I/NET Seven System Log On

Issue I/NET Seven System Log On Environment I/NET Seven Site Cause Knowledge on I/NET Seven System Log On steps Resolution If you are logging on to the system for the first time since rebooting, restarting the driver, selecting System Log Off, or using the Signoff on Quit option, you must enter your host password. Note: You can configure I/NET to allow operators to logon simply by swiping their key/card at a Wiegand reader connected to the host workstation. Refer to User Enrollment and Auto-logon for more information. If the system is not already displaying the Log On prompt, select System Log On from the main menu. Type your Operator Name. This name can contain up to 30 characters. The following characters cannot be used within the Operator Name:" / \ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? <> The default operator name is "tac". If the system has just been installed and no operator names have been assigned, this default name should still be available. After operator names have been defined, you may wish to remove the default operator name to prevent unauthorized users from gaining access. Type your password at the prompt. This password can contain up to 127 characters. All keyboard characters are valid for use within this password. The system displays an asterisk for each character you type. The default system password is "dacs". If the system has just been installed and no other host passwords have been assigned, this default password should still be available. After host passwords have been assigned to all authorized users, you may wish to remove the default password to prevent unauthorized users from gaining access. Select OK to continue. Caution: The database server should not be shut down while I/NET is running. Shutting down the database server drops all existing connections to the database, and can result in corrupted data displays. (Only users with administrative privileges on the workstation can stop or start the database server.)

Integrated Dial Function

Issue Integrated Dial Function Environment I/NET Site Cause This function provides one-way communication between a PC and one or more LANs when you configure your system as "Dial" using the I/NET Setup program. The PC can dial out to a LAN but the LAN cannot dial out to the remote PC. You must use a US Robotics 56k modem model 5686E and a 78010 Tap at each LAN you want to call. You must have a second US Robotics 56k modem model 5686E connected to the PC doing the dialing. Resolution Define the phone numbers for the PC using the Phone Numbers Editor that appears in the Host portion of the Edit menu when you configure your system as "Dial." You must configure the modems attached at the call initiating end (modem connected to the host PC) and the call receiving end (78010 Tap on the controller LAN) so they communicate with each other. Define the address, name, modem speed and telephone number of up to 64 remote devices per host. Select Edit Host Computer Phone numbers from the main menu. The system displays the Phone Number editor. This editor allows you to add, delete, modify, or copy phone numbers. This editor also lists the remote sites you can access from this host. If you have not added any sites, the fields are blank. Select Add. The system displays the Phone Numbers - Add editor. Select the Index (0 to 63). This number determines which line in the list will display this entry. Enter a Name for the remote site (up to 16 characters). Choose a Dialing Speed from the drop-down list. The speed you select must be equal to or less than the maximum speed of the modem performing the dial out. Define a Telephone Number (up to 31 characters). Start the number with a "T" for tone dialing. No "T" indicates pulse dialing. Use a comma to indicate a two-second pause.

Overall Tap Configuration

Issue Overall Tap Configuration Environment I/NET Seven Site Cause Need information on Tap Configuration Resolution When you update parameters in a Tap, the changes will take effect when you disconnect from the Tap. If the changes are made to a shared dial Tap, the changes will take effect when the last connected host disconnects from the Tap. Use the following steps to configure a Tap. Refer to TCON300, I/NET Seven Technical Reference Guide, for a description of Tap configuration parameters. Select Edit Tap Host (or Link, or LAN) from the main menu. The system displays the Host Tap Configuration editor. The Link Tap and LAN Tap configuration editors are similar. This procedure describes the differences. Assign a Tap Name to the Host, Link, or LAN tap (up to 16 characters). On site Taps, use the spindial to choose a LAN Address (0 to 63) to identify the tap address on the controller LAN. The LAN Address field applies only to site taps. Depending on the type of tap, do one of the following: On host and LAN taps use the spindial to choose a LAN Speed. On link taps use the spindial to choose a Speed. On dial taps choose a Tap speaker setting from the drop-down list (Off, Auto, or On). Use the Firmware Status parameters for information purposes only. These parameters show the current revision number and revision date. These fields are display only, you cannot edit them. Use the Distribution Parameters fields to specify distribution group number, message priority, and the message mask. Note: When utilizing dual Tap functions (site Tap and LAN Tap) in a 7716, 7718, 7728, or 7793 (configured as -03 or -06), the values entered under "Distribution Parameters" in one Tap editor are used by all Tap editors emulated within the same DCU. Only one set of "Control Parameters" have been provided in each DCU. Select the Distribution Group number (1–4) to match the distribution group of the host PCs to which you want the Tap to send messages. Set the Message Mask to match the mask(s) of the host PCs to which you want the Tap to send messages. Set the Message Priority to None, Routine, Priority, or Critical. The Percent Full field is for AD/AA LAN Taps only. It specifies the number of messages that will be stored in the LAN/Site Tap’s RAM, as a percent of the total available memory, before the Tap calls the host PC. This is a deferred dialing parameter for "Priority" alarms. The Time Interval field is for AD/AA LAN Taps only. It specifies the time interval that must transpire following a "priority" alarm before the LAN/Site Tap calls the host PC. This is a deferred dialing parameter for "Priority" alarms.

Not recommended to use XBuilder time schedules to control I/NET controllers

Issue Using Time Schedules in the Xenta 527 Environment Xenta 527 I/NET system I2V integration Cause Users should exercise caution when creating time schedule objects and pages in the Xenta 527. If a time schedule is created and directed at an I/NET point that already has a time schedule on the controller, the point value will be incorrect until the schedules synchronize. Due to the risk of improper results, possible harm to equipment in an HVAC environment, possible security breaches in a security environment, and the risk that if Ethernet communications fail the point will not operate according to the schedule it is recommended that time schedules in the 527 not be used with I/NET points. Resolution The I/NET time schedule object, which is created during the save file conversion in XBuilder, should be used . This object will direct you to a page that modifies the I/NET time schedule on the controller.

Standard acronym video formats: PAL and NTSC

Issue There are two standard acronym video formats. What do PAL and NTSC stand for? Environment I/NET site Cause Answering the question of what do PAL and NTSC stands for. Resolution PAL This is short for Phase Alternating Line, the dominant television standard in Europe. The United States uses a different standard NTSC. Whereas NTSC delivers 525 lines of resolution at 60 half-frames per second, PAL delivers 625 lines at 50 half frames per second. Many Video adapters that enable computer monitors to be used as television screens support both NTSC and PAL signals. NTSC This is short for National Television System Committee. The NTSC is responsible for setting television and video standards in the United States (in Europe and the rest of the world, the dominant television standards are PAL and SECAM). The NTSC standard for television defines a composite video signal with a refresh rate of 60 half-frames (interlaced) per second. Each line contains 525 lines and can contain 16 million different colors. The NTSC standard is incompatible with most computer video standards, which generally use RGB video signals. However, you can insert special video adapters into your computer that convert NTSC signals into computer video signals and vice versa.

Attempts to connect to an MR-VAV-AX and make a change has no effect.

Issue Attempts to connect to an MR-VAV-AX and make a change has no effect. Looking at the MCU Configuration, the address shows to be communicating, but the Communications show a lot of bad CRCs or No Reply.  Environment I/NET site Cause Variety of causes, check below to troubleshoot. Resolution There are a couple of things that you need to look at: Verify that the controller has a proper power supply and it is grounded properly. Verify that it is communicating to the MRI properly and there are no shorts or anything on the Sub-LAN wire. After checking these, go back to the MCU Configuration and look at the comm. Stats again, if these are still showing bad CRC’s or No Reply then the unit (MR-VAV) itself may be bad and would have to be replaced.

Convert existing Idisc to large numbers (Hex)

Issue Convert Key Card Translation table to a Large Number and then remove the Key Card Table entry from I/NET. Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET site with Access Control Cause The process described will allow you to do this conversion on an active system without causing the Idisc to fail during process. Resolution For example take the Key card translation table below: With this Individual editor: Make an excel spread sheet that performs this calculation multiple times, or you can do it one at a time manually. The information needed for this calculation is located in the Key Card Table and Individuals editor. Source Number (from Key card table) Individual Number (from Individual editor) Target Number (from Key card table) Decimal Number (from Individual Editor) Source Number + Individual Number - Target Number = Decimal Number Source Number Individual Number Target Number Decimal Number 67806444 00001 1 67806444 67806444 00002 1 67806445 67806444 00003 1 67806446 67806444 00004 1 67806447 67806444 00005 1 67806448   Go into the Individual editor and modify an individual entry Take the calculated decimal number from the calculation above and add it into the Decimal Number area. The I/NET program will calculate the Hex number automatically. This Hex number should be the same as the bottom of the Idisc itself. Note: ONLY delete the Key table lines after you completed the entire tenant conversion. This will insure that all people will get into and out of the building. Note: These changes can be done on an active system. This is the process of adding NEW people in the system that has existing Key Card Translation table and you want to enter the NEW Disk as large numbers. Go into the access Individuals editor and Add a new person. It is not permitted to back-fill any existing Individual Numbers. In the example above Individuals 00001, 00003, and 00004 are defined. It is not possible to add Individual 00002. Go to the end of the Individuals list and choose the last number + 1 number. Set the Individual Number then place the cursor on the middle box and touch the new disc to the wand. This will place the Hex number in that box from the Idisc. The Hex number and Decimal number are listed in the Individual Parameters. Complete the process by filling out the rest of the Individuals editor.
