How I/NET 2.3X has the ability to designate a particular host to do an automatic restore

Issue How I/NET 2.3X has the ability to designate a particular host to do an automatic restore Environment I/NET site Cause How I/NET 2.3X has the ability to designate a particular host to do an automatic restore Resolution Go to the host’s Network Configuration/Link Summary. Highlight the desired row. In that row you will find a column labeled “R/H”. This stands for Restore-Host. Modify this row. In the Restore Host prompt, place the same host number you entered in the host’s active Configuration Profile. (Don't forget to make sure that host has current save files!)

Controlling LonWorks sunblind actuator results in incorrect end position

Issue When opening (pull up) sunblind, it stops at the end of runtime and then rolls back down. When closing (pull down) sunblind, it stops at the end of runtime and then rolls back up. Environment Lonworks devices including REG-N MSE4 (SVEA 32237-346) Sunblind actuators Cause The sunblinds only have UP/DOWN functions, and there is no panel angle setting. The sunblinds are not venetian, just simple sunblinds. The sunblind actuator is preconfigured for use with venetian blinds. For example when driving down completely first the motor is energised for the time configured in UCPTdownDriveTime, then stops a short moment and then turns the angle of the lamella by energising the motor for the time configured in UCPTpanelTurnTime (dependent on the value of parameter UCPTdownPanelAngle). Resolution When not  using venetian blinds the parameters UCPTdownPanelAngle, UCPTupPanelAngle, UCPTpanelTurnTime and UCPTpanelTurnTimeBottom should be set to zero. Commands to the sunblind actuator then should as well have the value of zero in the rotation part of the SNVTsetting command.

How to properly setup links in configuration profile? What do system and hardware mean?

Issue How to properly setup links in configuration profile? What do system and hardware mean? Environment I/NET Site Cause How to properly setup links in configuration profile? What do system and hardware mean? Resolution The only time a link is defined is when you have cable connected to the computer's serial port which then connects to a tap or modem. If there is no tap or modem connected to THIS computer, you DO NOT assign a link and the link type is ""none"". When the link type is direct, INET is looking for the dip switch address of the Link tap. This is the address you use in the "hardware" field. If you are connecting to a 78010 tap which connects directly to a controller lan, the hardware address IS 0 because it is performing the functions of the Link tap. It's obviously 0 as well when you are connecting to the emulated tap of a controller because it connects directly to the controller lan. If the 78010 connects to a host lan (not to be confused with an ethernet lan), INET is looking for the dipswitch address of the 78020 or 051 taps. They are the link taps.

Can an I/NET system communicate across ethernet routers which use Network Address Translation (NATing)?

Issue Can an I/NET system communicate across ethernet routers which use Network Address Translation (NATing)? Environment I/NET Site Cause Can an I/NET system communicate across ethernet routers which use Network Address Translation (NATing)? Resolution In general, I/NET works best if we are able to pass an unadulterated packet of information from one host/NPR on the ethernet to another...and back again. Network Address Translation in a commercial router does just that; translates the address of a packet coming into the router to one of several devices that reside on the other side of it. I/NET workstations can successfully deal with NATing or spoofing because they utilize commercially available network drivers which do the communication for us. Under most circumstances, the NPRs can NOT because they have a limited set of network drivers which does not accommodate NAT....or DHCP for that matter. There are generally four different implementations of NAT. Static, Dynamic, Overloaded and Overlapped. The NPR will only stand a chance at working in a Static NAT implementation, but we do not recommend it. If you must install NPRs on such a network, call Product Support for assistance.

I/NET 2000 launches "EqualCli" automatically

Issue Does I/NET 2000 launch "EqualCli" automatically? Environment I/NET 2000 Cause File equalization is required if you have more than one host workstation which will need access to any of the above files. One host workstation is designated as the filemaster. This designation is performed in the Configure program and is maintained in the configuration profile. When you select the Set as filemaster option, Configure automatically completes the filemaster name field with the Computer name (found in the Identification tab under Windows Network settings). The filemaster name field is read-only on the filemaster station and cannot be changed. Resolution Yes, EqualCli will launch automatically. For more information see TCON 209, The Filemaster, 1-13. When the workstation is designated as the filemaster, I/NET stores a master copy of each equalized file in the \MSTR directory. It is important that the designated workstation be constantly powered and that the EqualSrv program be running. EqualSrv will dock an icon in the system tray to indicate it is active. Both EqualSrv and EqualCli are launched automatically by I/NET on the filemaster workstation and stay running as background tasks, even when I/NET is shut down. If necessary, you can manually shut down EqualSrv from the system tray icon menu. Warning: If the filemaster workstation is powered off, or if EqualSrv is not available, file equalization cannot occur. Furthermore, other host workstations will not be able to modify any of the equalized files. It is recommended that the filemaster workstation be powered by a uninterruptable power supply (UPS). All other host workstations must enter the Computer name of the filemaster workstation in the Filemaster name field. I/NET launches the EqualCli program on the host workstations automatically. Before any host workstation can access an equalized file, the EqualCli program contacts the EqualSrv program running on the filemaster station to ensure that any modifications can be passed to the filemaster copy. If, for some reason, EqualCli cannot make contact with EqualSrv, the operator will receive an error message and will not be able to access the equalized file. This ensures that no updates to the file are lost. If EqualCli makes contact with EqualSrv, the operator is permitted to access and modify the equalized file. EqualCli passes the updates to EqualSrv, who then updates the filemaster copy. If the update is successful, EqualSrv will make the file available to all the host workstations. There are three events which trigger the file equalization procedure. When I/NET is launched on any host workstation. When an operator attempts to access an equalized file. When any operator successfully updates an equalized file.
