Field Devices - What is the replacement for the Drayton Autotherm?

Issue What is the replacement for the Drayton Autotherm? Environment Drayton Autotherm Cause The Drayton TA/L1 actuator is obsolete, and no like for like actuators are available, this makes the Autotherm controller unusable. Resolution The TA/L1 actuator provides positional feedback to the Autotherm controller, and actuators providing feedback are very few, and providing the correct feedback is not possible. The Autotherm controller provides considerable functionality, and in our current  ranges of controllers, these cannot be matched. To upload the Autotherm data sheet, please click HERE.     The most appropriate replacement controller is CSC5352. This device will provide a compensated heating system with a timed start, the output relay can be used to enable the hot water system. Please click HERE to upload the data sheet. If separate time periods are required for the heating system and how water system, then the DC1100/1400 should be considered. Please click HERE to upload the data sheet. Please note that in both of the above options, new sensors will be required and possibly actuators too.

Sigma - Upgrading existing 4.05 / 4.05 SEB sites to Sigma 4.06.

Issue Upgrading 4.05 sites to Sigma 4.06 Environment Upgrade 4.05 SEB Cause Overview on upgrading Sigma 4.05 versions to Sigma 4.06 Resolution General Overview of the upgrade process. This overview is for background information only; ensure that, when upgrading, the instructions in sections 6.2.4 to 6.2.8 of the release note are followed. This release provides upgrade utilities which, when run, detect the release at which configuration data was created and selectively convert it as required. The main utilities are: SgiConvert: Converts .SGI graphics and associated files to the original version of the .SWC format. SigUpgrade: Converts all data (including graphical and tolerances) to the current release format. It must be run after graphics have converted from early .DRW (BAS) and .SGI (earlier Sigma) formats. It examines Also available is the Graphics Optimisation Tool which converts BMP files to JPG files and amends file name references in associated graphics. This tool should only be used in specific circumstances. See section 4.4.3. Revised Web Optimisation Tool for details. In addition any old BAS Graphics can be imported using a DrwSwcCnvrt utility. During the upgrade it is necessary to shutdown all clients of the server. The point at which this is done must be chosen to suit site circumstances and to minimise downtime. When Releases 4.00 and later is uninstalled, all data files are left intact (unlike earlier releases). The Standard Client software release and the Web ActiveX Client software release must both match the release of the server software. Do not allow clients and servers at different releases to attempt connection during the upgrade process. This applies for both Standard Clients and Web ActiveX Clients. If Remote Alarm Manager is used to read alarm data from Sigma, Remote Alarm Manager 2.0 must be used.

How to set a GCM or LCM back to factory-default settings.

Issue How to clear all block programming and set the device EEPROM back to factory-default condition. Environment Network 8000 GCM, LCM, LNC or SIM controller including all 84xxx series, 85xxx series or 86xxx series devices. Cause It is sometimes necessary to manually clear the controller EEPROM. Resolution Clear the controller's EEPROM. This is accomplished by pushing the reset button and the EE CLR button and holding both for at least 20 seconds before releasing. The reset process is complete when the top two red LEDs on the right edge of the controller begin blinking in their normal sequence (second LED blinks twice as fast as top LED). This process will clear the user programmable memory (including all block programming), returning the controller to its original factory condition. The procedure above is excerpted from Technical Bulletin 99-27 , steps 1 and 2.

StruxureWare Building Operation uses the old PI-Modbus-300 protocol

Issue StruxureWare Building Operation uses the old PI-Modbus-300 protocol Environment StruxureWare Building Operation using Modbus protocol Cause Does StruxureWare Building Operation use the MODICON protocol with the reference PI-MBus-300? Resolution Modicon was purchased by Groupe Schneider (which eventually became Schneider Electric) in 1996, way before Schneider Electric bought TAC. The PI that referred to is just a prefix of the technical document describing the Modbus communication protocol. The 300 is the version of the protocol. StruxureWare Building Operation supports a subset of the Modbus protocol. StruxureWare Building Operation does not support all Functions defined by the document specified. Modicon is still the only one that does.
