A customer has purchased an incorrect type of Interface Controller (IC) — specifically, a Sigma IC-Unifact — and is seeking to convert it to an IC-SNP.

Cause
The request arises due to a mismatch between the purchased IC type and the required application. The customer intended to use an IC-SNP but mistakenly acquired an IC-Unifact.
Resolution
Unfortunately, conversion between IC types is not possible.
Each IC or IC3 has a unique personality embedded in its hardware, which is tightly coupled with its firmware. Even if the firmware is changed, the underlying hardware personality remains unchanged. This mismatch prevents the IC from functioning correctly in a different role.
Therefore, to ensure proper operation, the correct IC type must be procured from the outset.
