Monitoring an IO module online status and how to generate an alarm when it is offline

Issue Use the block DI to monitor an IO module, and generate an alarm when it is offline. But the above-mentioned function cannot be realized. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Menta Xenta 301, 302, 401 Xenta I/O Modules Cause If there is a configuration error in block DI, the right alarm cannot be generated. It is necessary to check and correct the configuration error. Resolution Create and configure the block DI and Alarm block according to the following procedure, then the IO module status can be monitored. When it is offline, an alarm will occur in the alarm window in TAC Workstation.   1. Create a block DI. (See the Figure 1) Figure 1 2. Edit the block DI and input DI identifier such as the monitored module name, Status_411 in instance. (See the Figure 2)           Figure 2 3. Click BIND in Edit window, select the Online Device in BIND TO column, and input the IO module number in DEVICE ADDRESS. (See the Figure 3)               Figure 3 4. The module number can be found in IO Expansion and Wall Module Table of DEVICE SPECIFICATION in Menta Options toolbar. In the under instance picture, the M1 module, TAC Xenta 411, its device address is 1; the M2 module, TAC Xenta 421A, its device address is 2; and so on, the M5’s device address is 5. (See the Figure 4)       Figure 4 5. After creating and configuring the block DI, the block Alarm should be created. (See the Figure 5)                Figure 5 6. Then connect the block DI and Alarm. When the IO module is online, the DI value is generally 1. So the block NOT must be used. (See the Figure 6)         Figure 6   You can also reference Monitor the online status of a base unit's associated I/O modules.

Workstation Log on failure due to unidentified port

Issue Workstation Log on failure. Difficulties with Login, port settings, and Server localhost: 80 8080 443 444 and other ports Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment StruxureWare 1.2.x.xxx and higher StruxureWare Building Operation Device Administrator StruxureWare Building Operation License Administrator StruxureWare Building Operation Enterprise Server StruxureWare Building Operation Workstation Cause Logging into Workstation, since I have changed my HTTP and HTTPS port setting to avoid conflict, and error is produced when the login fails: Resolution Beginning with StruxureWare Building Operation 1.2 and forward, Workstation uses the HTTPS as the default protocol (to make communication safer).  Below is the Software Administrator screen capture. Notice HTTPS is using port 450 in this example rather than default 443 since that port is used by another program on the computer.    Now when logging into Workstation, change the Localhost to that HTTPS port number. In this case, it is Localhost:450 Note: Remember, Server field in the Login screen shot above is for the AS or ES you want to connect to. To connect to an AS, plug in directly with ethernet cable (see Ethernet port is AutoSensing (No Crossover Cable required)), and put in IP address of AS.

Checklist for maintaining or servicing a typical Continuum installation

Issue Checklist to be used as a basis for Maintenance visits. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Continuum Hardware Continuum Software Cause Having a checklist available for routine maintenance will help with service calls to ensure Continuum sites continue to run smoothly over the life of the installation. Resolution There is no official maintenance checklist but some of the things you might want to consider checking on a regular basis are the items below. Continuum Analyzer Run the tests which check the database for known issues and provides a results file. See How to run Continuum Analyzer and get a report.   Review Windows Event Logs Check the Application and System Event logs for Continuum or SQL related errors. See Viewing, Saving, Sharing Windows Event Logs for Troubleshooting Purposes.   Check the size of the ContinuumDB The Database can't be more than 2GB in MSDE, 4GB in SQL Express, and the size of available space on the drive if using full SQL Server. Continuum will always run better when the database is kept trim, as the database size grows, Continuum transactions may start to slow down. If general system slowness is observed then check the database size and SQL Server resources first.   Truncate/trim event tables in ContinuumDB Especially the ExtendedLog table which can grow very rapidly if not kept in check. See Set up a Continuum system to do automatic log truncation to save database space.   Check that the Continuum Workstation is patched and up to date Periodically service packs and hotfixes are released for different versions of Continuum to resolve identified issues. Consult The Exchange Download Center for the current updates. Service Packs | Hotfixes   Check that Controller Firmware is up to date Check that the Controller firmware versions are supported for your version of Continuum and that they are up to date. Same as service packs for Continuum, new firmware builds are released as issues are identified and resolved. You can find supported firmware for each version of Continuum in the Compatibility Matrix. See Software and Firmware compatibility matrix for older versions of I/NET, Vista, Andover Continuum, Satchwell Sigma, I/A Series, and StruxureWare Building Operation. And new firmware updates are available on Exchange Extranet.   Check battery charges On controllers that have them, check that the battery for holding up the active RAM still has a charge. How to check -> Battery life in Andover Continuum controllers that have onboard batteries Replacement batteries -> Replacement batteries for the various Continuum controllers   Run the Continuum Errors listviews to see if there are any recurring errors that may need to be investigated.   Most Importantly - Backup the ContinuumDB before leaving site! Backup and restore instructions for a single-user system are below but these also apply to full SQL Server using Management Studio. Steps 1 and 2 in the article below apply to backing up a ContinuumDB. See Move / Backup / Restore a database on a Single User SQL2005 Express system.

Menta Parser Errors

Issue There are 31 different Parser Errors that can result from a Menta direct download to a programmable controller. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Xenta programmables Xenta 280, 281, 282, 283, 300, 301, 302, 401, 401:B Menta Cause Causes vary by error code.  See details below and any links to additional information. Resolution No. Name Comment 0 PARSER_OK   1 PARSER_CREATE_OBJ_ERROR Seen immediately on an attempt to download directly.  Subsequent attempts result in "Download Failed."  Resetting the device caused the error to come back.  See in the error in COD window that its showing 0,0 coordinate pairs and underlying information.  The error's not in the Menta code itself.  No spaces allowed in the Program Specification -- a change from earlier versions.  May render your device unusable after attempting to download -- correct files won't download either. 2 PARSER_ALLOCATE_FLASH_ERROR   3 PARSER_IOMOD_SAVE_ERROR   4 PARSER_VERSION_ERROR   5 PARSER_APPNAME_ERROR   6 PARSER_ABBREV_ERROR   7 PARSER_TYPE_ERROR   8 PARSER_SOURCEFILE_ERROR   9 PARSER_SIGNAL_ERROR Error 9 has to do with the signal list (ESP-file) there all the public signals are transferred from Menta into the GraphOP tool by a sort of a long list. Normally, if you just make the application in Menta, this should not be any problem, however search and replace on signal names could give you headache. 10 PARSER_ALARMTEXT_ERROR Seems to download and fails on resetting device.  Had a case where this occurred when the application was too large due to generation of an OP tree where there wasn't one before.  Check memory. 11 PARSER_TIMESCHEDULE_ERROR   12 PARSER_IOMOD_ERROR   13 PARSER_IO_ERROR The terminal may not exist in this unit type.  Could also include situations where the same terminal reference is used in multiple references (this could be on the Xenta or the IO module). Typically caused by copy/paste. Reference to unsupported I/O Error in COD file - Error:13 for more information. 14 PARSER_CYCLETIME_ERROR   15 PARSER_CODE_ERROR Constants table has scientific notation, PVR blocks have scientific notation, Expression block attempting to use scientific notation, application size too large PARSER_CODE_ERROR Error in COD file - Error:15 for more information. 16 PARSER_DST_ERROR   17 PARSER_CHECKSUM_ERROR   18 PARSER_EOF_ERROR   19 PARSER_SNVT_ERROR   20 PARSER_SNVT_CRC_ERROR   21 PARSER_AUTHOR_ERROR   22 PARSER_BLUEPRINT_ERROR   23 PARSER_NO_BPR_FILE   24 PARSER_TLOG_RAM_ERROR   25 PARSER_TLOG_FLASH_ERROR   26 PARSER_TLOG_TO_MANY   27 PARSER_TLOG_ERROR_IN_DEF   28 PARSER_TOLG_PARSE_ERROR   29 PARSER_IMAGE_TOO_BIG   30 PARSER_RESET_BEFORE_PARSED   31 PARSER_SELF_DESTRUCTION_PERFORMED

"No Answer" on an OP when connecting to a Xenta 280/300/400

Issue "No Answer" when plugging in an operator panel (OP) to a Xenta 300/400/280. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Xenta OP Xenta Programmable controllers Xenta 280, 281, 282, 283, 300, 301, 302, 401, 401:B Cause There are several adjustable parameters on the Xenta OP that put it into different modes of communication/user preferences. This is a comprehensive list of all of those that might affect connectivity in different situations. If the controller is NOT commissioned, the red LED is blinking. The controller will not talk to the OP until commissioned. The OP will only talk to controllers on its same Domain ID. For troubleshooting connectivity to a Xenta 100 series ASC, see Use a Xenta OP with a Xenta 100 controller. Resolution Is the TAC Xenta controller commissioned? If the controller is NOT commissioned, the red LED is blinking. The controller will not talk to the OP until commissioned. Commission the controller from Lonmaker if using an LNS network (to download to the controller from the system plug-in first) Download and commission from TAC Vista if using a classic network. What mode is the OP in? Press the "escape" and "enter" buttons at the same time to get to the "OP service menu," scroll down to "OP-mode." Usually the OP should be in MAN mode (unless installing it in Lonmaker). Is the OP talking on the same Domain as the controllers? Check what domain being used in Lonmaker or TAC Vista. Go to the OP service menu, OP LON address (dom0), change the domain to match the setting in Lonmaker/TAC Vista.

Using lontool32 to download a stand-alone controller

Issue A stand-alone Xenta programmable controller can have an application downloaded into it using a serial cable and Menta. However, if that base unit has additional Xenta 400 I/O modules associated with it, they will never recognize and associate with their base controller. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Stand-Alone Xenta Programmables Xenta 280, 281, 282, 283, 300, 301, 302, 401, 401:B Xenta 400 I/O Modules Menta Cause A direct download of a Menta application does not download any network description information along with it (.ndb file) -- it is application only.  The controller can be downloaded via System Plug-in, which places the .ndb file into the controllers, but this requires the creation of a "dummy" network.  lontool32 offers a quick work around for truly stand-alone controllers. Resolution It is best to use the most current system program for this method as older versions may not work. Note: While Menta allows for configuration of the communications port from COM1 to COM9, lontool32 can only communicate on COM1. Follow the instructions in Reassigning a USB Serial Adaptor to a desired COM port to force the hardware to COM1. Then launch the Menta Setup tool from the Start Menu (Start >All Programs > Schneider Electric > TAC Tools X.X.X > Menta Setup) and set the Com Port to 1. Using Menta, create and download your .MTA file to the Xenta programmable using the direct connect method. This connection will also be used for lontool32 downloads. After Downloading, ensure Menta is "offline" to allow lontool32 an active connection on COM1. Open the lontool32 program which is located in your Menta program folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric\TAC Menta 5.X.X\lontool32.exe) In lontool32, select the add button to add group, then select add node to add Base Unit. Double click on the Base unit to edit the node in the Network Configuration window. Select the Upload button to retrieve the Device and associated  I/O information. You will see this information populate the "database" column and associated I/O will populate the "I/O Modules" window below. *If the upload button remains grayed out, Ensure the Menta connection is "Offline" or follow the instructions here Reassigning a USB Serial Adaptor to a desired COM port to force the hardware to COM1. Also, check in the TAC Menta Setup program to verify that the Com Port is set to 1. Edit each I/O module by right clicking and selecting "Edit I/O". Use the "Service Pin" button to set the Neuron ID .  Enter the Subnet and a unique Node address in the appropriate text boxes. Repeat this procedure for every base unit in the network. If the network will contain more than one Base Unit, one must be designated as master by selecting the "master" check box in the Network Configuration window. When all the I/O has been updated, Select the "Download" button to generate and send the .NDB file to the base unit. Your I/O Modules should now be online which can be verified by the status light now oscillating every second vs. flashing quickly. If the Subnet Node information populates to a 0, you must type a subnet address and unique Node address for each unit on the network.

How to uninstall and completely remove TAC Vista 5

Issue How to completely uninstall and remove TAC Vista 5.X.X Product Line TAC Vista Environment TAC Vista 5.1 and later versions Windows OS (Windows XP, Windows 7 tested) Cause Occasionally it is beneficial to be able to remove a TAC Vista installation completely, removing any indication it was ever installed. Resolution When using the full SQL version not administered by TAC Vista: Backup SQL database named “taclogdata”. Use the backup function in SQL Server manager. Save the database outside of the Microsoft SQL folder Server and TAC root directory (usually C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric (note: TAC Vista 5.1.3 and prior will have path C:\Program Files\TAC instead) and C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server). Backup TAC Vista database using backup function in TAC Vista. Stop SQL manager, Task manager/processes – stop sqlserv.exe and sqlagent.exe if running. Remove all TAC Vista hotfixes using the uninstall program in Control panel Add/Remove programs. Remove TAC Vista Server 5.x.x using the uninstall program in Control panel Add/Remove programs. If additional TAC programs like TAC toolpack, TAC Xbuilder etc. are installed remove them as mentioned before. Remove SQL (Microsoft SQL Server 2005) using the uninstall program in Control panel Add/Remove programs. Delete remaining uninstalled TAC folders (usually C:\Program Files\Schneider Electric, TAC Vista 5.1.3 and prior will have path C:\Program Files\TAC instead). Delete remaining files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\TAC Shared. Delete remaining uninstalled SQL (Microsoft SQL server) folders (usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server). Check to see if TAC needs to be removed from the registry – Start, Run, REGEDIT. Find the registry key folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDll Remove all keys containing “TAC Shared”, e.g. C:\Program Files\Common Files\TAC Shared\TACADDON01_ENG.dll. If applicable - Remove SQL from registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft \Microsoft SQL server. Reboot. If SQL Server (TACVISTA) still listed under Services, please follow steps in SQL server service cannot be started during Vista 5.X.X installation to solve the issue. See How to uninstall and completely remove TAC Vista 4.3 to TAC Vista 4.5 for steps to completely remove TAC Vista IV.

Will IP settings persist when flashing a bCX4040 (BACnet) to a bCX9640 (Infinet)?

Issue Do IP settings go to defaults when flashing from 4040 to 9640? Product Line Andover Continuum Environment bCX9640 bCX4040 Cause Have a need to flash a controller from bCX4040 to bCX9640 over a remote connection access. Do not want to have to go to the site to reset IP settings.  Resolution Using CyberStation v1.93 a bCX4040 was flashed to a bCX 9640 and it did NOT lose its IP info. Notes: At the end of the upgrade an error was received: “The uprev could not communicate with the specified controller”. From the webpage it was noted that the IP address had not changed and the upgrade was successful. It did not come back online in CyberStation. From the webpage, resetting it still did not bring it back online in CyberStation. Changing the model number in CyberStation to bCX9640 (from bCX4040) to bring it back online was not an option. The flash upgrade had reset the ACCNetID to 1. The 4040 was then deleted (Bacnet side first then Infinity side) and a new 9640 was created. The proper ACCNetID was set up in the webpage and the changes committed. It was then online in CyberStation. Bottom line – IP address never changed. ACCNetID did. The controller never had to be touched during this process so remotely doing this is expected to work. This was only tested using the latest firmware and CyberStation v1.93. Of course, the best way to do this is on the bench not on a live system. Please be aware that the model flash change will cause node count and/or xdriver upgrades to be reset if they were added as post-factory-shipment upgrades (via the Repair Dept) since these upgrade UPD files are model specific. See Node or XDriver Upgrade of BCX Inf (9640) to BCX BACnet (4040) or reverse. Also see Update b3 or i2 OS, changing (converting) a controller, BACnet to Infinet or Infinet to BACnet .

Web Service - The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden

Issue When connecting to a Web Service, the connection is not established and the error "403 forbidden" is shown. A Web Service goes offline after having worked previously and the error "403 forbidden" is shown. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Web Service Generic Consume Cause The generic consume Web Service client in SmartStruxure doesn't have a user agent header defined. Some Web Service providers will not or no longer allow that, and denies the request when it comes from SmartStruxure. If the same URL is entered in a browser, the page is shown. The cause of this issue can also be that the Web Service is being polled too often. Resolution Until it is made possible to define a customer user-agent header, you need to use another application to relay the Web Service request. This can for instance be "SBO - Web Service through a Proxy and JSON conversion" from the Exchange Community.

Can a LON PCC-10 PCMCIA card work in a laptop with an express card slot?

Issue Laptops are now being supplied with an express card slot instead of a PCMCIA card slot. The LON PCC-10 cards are PCMCIA cards and will not fit in an express card slot. Product Line Satchwell MicroNet, Satchwell Sigma, TAC IA Series, TAC Vista Environment Using the Lon PCC-10 Card in a laptop that has an express card slot and not a PCMCIA card slot. Cause The latest laptops are being supplied with express card slots. The option of a PCMCIA card slot is becoming harder to specify. Resolution Although the slot in the laptop appears to be the same as a PCMCIA card, the Express card slot differs in many ways to the PCMCIA slot the PCC-10 card requires. Express card slot to PCMCIA card converters are available but not all support the PCC-10 card. Some express card to PCMCIA card converters only support 32 bit PCMCIA cards. The PCC-10 is a 16 bit card. Basic testing has been carried out on an express card to PCMCIA card converter with a LON PCC10 card from Roalan Ltd. You can purchase the EC1632 converter direct from Roalan Ltd. website by credit card through the Sagepay secure web server. Alternatively, you can phone your order to +44 (0)1202 861512 or fax it to +44 (0)1202 891454. The product is plug and play on Windows Vista and Windows 7 with a downloadable utility for Windows XP. (Only required on some computers. It was not required on the Dell E6420 when testing the card.) You can download the utility here: EC1632.zip, or from Roalan's website. Further information on the converter is available on Roalan's website. You may also download the EC1632 Installation Guide. The card should be plug and play. If your PCC-10 card does not work when using the express card converter, check the PCC-10 card installation using under the control panel. If the card is not working correctly review The Echelon LonTalk PCC-10 PCMCIA Network Adapter will not work with a Dell E6410 laptop. If you need to order a LON PCC10,PCMCIA card, they are available through Schneider Electric specification number WPA-LON-2.

Unable to connect to a Simple XML Web Service

Issue When adding a Simple XML Web Service interface in to SmartStruxure, the following error message is given.  Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SmartStruxure Workstation SmartStruxure Web Service Interface Enterprise Server  Automation Server Automation Server Premium  Cause The (403) Forbidden error means that the destination of the XML address being used is denying access.  Resolution Follow these steps:   Verify that the XML address can be reached in a normal web browser.  Contact the provider of the XML web service to gather more information on their requirements.    Note: Some providers require a username and password to acquire their information. In other cases they may require that the HTTP request contain an user-agent header. For example, weather.gov requires the HTTP header and will block any request without it. SmartStruxure does not currently support the HTTP user-agent header. You can check out the Community post SBO - Web Service through a Proxy, JSON and Image conversion as a possible workaround for these situations.

A Door configured with Magstrike status as Door Status re-locks after 2s even when Door Strike Time is set to 10s.

Issue A Door configured with Magstrike status as Door Status re-locks after 2s  even when Door Strike Time is set to 10s. Environment Continuum Access Control Cause The Door output will relock after the Door Strike Time or when the Door is opened. Since you are using the mag lock status as the Door status (not the preferred method), then as soon as the Door is unlocked, the mag lock is de-energized which turns off the Door Status which then relocks the Door 1s later. Resolution You need to monitor the actual physical status of the Door to indicate when it has physically opened and shut. Either that or remove the input from the Door object by setting the Door Status channel to 0. This should allow the Door to stay open the DoorStrikeTime. You can also use a PE program to get around not having a DoorStatus that monitors the actual Door. This post on the Community discusses this and has some good comments about using this type of Door control with the maglock status instead of a true Door Status switch and is worth a read. Below is an example Plain English program that can help monitor the Door for ValidAccess then hold the Door unlocked for the DoorStrikeTime. 1: If Door1 ValidAccess is On then Goto 2 If Door1 ExitRequest is On then Goto 2 2: Door1 = UnLocked If TS > Door1 DoorStrikeTime then Goto 3 ' wait for DoorStrikeTime 3: Door1 = Locked Goto 1
