat adjustments. Note: If these macros are going to be used with a STR-350/351 set in degrees Celsius; make sure to change all initial values within the setpoint range. If the initial values are outside of the setpoint range, then the setpoint will always default back to the last known value.

Automation Server Trend log does not record at time interval when stopped by power cycle

Issue Automation Server -Trend does not record at time interval when it is stopped and restarted by AS power cycle or reboot. Trend log cycle is thrown off when the trend is stopped and started again due to an AS power cycle or reboot. For example, an Interval Trend Log set up to log ever 15 minutes with an activation time right on the hour (1:00, 1:15, 1:30 etc.) that lost power for a while would start logging as soon as the power was restored (this might be 2:07, 2:22, 2:37 etc. for example). UPDATE: This issue has been corrected in SBO version 1.5, any SBO version 1.5 or grater will synchronize the interval log to the clock. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Automation Server Struxureware Workstation Cause This is how Interval Trends behave. For interval trending based on the time a different approach must be taken. UPDATE: This issue has been corrected in SBO version 1.5, any SBO version 1.5 or grater will synchronize the interval log to the clock. Resolution Rather than using Interval Trend Logs use Variable Triggered Trend Logs and trigger them using the following method: Create a new binary value and a new function block program. The value will serve to trigger the Variable Triggered Trend Logs. The program will set the trigger variable based on a certain time interval (for example on the hour, 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 45 minutes). Edit the program and configure it as seen in the image below. This include an integer input, an expression that will evaluate the minutes attribute of the AS and a binary output. You can also download an export of the program and value here. Bind the input of the program to the minutes attribute of the Automation Server and the output to the trigger value that you created. Note that you should also bind the Task to Task 1 (100 ms) for best performance. Create your Variable Triggered Trend Logs on the points that you want to trend. Do this by right-clicking the point to trend and selecting New > Trend and then in the dialog select Variable Triggered Trend Log. Click Next and then set the Trigger Variable to the value that you created. Make sure Trigger when is set to Change to true. Note that this example will create a log at 0, 15, 30 and 45 minutes past the hour. You can modify the program to trigger only every hour, every half hour or however you want.

StruxureWare Building Operation uses the old PI-Modbus-300 protocol

Issue StruxureWare Building Operation uses the old PI-Modbus-300 protocol Environment StruxureWare Building Operation using Modbus protocol Cause Does StruxureWare Building Operation use the MODICON protocol with the reference PI-MBus-300? Resolution Modicon was purchased by Groupe Schneider (which eventually became Schneider Electric) in 1996, way before Schneider Electric bought TAC. The PI that referred to is just a prefix of the technical document describing the Modbus communication protocol. The 300 is the version of the protocol. StruxureWare Building Operation supports a subset of the Modbus protocol. StruxureWare Building Operation does not support all Functions defined by the document specified. Modicon is still the only one that does.
