Setting the Infinet ID of an Infinet device to zero using RoamIO

Issue How to use RoamIO to set the Infinet ID of Infinet device to zero before re-deploying the device. Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Continuum Service Tool Cause Need a way to set the Infinet ID of Infinet device to zero before re-deploying the device. SSL Self-signed Certificates - Security Certificate Risk warning logging in WebStation using HTTPS

Issue After installing a self-signed certificate via Internet explorer as detail in article  SSL Certificates - Security Certificate Risk warning logging in to WorkStation or WebStation using HTTPS  There is still a warning in Chrome and Firefox that the site is "Not secure" This warning is not seen in the earlier versions of Internet Explorer but from version 11 it is also seen in Internet Explorer. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment WebStation Cause Different browsers have different policies to Self-signed Certificates and display a different warning, but still use HTTPS. These policies may change over time, but it is not something that can be controlled Without a neutral and recognized third party—such as a certificate authority—verifying certificate ownership, a certificate is meaningless. To better understand, when doing something like creating an HTTPS connection you have the following chain: A client web browser making the request to the server. The remote web server sending data back to the client. And an HTTPS certificate authorized by a neutral 3rd party that vouches that the server is who it is and the encryption is valid because of that. A self-signed certificate is inherently untrusted because anyone can generate a self-signed certificate. Anyone including an entity that deliberately pretends to be something/someone they aren’t. With a self-signed certificate there is simply no trusted third party that has the basic human procedures set to simply state, “Okay, this domain has a certificate we issued them and thus you can trust them. We say they are in fact the domain the claim to be and not an imposter.” And since anyone in the world can create a self-signed certificate on their own, it’s usage has inherent trust issues. What makes a certificate valid has very little to do with deep technology or encryption techniques but what makes it valid is a process centered around a neutral—and recognized—third party validating a usage procedure and browser makers adhering to respect of those procedures. At the end of the day, an encryption key pair is an utterly meaningless pile of bits and bytes without the enforcement of the processes and procedures that surround them. Resolution Internet Explorer - No warning Chrome - "Not Secure" shown Firefox - Initially a "Your connection is not secure" warning is seen "10.158.7xx.xxx:xxx uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed. Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT" Add Exception, allows access as below   The best way to permanently remove the warning is to pay for a certificate from a certificate authority. See this forum post on how to get generate and add a certificate from a certificate authority

Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Issue PCT does not run properly following installation. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Project Configuration Tool (PCT) Cause Certain environmental settings may need to be adjusted in order to successfully install PCT. These settings are not described in the Project Configuration Reference Guide. Resolution If you have issues successfully running PCT after installation, check the following items: Enable Virtual Hardware Acceleration in BIOS Use this tool to check if virtual hardware acceleration is already enabled on your PC: Intel: https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/processor-utilities-and-programs/intel-processor-identification-utility.html AMD: https://support.amd.com/en-us/search/utilities?k=virtualization Disable all Ethernet Adapters except the one in use (Only applies to Server Mode): It may be necessary to check Windows Device Manager for hidden network adapters Disable the Windows firewall Disable Anti-Virus Software A true local account may be needed to install and/or run PCT due to Group Policy or other factors. Use Run as Administrator for both installing and running PCT Note: You can right-click the PCT icon, open properties, select the “Compatibility” tab, and check the box “Run this program as an administrator” Test PCT by opening up the software application, creating a project, creating a server, and opening it up in WorkStation If PCT opens and works then enable Windows firewall and Anti-Virus program. - User may need to allow PCT in Windows firewall and PCT utilize port 9091 as default. - User may need to add exceptions within Anti-Virus software settings. We recommend installing Microsoft Fix 50410 to prefer IPv4 over IPv6. This software can be found here: - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929852 - Choose the following download: Prefer IPv4 over IPv6 in prefix policies.

Recommendation for cores and memory setup for PCT

Issue PCT core and memory setup documentation does not exist Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Project Configuration Tool (PCT) Cause It is unclear what PCT core and memory settings should be configured for different kind of projects.     Resolution For optimal use, the minimum recommendation “Cores” should be limited to four (4), and have two (2) GB of “Memory” allocated Should you notice your CPU usage increase past 75%, the number of Cores can be increased as needed to help stabilize the system and maintain efficiency. Additional memory can be allocated for larger projects with many AS’s or multiple users working on the project at the same time. The amount of memory will be limited by the available memory on the machine, and the memory allocated to all the projects that are running.

Advanced Display is not charging properly and eventually going flat

Issue Advanced Display V2 (Samsung T580s) are not charging properly and eventually running out of power Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Advanced Display Version 2.0 Cause If a single straight through USB cable is selected and connected to the USB port on the SmartX controller, it will supply both data and power to the AD V2. The SmartX controller does not have a high enough power rating to sufficiently charge the AD V2 correctly under all conditions and the battery charge level may dwindle and eventually go flat over time. (The AD V2 Tablet requires between 0.5A - 1.3A depending on its settings while an AS-P/AS-B USB port supplies a maximum of only 0.5A) Resolution There are 2 possible USB cables which can be ordered for use with an AD V2. The Y-shaped 'Y-Cable' and a Straight Through cable.  Both can be used, but with different configuration changes to the tablet settings as detailed below: Straight Through 3m USB cable (Data and Power): AD V2 is connected directly to SmartX USB port for Data SmartX USB also provides minimum 0.5A supply Tablet brightness must be set no higher than 50% Tablet display timeout must not be set to 'Always On' Y-shaped USB cable (1 x Data and 1 x Power) AD V2 is connected directly to SmartX USB port for Data Separate USB socket is required to ideally provide 1.3A supply Tablet brightness must be set no higher than 50% Tablet display timeout may be set to 'Always On''

Replacing Automation Server hardware

Issue What is the proper way to replace AS hardware for an existing node. Cannot get the AS to come online in the Enterprise Server after replacing the AS hardware for an existing node. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server Building Operation Automation Server - Classic (AS) Building Operation Automation Server - Premium (AS-P) Building Operation Automation Server - Bundled (AS-B) Cause To replace the AS hardware, a backup must have been made from the original AS while it was online.  Simply changing the controller name, IP information, and domain  information in the AS will not be sufficient for bringing the controller online in the ES. Before the new automation server can be brought online, the backup from the original controller must be restored to the new AS directly. Resolution This procedure assumes that a backup of the original AS is available. From Device Administrator and the USB interface, run the SetIP command to configure the following information in the new AS to match the original AS configuration. Note: You will have to use the version of Device Administrator that matches the replacement AS firmware. If necessary, use the appropriate version of Device Administrator to Upgrade or downgrade the firmware in the new AS so that it matches the Enterprise Server and/or the original AS hardware firmware. Install the AS then backplane. From StruxureWare workstation, log into the AS using the hardware's IP address for the Server field. Right click on the server name and select Restore. If the backup does not appear in the Available restore points window, click on Import Backup Set and browse to the backup file. Select Configuration only or All data in the window on the left. Select restore. Once the restore has completed the AS displays a solid green status light, log off the AS and log into the ES. The controller should now appear online in the ES.

Alarm State Sort Order in Webstation is not following the Sort Order in Workstation

Issue After an upgrade to EBO version 3 the  "Alarm State Sort Order" in EBO Webstation is not following the  "Alarm State Sort Order" set in Workstation for certain Alarm Views. Workstation:   Webstation: Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Webstation version 3.0 and later Cause This issue is only seen on Alarm views upgraded from a version earlier than 1.9 to EBO 3.0 or later The problem is that in EBO version 1.9 Webstation did not follow the sort order for Workstation, back then the sort order in the alarm view in Workstation and Webstation was separated. And the default sort order in Webstation was "Triggered time" when upgrading to version 3 the upgrade does not change the sort order for Webstation. So after the upgrade the sort order in the alarm view is "Triggered time" and it will not follow the sort order from Workstation.    Resolution In EBO Webstation version 3 click on the "Filter" button in the Alarm view. Click on "Sort" and remove "Triggered time", click OK In Workstation open the Alarm view and right-click, Open Alarm view settings and click on "Reset standard layout to standard default"

Relay output minimum or wetting currents

Issue There are no minimum current or wetting currents shown on the datasheets. Product Line EcoStruxure Buildings Operation Environment DO-FA-12 and DO-FA-12-H IP-IO Form A, B and C relay contacts Cause The relay outputs are not working since the minimum or wetting current was not maintained and the contacts of the relays have filmed up giving incorrect control. Resolution There are several relays used across this range of controllers and to ensure good low current operation, the minimum or wetting current should be 1milliamp at 5volts or greater. Wetting current is the minimum electric current needing to flow through a contact to break through the surface film resistance of a contact. It is typically far below the contact's nominal maximum current rating. It should also be noted that these controllers may be monitoring third party devices through their status or fault relays. An example of this would be an IP-IO monitoring a VFD for status. The IP-IO inputs will supply 3milliamp at 24volts. To ensure good lifetime operation of this output from the VFD, ensure this is within the VFDs range of minimum or wetting current.

Exposed properties are unresponsive in Webstation

Issue Updating an exposed property in Webstation doesn't change the exposed attribute. An example is an ellipse having the Fill color attribute exposed, but when updating the exposed property the ellipse does not change color. Right click the graphic in the tree view and choose Properties. Click the Exposed tab Update the property (1) and click OK (2) The fill color of the ellipse does not change This works fine in Workstation. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Webstation Cause The Expose object has a property called Public. This value should be True if the exposed property should be visible and editable from Webstation or Workstation. The cause of this problem is that the value is true instead of True. TGML is case sensitive. Workstation is more forgiving, so the color is updated when doing the same procedure in Workstation. Resolution Update the value of the Public property in the Expose object from true to True. If there are many objects to be checked, a search and replace can be undertaken in the Source view.

Error: Prohibit to retain both Value and priority properties at same time

Issue Attempting to set the Retain Level attribute of a Value object results in the following error: Saving Changes Invalid data 'Prohibit to retain both Value and priority properties at same time: (point name) Invalid data Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Building Operation 3.1 Cause Prior to EBO 3.1, it was possible to set retention levels on both the Value attribute and individual members of the Priority Stack. Starting with 3.1, that is not allowed and will give this error if you attempt to change the retain level setting of a Value that already has it set on a Priority, or vice versa. For systems configured in EBO 3.0 or prior that are upgraded to 3.1, the now invalid double-retention will be resolved automatically during the upgrade by retaining the Priority Stack retention level and setting the Value attribute Retain Level to No. Resolution Only set the retain level on one attribute of an object. The best attribute to retain is the Value. Setting Retain Level to Cold Start or Warm Start on the Value will also retain the full priority stack on a power failure or restart. Check the retain levels of each member of the priority array and ensure all are set to "No" and then set the Retain Level of the Value attribute to "Cold Start" or "Warm Start." To clear the retain level of individual priorities: Open point's Property window Click the Command tab Click the gear icon next to a Priority level, most likely starting with Priority 16. Check the checkbox for Retain level and set to No. To set the retain level on the Value attribute: Open point's Property window Click the gear icon next to the value Check the checkbox for Retain level and choose the desired level.

When the Continuum to EBO transition process was developed, features and functionality were added to the Automation Server so that it would accommodate an existing controller protocol. Neither the Infinet controllers nor the Infinet protocol was substantially redesigned in order to work with Automation Servers. Infinet controllers have never had a Value Transfer Setting capability and it was not added when the Continuum Transition process was developed. The primary method of value transfer in Infinet controllers is the Import/Export tables. In order to enter a point into the Import Export table of a controller, the point has to be bound to an Infinet Script program or to an Infinity Alarm notification. You can find more information on the I/E functionality in the following Knowledge base article. Details on Continuum Import/Export (IE) System The Import/Export system is a highly efficient means of value transfer that is base value change. If you chose to bypass the Import/Export capability, the only method available to you to control the frequency at which values are transferred over the Infinet bus is to read these values via a program that incorporates some form of throttling to slow down the polling rate.
