Micronet LON (MNL) controller digital output (DO) turns off when the LON communications to the UNC / ENC fails

Issue Micronet LON (MNL) controller digital output turns off when the LON communications to the UNC / ENC fails. Programming a MNL controller so that the digital output will not turn off when the LON communications fail. Environment I/A Series R2 / G3 LonWorks integration I/A Series Micronet LON (MNL) controllers Cause LON input SNVT is used in the MNL controllers to bind to a command in an UNC / ENC. When the LON communications between the UNC / ENC and MNL fails, the SNVT in the MNL controller will default to the value 'NA'. The digital output (Binary Output object in WorkPlace Tech) turns off because it has received a 'NA' value. Resolution The programming logic in WorkPlace Tech for the MNL controller needs to have this factored in so that the digital output will not turn off when the LON communications fail. You can view an example of one such logic here. This has been created for an UNC LON integration to a MNL-800. The last command from the UNC will hold until the LON communications recover.

Using either Card or KeyPAD PIN to gain access through door

Notice NOTICE COMPLEX PROCEDURE REQUIRED. The resolution of this article has many complex steps that may result in unforeseen results if not performed correctly. If you are at all unfamiliar with the requirements, please contact Product Support for assistance. Issue Want to access door with 'Card only' or 'PIN only' not both of them.   Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Seven Access Cause I/NET has two door mode schedules, Secure, the default setting, which provides access via card number or Secure with PIN, which requires card entry AND a PIN entry.   In this case it is possible to use either card or PIN to gain access if using specialized readers that support a Wiegand PIN output. Resolution It is possible to achieve this provided the PIN output from your card reader supports one of the supported card types of I/NET (i.e. 26-bit, 32-bit Wiegand etc) you can assign a "card number" (PIN) for each individual. The PIN pad will output the entered PIN in Wiegand format and I/NET will then treat it as a normal card entry. Once the PIN pad / card reader has been configured you simply enter this into the Individual editor as the card number card and it acts exactly the same as swiping a card. What this means is that the Individual can use either their card or PIN to gain access (if entered in this fashion). So provided you have a suitable reader / pin pad (such as the P-640 Patagonia Proximity Reader from Keypad Farpointe Data, Inc (www.farpointedata.com))- here are the steps to configure this to work: In the Door editor set the reader type to Wiegand 26-bit (or other) Configure the PIN Type to 26-bit The Door mode is either left blank (Secure mode) or configured as 'Secure' Configure your Tenant (Refer to note below regarding Large Card number usage) Add your individual; The individual will have to have two card numbers associated to them: The number associated to the card, The number associated with the PIN number - what not to get confused with is that this PIN number is NOT the PIN number associated (or shown) in the Individual editor. Large Card number usage: How to calculate the "card number" if using Large Card Numbers: The following two Excel spreadsheet calculators; 26-bit and 32-bit can be used calculate you the large card number. Enter the details (Facility Code / Card number) and the calculator produces the large card number in both decimal and hexadecimal. For example if you use Facility Code 26 and card number 255, the results would be 1704191 (Decimal) and 001A00FF (Hexadecimal). Alternatively I/NET also displays this 'large card' number in the Message column if added to the Transaction window - you can use this also to ensure you have everything wired and configured correctly. How to calculate the "card number" if using the Facility Code / Card number: Once the reader has been programmed with the facility code and this number entered into the Tenant Code of the Tenant editor. The PIN number assigned to the individual then becomes the 'card number’. So for the same example used above, the Facility Code used is 26 and card number 255, the Tenant editor will have the Tenant code configured as 26 and the Individual number (ID) of 255 is used - so no card number is entered into I/NET. This ties the card number to the Individual ID. This is important and the major difference between using large card numbers and facility codes.

Unable to learn on 3rd party device

Issue After receiving the CyberStations Who Is broadcast  via the BCX4040 the third party device responds with an I Am packet.  However, the BCX is not passing the information back to Cyberstation.  Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Cyberstation BACnet Who is I Am 3rd Party Find Bacnet device Learn Cause In the attached mstp capture images, neither of the responses from the Automated Logic device at packets 1713 and 5379 have the necessary information that would cause the bCX or any BACnet router to send the message to another network. 3rd Party device responds with an I Am Looking at the NPDU layer of either message, you’ll notice a destination network (DNET) is not indicated. If you compare these messages with those from the b3 (at packet 1716 or 5382), you’ll see a DNET of 1 indicated, which is why the I-Am’s from the b3 reach Cyber, as Cyber belongs to Network 1. BACnet end devices are expected to dynamically detect the presence of SNET/SADDR information in the NPDU and reply with a message that includes the matching values for the DNET/DADDR. b3 responds with an I Am In the preceding Who-is packets you can see that the network number has been communicated to the third party device Resolution BACnet routers or BACnet Building Controllers do not cache or otherwise correlate requests and responses. BACnet end devices are expected to dynamically detect the presence of SNET/SADDR information in the NPDU and reply with a message that includes the matching values for the DNET/DADDR. The role of the BACnet router is to remove the DNET/DADDR information and add the SNET/SADDR information when they route messages from one network to another.

Is it possible to create a TGML slideshow in TAC Vista Workstation?

Issue Is it possible to create a TGML slideshow in TAC Vista Workstation? Environment TAC Vista 5.1.7 Cause Some customer would like to have a dashboard that cycles through different TGML graphics - perhaps on a large flat-screen TV. Resolution Whilst we don't have this functionality built in to workstation, it is possible to utilise layers in TGML editor to create the effect of a slide show. When creating complex graphics, it can be a challenge to keep track of all the graphic figures in the work area. Graphic figures get hidden under one another and selecting becomes difficult. Layers provide a way to manage the graphic figures that make up your graphic. Layers can be regarded as folders that contain graphic figures. Layers are not supported in static TGML viewer in TAC Vista Webstation or in the TGML Viewer in TAC Xenta 500/700 Series.  Download the example graphic here.

What are the jumpers labeled TERM3 through TERM6 used for on the I/A Series R2 UNC-520 and G3 ENC-520?

Issue What are the jumpers labeled TERM3 through TERM6 used for on the I/A Series R2 UNC-520 and G3 ENC-520? Environment I/A Series R2 UNC-520 I/A Series G3 ENC-520 Cause Hardware communications bus bias resistor pairs. Resolution The UNC-520-2 and ENC-520-2 hardware circuitry includes a set of bias resistors that can be individually enabled as pairs, one set for each of the four RS-485 ports. These jumpers change the default bias resistor set for each RS-485 COM port from a device level bias to a “pull-apart” level bias. These are NOT end-of-line terminators. In most cases, the bias resistors should remain enabled. Reference technical bulletin (TB06-09) for more details.

I/A Series R2 and G3 MIB files

Issue I/A Series R2 and G3 MIB files Environment I/A Series R2 SNMP integration I/A Series G3 SNMP integration Cause A Management Information Base (MIB) describes a database of objects that can be monitored by a network management system. SNMP uses standardized MIB formats that allow any SNMP tool to monitor any device defined by a MIB. The Tridium MIB defines the information that can be exposed for a I/A Series Niagara station running the SnmpService. The third party system is having trouble reading the SNMP traps from I/A Series using the MIB file that was sent to them. Resolution Ensure that the correct MIB file is used. Starting in I/A Series R2 version 2.301.528 and above, a new TridiumR2-MIB was created that is supported by R2 Snmp stations. This was created because of the need to differentiate Tridium MIB object identifiers between R2 and G3. I/A Series G3 versions 3.4 and earlier uses TridiumR3-MIB.my MIB file. To view this file in WorkBench, go to 'File' > 'Open' > 'Open Ord' (or shortcut Ctrl + L) and key in 'local:|module://snmp/tridiumMib/TridiumR3-MIB.my'. Starting from I/A Series G3 versions 3.5 and above, there is a Workbench function (right-click menu on the local SNMP device) to create a MIB. See 'About locally generated MIBs' on page 3-17 to 3-21 of the Niagara Ax 3.5 SNMP Driver Guide.

How does the dynamic updates property work in TGML?

Issue How does the dynamic updates property work in TGML? Product Line TAC Vista Environment TAC Vista 5.1.7 TGML graphics. Cause A graphic can contain numerous bindings to values that you want to be able to display in the graphic. When there are numerous bindings, reading the values can be time-consuming and can slow down the performance of the graphic. By setting the DynamicUpdates attributes in the Bind elements of the graphic to either disabled or enabled, you can control which values are updated (which values the graphic subscribes to) when the graphic is opened. Resolution Created a Bind object in the TGML Graphic Editor Look at the Properties for the object. Under Behavior, the property DynamicUpdates is set to Enable by default. This can be set to Disabled and a Script can be added in an appropriate object which follows the following format: Example - activate a binding by clicking on a button function Click(evt){ button = evt.getTarget(); //Identify the target that has been clicked. parent = button.getParentNode(); //Find the parent node. binding = parent.getChildRecursive(""); //Identify the binding to be activated. binding.setAttribute("DynamicUpdates","Enable"); //Activate the DynamicUpdate property. } A simple example is attached. Click to download DynamicUpdate.zip.
