Trend intervals with StruxureWare Building Operation

Issue What are the intervals for Trends when using StruxureWare Building Operations Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Enterprise Server or Automation Server Cause Questions regarding what the interval in time is for trending Resolution Intervals can be in Days, Hours, Minutes, Seconds, and Milliseconds. . Trend logs can be of different types and used for different purposes. All logs in StruxureWare use circular storage. The interval trend log collects data at a specific time interval. Each logged value is stored as a record in the trend log. Use this trend log when the logging interval is less than 1 hour. You create interval trend logs using WorkStation or WebStation. In WorkStation, you configure the properties of the interval trend log to meet the specific needs of your site. The interval trend log does not record the values between the intervals. An interval log checks the monitored value at each interval and records the new value if it differs from the previously recorded value by more than the delta. Delta is the difference between the current variable value and the last log value. To log a variable according to the time interval, use a delta of zero. You use an extended trend log to transfer records from a trend log. An extended trend log can be connected to a trend log or connected in a series to another extended trend log. Only one extended trend log can be connected to a trend log. You create and configure extended trend logs using WorkStation. The extended trend log is often saved on a higher server level with more storage capacity than the server of an ordinary trend log. This extra storage capacity enables the server to store more records before it overwrites old ones. The extended trend log can be viewed in a trend log list or a trend chart. Trend log lists and records can be exported in two different formats: CSV (Comma separated values) is a standard file format for digital storage of data structured in a table of lists form. The CSV format can be used by Excel and in databases such as SQL. XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a standard file format for structured data and can be use with a lot of different tools. One last suggestion is the number of records, depending on how many records you want to store is important. For example: a single one minute interval Trend Log, and for 66 day, that would be 99,792 records. The maximum is 100,000 on an AS, so take this into account when configuring. This is why Extended Trend Logging is important. Check out Maximum number using StruxureWare Building Operation (Scalability and Capacity) for information on trends and extended trendlogs.

"Database upgrade failed!" when attempting to upgrade a Server database from 1.7.x to 1.8.1

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue While upgrading a database from 1.7.1 to 1.8.1 that has already been prepared, the upgrade log states that a MAP file is missing (similar to one shown below), and the upgrade is cancelled and reports "Database upgrade failed!" MAP file is required for upgrading the type public.lon2.devicetemplates.pidxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx but none could be found Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Upgrade LonWorks Pre-upgrade add-on Observed in version 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 Cause At some point in a previous version of StruxureWare Building Operation, the import of a device template has gone wrong in the sense, that the XIF has been imported and parsed correctly, but stored incorrectly. That means that we have cases where the actual content of the XIF stored in the database, can either be another completely different XIF, or even in some cases just random files. The issue can be verified by performing a "Content Analysis" using the "SBO xbk Analyzer" version 1.0.9 and above. You'll get a message like this: Error in XIF file: Mismatching program ID (SBO: 90001347000604A0 - XIF: 90:00:13:47:00:06:04:3C) This means that Building Operation has a device template with PID 90:00:13:47:00:06:04:A0 but that the actual file this device template points to is 90:00:13:47:00:06:04:3C Resolution A hotfix has been produced to allow replacing the wrong XIF with the correct one. With the following procedure you can manually fix the issue if you don't have the hotfix: Firstly ensure you have run the Pre-Lonworks upgrade configuration and try the upgrade again. Check if the template is in use by searching the specific template while logged in directly to the server Once the device has been identified, proceed with the following steps: Record Neuron ID(s) - this is required since the Export Process does not retain this information. Export device(s) If you have multiple devices you can Export the folder containing these devices, it is not critical to export the devices individually. Delete device(s) remembering to keep references. Import latest XIF for device From WorkStation select: File > LonWorks > Device Template Browse in the correct XIF. Import exported device(s) in step 2 Commission device(s) Run the Pre-Lonworks upgrade configuration The database should now successfully upgrade.

Vista 5 full SQL database issue

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue TAC Vista stopped trending or cannot read trend value. SQL reaches 4GB or 10GB limitation (depending on version, Vista 5.0.1 - Vista 5.1.6 supports up to 4 GB and Vista 5.1.7 and newer support up to 10 GB) $queues folder keep growing Product Line TAC Vista Environment TAC Vista 5 Logging errors SQL data Log full, shrink Cause The SQL 2005 Express version that come with Vista 5.0.1-5.1.6 has a 4GB limitation and the SQL 2008 Express version that comes with Vista 5.1.7 and newer has a 10GB limit. Once the SQL database reaches this limitation, Vista will not be able to read/write data from/into the SQL database. To fix this issue, the SQL database needs to be purged and a new SQL database needs to be created, or the SQL server needs to be upgraded. Once the SQL database is full, log data will be stored in the $queues folder wanting to be written into the SQL database. If the $queues folder gets too big that even creating a new SQL database with the same size limitations will not allow the Vista Server to run then data in the $queues folder will need to be removed or an upgrade to a version of SQL with larger size limits will need to be performed. Resolution Note: In deciding which resolution below will be most appropriate, consideration should be given to how quickly the SQL database is growing and how long it took to fill up initially. When the SQL database fills up it is a perfect time to carefully look at the various trends and alarms that consume space in the database and consider what if anything might reasonably be removed. Also, note Vista 5.1.7 and newer include SQL Express 2008 which has a 10 GB storage limit. This is 2.5 times greater than the SQL Express 2005 version that was included with earlier versions of Vista 5 and is a free upgrade from any Vista 5.1.X versions.   Please find the scenario that matches your issue and read the resolution section accordingly.   Scenario A Scenario B Scenario C Scenario D Data in "$queues" folder Not needed Needed Not needed Needed Data in SQL Db Not needed Not needed Needed Needed NOTE:  Administrator rights on the computer and to the SQL database is required in all scenarios in order to resolve this issue. In order to prevent the same issue occurring again, a log backup should be performed regularly.  Refer to Performing database maintenance with Vista 4.5.0 for additional information. Additionally, consideration should be given to whether an upgrade to full version of SQL should be installed to best suit the needs of the system.   Scenario A: Data in the $queues folder and SQL database are not needed. In this scenario, empty the $queues folder and create a new SQL database is the resolution. Please follow the steps below: Empty $queues folder Go to database folder. Its path can also be found in TAC Vista Server Setup (start->all programs/Schneider Electric/TAC Vista Server5.X.X. For TAC Vista 5.1.3 and prior, go to start->all programs/TAC/TAC Vista Server5.X.X instead).  Under “Vista Database” tab, the path is listed in the “Database folder path” textbox.   Delete everything in the $queues/insertevents folder (NOTE: don’t delete the folder). Delete everything in the $queues/insertlogvalues folder (NOTE: don’t delete the folder).   Delete taclogdata. Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data (default path). Delete “taclogdata.mdf” (default name, or go to Vista Server Setup and find the SQL name under SQL Server tab, Log database name). Delete “taclogdata_log.LDF “ (default name,  or go to Vista Server Setup and find the SQL name under SQL Server tab, Log database name).   Open “Server Setup” (start->all programs/Schneider Electric/TAC Vista Server5.1.X. For TAC Vista 5.1.3 and prior, go to start->all programs/TAC/TAC Vista Server5.X.X instead) and select “SQL Server” tab. Under “SQL configuration”, choose “Custom”.   Under “Custom connect using”, make a new name to “Log database name” (example:  change “taclogdata” to “taclogdata2”). NOTE: DO NOT change the user name and password.   Click Apply Click “OK” for “TAC Vista integrated SQL backup/restore function will not be available in custom configuration”.   Click yes at the prompt that says “No log database was found on SQL Server. Create and configure a log database?"   Click OK. Issue should be resolved at this point.   Scenario B: Data in the $queues folder is needed, but SQL database is not needed. If $queues folder is too big, need to upgrade to a full version of SQL database in this scenario.  $queues folder can be found inside the Vista database folder (refer to Scenario A step 1 for how to find the $queue folder). If $queues folder’s size is not too big do the following: Leave everything in the $queues folder. Data will be written into SQL database automatically after a new SQL database is established. NOTE: depends on the size of the $queues folder, it may take hours to transfer all data from the $queues folder into the SQL database.   Follow Scenario A steps 2-3 to purge the SQL database and create a new one. Issue should be resolved at this point.   Scenario C: Data in the $queues folder is not needed, but SQL database is needed. If the SQL database is needed, it can be removed from the Microsoft SQL Express folder and stored somewhere else. However, an upgraded version of SQL server is needed in order to view the old SQL database.  If the Vista version is <5.1.7Please follow the steps below: Follow Scenario A step 1 to empty the $queues folder.   Move taclogdata Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data (default path). Move “taclogdata.mdf” out of the folder to somewhere else (for example: Desktop). NOTE: taclogdata is the default name, or go to Vista Server Setup and find the SQL name under SQL Server tab, Log database name. Move “taclogdata_log.LDF “out of the folder to somewhere else (for example: Desktop). NOTE: taclogdata is the default name, or go to Vista Server Setup and find the SQL name under SQL Server tab, Log database name.   Follow Scenario A step 3 to create a new SQL database. Issue should be solved at this point.   Scenario 😧 Data in the $queues folder and SQL database are both needed. If the SQL database is needed, it can be removed from the Microsoft SQL Express folder and stored somewhere else. However, an upgraded version of SQL server is needed in order to view the old SQL database. Versions of Vista between 5.0.1 and 5.1.6 (which include SQL Express 2005) can be upgraded to Vista 5.1.7 or newer (which use SQL Express 2008).  This will upgrade from a 4 GB database size limit to a 10 GB limit and is a free upgrade for and version of Vista 5.1. (Note that it is a paid upgrade from Vista 5.0.X.) In scenarios where SQL Express 2008 is already being used and is full or where 10 GB will not be an adequate upgrade for SQL Express 2005 then a full version of SQL Server will need to be purchased and installed. If $queues folder is too large, it will be necessary to upgrade to a full version of SQL server in this scenario.  $queues folder can be found inside the Vista database folder (refer to Scenario A step 1 for how to find the $queue folder). If $queues folder’s size is not too big do the following: Leave everything in the $queues folder. Data will be written into SQL database automatically after a new SQL database is established. NOTE: Depending on the size of the $queues folder, it may take hours to transfer all data from the $queues folder into the SQL database.   Follow Scenario A steps 2-3 to purge the SQL database and create a new one. Issue should be resolved at this point.

How to Troubleshoot on DBCreate

Issue After installed I/NET, DBCreate will never pop up to create a new database, which will cause I/NET never launches. Backup and Restore button are greyed out when opening DBCreate, which also will cause I/NET fails to launch. When restoring database, an error will show up, saying that version is incompatible with this server. When restoring the database, an access deny error will show up. Unable to create a backup of an I/NET Seven Database using DBCreate, gets a backup failed error. When restoring I/NET database backup from another server in DBcreate, it shows an error: Error dropping PRIMARY KEY 'PK_DvrServers': Could not allocate space for object 'sys.sysserefs'.'clust' in database 'InetDb' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation, TAC INET Environment I/NET Cause SQL default instance is not created correctly. SQL2005 BCM is not installed correctly if SQL2008 is used, or there is a database version mismatch for I/NET. This is usually caused by restoring new SQL database to old version or under different kind of Operation Systems (like restoring a 64 bit database to a 32bit SQL server). Windows permissions are not enough to do the restoring Functionality of the host pc and the database seems to be inconsistent. If the database size limit is reached, I/NET database will fail to update. The backup of the database will be fine, but when trying to restore onto another computer, it will also fail. Resolution If you are using I/NET 2.4x, and already have a named SQL instance on the computer (for example, TAC Vista 5.1.7 or higher has been installed, with a named instance installed called TACVista), I/NET may fail to recognize it, while also fail to create a default instance. Similar kind of warning will pop up during the I/NET installation: Under this condition, use your current SQL server installer or browse to /SQLExpress folder of I/NET installation CD, to manually create a new default instance. You can refer to the guide within the /SQLExpress folder about how to create it. As long as the default instance is created, DBCreate will pop up immediately and a new database can be created. If 64 bit Operation System is used, refer to Installing I/NET Seven on a 64-bit operating system for the detailed guide. Also refer to Installation guidelines for installing I/NET and Vista on the same PC for more details about installing I/NET and TAC Vista on one computer. If SQL 2008 or SQL 2008 R2 is used, be sure to follow the correct steps about how to install them: I/NET Seven with SQL 2008: I/NET Seven with SQL 2008 Installing I/NET Seven on a 64-bit operating system: Installing I/NET Seven 2.42 or higher on a 64-bit operating system If SQL 2008 is installed correctly, please refer to Data Base maintenance before performing an upgradeto perform a forced upgrade for the database. Refer to Incompatible SQL Server Version error when Restoring I/NET Database in DBCreate: Incompatible SQL Server Version error when Restoring I/NET Database in DBCreate Refer to DBCreate backup access denied using Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard and Microsoft SQL 2008 R2: DBCreate backup access denied using Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard & Microsoft SQL 2008 R2. Refer to Unable to Create a backup in DBCreate: Unable to Create a backup in DBCreate. Refer to Fail to Restore the Backup from I/NET with SQL Database Size Limit is Reached: Fail to Restore the Backup from I/NET with SQL Database Size Limit is Reached.

Recommended locations for Temperature Sensors, Valves, and Actuators

Issue Temperature Sensor Location Valve Location Actuator Location Product Line Field Devices Environment Actuator Sensor Valve Cause Where to fit and locate field devices. Resolution Valves: If the valve is lift and lay type and the application is diverting, then the valve must be fitted in the return. If the valve is lift and lay type and the application is mixing, then the valve must be fitted in the flow. The rule of thumb for lift and lay valves is "2 ins and 1 out" Rotary (shoe) valves can be fitted in either the flow or return for either mixing or diverting applications. Use pipe unions, so that the valve can easily be removed. Actuators on Valves: If the heating medium is steam then the actuator/valve arrangement is not fitted vertically, tilt the valve/actuator to an angle so that heat can convect away vertically and the actuator is not subjected to as much heat. In all cases, do not fit the actuator/valve arrangement so that the actuator is vertically under the valve. If the valve leaks, it will damage the actuator. Temperature Sensor location, in both wet and air applications the sensor need to sense correctly the medium it is in. Where possible install in a location for easier maintenance e.g. at a height reachable from a fixed floor level. Pipe Temperature Sensors: The tip of the sensor needs to be in the core of the medium i.e. the centre. The sensor needs to be fitted where stratification does not take place or is reduced. This can be achieved by fitting after a pump or after a bend where turbulence provides a good mix. If the sensor is fitted on a bend, then the probe faces the flow of/oncoming water. In CHW applications, fit the pocket just off horizontal, so that any condensation forming in the pocket can drain away. Adequate insulation will prevent condensation forming in the pocket. If fitting vertically in the top of the pipe is unavoidable see Oil for the DWT0001 (or STP660) pocket sensor to prevent problems with condensation. Duct Temperature Sensor: Supply Air - If a probe type sensor is fitted, it needs to be ideally 3 meters downstream and in the centre of the duct from the supply fan and preferably after a bend fitted with turning vanes. Return Air - The temperature sensor needs to be fitted before/upstream of the extract fan. Frost Coils - Temperature sensor, due to the short distance available, probe sensors are difficult to locate, but try to be as far away from the coil e.g. on the other side of the pre-filter bank and in the centre of the duct/AHU. Even better is to use an averaging type temperature sensor. Frost Coils - Fan Hold Off thermostat. Allow sufficient capillary to cover the battery surface. Lace the capillary across the frost battery on the downstream side using the correct clips. If the thermostat body needs to be fitted on the external side of the AHU, then fit with the minimum of capillary on the external of the AHU. Use a grommet or stuffing gland to protect the capillary as it goes through the AHU skin. If the AHU is fitted outside or is in an unheated space then the thermostat needs to fitted internal to the AHU. Do not cut the capillary if it is too long. Tidy capillary ends so they do not flap in the airstream. Outside Temperature Sensor: Outside temperature sensors should be located correctly to the local region you are in and the application they are serving i.e. compensated outside sensor in the UK are fitted on a wall facing north. The sensor should not be fitted on flues, chimneys, near opening windows. They should not be fitted near to compounds containing plant expelling heat e.g. chiller compounds. The sensor should be fitted at a height that does not require the use of steps or ladders for maintenance. Room Temperature Sensor: Sensors should be fitted at an agreed height and not fitted on external walls, near opening windows and doors or above radiators. They need to be exposed to the area they are controlling and not be directly influenced by heat sources e.g. computers. Sensors with exposed setpoint adjust or controls need to be fitted at a lower height so that people with disabilities can adjust them. Sensors that are fitted onto partitioned walls or have a conduit need the hole plugging so that there are no draughts. Sensors that are fitted directly to concrete or steel beams should be packed out with a thermal insulating material. Valves and Sensor Wiring: Allow sufficient cable to allow removal of actuator or sensor without having to disconnect the device. See the full Building Controls Group - Control Sensor Installation guide.

Communications troubleshooting in SmartStruxure

Issue The built in logs for troubleshooting communications from SmartStruxure ES/AS to SmartStruxure ES/AS remove the need for network captures for SmartStruxure communications. However, SmartStruxure to BACnet continues to be ideal for traditional means of network captures. The most common capture method is Wireshark when dealing with BACnet device to BACnet device communication. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SmartStruxure BACnet ES AS Cause The need to troubleshoot communications issues from device to device whether this is ES to AS or vice versa. The need to troubleshoot BACnet communications Resolution Network captures are beneficial in troubleshooting the following cases: Connection issues between SmartStruxure client and AS/ES. If customers complain their client cannot connect to an AS/ES, a capture run from the client PC can be very useful. However, SmartStruxure uses TCP/HTTP and the payload is not easy to decode. There are no Wireshark decoders to help out, but the good news is that there is in communication logging built in to SmartStruxure that can replace the need for network captures. (See Error logs from the Enterprise Server for ES and see Error logs from an Automation Server and Enterprise Server for AS) Communication Status problems between servers and controllers (for example BACnet controllers). The location of where the captures is taken can be very important. The best place to capture is at a switch directly connected to the controller. This may be difficult because it will require putting a “dumb” hub between the switch and the controller or finding a port mirroring switch. When you are not receiving BACnet alarms when expected. When you are not receiving COV notifications when expected When a trendlog is trending external point To evaluate the health of a network. ARP broadcast traffic can flood networks and can create connectivity problems on BACnet/IP networks. If this is the case then a customer can take action by segmenting their BMS to a VLAN. Performance problems on graphics where a large number of the point displayed are BACnet MS/TP bus performance is poor or MS/TP device is offline Using a USB RS-485 adapter can permit the capture of packets on an MS/TP bus. Wireshark can then be used to decode the packet captures. This can show token passing problems as well as traffic loads. Also check out the BACnet-Capturing MS/TP Traffic Quick-Help video on the Exchange.

"There is a problem with this website's security certificate." when logging in to Xenta web server using Internet Explorer 8

Issue When logging into Xenta server using Internet Explorer 8 a certificate error is displayed as displayed below: When logging into the web server of a Xenta controller using Internet Explorer 8 an error message is shown stating that there is a problem with the website's security certificate. The error reads: There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website. Click here to close this webpage. Continue to this website (not recommended). More information How to install a self signed certificate. Product Line Satchwell MicroNet, TAC INET, TAC Vista Environment Internet Explorer 8 Xenta 511, Xenta 527, Xenta 555, Xenta 701, Xenta 711, Xenta 721, Xenta 731, Xenta 913 SSL Cause The default certificate in the Xenta web server is a self-signed certificate. Since the certificate is not issued by a recognized Certificate Authority the web browser (in this case Internet Explorer 😎 cannot validate the authenticity of the certificate and suggests that the user not continue to the website each time the user tries to access it. Resolution Click "Continue to Website" to continue to the screen shown below. Click on "Certificate Error" which is found on the right side of the address bar at the top. A dialog similar to the one below will open. Click "View certificates". The certificate dialog will appear. Click "Install Certificate." The Certificate Import Wizard will open. Click Next. Allow Windows to automatically select where to store the certificate. Proceed to Finish the Certificate Import Wizard. A notification appears indicating that the certificate was imported successfully. Restart Internet Explorer for the change to take effect. Note: The certificate will need to be installed in each client computer that accesses the Xenta server but once this complete it does not need to be done again. The exception to this is if the web address of the Xenta server is changed or if Internet Explorer is uninstalled then reinstalled. The alternative is that a certificate issued by a Certificate Authority (CA) may be purchased. These certificates are pre-installed into the web browser and will automatically prevent certificate errors from occurring on all client computers that access the web server. Note that these can be quite expensive and unless the Xenta web server is being hosted on the internet they are not necessary. See "This Connection is Untrusted" certificate error when logging in to a Xenta Server using Firefox for information on installing certificates into Firefox. Update: Starting in September 2014, all major browsers will be disabling 1024-bit roots within their trusted roots stores. Any SSL certificates chained to a 1024-bit root will no longer work on any browsers that takes this action or one that relies on another's root store (the self-signed certificate is 1024-bit). This means that you will still get the security warning even if you have installed the self-signed certificate.

Numeric Input, Numeric Output and Numeric Public, differences

Issue What is the difference between a Numeric Input, Numeric Output and Numeric Public within a script program. Is using a Numeric Public a less efficient choice (as opposed to using a Numeric Input or Numeric Output) that will generate negative overhead in the AS? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Automation Server (AS, AS-P or AS-B) Building Operation Workstation b3 and Infinet controllers Cause Want to determine best practices when choosing numeric types during script programming. Resolution Numeric Input is a read only numeric (from the point of view of the script program) that accepts a binding. Numeric Output is a write only numeric (from the point of view of the script program) that accepts a binding. Numeric Public is both read and write (from the point of view of the script program). Numeric Public also accepts a binding. (A Numeric Public can be bound to both a Graphic and a Value Object to allow overriding of values from a Graphic. See SBO Script Public.zip for an example) When choosing the numeric type in a script program there is no overhead cost difference between using one of these numeric types vs the others. Also check out the Script Programming - Writing the Script Program Quick-Help video on the Exchange. NOTE b3 and Infinet Controller scripts do not support "Numeric Public", but "Numeric Output", in these controller scripts, can be used in a similar way to "Numeric Public" The Bound value is read by the script as well as being written to.

OPC Server for Andover Continuum and TAC I/NET

Issue OPC Server with third party and alternatives Product Line Andover Continuum, TAC INET Environment System requiring third party connectivity Cause OPC Server to communicate between hardware and the iBMS (intelligent Building Management System). Resolution The OPC server is a software program that converts hardware communication protocol into the OPC protocol. The OPC client software is any program that needs to connect to the hardware. The OPC client uses the OPC server to get data from or send commands to the hardware. OPC Client Servers are used to communicate between BACnet IP interfaces and iBMS (intelligent Building Management System) programs such as TAC I/NET or Andover Continuum. There is also no Continuum OPC Client software to use for a direct OPC link. The best way to integrate from 3rd party EIB or OPC protocols is using BACnet IP on Continuum; there are third party interfaces and gateways that will convert to BACnet/IP and others that go from OPC Client/ Server to BACnet/IP. I/NET OPC For I/NET a great solution is to install a Xenta 913 controller which gives the capability to go with Modbus or BACnet/IP to third party solutions. The I/NET to Xenta 913 allows communication with Continuum BCX, StruxureWare AS-B, and other 3rd Party solutions. Continuum OPC Standard 3rd party gateways are established to communicate between the protocols such as BACnet and Modbus. Andover Continuum has an OPC Server available here. The hardware requirements are Windows NT 4.0 or Win2K. If wanting to run on XP or newer operating systems, please be aware that no testing has not been done with these OS. For more info on the OPC and XDriver, please see OPC Server Integration. Only one instance of the OPC server on a computer. Each system would need a separate PC with license key to connect to the individual systems and host controllers. The Andover Controls OPC server must be running a separate 3rd Party OPC client computer and cannot be on the same computer as CyberStation. From there it is configured to retrieve point values from a the suggested dedicated Infinity (CX) Controller. It is suggested to install a OPC gateway Infinity Controller since this controller will constantly be busy with OPC traffic. Therefore it is the separate third party vendor computer which requires the ACC OPC Server security key, not Cyberstation security key. Both USB and parallel port keys are available. If no choice is available for OS, one alternative is to check on 3rd party OPC servers like Kepware and Matrikon. Note: For Continuum, determine which one of your controllers will become the “Primary Controller” The Server requires that you designate one external Andover Controls Infinity or Continuum controller located on the same network as its “Primary Controller.” This controller must have had the network taught to it prior to selection. (This is done through the “Teach” function in the workstation.) The Server gets its information about the network through this controller. This suggested single controller is designated as the interface through which all point access is obtained. Controller Type Select the type of network where the controller is located. For a NetController, b4920, CX9702 or upgraded Infinity controllers that can be connected to a Continuum network you would select “Continuum”. For older Infinity controllers, select Infinity. Works with any IP level controller. There is no limit on the quantity, but rather it depends on how you tune.

SQL Express install fails on MSXML 6

Issue Check Windows Add/Remove programs and see if MSXML 6 SP2 is installed.  Installation of MSXML 6 Service Pack 2 (KB954459) failed because a higher version already exists on the machine. To proceed, uninstall the higher version and then run MSXML 6 Service Pack 2 (KB954459) Setup again. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment XP SP3 SQL Express 2005 XML Cause When SQL Server Setup tries to install MSXML 6.0 SP2, it detects that the version of MSXML 6.0 that is described in Knowledge Base article 954459 is already installed on the computer. Therefore, the validation process indicates that the current version of MSXML 6.0 should not be replaced. This stops the installation of both MSXML 6.0 and SQL Server 2005. Resolution See Microsoft's Support KB article for more information. MS offers a work around to this issue in their KB article as follows: Download MSMXL fix from the following Microsoft website: http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/3/F/E3F51FFB-505D-480E-9F67-0DD3A9680DEE/MSXMLFix.EXE Extract the fix, and then copy the MSXML6.MSP file and the MSXML_FIX.VBS file to the same folder. Run cscript MSXML_FIX.VBS. Once the fix is run, try installing SQL Express again. For alternative solutions see Failed to create or configure database on SQL Server! ([17] SQL Server does not exist or access denied.) and Error when installing SQL 2005 Express on a machine that had previously had MSDE installed

Xenta Programmable Device is Offline in Vista but Online in LonMaker

Issue Xenta Programmable Device is Offline in Vista, but Online in LonMaker. For LonWorks Devices refer to LonWorks Device is Offline in Vista but Online in LonMaker or NL220. Product Line TAC Vista Environment LonMaker, NL220 Vista Workstation Xenta programmable controllers Xenta 280, 281, 282, 283, 300, 301, 302, 401, 401:B Cause In an LNS system, Xenta programmable controllers have different methods of communication to the LNS server and the Vista server.  Communication with the LNS server indicates the wiring is connected, the neuron ID is set correctly, but does not guarantee communication with the Vista server.  An online condition for Vista is dependent on Xenta Group bindings and network description files in the device and the Xenta Group Master being online. Resolution Ensure that Vista Workstation is in Operating Mode vs. Engineering Mode. Refresh the Folders View - Highlight the root directory "TAC Vista" press "F5" or click the refresh icon. Ensure the device is physically Online in LonMaker even though the drawing displays as green. Check the status by right clicking on the device, select Properties. Commission Status should say "Current", and State should say "Online". Alternatively, right click on the device and select Manage / Test.  The state should read "configured online" if the device is online in LonMaker. Make sure that your Master Device in the corresponding Xenta Group in the System Plug-in is online. If the Master Device is online and displaying values, it is always necessary to download the application and parameters to the Xenta group after adding a new device. The entire Xenta Group must know there is a new device for proper communication to occur.  Download the applications and parameters to the entire group in the TAC System Plug-In. If all the above is true and there is still no data then use Verifying Xenta Group Bindings in an LNS system to verify that the Xenta Group Bindings are correct. If not, in the Vista system plug-in, click on the LNS Network tab choose Create Group Bindings and click Yes on the Resynchronize drawing to database (Fix-up Drawing). Ensure the Xenta Group name is less than 20 characters without any spaces. Note: Channel names can contain spaces (NL220) but still must stay under the 20 character limit.

Licensing of I/NET with SITE and SEAT License with License Key

Issue Can the current revision of I/NET Seven Software CD key be used to install older revisions of I/NET Seven Software.  Site has a revision of I/NET installed older than the current release version and additional Site or Seat License is required for the site. Upgrade or revision changes. Product Line TAC INET Environment TAC I/NET Seven Cause Additional License Seats requested by site\customer. Resolution Only current revisions of I/NET seats are available for purchase. Current revision of I/NET Seven Software CD keys are backward compatible within the same major revision release (i.e. 2.40 CD keys are compatible with any 2.XX revision.) Every computer which has I/NET installed must have a I/NET CD regardless if the site is HVAC, Security or both. At a site which has a StandAlone with I/NET, it must have a Site License. If I make that a FileMaster and add one Equalized Client, a SEAT license must be purchased for that Equalized Client. If I add another Equalized Client(s) or perhaps Remote Client(s) additional SEAT licenses must be purchased for those.  The license key is registered to the site, see I/NET CD Key and software revision for more information. When looked up, it reveals how many licenses (Site or Seat) have been purchased for that site. After the initial purchase, any I/NET PC upgrade uses Part Number INETSEVEN24U If upgrading Site computer use Part Number INETSEVEN24U If upgrading File Master use Part Number INETSEVEN24U If upgrading Equalized Client computer use Part Number INETSEVEN24U If upgrading Remote Client computer use Part Number INETSEVEN24U If there is a separate database for a site, let's say they open a new building with INET install with a different db, then an additional Site license is required which would be a new license key. For the latest version information check Software and Firmware compatibility matrix for older versions of the traditional product lines   Upgrade orders can be placed using the following part number: P/N: INETSEVEN24U TAC I/NET Seven Software CD TAC I/NET Seven Getting Started - TCON298 Software License Agreements TAC I/NET Seven Software Box New software orders can be placed using the following part numbers: SEVENMAXR - HVAC & Security site license, w/ CD SEVENHVACR - HVAC only site license, w/ CD SEVENSECR - Security only site license, w/ CD SEVENADDHVAC - Add HVAC, site license only SEVENADDSEC - Add Security, site license only SEVENSEATR - HVAC & Security license for 1 workstation, w/ CD, site license required SEVENSEAT3 - HVAC & Security license for 3 workstations, w/ 3 CDs, site license required SEVENSEAT5 - HVAC & Security license for 5 workstations, w/ 5 CDs, site license required SEVENMANUAL - Manual set, 3 volumes. No CD   Example: The site is currently at I/NET Seven Software Revision 2.14 and requires the purchase of additional seat licenses. The newly purchased seat licenses are the current I/NET Seven Software Revision 2.47. Two options available: 1) Use the newly purchased I/NET Seven Software revision 2.47 seat licenses to install the I/NET Seven Software revision 2.14. Upgrade the sites original licenses from I/NET Seven Software revision 2.14 to 2.47 Older revision I/NET Seven Software can be obtained from either the original CD Media or can be downloaded from EcoBuilding Download Center. Example 2: A site has an existing Host File Master, and Five(5) SEAT licenses(Equalized Client or Remote Client). To upgrade, they would purchase six(6) INETSEVEN24U part numbers which is for each of those workstations. To add an additional I/NET workstation, they would purchase a SEVENSEAT, which is the additional SEAT license.
