Someone held a door open and the "Door open too long" did not report the alarm, what could cause this?

Issue Someone held a door open and the "Door open too long" did not report the alarm, what could cause this? Environment I/NET Cause If you are running I/NET 2.2x version there could be three reasons for this. In the door editor, there is a new alarm point defined for the "DOTL" that needs to be populated. The other possible cause is, if the door is in the unlock mode, the "DOTL" will not alarm.  The door sense switch is not working correctly. If you are running I/NET 1.xx then the "b & c" answers could be the problem. Resolution If you are running I/NET 2.2x version there could be three reasons for this. Fiber Optic Interfaces (FOI) in I/NET 2000

Issue What are the dip switch settings for each Fiber Optic Interface (FOI) in I/NET 2000 Controller LAN and subLAN? Can FOI communications be alarmed? How do you test them? Does the FOI need to be addressed in I/NET? Environment I/NET 2000 Fiber Optic Interface Cause Configure the network to work on FOI. Resolution Controller LAN Settings: SubLAN Settings: 1 = Off 2 = Off 3 = On 4 = Off 5 = Off (If no CRR) 6 = Off 7 = Off 8 = On 9 = Off 10 = On 11 = On 12 = On 1 = Off 2 = Off 3 = On 4 = Off 5 = Off (If no CRR) 6 = Off 7 = Off 8 = On 9 = On (9600 subLAN speed) 10 = On 11 = On 12 = On Notes: When testing the fiber optic section of the network, tests can be done in "Single-Mode" or "Multi-Mode." All testing must be performed in "Multi-Mode." Fault alarms can be sent from the FOI to a remote location using fiber line faults. You need to have Counter Rotating Rings (CRR) to get this feature. FOIs are not addressable. The FOI is transparent or invisible when viewed through a workstation or viewcon screen of the 7728 or 7798. Refer to TCON087, Fiber Optic Interface for more details.

"no lines available" messages

Issue My customer’s I/NET Seven site is getting “no lines available” messages when the host attempts to dial the 06 tap that sent AMT information. Has this been fixed? Environment I/NET site Cause My customer’s I/NET Seven site is getting “no lines available” messages when the host attempts to dial the 06 tap that sent AMT information Resolution (I/NET Seven rev 1.02, Track Record #3422 -) A change has been made in the way calls are handled so the line is not dropped until I/O Server is shut down. This eliminates the failure to answer incoming calls after the first call and clears the problem of “no lines available” when the Host attempts to dial out.

Why does my DM point on an MR always go into alarm?

Issue Why does my DM point on an MR always go into alarm? Environment I/NET site Cause Why does my DM point on an MR always go into alarm? Resolution The time to state timer in the DM/DC point resides up in the SLI. If an MR-DDC module starts the DC point, the MCI has no mechanism to start that timer. Therefore, the DM will create an alarm with every change of state. If the DC is controlled by an event sequence or point extension, the DM functions properly. If you need to use DDC, use a DO and DI and create a DA for the alarm handling. Attach a calculation (module or extension) to the DA of P0=P1 to compare the DO and DI points. Give the DA an alarm delay equal to the value you would have used for the time to state setting.

Will a small amount of AC voltage affect a Digital Input?

Issue A voltage between 50mV and 500mV at 50Hz is measured at the Digital Input and has raised concern as to it's affect on the Input. Environment b4, i2, b3, xP Modules, IOU modules. (anything with a Digital Input) Cause Concern over effect of induced voltage on the Digital Inputs. Resolution There is an RC filter on those inputs that should protect it at 50Hz for that voltage. The filter will protect down to 15Hz and the Digital Input will not turn on before 1.6V. Although this should not be a problem, and the RC filter should effectively cut this off before it hits the input circuitry, 500mV is still a substantial noise signal on an input and may be indicative of a grounding problem. It would be wise to try to eliminate this induced voltage.
