Exporting/Importing Configuration Profiles

Issue Exporting/Importing Configuration Profiles and need to copy CCTV configuration from one machine to another. Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Seven Cause When Configuration Profiles are created on one PC and the user wants to copy it onto another PC, there is no easy way to do this even through the SQL database. To accomplish this the user would have to first, Export and then Import the configuration files from the registry. Likewise when setting up a second standalone machine to use the same CCTV interface or similar Host masking settings can take some time. This process will allow you to transfer everything configured under the profile setting to a new machine. Resolution The following step describes how to do this: Caution • Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on your computer. • To open Registry Editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. • You can use a text editor like Notepad to work with the registry files you create by exporting. • You can save registry files in the Windows format, or as text files. Registry files are saved with .reg extensions, and text files are saved with .txt extensions. • In Windows Explorer, double-clicking a file with the .reg extension imports the file into the computer's registry. To import a registry hive just double click it from Windows Explorer. Open the Registry Editor On the File menu, click Export. In File name, enter a name for the registry file. Under Export range, do one of the following: To back up the entire registry, click All. To back up only a particular branch of the registry tree, click Selected branch and enter the name of the branch you want to export. Click Save. HOST MASK information To share host mask configurations between PCs, browse to C:\I/NET SEVEN DATA and copy the .dat files relevant to the configuration profile

Host Computer running Windows Virtual Machine (VM) and not able to see the Xenta 527-NPR

Issue Host Computer running Windows Virtual Machine (VM) and not able to see the Xenta 527-NPR Environment Windows XP running Virtual Machine with I/NET running on the Virtual Machine.   Cause When running Virtual Machine mode, your network via TCP/IP is not able to see the Xenta 527 NPR because of the Default NAT setting needing to be changed to Bridged.   Resolution When setting up Windows Virtual Machine the default setup is "NAT" but needs to be changed to "Bridged" Bridged mode lets the virtual machine share the host's Ethernet connection, while appearing as a separate machine with its own MAC and TCP/IP address. NAT mode nats through the hosts NIC, much like the 192.168.1.x machines nat through your router to the internet. The VMware server assigns DHCP addresses to the virtual network cards, and the NAT system takes it from there through the real NIC.

Changing from Analog dial-up communication to VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)

Issue An upgrade site that has gone from a 7798b with dialup capability attached via modem to see the I/NET Seven C-Lan network has gone to VoIP phone communication. This changes the dialup communication. How to make this communication work? Environment I/NET Seven communicating with remote dial-up to a 7798b control board using USRobotics modem and analog phone line Cause Changing company structure to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) rather than analog dial-up communications Resolution The Xenta 527 web based router will need to be in place to replace the dialup connection. Add a CLX card to the 7798b so it will work communicating to the 527 web based router (Note: the 7798C has this capability soldered onto the board and is not necessary). XBuilder will be required to set up graphic pages and email alerting if outbound communication from the network is needed.

Incorrect or missing I/NET Host Tool license

Issue "Incorrect or missing I/Net Host Tool license." error occurs when I/NET Host Tool is launched via Vista > Tools > I/NET Host Tool. Product Line TAC INET, TAC Vista Environment I/NET Host Tool Cause "Incorrect or missing I/NET Host Tool license" error will occur if there is a full version of I/NET installed with its own license key. Running the full version of I/NET and launching I/NET Host Tool via Vista, will attempt to open a new instance of I/NET. The system will throw the error message because there is already an open instance with a license that is not the I/NET integrated license. I/Net (2.4X) runs as a service and will also create this condition if a second instance is launched. Stopping the service will allow I/Net to open without error. When using XBuilder to refresh the I/NET network. In XBuilder, upon a refresh, an instance of I/NET Host Tool is launched. If there is a current open I/Net instance, the error is thrown. Resolution This will not affect the network in any way since I/NET Host Tool and the full version use the same I/O Server. To avoid this message, shut down I/NET and I/O Server and start it again via Vista > Tools > I/NET Host Tool.

Error importing I/NET sav file to XBuilder

Issue Error importing I/NET sav file to XBuilder Environment XBuilder I/NET sav file import Cause There's a problem in how the DcuXml.exe and XBuilder handles the import of sav files. If the "home" folder of the Windows user you are logged in with has a ".", XBuilder will import the sav file to the I/NET folder alright, but will actually look for the sav file in the Files folder, so one folder back. Eg. Domain user: br Location of the copied sav file: C:\Documents and Settings\br\Local Settings\Temp\XBuilderPrj\PROJECTNAME\Files\INET (For Win7 & Win Server 2008, it should be C:\Users\br\AppData\Local\Temp\XBuilderPrj\PROJECTNAME\Files\INET. You need to turn on the Show hidden File option in Folder and search options under the Organize menu ) Where XBuilder looks for the sav file: C:\Documents and Settings\br\Local Settings\Temp\XBuilderPrj\PROJECTNAME\Files\INET (For Win7 & Win Server 2008, it should be C:\Users\br\AppData\Local\Temp\XBuilderPrj\PROJECTNAME\Files\INET) Local user: br Location of the copied sav file: C:\Documents and Settings\br.WSDKHER9562\Local Settings\Temp\XBuilderPrj\PROJECTNAME\Files\INET (For Win7 & Win Server 2008, it should be C:\Users\br.WSDKHER9562\AppData\Local\Temp\XBuilderPrj\PROJECTNAME\Files\INET) Where XBuilder looks for the sav file: C:\Documents and Settings\br.WSDKHER9562\Local Settings\Temp\XBuilderPrj\PROJECTNAME\Files (For Win7 & Win Server 2008, it should be C:\Users\br.WSDKHER9562\AppData\Local\Temp\XBuilderPrj\PROJECTNAME\Files) Resolution XBuilder will generate an error, and the import.xml will be locked by the DcuXml.exe process, so you manually have to stop that. What you have to do is manually copy the sav file to the PROJECTNAME\Files directory before you import the I/NET network.

After updating bin file to an SCU, Deny Entry Tenant message in AMT or access denied.

Issue Problem with downloading bin file with more than one door defined causes second set of doors to deny reads. Bin files connected to this issue are 3.24, 3.25, 3.26 Environment TAC I/Net Seven using Access Control. SCU 1284 configured with two doors. (Dip Switch 6 ON gives double address)  Cause Bin file failure to download with double address setting. Resolution On an SCU, an SCU is configured for 4 doors. 2 of those doors are working. 2 of the doors on the SCU are not working. Only thing that has changed is the SCU was downloaded with a new bin file. Nothing in door configuration was changed, no dip switches were altered. Solution: Find out which doors were not working, (probably the second two doors like 0104) Go to Edit/controller/MCU Configuration and Set those doors to Internal, and then download the SCU with the bin file again. Go to Edit/controller/MCU Configuration and Set the doors back to DPU.

Memory Queue Overflow or Memory Overflow message from Controller

Issue Error message from I/Net Seven controller such as a 7790 in AMT which is "Memory Queue Overflow" or "Memory Overflow." Environment TAC I/NET Seven either direct connect to controller (such as a 7790) or Ethernet connection to a NPR (such as a Xenta 527) Cause Memory overload or bottle neck caused by excessive number of messages through the network. Resolution Memory Queue Overflow or Memory Overflow messages seen in the AMT (Alarms Messages Transactions) window is often caused by an excessive number of messages being requested to transfer through the network device. When you look in AMT you should check to see if the message comes from the Controller (such as a 7790) or from the NPR (such as a Xenta 527).    Throttling back the number of messages by reducing trending data, alarms, transactions, samples, or other information flow will reduce they data and free up some bandwidth.  How many controllers are connected to the NPR? Perhaps you can break this number into smaller allotments and reduce the traffic on the C-LAN which reduces the bandwidth required through the NPR.

I/NET door masking

Issue Why do you need to mask the events in both door editor and the point itself (08, 09)? Environment I/NET Seven Cause Door masking is required in both the door editor and the point itself. Resolution Think about door masking as layers. When you create a door, you need to create a point/relay for the door. This relay changes state (0,1), this is the hardware layer, Layer one. In order for AMT to get a event that the point have changed state it needs to ask the controller of the status. This is done by a quick poll command issued by the SLI. In order to make this point to behave like a door we need to add some feature to it, a second layer. This layer is not hardware dependent but it speaks to the hardware. Here you can add some additional event or in this case alarm as "forced door". This alarm will be distributed to the event handler of the point so next quick pull will catch this information and it will be sent to AMT. So in order to get alarms and transaction from the door specific attributes both the point/relay (So the quick pull can get its information) and the second layer door needs to be masked. So the information will become correct its also important that the points and door masking priority are the same.
