Why is the i2/ b3887 RAM memory not saved on power failure?

Issue i2887/ b3887 Cool starts on Power failure Environment i2887, b3887 i2887-L-230, b3887-L-230 i2887-L-115, b3887-L-115 Cause The i2887 and b3887 do not have a RAM battery backup. Resolution The i2/b3887 is one of the range of low cost i2/b3 controllers that does not have a RAM backup battery. It has no concept of a Warm start that would save working values in the RAM. It does however have Flash Memory that allows the controller to save all of its points and programs. After a power outage these points / programs will be copied into RAM and start running from their first line (if they are Autostart) in what is called a Cool Start. Its ACCRestartMode mode will be ACCCoolStartOnly.   Other i2/b3 controllers that do have a RAM backup battery will allow the ACCRestartMode to be changed as required.

How can an AI object be scaled to display to 4 decimal places in Workplace Tech?

Issue How can an AI object be scaled to display to 4 decimal places in Workplace Tech? Environment MNL controller MNB controller Workplace Tech Cause The AI object in a MNL or MNB controller can only display to 2 decimal places and this cannot be increased. Resolution Change the "scaled high value" and "scaled low value" represented by the input signal. For example: Given a transmitter that provides 0 to 5 VDC representing 0.0 to 0.1 inches of water column. Rather than putting in a "scaled low value" of 0.0 and a "scaled high value" of 0.1 make the "scaled high value" 100. Then take that value up to a Niagara station and divide it by 1000 to convert it back to inches of water column.  This will display it to 4 decimal places.

Issue Templates cannot be changed for personnel because the option is grayed out in the Personnel Manager Environment Personnel Manager Cause This is an issue that was fixed in 1.82 and above. Resolution There are a couple of work arounds for this issue: Go into each template and select the Attribute data source tab Go to RefTemplate and change it from InheritFromTemplate to CopyFromTemplate Go back to the personnel and the ability to switch to other templates works The other option is to switch the Personnel Manager to False in the Cyberstation preferences to use the Personnel Editor. Why are only three tabs viewable when the Properties page of a MNB controller is opened using version 5.7.1 (and newer) of the WorkPlace Commissioning Tool?

Issue Why are only three tabs viewable when the Properties page of a MNB controller is opened using version 5.7.1 (and newer) of the WorkPlace Commissioning Tool? Environment MNB controller WorkPlace Commissioning Tool Cause Beginning with version 5.7.1 of the WorkPlace Commissioning tool, only a subset of the controller configuration data is requested when initially browsing for BACnet devices using the selected communications protocol. Without additional information, the "Device Properties" program module does not know what kind of device (controller model) is being accessed. Without the model information, only the generic "General", "BBMD" and "Advanced" device information tabs are displayed. This is the same information displayed when third-party BACnet controllers are accessed. Resolution There are two options for acquiring the additional "Extended Device Data". Turn on the "Auto Acquire Extended Data" option.  WorkPlace Commissioning Tool will automatically request the extended data for those devices shown in the device list. Right-click the specific device entry in the list and select "Refresh" from the displayed menu.   Once the extended data has been retrieved from a BACnet device, the Properties window for that device will display with all the appropriate property tabs shown.

Lost Sync with System Clock – Resetting Control Engine in Niagara R2 Enterprise Server

Issue Enterprise Server displays repeated warning messages: Lost Sync with system clock - resetting control engine Product Line TAC IA Series Environment Niagara R2 Enterprise Server UNC-520, UNC-410 controllers Cause The warning occurs due to incorrect or inconsistent time synchronization settings between the Enterprise Server and UNCs. This can result from: Improper serverEnabled or clientEnabled configuration Missing or incomplete time protocol server entries Tight clientResetTolerance values Resolution Verify and adjust the following settings: Enterprise Server (ES): serverEnabled = true if syncing with UNC clientEnabled = true if ES gets time from an internet or site server; otherwise set to false clientResetTolerance : Default is 30 sec (too tight). Set to 60 sec or more (enter value in seconds) timeProtocolServer* : If clientEnabled = true , all three slots must contain a time server address. If only one server is used, repeat the same address in all slots. No blank slots allowed UNCs (TimeSyncService): serverEnabled = false clientEnabled = true clientResetTolerance : Same as ES (≥60 sec) timeProtocolServer* : Same rule as ES Reboot the UNC after making changes

When starting I/NET the previously logged in user is automatically signed on.

Issue If user exits I/NET (Using System > Exit) and then re-starts I/NET again with logging off, the previously logged on user is automatically logged back in. When starting I/NET, user is not required to enter a password.   Environment I/NET Seven Cause The I/O Server with no clients has three settings which can be configured for its active profile as defined below: Maintain – Enable this option to allow the I/NET I/O Server to continue running in the background, even when no I/NET client is currently active. In this case, you will remain logged into the I/NET system. Logoff – Enable this option to be automatically logged off of I/NET when you shutdown the host software application. The I/NET I/O Server will continue running in the background, even when no I/NET client is currently active. Shutdown – Enable this option to shutdown the I/O Server after all I/NET clients have been shutdown. Resolution Change the active profile I/O Server setting to either logoff or shutdown.  Both Logoff and Shutdown will deactivate the last user logged into I/NET so if this is the functionality required, then either of these two settings should be used.

Can web browser access be disabled in a UNC station?

Issue Customer site security requirements do not permit web browser access via the http protocol to any device on their Ethernet network so they need to be able to disable it. Environment UNC-410 or UNC-520 Cause Government / corporate IT security regulations do not permit web browser access via the http protocol to any device on the Ethernet network. Resolution If creating a new station, do not select the "Web User Interface Service" in the Add Services dialog. If the station has already been created and is running, open the station in WorkPlace Pro and cut the "WebUiService" out of the Services container.  After cutting out the service, you need to restart the UNC.  If the WebUiService does not exist in the station, an http 400 error, "No Browser Support" error will be returned when an attempt is made to access the UNC station graphics via the browser.

Not recommended to use XBuilder time schedules to control I/NET controllers

Issue Using Time Schedules in the Xenta 527 Environment Xenta 527 I/NET system I2V integration Cause Users should exercise caution when creating time schedule objects and pages in the Xenta 527. If a time schedule is created and directed at an I/NET point that already has a time schedule on the controller, the point value will be incorrect until the schedules synchronize. Due to the risk of improper results, possible harm to equipment in an HVAC environment, possible security breaches in a security environment, and the risk that if Ethernet communications fail the point will not operate according to the schedule it is recommended that time schedules in the 527 not be used with I/NET points. Resolution The I/NET time schedule object, which is created during the save file conversion in XBuilder, should be used . This object will direct you to a page that modifies the I/NET time schedule on the controller.
