Third party software on my I/NET PC

Issue Can I run third party software on my I/NET PC Environment I/NET Site Cause Third party software on same pc as I/NET Resolution TAC software is delivered for use on IBM and compatible PCs. While your PC is capable of running other third party software while running I/NET, trying to do so may present general operational difficulties. This is particularly true if the other third party software is memory resident. When used as it is intended, the TAC software is also memory resident. The use of more than one memory resident program at the same time may impose unresolvable PC system parameter conflicts and may cause one or more of the memory resident programs to fail. Refer to TCON 300.

The Station buttons are missing in the MCU Configuration dialog box

Issue The Station buttons are missing in the MCU Configuration dialog box Environment I/NET 2000 Site Cause The Station buttons are missing in the MCU Configuration dialog box. What happened? Resolution To provide you with the ability to configure or hide the statistical features of I/NET 2000, there are three .reg files included in the I/NET 2000 application root directory. When you double-click the desired *.reg file, it will update the DiagnosticFlag in the registry to the associated condition. Each file and its function is as follows: NoStats.reg - No statistics dialog shown, Stats.reg - Shows statistical data but does not allow back-ground ASC resets or manual MR/ASC resets, Stats&Reset.reg - Shows statistical data with ability to perform background ASC resets or manual MR/ASC resets.  For more information see TCON 217.

TCP/IP Settings required for an I/NET Seven Installation (Ethernet Speed Settings)

Issue TCP/IP Network Settings required for an I/NET Seven Installation.  If the incorrect network speed is used, communication with the NPR-2000 and the Xenta 527 will fail. Environment TCP/IP Network I/NET Seven NPR-2000, Xenta 527 Cause I/NET works on 10 Mb/Second (also known as 10-half).  The NPR-2000s and the Xenta 527 will only function on 10-half. Resolution I/NET requires Microsoft's TCP/IP protocol. While I/NET Seven can coexist with another vendors networking software, (Novell or Banyan, for example) it will not use any other version of TCP/IP. You can add Microsoft's TCP/IP in the Network options of the Control Panel. Most modern Ethernet Switch gear should be set to "Auto Negotiate" for 10/100mb speed required by a device, but speed is an important factor for proper communication.  I/NET can only run on a 10 Mb/Second network. Old style NetPlus Routers(NPR-2000), Xenta  527 NPR, and Xenta 527 Web require 10 Mb/Second.  See TCON 300 (from the Technical Reference Manual included on the I/NET installation CD) for further details.  TCON 300 has all of this information on pages 1-9; 1-33 & 1-34 Because this is not an individual PC configuration, assistance from the building IT staff will likely be required.

TAC I/NET Seven Filemaster is Full SQL 2005 and Equalized Client is SQL Express fails to equalize.

Issue Filemaster is Full SQL 2005 and Equalized Client is SQL Express fails to equalize.  Environment 2.31 version of TAC I/NET Seven 2.4x  version of TAC I/NET Seven Full SQL 2005 for the Filemaster SQL Express for the Equalized Client In the test environment, the Filemaster and Equalized Client has Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 for operating system. Cause SQL Express  doesn't start equalization services automatically. Resolution The Equalized Client refused to replicate the database with the Filemaster. Equalization is not succeeding even though the little icon may say it is equalized. Filemaster shows pending. Start I/NET and check the host passwords to see if equalization has taken place. The following steps will cause equalization to take place:  Restart the pc to ensure there isn't a program hanging in the memory. Demote Equalized Client to Stand Alone. Exit I/NET and I/O Server Go to Start/Run/CMD Maneuver to the c:\Program Files\Inet Seven folder and type the following:  ineteqzmerge /unregserver     press the Enter key ineteqzmerge /service     press the Enter key Now go to Services by selecting My Computer/Manage/Services and look for the Service running called InetEQZMerge and start the service and select Automatic. Now you should promote the I/NET workstation to Equalized Client ensuring you put the Filemaster Name rather than IP address. The snapshot will be delivered to the Equalized Client. After equalization you may need to shut down I/Net and the I/O Server one last time and then restart I/Net Seven. Now return to Services by selecting My Computer/Manage/Services and look for the Service running called InetEQZMerge where you should STOP then START the service again.  One way to test equalization from Filemaster to Equalized Client: in I/Net Seven under Edit/Host Computer/Passwords add a user/password. Check the other computer to see if the database replicated the new user/password and Vice Versa. If ineteqzmerge is already running as a service.  Try stopping and starting the service. Note: Using SQL 2008 on a Windows Server 2003 OS? Read TCON301 on page 2-4.

Support of Control Description Command delays in SubLAN devices.

Issue Is it possible to use Control Description (command) delays on MR controllers? MR (Micro Regulator) DO points not turning ON (or not turning OFF) - sticking. Environment I/NET Seven MR (Micro Regulator) Controllers Cause The Control Description command delay was not implemented in the MR as it was not intended to be used for control of multiple high power devices, which this feature was designed for; also, the MR does not have the memory capability to support the timer queue to handle it. Note: The Control Description command delay does function within the SLI (7793 / 7798B1 / 7798C) although this function is supported here it is not intended for the control of multiple subLAN devices, such as the MR.  You should not rely on this control function from the SLI.  Undesired results can be expected if this is implemented and is not supported. Resolution The Control Description Command Delay is not supported within subLAN devices and should not be implemented.  Alternative methods of delaying startup of control devices are: Using Time schedules; the Master / Slave time schedules feature.  Within the slave schedules you are able to delay / adjust the start time by minutes. The combination of using Master / Slave ATS and Host ATS provides a powerful and simple user interface in modifying all the Master Schedules from a single location. Refer to TCON 300 Chapters 4 and 7. MR Functions (DDC); If your control delays are required within the MR, a method available to use is the MR-DDC Relay modules are the delay before break (DDB) or delay before make (DBM) timers.  An even simpler method would be to stagger scan rates (using prime numbers) within your MR Function DDC modules.  Refer to TCON 300 Chapter 13. The DDC modules have there own scan rates and control the point based on this scan rate and will override any Resident I/O Point scan rate defined on these output points. Programmer timers from within the SLI which the control critical items of plant and require a staggered startup procedure.

Special Day Broadcast configurations in I/NET

Issue  All time schedules on site did not start. What is the difference between "Global Special Day Broadcast" and "Special Day Broadcast" in the Network Functions? Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Seven 2.xx and greater Cause Special days are incorrectly configured in the controllers special day calendar as permanent, or are not re-entered each year. Resolution There are two types of broadcast settings available under the Network Functions, Special Day Broadcast option in I/NET. Using the 'Special Day' broadcast setup in the Network Functions allows only a single temporary 'special day' entry to be sent to selected controllers saved in your network configuration (Netcon). Using the "Global" special day broadcast the entire special days calendar to the selected controllers in your network configuration (Netcon).  The entries in this calendar can be selected as either temporary or permanent. Refer to TCON299 TAC I/NET Seven Operator Guide 5/10 Chapter 2-34 (Network Functions – Special Day Broadcast) available on your installed I/NET workstation or from the Download Center). Also refer to Time Schedules through Special Days Button.

Reference page 2-14 through 2-23 of TCON 301, the chapter named Modifying TAC I/NET Seven's ODBC Data Source.  Once the ODBC Data Source is configured, proceed with the steps below: Go into the ID Works Administrator Editor and select the System tab. Scroll down to the Photo Path option. Direct the current path to the PC that is going to be the Server. In this example, the PCs Name and Photo location is: \\TPServer\CDrive\I7photos   Go into the ID Works Designer Editor open each of the site badge templates and modify them for the Server PC link. Open one of the templates. Highlight the Image path square and do a right mouse click. Go to the Field Properties option. Set the path to the Server PC location for the badge photos. See the example below for further information.   In this example the server PC is named TPServer. Badge photos are in the C:\I7photos\Thumbnail directory. There are only eight pictures entered at the time these captures were made. The jpegs for those eight individuals were saved to the folder using the CardNumber as the name shown below:
