BACnet Schedule goes into Fault and shows a value of "ConfigurationError" in its Reliability field.

Issue After modifying a BACnet Schedule it goes into Fault with its Reliability field showing "ConfigurationError". Environment Continuum, BACnet Schedule Object Cause When a user logs into Continuum with a User that does not have view rights to the InfinityController object, the schedule object used is the Infinity Schedule instead of the expected BACnet Schedule. The Infinity Schedule uses Active/Inactive for its TimeValue entries instead of the default 1/0 that the BACnet Schedule object uses. When a value is set as Active/Inactive, the Schedule is unable to interpret this value and goes into fault.  Resolution Make sure that any User that needs to modify BACnet Schedules has view rights to the InfinityController object enabled. Remove all TimeValue Entries that are Active/Inactive, replace with valid entries, save Schedule.

Can not select X Driver option on a bCX controller even though it is X Driver Enabled.

Issue When editing a bCX controller Comm port you can not select X Driver option on a bCX controller even though it is X Driver Enabled. The Drop down box for Comm1 only has Autoset and Printer options. Environment bCX1 Controllers, X Drivers, X-Drivers, XDrivers Cause When the bCX1 was first released as supported by V1.70 Cyberstation it did not support X Drivers.   Resolution Cyberstation V1.70 and above support all bCX1 controllers (bCX1 9640, 4040 & 4000). The bCX1-CR (4040) did not initially support X Drivers, this feature was added in Cyberstation V1.82 and required a minimum firmware in the bCX1-CR (4040) of V4.500047 (see Compatibility Matrix). How can a PE program determine which side of a dual reader door a valid access took place?

Issue How do I determine whether a Valid Access event took place at the entry or exit side of the door from within a PE program? Environment CyberStation CX9702 CX9900 CX968x ACX57xx ACX7xx IOU Modules AC1, AC1A, AC1Plus Cause Need a way to determine which side of a dual reader door a valid access event has taken place. Resolution Compare the door’s TimeEntered attribute to the TimeExited attribute, if TimeEntered > TimeExited then the event took place at the entry side of the door, otherwise it took place at the exit side. The same technique can be used for Invalid Attempt events using the door’s InvalidEntryTime and InvalidExitTime attributes

Issue Failure when upreving a Controller to a new flash version. Error window pops up with the error message "This Uprev file does not match this type of controller.". SmartStruxure "Update Failure No b3 controller matches to update" Environment Continuum Controllers b3 Cause The Controller Model has been entered incorrectly or you are trying to load the wrong flash file into the controller, e.g., the Controller Model in the Device object has been incorrectly set to i2810 when the controller is actually an i2814. Resolution Confirm that the correct flash file for your controller model and the Controller Model field both conform to the actual model type of your Controller. How to sound a buzzer when a Request To Exit (REX) button is pressed?

Issue How to sound a buzzer when a Request To Exit (REX) button is pressed on a Continuum Access system? The inputs to a door are not defined as regular Infinity inputs so how can they be programmed by Plain English programming? Environment ACX57xx (ACX5740, ACX5720) and AC-1 IOU modules (AC-1, AC-1A, AC-1 Plus) Cause When engineering an access control project, there is sometimes the requirement to sound a buzzer or turn on a light when the door is unlocked, or when a Request To Exit button is pressed, as the input points used within the door object configuration are not defined as a regular Infinity Inputs, so how to achieve this functionality? Resolution To use a Request To Exit (REX) switch on any of the ACX controllers or AC1 Modules:  It has to be a supervised input wired with the appropriate resistors in one of the 6 standard configurations defined in the installation guides (All available on the Extranet). You can not use a simple digital input switch without resistors. Incorrect circuitry or missing resistors will result in a Trouble indication on the door. The REX input is not a regular Continuum input point as it is defined within the door configuration, as it is not a Infinity input point directly accessible from Plain English but can be read via the "ExitRequest" attribute of the door. To sound a buzzer from the from the door there are 3 options: Use the existing door output and slave a buzzer circuit from the output that drives the Magnetic lock, so will sound when the door unlocks. If you want the buzzer to sound when the REX button is pressed then use a button with a 2 pole switch (2 separate contacts): Wire one to the REX input with appropriate resistors. Wire the other switch to a spare Input Configure it as either a Digital input or a Supervised input with resistors. This point can be used in your PE programming to drive the buzzer output. The third option is to use a Plain English program to read the "ExitRequest" attribute of the door and turn on an output for a defined time. The ExitRequest attribute may only be on for a short period of time so the program must be constantly looking for this attribute to change as well as keeping the controller Scan time low.

What is the maximum number of Access Events a controller can hold?

Issue The AccessEventSize system variable determines the number of events to retain in a controller when it goes offline, what is the largest value you can enter? Environment Access Control systems using the Netcontroller II (9680) and ACX57xx (5740, 5720) Cause When designing an access control system, it is often required to know how many access events a controller will retain if the network connection to the workstations is lost. Resolution There is no fixed maximum number you can enter in the EventLogSize, it is dependent on the available free memory in the controller (Freemem). Typically you should have enough available memory be able to enter a maximum value between 100,000 and 170,000, but this will use up the majority of the controllers available memory. This may be OK if you are only doing Access control with the controller, but if you are also doing: BMS functions then you may have requirements to store logged data for temperatures etc.  Or you may be using X Drivers with thousands of numeric points           These would all use up the free memory and may only allow you to hold a few thousand events.  You have the flexibility to set the value, but the controller will not allow you to enter values that would exceed its available memory.

How to restore the Plain English Editor layout to the default factory settings?

Issue The Plain English editing environment is made up of several windows that can be moved, closed, resized and generally re-arranged, it may be required to restore the default settings. Environment Cyberstation Workstation all versions. Cause The various windows in the editor may have been closed or shrunk down to a size that can not be found, or moved out of the viewable area so they can not be moved back to the regular positions. It is also possible that the initialization file has been corrupted. Resolution Stop the Continuum workstation  Find the PlainEnglish.ini file in the C:\Windows directory, this file holds the last setting of your Plain English editor environment. Delete the PlainEnglish.ini  file. Start up Cyberstation, log in. Open the PE editor this will create a new file and use the default settings for all window positions.

Working with Continuum User Security

Issue The customer can log off of Continuum, but he can't shut down Continuum. Environment CyberStation WebClient Cause Permission to exit Continuum has not been granted to the Continuum User. Resolution Right click on the Continuum icon in the Windows Active Icon tray Select Security Navigate to the appropriate object class or folder.  In this case navigate to the Miscellaneous folder. Look for the row named Terminate Continuum. Move left horizontally along the row until you get to the icon associated with the user group you wish to grant the permission to.  (The user group indicator will appears when the arrow is over each lock or key icon). If there is a lock icon, the permission is currently denied.  Click on the lock and the icon changes to a key.  The permission is now granted. Log Off of Continuum and log on with a user from the modified user group to test the permissions. NOTE:  There are cases when multiple permissions must be granted to allow a user to access specific functions.  For example, you can grant a user permission to reload a controller, but he will not be able to do so unless you have granted him access to launch Continuum Explorer.

Unable to wake up roamIO when using bluetooth on a laptop

Issue Attempting to access the infinet service tool using a bluetooth connection gives an "unable to wake up roamIO" error.  The bluetooth device was successfully paired with the laptop and the port has been changed to match this port in the infinet service tool preferences, but the device will not connect with the infinet service tool. Environment Infinet Service Tool Windows XP Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2008 Roam IO2 Cause Unable to establish bluetooth connection with the Infinet Service Tool Resolution Upgrade the infinet service tool version to 1.1 Use a version of the bluetooth software for the laptop or PDA that allows specific configuration of the comm port in order to assign it to a port that is less than 9. Note: The 1.1 version of the infinet service tool allows for comm ports greater than 9 (i.e. comm39), but earlier versions would only allow up to comm9.  Some versions of the laptop bluetooth software differ allowing configuration of the bluetooth comm ports to a lower comm number.
