When entering a value of 1 into Code 08 on a 7780 HHC to enable all lights on, all the lights do not come on

Issue When entering a value of 1 into Code 08 on a 7780 Hand Held Console to enable all lights on, all the lights do not come on. Environment I/NET Site using the Hand Held Console (HHC) Cause When entering a value of 1 into Code 08 on a 7780 HHC to enable all lights on, all the lights do not come on Resolution Code 08 on a 7780 enables the all lights on function. If you go to Edit/Controller/Configuration and select “all lights on”, this will accomplish the same thing. This setting enables 00DI to be used as a trigger to turn all lights on at once, regardless of time schedule, calculations or anything else. Like wise if you enter “Code” 09 in the HHC, all lights off will be enabled and 01DI can be used as the trigger. This can also be done in Edit/Controller/Configuration setting.

How many Host Taps are supported on the Host LAN?

Issue How many Host Taps are supported on the Host LAN? Environment I/NET site Cause How many Host Taps are supported on the Host LAN? Resolution A host LAN supports up to 8 Host Taps and 16 Link Taps. Each Host Tap can connect directly to a workstation or indirectly to a workstation through a modem. Use the host LAN to connect multiple host workstations over a large area, segregating functions at each station. Devices on the host LAN communicate with each other at 19.2 Kbaud or 9600 baud. The host LAN reconfigures automatically as devices are added or removed. (TCON209, 1-5).

How do I set the address for the 78010 Tap?

Issue How do I set the address for the 78010 Tap? Environment I/NET site Cause How do I set the address for the 78010 Tap? Resolution Positions 1,2, and 3 of DIP switch SW1 define the TAP address. This address identifies the Tap when connecting through I/NET software. The Tap address can be set at 0 - 7 when direct connecting to a host LAN, and it will always be address 0 when connecting to a controller LAN. The switches are binary with their values being active when in the up position.

Displaying MultiState objects as text in a Vista graphic page

Issue Displaying MultiState objects as text in a Vista graphic page Environment Vista IV OGC Graphics Cause Typically users of Vista do not want to display MultiState objects using the digital representation on graphic pages since it will display only the raw value of the point rather then the descriptive state. Resolution Instead a text object should be dropped on the graphic page and when the attributes of this object are explored you can set the text object to act as a dynamic text object that displays different pieces of text for different values of the object it is associated with. The first step is to browse to the object that you wish to be associated with this dynamic text object. You will then need to verify that the attribute selected is value. The value field will allow you to select the various values that you want to have specialized text. Since a MultiState object does not have a fixed number of states in the way that a Binary object does you will find there are options from 0.00 to 140.00 in 10 unit increments. For the value of 0 you will enter the descriptive text in the text field when the value field has 0.00 selected. For the value of 1 you will enter the descriptive text in the text field when the value field has 10.00 selected.

Erasing NOVRAM from ASCs

Issue Erasing NOVRAM from ASCs Environment I/NET Seven Site Cause How to erase the firmware and programming in the ASC  Resolution There is a way for users to erase the firmware and programming in the ASC by following the following steps: Note: take care that you do not clear the memory on a stand-alone ASC with no SLI or I/NET computer with which to perform step 6! This procedure does not just reset the parameters, it removes the entire application. Remove power from the ASC. Place DIP Switches 6-12 in the off (0) position. Apply power to the ASC, and then remove power again. Place DIP Switches 6-12 in the on (1) position. Apply power to the ASC. Download the UPD file by selecting Update ASC to restore it to defaults. On occasion, it may be necessary to repeat steps 1-5 twice.

When opening an application file in Workplace Tech 5.x, the following error message appears: "AppXMLAddon error code: -##########" "unknown error."

Issue When opening an application file in Workplace Tech 5.x, the following error message appears:  "AppXMLAddon error code: -##########" "unknown error."  (where # = random numbers) Environment Workplace Tech 5.X Cause This error is caused by an illegal character in the application's nciLocation snvt. The character looks like a bold vertical line. WorkPlace Tech 4.0 did not have an issue with this character but WorkPlace Tech 5.x generates the above error. Resolution To eliminate the error: Open the application with WorkPlace Tech 5.x and continue to click OK until the drawing opens.  Locate the nciLocation snvt and check its initial value. LonMaker makes you wait in a 'transaction queue' before it will process any commands that require communications to the network.

Issue LonMaker makes you wait in a 'transaction queue' before it will process any commands that require communications to the network. Environment Echelon LonMaker Cause This problem seems to arise when changes are made to the structure of a large network in which the majority of controllers have been commissioned, but not yet installed. LonMaker then tries to continuously update these controllers of the network changes that have been made, but it can't since they are not online. Thus, when any requests are made by the user, they must wait in line until LonMaker gets to their requests. Resolution The problem has two solutions: The first, and most simple, is to bring all of the commissioned controllers on the network online. This will allow LonMaker's updates to be propagated to them all, causing an end to the cycle. The second solution is to decommission any controllers on the entire Network that are not online, but have been commissioned prior to the network changes. This will eliminate LonMaker's desire to update these controllers. These solutions must be applied to the entire network, and not just the channels that have actually had the network changes performed on them.

What's the difference in enabling / disabling the receive-heartbeat for a nvi programmed in any of the MNL controllers?

Issue What's the difference in enabling / disabling the receive-heartbeat for a nvi programmed in any of the MNL controllers? Environment MNL controllers (all models and revisions) Cause Preventing a nvi from dropping to its fallback value. Resolution With the receive-heartbeat enabled, the nvi can be set to fallback to a local sensor or value when communications fails. With the receive-heartbeat disabled, the nvi will hold its last value until the controller either is reset or a new value is received at the nvi. Being a nvi, the value is volatile (held in RAM).
