Cannot select member STATE for SNVT_Switch in TAC Menta input/output block

Issue In an old TAC Menta file, STATE members of SNVT_Switch inputs and outputs are assigned to DI/DO blocks. When editing existing SNVT_Switch I/O blocks, or adding a new one, it is not possible to select the STATE member from the drop-down list because the list is empty. Environment TAC Menta version 4.20 or higher Cause An application made in a version of Menta earlier than 4.20 would have had the STATE member of a SNVT-Switch declared as a digital input/output. From TAC Menta version 4.20, both the STATE and VALUE members of the SNVT_Switch are declared as analog input/output. Resolution Applications made with earlier versions of TAC Menta can still be downloaded with the latest TAC Menta version and will work correctly, provided you do not open the DI/DO block containing the SNVT_Switch member STATE and then exit the block dialog with the OK button. If this occurs: Delete this DI/DO block Recreate the SNVT_Switch STATE using a AI/AO block instead See TPI C-89-1-F5 for full details of this issue

Cannot see NPR across a wide area network

Issue Cannot see an NPR across a wide area network (WAN) Product Line TAC INET Environment NetPlus Router (NPR) Wide Area Network (WAN) Cause There are several reasons why this may occur: The Cisco/3Com/etc. routers are doing network address translation (NAT) The network uses Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM) and the routers use Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR). See the other FAQ on this.  The correct reference host is not specified in the configuration profile. The correct reference host is specified, but that profile was not set to active. The wrong subnet mask was used. Resolution For issues with VLSM and CIDR (Cause 2 above), see Can NPR 2000s be installed on a network that implements VLSM and CIDR. In any other case, see Customer Advisory 2003.

Cannot attach the Network interface to Lonmaker when Tacos is started as a service

Issue Cannot attach the Network interface to Lonmaker database when the Vista Server (Tacos) is started as a service. The error message is that the 'NIC interface is not connected'. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Echelon Lonmaker 3.1 Echelon Lonmaker 3.2 TAC Vista (all versions) Cause When updating Lonmaker and Vista databases as applications, it is important that Lonmaker be started first. Failure to do so can result in issues like this when Vista is reconfigured to start as a service. Resolution To get Vista and Lonmaker running together: Stop the Vista service and unregister it. If using a Loytec interface, set the Loytec Legacy Driver to run as a service (click the Advanced tab in LConfig). Start Lonmaker and attach the correct network interface. Ensure that Lonmaker is online. Start Vista Server as an application. From Lonmaker open the System Plugin. In the TAC Network properties, check that the correct network interface is selected. Update the Vista database. Start Vista Workstation and check that everything is online. Stop Vista and Lonmaker. Reregister Vista as a service. For details of these operations see Registering/Unregistering TAC Vista Server as a Windows service. Also see section 16.3 of the TAC Vista Technical Manual.

Can you have two multiplexed Wiegand readers and two multiplexed RS-485 readers on the same Controller or Reader Module?

Issue Can you have two multiplexed Wiegand readers and two multiplexed RS-485 readers on the same Controller or Reader Module? Product Line Security Expert Environment Security Expert SP-C SP-RDM2 Cause Unsure if two reader protocols could be used on the same reader module. Resolution For this you will need to use another reader module. One module (this could be the SP-C) for multiplexed Wiegand readers, and another for multiplexed RS-485 readers. When using multiplexed Wiegand readers you will need to connect the D1 cable from the exit reader to the opposite reader port. So in multiplex reader mode you can have 4 Wiegand readers, or 4 RS-485, but not two of each. If Wiegand is being used both reader ports are setup as Wiegand. See details on this in the SP-C System Controller Installation Manual starting on page 28. The wiring for multiplexed RS-485 readers doesn't require any connections to the opposite reader port.

Can the xPBA4 module support a 4-20 mA output with the addition of a resistor circuit?

Issue Have a device that requires a 4-20 mA current signal to drive it but only have a 0-10Vdc output available. Can this be accomplished with a resistor bridge on the 0-10Vdc output?  Environment xpBA4 Cause The xPBA4 does not support driving a current output by default. Resolution It does not look like those outputs will be able to support a 20mA signal. The datasheet does not specify this but looking at another controller with a similar output, the i2867, we can see that the output rating for the 0-10Vdc output is 5mA maximum, 2Kohm minimum impedance. This would not be enough to drive a 4-20mA device. It may be possible to get a third party voltage to current convertor but then again it may just be easier to use one of the xPAO4's that already supports a 4-20mA output. I suggest using an xPAO4. The xPAO4 module can output current as well as voltage. The module has three pins on each output terminal; current (I), voltage (V), and ground (GND). It can output both 0-10VDC as well as 4-20mA. Connect your device that needs 4-20mA to the I and GND terminal and create your output with an ElecType set to Current. See datasheet Andover Continuum xP Expansion I/O Family for details on each available module.

Can a schedule in a bCX1-CR be changed by another BACnet/IP Workstation such as Citec SCADA?

Issue Need to be able to change any schedule inside a bCX1-CR from another BacNet/IP workstation like Citec SCADA. Environment BACnet bCX1-CR Citec SCADA Cause It is a project requirement to change schedules in a bCX-CR1 from a third party BACnet workstation. Is this possible? Resolution The answer to your question is not a simple yes/no. Please see page 8 of Product Implementation Conformance Statement bCX1-CR It describes the "writable" properties of the schedule objects in the bCX1-CR v4.5. Make sure that the BACnet workstation (B-OWS) that you wish to use to edit schedules in the bCX1-CR v4.5 supports (in its PICS) the properties that your customer needs to be able to edit. For example, from the linked PICS, it appears the Next_Transition_Time is not writable in the bCX1-CR v4.5. If this is a property that your customer requires the Citec SCADA to edit in the bCX1-CR v4.5 then there may be a problem. Since we do not provide support for Citec SCADA we cannot say whether or not it will work. You will need to talk to Citec or make a judgment based on their PICS.

Can a new Xenta Server with hardware version 3 be downgraded to a firmware of lower version?

Issue Now the newest firmware version of Xenta server is 5.1.8, and the hardware version is 3. If a new Xenta server in an old project is needed to replace an old Xenta server with old version, it is not compatible with the old TAC Vista or I/NET software version of the project. So downgrade of the firmware is needed. Environment TAC Xenta 500/700/900 TAC Vista Cause Controller with new firmware is not compatible with the old TAC Vista or I/NET software. Resolution The controller with hardware 3 can be downgraded, but with only three versions: 5.1.6 SP1, 5.1.7 SP2 (or SP3 for X700) and 5.1.8 SP1. If any firmware other than these three versions is downloaded to the Xenta server, there will be no warning and it will be "bricked". Refer to TPA-VSTA-12-0029.00.

Can LONMark Devices be used with Continuum?

Issue If it is possible, what is the best way to integrate LONMark devices to Continuum? Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Netcontroller CX9900, CX9940, Netcontroller II CX9680 Echelon LON X Driver, XDriver, X-Driver LONMark, SNVTs, Bridge, Gateway Cause Clarification required on LON compatibility. Resolution FTT Versions of both the Netcontroller and Netcontroller II can be configured to communicate with 3rd party LONMark devices. You need to use the 1 st generation or 2 nd generation X Driver file respectively for these controllers. The FTT-10 port Comm16 has to be selected to be in LONMark X Driver mode, this is done in the Web page or the HyperTerminal Window connection. Once in LONMark mode you can not connect any IO Modules to the controller. The LONMark X Driver allows data to be mapped between the Continuum system and a LONMark Network. You create X Driver points in the Netcontroller II defining the SNVTs they will be seen as in the LON system. You then will need to design a LON Network that will consist of the NCII LON port (Comm16) and the other LON Devices to be connected. This network will need to be designed using the correct LON cabling and terminations. You will need a PC with appropriate NIC card to run the Lonmaker 3.2 software or the NL220 software to design your LON network and create all of the bindings between the different devices. The LON X Driver will act as a bridge between the LON and the Continuum networks. Both Lonmaker 3.2 and NL220 can be ordered through Schneider Electric along with any LON routing devices that may be required in the LON network design, these parts will be in the Vista product catalogues and price lists. Details of the configuration of the X Driver points are detailed in the LONMark X Driver User Guide. The Latest Echelon LonMark X Driver software for the FTT Netcontrollers can be downloaded from The Exchange Download Center. Note: Unlike other X Drivers, the LONMark driver does not require a port to be X Driver enabled to operate.
