Escort or double card swipe required at a door.

Issue Does Continuum support Escorted or double card swipe requirements? Environment ACX57xx, AC1 range Cause Some specifications call for 2 valid cards to be presented before the door is released, also called the 2 man rule. Resolution Continuum does not support the requirement for escorting or double card swipe requirements, if a valid card is swiped at a door it will release. One possible workaround could be to have 2 readers (doors) each opening an output relay. Then wire the two relays in series, such that both outputs need to be On to power the door magnetic lock. So the personnel and the supervisor (or Escort) both need to present their card to their respective readers at the same time to open the door.

NPRs - Solution information for IT professionals.

Issue NPRs - Solution information for IT professionals. Environment I/NET site with a network Cause Is there information for the site IT Professional concerning NPRs Resolution The I/NET control network, on which the NPR is a component, makes exclusive use of UDP/IP packets. All retry, the control network applications layer handles timeout, and other packet transfer reliability. The maximum packet data component size is 140 bytes. The maximum UDP/IP packet size, including MAC and IP headers, is 186 bytes. Most control network transactions occur in the following four sets of packets: Transmission packet, Acknowledge packet, Response packet, and Response-Acknowledge packet. This is true for all transaction types including manual operator control actions initiated from I/NET, controller software downloads, and trend data uploads. Three control network packet transaction types occur periodically and are formed as a set of two packets. These transactions are for node to node (on the control network) supervision, global data point distribution, and message (alarms, transactions) distribution. This two-packet set is constructed of a Transmission packet and a Response packet. Node-to-node supervision occurs every 15 seconds. Global data point and message distribution occur at random intervals depending on the operator settings for those events on the control network. Acknowledge and Response-Acknowledge packets are 64 bytes in length. Transmission and Response packets will vary in length from 64 bytes to 186 bytes. The data content of the UDP packets is proprietary to TAC control networks. Critical configuration packet transactions between TAC control network machines use private key encryption to protect the data content. All other packet data contents are not encrypted. The highest Ethernet network utilization will occur during an I/NET host PC to NPR software restore action. This is the only sustained network activity where transmission packet sizes are filled to the maximum of 186 bytes. It is also the only control network activity that will generate a continuous transmission data stream. Network utilization during activity will be between 2 and 3 percent. To validate this statement, the Triticom Landecoder32 Ethernet monitor was used to observe network activity during the software restore process. Broadcast UDP/IP packets are NOT utilized by the control network applications. The only Ethernet broadcasts that will be used are standard ARP broadcasts for normal MAC to IP address resolution. The NPR requires a static IP address assignment. The control network makes use of logical port number 50069 as the transmission packet destination. The NPR exposes an SNMP agent that will provide SNMP managers access to the standard MIB2 network variable set. The NPR exposes a limited Telnet service that provides connecting clients access to control network specific debug information such as the application layer routing table a well as the IP stack routing table and ARP cache. The NPR operates at 10 Mbs and communicates at half duplex.

Windows XP is requiring you to log in and you do not know password after installing Vista 4.3.0 - 5.0.0.

Issue Windows XP is requiring you to log in and you do not know password after installing Vista 4.3.0 - 5.0.0. Environment Vista 4.3.0 - 5.0.0 Windows XP Cause Vista 4.3.0 - 5.0.0 creates local accounts on your computer when you install the software. These accounts are used by the SQL server portions of the software. However if the computer was still using the default Administrator account then the next time you boot up the computer it will ask you for the password on either the TACA_PCNAME or TACM_PCNAME accounts. The passwords are randomly generated and should not be used to log into Windows. Resolution To get back into your computer: Press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys twice to get to the traditional Windows 2000 log in screen. This will allow you to use the Administrator account to log into the computer. Once logged in you should create an account that will be used for normal operation. To avoid this problem you can restrict your installations to Vista 5.0.1 which will not use local PC accounts for SQL administration, but SQL Server accounts instead which will not effect the normal computer login process.

Is TAC Vista webstation 5.1.X supported on Windows 7?

Issue Is TAC Vista webstation 5.1.X supported on Windows 7? Environment Windows 7 Webstation 5.1.X Cause Webstation works with Windows 7, but the reason why it's not officially supported is that the number of concurrent connections is limited to 10 (the same as in XP). Does ReportCmdLine.exe interact directly with network mail services?

Issue Does ReportCmdLine.exe interact directly with network mail services.  Does ReportCmdLine.exe function the same as selecting the email delivery icon on the report toolbar? Environment CyberStation ReportCmdLine.exe Exchange Reports Email Delivery Cause The ReportCmdLine.exe and manual report delivery do not function in precisely the same way.    Resolution The ReportCmdLine.exe has no interaction with mail services whatsoever.    What ReportCmdLine does is it notifies the report object that the report should be created in the form of an email, or a file, or both.  The effect is similar, though not precisely the same as opening the report object and selecting the Email button on the tool bar.    These two actions, i.e. sending a report email by selecting the report email button or by using the ReportCmdLine argument 3, differ in the following way.  Report Email button: The Report Email button creates an email that must then be sent manually.    ReportCmdLine.exe When the report object receives the email argument from the ReportCmdLine.exe it creates an email in the Outlook Outbox.  In either case the email is not sent until, in case of the Report email button, the operator selects the send button on the report email or, in the case of the ReportCmdLine, Outlook is launched upon which it can move the email from it's outbox to the sent mail box.  These operations are handled by the report object.  ReportCmdLine plays no part in this beyond passing on the argument.  In either case you need a mail client that supports Enhanced MAPI protocol (IOW/ Outlook) on the same Continuum workstation otherwise the report email will remain in the OutBox and will not be sent until Outlook is launched.

Sigma Programmable Object Must Respond to Multiple Digital Input State Changes

Issue A Sigma Programmable Object must detect changes in the state of multiple Digital Inputs (DIs), trigger an external alarm via a Digital Output (DO), and then reset itself to detect subsequent changes—even if the triggering DI remains active. Product Line Satchwell BAS & Sigma Environment Satchwell Sigma Cause The programmable object is configured to monitor several digital input points. When any of these points change state (e.g., from OFF to ON), the object must activate an external alarm via a digital output. However, to ensure it can detect future state changes on the same input, the object must reset its internal state after a defined period—even if the input remains ON. Resolution Use a programmable object with logic that: Monitors multiple digital input points (e.g., points 33, 35, 36, 37). Increments a counter ( XINT ) for each input that is ON. Compares the current count ( XINT ) with the previous count ( YINT ). If a new change is detected ( XINT > YINT ), it: Updates YINT Starts a 60-second timer Triggers an alarm (priority can be adjusted) If no new changes are detected and the timer expires, it resets YINT to 0, allowing the object to detect future changes. Sample Code: 10 XINT = 0 20 IF POINT 0|33 ON THEN XINT = XINT + 1 30 IF POINT 0|35 ON THEN XINT = XINT + 1 40 IF POINT 0|36 ON THEN XINT = XINT + 1 50 IF POINT 0|37 ON THEN XINT = XINT + 1 60 IF XINT > YINT THEN GOTO 100 70 IF TIME LEFT THEN GOTO 120 80 IF XINT = 0 THEN YINT = 0 90 RETURN FALSE "reset" 100 YINT = XINT 110 SET TIMER 60 120 ALARM 1 130 RETURN TRUE "Alarm" Notes: Timer duration (Line 110) and alarm priority (Line 120) can be customized. Additional DI points can be added by replicating the logic in lines 20–50.
