File Equalization, what passes between the Filemaster and Equalized Client

Issue File Equalization, what passes between the Filemaster and Equalized Client Environment I/NET with Filemaster and Equalized Client snapshot, equalize, tables Cause What transpires between the Filemaster and Equalized Client Resolution File equalization is essential in TAC I/NET Seven systems where multiple host workstations will be used to manage access control or TAC I/NET Seven’s network configuration. It allows host workstations connected to an Ethernet LAN to share certain database information while still maintaining their own TAC I/NET Seven database. File equalization is a function of the SQL server that is installed on TAC I/NET Seven workstations. The SQL server ensures that each individual workstation has up-to-date copies of equalized information. The equalized information includes: Network configuration (links, sites, stations, etc.) Host passwords Controller passwords Tenant data User-defined tenant field labels Individual records Group door assignments Elevator floor assignments Trend plot data The following tables are equalized: Tenants Individuals IndivCustomData IndivImages IamUser DoorsGroups Groups SecondaryGroups XRefTenantDoor XRefGroupDoor XRefIndivGroupDoor Cards CardTrans Floors FloorPoints Visitors Operators OpWindowPosition XRefOperatorDoor PwdHistory AmtFilters MultiPlot MultiPlotPnt PwDCU DpuRestore DoorScheduleTypes DoorSchedules PerSchedNames PerScheds GlobalOptions DispatchStrings Tools UserButtons NetConLink NetConSite NetConDCU NetConMCU NetConDoor

Can the AS be positioned in the middle of the mstp bus?

Issue Typically the master controller is at the end of the bus, but is it possible to place it in the middle? Environment AS b3 Cause Depending on the buildings wiring there could be a need to place the AS in the middle of the bus. Resolution The AS can be placed in the middle of the bus, but the terminating resistors must then be placed at both ends of the bus. This method wasn't officially tested in this manner by SQA, but it works similar to how a BCX 4040 does which can be placed in the middle of the bus in this fashion.

Wake-Up Interval and Redundant Transmission settings on the SED-THSU5045 thermostat.

Issue How do the Wake Up Time and Redundant Transmission settings affect the operation of the SED-THSU5045 thermostat? Environment SED-THSU5045 Enocean Cause The function of the Wake-Up interval and the Redundant Transmission switches is not described in the documentation that comes with the sensor.   Resolution DIP Switch 1 and 2 control the Wake-up Interval (in seconds) OFF OFF No cycling wake up ON OFF 1 OFF ON 10 ON ON 100 DIP Switch 2 and 3 control the Redundant Transmissions (in frequency of tx) OFF OFF Every wake up ON OFF 7 to 14 wake ups OFF ON 70 to 140 wake ups ON ON Never   The idea is that the stat will wake up when the wake-up interval is elapsed and verify if the temperature has changed by more than approximately 1°F. If it did, it will send a transmission, if not it will go back to sleep until the next interval. The second setting (redundant transmission) will govern how often the stat will send a value, even if the temperature has not changed (as some kind of ping or keepalive).

Unable to save Doors in Network Configuration

Issue Building a database to take to a site and the doors do not show up in Netcon, though they can be controlled. Environment I/NET versions 2.10 and up using SCU 1284s. Cause The controller has not recognized the doors in the SCU and has to be readded in Netcon to be saved again. Resolution To resolve this there are a few simple steps that needs to be followed to get this to work again. Connect to the controller and then go to Edit/Host Computer/Network Configuration. Penetrate the Link Summary, Controller and then SCU. In the cnf column there should be a -- sign indicating that there is no communication to the device. Click on the delete button to remove it from the SCU. Close all the Editors and then go back to the controller. Go to Resident I/O Points, if the door point exists, delete it and close out of the editor. Open up the Resident I/O Points and re-add the point again and repeat Step 2. Save the doors now as Step would have a + sign indicating that there is communication to the device.

SQL account used by I/NET Seven

Issue Equalization Failure.  Unable to promote remote or equalized client Environment I/NET Seven Cause I/NET Seven creates and used the user account INETSEVEN within SQL. This account is given full admin rights during installation and any change in these rights will prevent I/NET from correctly using SQL.  The password for this account is encrypted and is specific to each I/NET installation so this password cannot be provided. Resolution Do not change settings on this account.  If modifications are made you will need to uninstall and re-install I/NET Seven.

Wrong XIF is used for device when updating from system plug-in

Issue Wrong XIF is used for device when updating from system plug-in. SNVTs are there but not the SCPS XIF has a name like TACCab6.xif instead of the real name if you look in the XIF tab in the device properties Environment TAC Vista System plug-in Cause This happens when the system plug-in can't find the XIF file in the directory it was when the device was created. Then the system plug in creates a XIF from the information it can get from LNS. If the device was created using a template then the path is C:\lonworks\import, you can see the path by clicking on the device in the LNS network pane in the system plug-in This is typical if you have moved the LonMaker database to a different PC that does not have  plug ins installed. Resolution There are two different steps you can take to try to correct this issue. Delete the device in TAC Vista, install the plug in (or copy the XIF to the correct location) and update from the system plug-in again. Manually browse in the correct XIF file into TAC Vista workstation under the XIF tab in properties of the controller. Sometimes this must be done twice in order to bring in all configuration points and SNVTs. Once the XIF is in the right place any new device added will get the right XIF

UltiVist does not execute on a server even though all the background programs and the actual executable file run with no errors.

Issue The hard drive was replaced and reloaded with OS/2.  UltiVist was re-installed on 😧 partition.  The UltiVist shortcut appears on the OS/2 desktop.  When it is executed, the background programs initiate as they should with no errors reported.  The primary UltiVist executable also starts but no operator views appear and the familiar "low beep-high beep" audio signal of a successful start to the program does not occur.  Again, no errors are reported. The UltiVist was re-installed over-top the existing installation with no change or improvement. Environment UltiVist version 1.22 and newer OS/2 all versions Cause The original hard drive failed and was replaced with a new one. Resolution At an OS/2 command prompt, type 'd:' then enter.  Type 'cd fi' then enter. In the d:\fi directory, find the ultivist.cmd file and look at its contents by typing "view ultivist.cmd".  The last two lines should read: STARTER.EXE FI.CFG START /PM UVUI.EXE %1 %2 Try typing each line at the command prompt a few seconds apart.  The first line starts all the background/support programs.  The second starts the actual interface program. If either line fails to properly execute, cut or rename the entire fi folder and re-install UltiVist from floppy disk (or CD). Do not install over-top the existing installation.

Using TOAD with Vista 4.3

Issue Using TOAD with Vista 4.3 Environment Vista 4.3 TOAD Cause The release notice for Vista 4.3 recommended the use of TOAD which is a free program that allows users to view and query SQL databases. This can be a very powerful tool to assist in database verification, exploration of the database for creating Crystal Reports, and running scripts. Resolution Warning: Care should be taken before making any changes to the SQL database since damage could break Vista To setup TOAD to work with the Vista database: Run Vista Server Setup and check the "SQL Server" tab and write down what is filled into the Instance and Database fields. Run TOAD_SS.exe. At the Server Login screen select "Add". Give your connection a name. Select "Use Connection String" and click "Build". Select "Microsoft OLE DB for SQL Server". Click "Next". In section "1" use the dropdown menu to select the Instance name found in Vista Server Setup. Typically the PC name or PC Name\TACVISTA. Select "Use Windows NT Integrated Security". In section "3" verify that "Select the database on the server" is selected and with the drop down menu choose the database name found in Vista Server Setup. Typically "taclogdata". Click "Test Connection" to verify it is working and click "Ok". Click "Ok" in the Data Link Properties window. Click "Ok" in the Add Registration window. Select the line your server was added to and click "Connect". You should now be connected to the server and you can use the Data Browser window to view the tables, views, procedures, and users of the database among other things. The SQL Editor window will allow you to run queries as well as other administrative tasks. Remember that all changes should be carefully considered before made to avoid breaking the database.

Communication issues with the UNC when ASD devices in the station are not physically connected to the ASD bus.

Issue Communication issues with the UNC when ASD devices in the station are not physically connected to the ASD bus. Environment UNC and ASD controllers Cause Avoid a known cause of communications problems between a UNC and the ASD controllers by disabling polled controllers that are not physically connected to the ASD bus. Resolution The polling is enabled / disabled by a check box on the Config tab of the ASD controller. With polling disabled, the poll scheduler will skip that device, resulting in more efficient communications with controllers that are actually online. This issue has been seen on jobs where the ASD network has been engineered offline, with a large number of controllers with polling enabled, but the actual device not yet physically connected to the ASD bus.
