Issue

Cannot see an NPR across a wide area network (WAN)

Environment

• NetPlus Router (NPR)
• Wide Area Network (WAN)

Cause

There are several reasons why this may occur:

1. The Cisco/3Com/etc. routers are doing network address translation (NAT)
2. The network uses Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM) and the routers use Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR). See the other FAQ on this. 
3. The correct reference host is not specified in the configuration profile.
4. The correct reference host is specified, but that profile was not set to active.
5. The wrong subnet mask was used.
