Sigma ICs – Can a Sigma IC-Unifact IC Be Converted to an IC-SNP?

Issue A customer has purchased an incorrect type of Interface Controller (IC) — specifically, a Sigma IC-Unifact — and is seeking to convert it to an IC-SNP. Product Line Satchwell BAS & Sigma Environment Sigma IC / IC3 Cause The request arises due to a mismatch between the purchased IC type and the required application. The customer intended to use an IC-SNP but mistakenly acquired an IC-Unifact. Resolution Unfortunately, conversion between IC types is not possible. Each IC or IC3 has a unique personality embedded in its hardware, which is tightly coupled with its firmware. Even if the firmware is changed, the underlying hardware personality remains unchanged. This mismatch prevents the IC from functioning correctly in a different role. Therefore, to ensure proper operation, the correct IC type must be procured from the outset.

SevenReports Error: "Error in command line parameters" when attempting to open report directly from Windows Explorer or Graphics link

Issue SevenReports Error when attempting to open report directly from Windows Explorer or Graphics link Error received: Error in command line parameters: Report Type: 255 Duration: 255 Error Text: C:\INETSevenData\Reports\xxxxxxxx.rpt   The Icon for SevenReports is incorrect: Environment SevenReports Windows7 Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Cause File association has some how become corrupt or it has been associated with the SevenReport.exe file after installing the SetupCrystalReportsXI.exe. Resolution In most cases the file association will occur automatically and there is no need to manually do this.  Best practice is to restart the computer after installation, this should stop this error from occurring. Should this error still occur then this will require manually repairing the .rpt file association within the registry. Edit the following Registry keys so they appear as shown below: 1. HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.rpt If there is an additional sub-key (folder) under the .rpt entry called UserChoice; then delete this key. 2. HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.rpt\OpenWithList If there are any other entries here they should be removed and this entry must match exactly as shown in this screen. 3. HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.rpt\OpenWith\Progids 4. Close the registry editor and Windows Explorer (if opened) 5. Re-open Windows Explorer, browse to the INET Seven Reports folder (default "C:\INET Seven Data\Reports") and see that the ICON has changed back to the correct type and that double clicking on any of the reports now opens correctly.  If not please contact Product Support.

Is it possible to see a list of all the signals in the vista system that are overridden manually?

Issue Is it possible to see a list of all the signals in the vista system that are overridden manually? Environment Vista 5.1.X Cause It is important for the customer to know which signals are manually overridden to be able to make appropriate decisions about a plants' status. Resolution There are 2 main options available: 1. Use Vista's search tool -the screen shot below shows which criteria to use. You can of course include other points in the filter. 2. Create a report and link to the signal's 'manual control' property. This option would have the advantage of being able to trigger the report via a button in TGML and that the layout can be configured according to the customer's specifications. However, it will take a bit longer to configure the report initially. -Open the report and via the Vista reports addin configure a vista link to a value as shown below.

What database format does I/NET use?

Issue What is the name of the database format I/NET uses within its environment? Environment I/NET database Cause Building specifications may require the database format for design or as-built documents. Resolution The I/NET database format is proprietary and does not have a name. It is a "Closed system." As a matter of baseline security, it would be unwise to share ANY such information outside of the company. The distribution of such sensitive information increases risk to all of our customers, not just the requesting customer. As a provider of security/access control products, our priority is to protect all of our customers; one way we do that is by protecting engineering details.

Issue How to delete all or specific parts of the E: Segment in an UltiVist/DMS database. Product Line TAC IA Series Environment UltiVist/DMS Cause The E: Segment database needs to be removed or cleaned up due to outdated or incorrect configuration data. Resolution Use the KILBRNCH tool to delete the required segment. Backup the database before proceeding. Open an OS/2 window and navigate to the FI directory. Is it needed to connect DC voltage to trigger the DI of a Xenta controller or a Xenta IO module

Issue Is it needed to connect DC voltage to trigger the DI of the 301 and 421A What is the max current/voltage that a DI point can handle. Environment Xenta 301, Xenta 302, Xenta 4xx Cause The inputs on the Xenta 300 and 4xx are active inputs from the terminals X1, U1 etc. Meaning the terminal is at high voltage when open.  For a UI (act as a DI) channel, the voltage across open contact is approximately 20 V DC, and for a XI channel,  the voltage across open contact is approximately 33 V DC. To activate the digital input, engineer needs to connect the signal to M ( = 0 volt) terminal, so current flows FROM the X1 to M. So basically we expect a switch that connects M and X1 (U1). Resolution No you only need a switch that connects M0 to X1 or U1 (or other digital, universal input). Note: It is recommended to have a non-voltage dry point relay switch to protect the digital input on the controller and IO module.

Sigma Server crashes and the hard drive has filled with archived Alarm Logs.

Issue Sigma Server crashes, and the hard drive becomes full due to an accumulation of archived Alarm Logs, all timestamped around the same time. Alarm Fail Safe window displays:   "Logging Database is 100% full" "Unable to archive"   Product Line Satchwell BAS & Sigma Environment Satchwell Sigma Cause The Sigma Server crashes because the Logging Database is full. Normally, this database is automatically archived. However, if the folder C:\Sigma\Data\ArchivedLogs is missing, the archiving process fails repeatedly. Each failed attempt generates a System Message, which further fills the Alarm Log Database, triggering another archiving attempt—creating a loop that eventually crashes the server. Resolution Step 1: Recreate Missing Folders Ensure the following folders exist under C:\Sigma\Data . If not, manually recreate them: ArchivedAlarms ArchivedLogs ArchivedTransactions Step 2: Test Archiving Functionality Create an Action and Schedule to archive the logs. Allow the schedule to run. Verify that a file named Sigma0nnnn.dbs appears in the ArchivedLogs folder. ✅ If successful, you may either remove the daily schedule or leave it in place for ongoing archiving.

How long will it take for a MNB controller to drop to 'Read-Only' mode when the AC power supply voltage drops below 20.4 Vac?

Issue How long will it take for a MNB controller to drop to 'Read-Only' mode when the AC power supply voltage drops below 20.4 Vac? Environment MNB controllers Cause Site installation using one AC transformer for multiple controllers.  Site is also suffering brownout conditions. Resolution Factory testing confirms that it takes only one AC cycle of power (i.e. one complete sine wave) of voltage below 20.4 Vac for the controller to drop into 'Read-Only' mode. It is difficult to view with a standard digital multimeter.  A scope may be required to capture the voltage dip.
