Power Failure on MPM, the clock goes back to 1/1/2000.

Issue Each time that a power failure happens on a sites MPM, the clock goes back to 1/1/2000. Environment StruxureWare Lite MPM Cause This is most likely due to the battery shelf life, this happens if the controller was purchased and left unused for over 5 months before being installed. Resolution ∙ BR1220 from Panasonic (Lithium Carbon-Monofluoride) ∙ nominal voltage 3V ∙ Capacity 35mAh ∙ Self-discharge 1%/year, under standard conditions ∙ Operating temperature range -30°C to 85°C Units manufactured after week 13 2016 have a super capacitor rather than a battery. The capacitor has a charge time of approximately 5 minutes after which it will provide backup for the RTC for approx. 48 hours

Integrating third party devices via MPM CANbus

Issue Is it possible to integrate third party devices that communicate using CAN to an MPM? Environment Third party CANbus devices MPM Cause A third party device,( for example Woodward genset controller) communicates via CAN (Controller Area Network). Can the CANbus of an MPM be used to integrate such devices with SmartStruxure Lite? Resolution The CANbus protocol is only used between MPM's and the data exchange protocol is built-in. We are aware of one instance where the CANbus port was used to communicate with an end-device using CANopen therefore some commands do exist, but it is not documented anywhere and not tested or supported by R&D. This isn't recommended as a viable solution and Modbus should be used for this type of integration. A Google search brings up this page that has a few options for conversion of CAN to Modbus however none of these devices have been tested by PSS or R&D.

View the size of a Lua program inside an MPM

Issue How can the size of a program (Lua Script) be seen? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment Site with MPM Cause What size is the program? Resolution The size of the script is the size of the exported as a txt file. For a graphical script, convert the graphical script to text format (ignore warning but do not save script otherwise you will lose the ability to edit your graphical script) then save it as txt file. Lua Program Information The CFG1 object of any given Manager can provide detailed information on the average execution time of all the Lua processes in the system (in milliseconds), along with their memory usage and available memory (in bytes). The "Max Size" will never change, since 16MB are always reserved for the Lua tasks. But the "Size Used" is a good indicator of how much memory is currently being used by the Lua tasks. Note that approximately 8MB are used by default. So anything above 8MB will represent the custom Lua programs current memory usage. The "Avg. Execution Time" is the most interesting value. It represents how many milliseconds it took for all Lua programs to complete. When the system is empty (no scripts, no trend logs, nothing) the value should be below 100ms. An average load would be around 500ms and an overloaded system will take above a second (1000ms) to complete all of its tasks.

Does the MPM have an internal power source to maintain the clock during an extended loss of power?

Issue Does the MPM have an internal power source to maintain the clock during an extended loss of power? Environment MPM Cause Clock maintenance during a loss of power Resolution The MPM has a Lithium battery that will keep the system clock online/accurate during a power loss. The battery life is very high, however leaving the MPM unplugged for many months will eventually wear out the battery. Units manufactured after week 13 2016 have a super capacitor rather than a battery. The capacitor has a charge time of approximately 5 minutes after which it will provide backup for the RTC for approx. 48 hours

Wake-Up Interval and Redundant Transmission settings on the SED-THSU5045 thermostat.

Issue How do the Wake Up Time and Redundant Transmission settings affect the operation of the SED-THSU5045 thermostat? Environment SED-THSU5045 Enocean Cause The function of the Wake-Up interval and the Redundant Transmission switches is not described in the documentation that comes with the sensor.   Resolution DIP Switch 1 and 2 control the Wake-up Interval (in seconds) OFF OFF No cycling wake up ON OFF 1 OFF ON 10 ON ON 100 DIP Switch 2 and 3 control the Redundant Transmissions (in frequency of tx) OFF OFF Every wake up ON OFF 7 to 14 wake ups OFF ON 70 to 140 wake ups ON ON Never   The idea is that the stat will wake up when the wake-up interval is elapsed and verify if the temperature has changed by more than approximately 1°F. If it did, it will send a transmission, if not it will go back to sleep until the next interval. The second setting (redundant transmission) will govern how often the stat will send a value, even if the temperature has not changed (as some kind of ping or keepalive).

Enocean SED-THSU5045 thermostat super capacitor voltage test.

Issue The documentation for the SED-THSU5045 thermostat states that the super capacitor voltage can be measured across terminal strip TB1 terminals 1 and 2.  However, there is no mention of what an acceptable voltage reading would be.  Environment Super capacitor voltage specification is not published on the thermostat documentation. Cause A minimum voltage of 5.5 VDC should be present across TB1 terminals 1 & 2. Resolution If a 5.5 Volts DC charge cannot be maintained on the super capacitor, the device may require either an auxiliary light collector or external 24 VAC.  The Thermistat battery is not designed to run the thermostat for extended periods.

Therefore, depending on the business case in your region, it has to be discussed with offer management on whether it could be part of the roadmap or not. You are reach out to the regional product managers to discuss about the opportunity. APAC - EMEA Dusan Janjic (dusan.janjic@schneider-electric.com) Ilda Metani (ilda.metani@schneider-electric.com)  North America Michael Sabinash (michael.sabinash@schneider-electric.com) South America Marcelo Varde (marcelo.varde@schneider-electric.com)   To be able to build a driver for a 3rd party Zigbee device, the following information are required. IEEE Address Endpoint(s) Cluster(s) Attributes Instead of waiting for R&D to build a driver though, you can always write your own script using the information above. However, no active support will be provided by our support teams.

Do the 902 MHz EnOcean and the 315 MHz EnOcean MPM's just have different antennas?

Issue Cannot learn EnOcean thermostats into the MPM. Environment MPM, EnOcean Cause Purchased the wrong EnOcean frequency MPM. Can the antennas just be changed?  Resolution No, just replacing the antennas will not resolve the problem. The MPM controller and antenna must be replaced to match the frequency of the Enocean thermostats. Note: the 315 MHz EnOcean MPM uses an antenna with green stripes; the 902 MHz EnOcean MPM uses an antenna with yellow stripes.

How to bring an MPM-VA online via ZigBee with the MPM Coordinator?

Issue How to bring an MPM-VA online over ZigBee to communicate with the ZigBee Coordinator (which is also the MPM you have your IP interface with). Environment MPM, MPM-VA, ZigBee Cause Cannot figure out how to get the MPM-VA to communicate over ZigBee to the Coordinator. Resolution Use web interface on the bench to set up ZigBee Pro Extended Configuration on the "remote MPM-VA" to match the Coordinator's Channel, PAN ID, Extended Network ID, Stack Profile, Security Profile and Trust Center Link. Save settings and save database to flash. You can now disconnect the IP connection to the remote MPM-VA. Re-discover controllers from the Coordinator MPM. From the Monitor (the main MPM), I can pick up values from other MPM, but the other MPM could not pick up values from the Monitor.

Issue From the Monitor (DEV100) it is possible to pick up values from other MPMs, by the use of an LUA script. Example: ME.AV1 = DEV200.AV1 But, it is not possible for another device to pick up values from the Monitor (DEV100) device. Environment MPM Cause The Monitor device (DEV100) could see all other MPM in the network, and therefore could get values from other devices. Other devices will only see devices that are below itself in the tree structure, and will therefore not be able to get values from the Monitor device. Resolution The Monitor device (DEV100) have to handle all the transfers of variables both from MPM below, as well as sending variables to MPM devices below in the tree structure. Example: ME.AV1 = DEV200.AV1 DEV200.AV2 = ME.AV2
