Issue 'Com Addr' does not appear in list of SE7000 or SER7000 parameters, even when a BACnet or wireless network card is fitted. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment SmartStruxure SmartStruxure Lite Warning Electrostatic Discharge Required: Always discharge static electricity from your person by touching metal prior to handling any hardware. Failure to do so may result in damage to devices. Cause 'Com Addr' only appears in the list of parameters when the controller recognises that a BACnet or wireless adapter card is fitted.  If the parameter does not appear even when a card is fitted, there is a problem with the card, the connector or the controller motherboard.  Resolution Remove the front cover of the controller and check that a BACnet or wireless adapter card of the correct type is fitted (there are several variants - see the table below for details).  The BACnet/wireless card is piggybacked onto the controller motherboard via a plug and socket and two supporting pillars. If a card is fitted, remove it and check for bent pins on the plug, signs of damage to the motherboard or daughter board (e.g. scorching), or dry solder joints on the plug or connector. Cause Windows 7 and above user administrator privilege settings (UAC) Resolution The solution to this issue is to turn off the user admin settings before the software is installed by following these instructions: Go to Start > Control Panel. Set the view to "small icons" to show all Control Panel icons Click on "User Accounts." Make sure that the account used for installing the software is a full admin user. On this page, click on "Change User Account Control settings", a slider bar that starts with "Never notify" up to "Always notify" by default will be set to "Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer" Set it to "Never notify." This will disable all the admin blocks that pop up in installing and configuring software Once set, restart the PC and then continue with your software installation and configuration Once all is installed and working, the feature may be turned back on if required. Please note: this process may open the "Windows 10 Firewall up" For Windows Server 2012 and Windows 10, additional steps are required to disable User Account Control. Although the slider bar can be set to “Never Notify”, the User Account Control does not disable completely. The User Account Control can be disabled for any user by setting the system registry value “EnableLUA” to zero in the system registry under the registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system”. A Windows registration file has been included in the Continuum 2.01 release in order to expedite these additional steps. Or the attached file EnableLUA.zip can be used, unzip and execute.  Supplement: Using the right click "run as administrator" instead of this is not the same. The right click will only run that .exe as an administrator and not the whole install/configuration package, i.e. SQL2005 manager will fail to run if you do not do as instructed above. Cause SmartStruxure Lite Managers have full BACnet server capabilities, however BACnet client functionality is not native to the MPM and is currently only available through Lua programming. Resolution Integrating SmartStruxure Lite™ Managers with third-party BACnet server devices requires a BACnet client script. A sample script (download here) can be used to perform read and write operations to other devices via BACnet IP, however, a few tips and limitations must be taken into consideration before deployment on site. NOTE1: The delay at the beginning of the script (if scl.sysclock() > 90 then) must not be removed or modified. Otherwise, the MPM will keep rebooting endlessly and would require restoring its factory defaults before gaining access to Building Expert again. NOTE2 : The more points used in the script, The higher the MPMs CPU% Usage will be and the less responsive the MPM will be. Therefore, it is recommended to only read/write the necessary points and not all the points on the third party devices. Also, if some points are more important that others, the polling time can be increased to 60 seconds for example.   NOTE3: The more objects you have on the MPM, the less room you have for BACnet points. PGs, Trends and Events consume a substantial amount of CPU Usage so it is important to keep an eye on it as you add more points in the script.   NOTE4 : Run the script every 5 seconds or more if possible   Limitations: - Reading/Writing to Multi State Values (MSV) is not supported

Cause Unable to upload config.db to an MPM Resolution An MPM can be cloned from Building Expert by exporting default.db from one MPM and importing it to another (using the "Export Database" and "import Database" buttons) Note: Allow MPM a few minutes before attempting to access Building Expert. MPM will reboot automatically and install Database files. If it is necessary to clone the system configuration objects as well, refer to the procedure below: This procedure show you how to upload the Database to an MPM. To download a backup of the database, refer to MPM database information. Power up the MPM and ensure either its IP address can be pinged or Building Expert is accessible. In address bar of browser, enter 10.50.80.3/test.html. (assuming IP address of MPM is set to default) In Remote Path field of File Upload section, enter config.db. Click Browse and Navigate to the backup config.db file and select it. Click Submit Query. Wait for {“success”: true} to show before you proceed. Note: Uploading the config.db file first does not cause the MPM to reboot; which is why it is uploaded first On Browser, click to return to previous page. In Remote Path field of File Upload section, enter default.db. Click Browse and Navigate to the backup default.db file and select it. Click Submit Query. Wait for {“success”: true} to show before you proceed. Allow MPM a few minutes before attempting to access Building Expert. MPM will reboot automatically and install Database files. Note: MPM must not powered off during this time In address bar, enter 10.50.80.3 to connect to Building Expert and validate Database upgrade is correct.

Issue Under rare circumstances, resetting your Manager to its factory defaults may be necessary.  For example, if you have forgotten your Manager's IP address, or if you are experiencing login problems.  Environment SmartStruxure Lite Web Browser SmartStruxure Lite MPM Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. Cause All SmartStruxure Lite™ Managers are equipped with a bootloader, accessible via a special IP address that lets you access several Manager firmware functions, among them, a factory reset.  Resolution WARNING: Restoring your Manager to factory settings should only be performed as a last resort; doing so will erase all its objects and devices, requiring you to reconfigure your Manager from scratch. Accessing the Bootloader As its name suggests, you access the bootloader at boot time, i.e., when you power up your Manager. To perform a factory reset: 1. Disconnect electrical power from your Manager by unplugging its power connector or unplugging its power supply from the AC outlet. 2. Ensure that your computer's TCP/IP settings are on the same subnet as the bootloader IP address:10.50.80.X.     IMPORTANT: Upon restarting your Manager, you will have only a brief interval–approximately 5 seconds–during which you will be able to access the bootloader. As such, we recommend that you perform the following steps 3.  Open your browser and type the following IP address into the address bar, but do not click the browser's Go icon or press any  key on your keyboard: 10.50.80.2 4. Reconnect your Manager's electrical power. 5. Within approximately 5 seconds, click your browser's Go icon or press the key to navigate to the  bootloader's IP address.  The bootloader screen displays.    6. In the Restore factory defaults area, click Submit. The Manager begins restoring its settings to the factory defaults. When completed, a success message displays.  7. Restart your Manager by clicking the Submit button in the Restart system area. 8. You may now log in to the Manager using its restored IP address: 10.50.80.3. If you cannot connect successfully to the bootloader using the above steps, chances are you are not navigating to the bootloader's URL within the defined 5-second window.       As an aid, some users may find it useful to do the following:      Open a command window and type the following: ping 10.50.80.2     As soon as you see a ping reply, return to your browser window and press the key to navigate to the address previously entered into the address bar.   Restoring your Manager to Factory Settings download as PDF.

Issue Upgrading the MPMs firmware through the boot loader was unsuccessful. 10.50.80.2 is pingable, but not the default IP 10.50.80.3. The LED's keep blinking in tandem (alternating one after the other), even after having the MPM powered over 10 seconds. Cause This can be triggered by multiple events: - MPM was interrupted (powered off) while the firmware was still being upgraded. - Database does not exist; MPM was formatted and does not have firmware installed. - Database is corrupt (for any reason) Resolution It is strongly recommended that a firmware upgrade be done via the "File Manager" tab in Building Expert. However, if this is not possible, an upgrade can be performed through the bootloader using the following steps: 1 - At the top left part of the screen, make sure "Status" says "Connected". 2 - Format the SD card clicking on the "Submit" button next to "File System Format". "Format Done" will be displayed next to the button once the format has been completed 3 - Click on the "Browse" button and Navigate to the Firmware_update_V2.XX.bp" on your computer then click on "Submit Query". 4 - The previous step will upload the firmware file to the MPM's SD card. Once the file has been transferred, the following message will appear: or 5 - The MPM Must be kept powered-up for at least 15 minutes in order to allow the MPM some time to unpack the firmware file. The best way to determine whether the MPM is back online is to ping its IP address using a "Command Prompt" window. 6 - Once the MPM replies to the ping, Building Expert can be accessible though 10.50.80.3   If the above solution does not work; meaning that every time a new firmware is pushed to the MPM, the MPM keeps coming back to the bootloader, contact technical support

Cause Cloud Connectivity makes use of the Baltimore CyberTrust Root Certificate for communication to the cloud, and often this certificate is not updated due to lack of maintenance routines on the Windows Server. Resolution Run Windows Update: On the server running the ES/EC, run Windows Update and make sure the Operating System is updated to the latest maintenance version available. Manually update certificate:  On the server running the ES/EC, go to https://curl.se/docs/caextract.html using a web browser and follow the instructions to download a collection of the most commonly used certificates on the web that are up to date. Click on the start-menu, type in ”certmgr” and press enter. Navigate to Trusted Root Certification Authorities/Certificates Under Trusted Root Certification Authorities, right-click the Certificates folder and select ”All Tasks > Import…” Follow the guide, click ”Next” and then locate the file you downloaded in Step 2a (make sure you filter to All Files). Click ”Next” on all steps and then click ”Finish”.

Issue The MPM controller does not adjust the clock automatically when Daylight Saving Time (DST) period occurs. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment SmartStruxureLite Multi-Purpose Manage Cause DST settings in the MPM are configured for North America. Canada and United States: Daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November Europe: Daylight saving time begins on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October Resolution In Firmware 2.15, DST properties can be configured in the Controller Configuration Object (CFG1) and/or configuration page. DST start and end configuration on month, week, weekday, hour and offset can be set. If using a firmware version older than 2.15, a script can be used to correct the issue. Issue General use of the Wireshark program. Product Line Access Expert, Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Expert, EcoStruxure Building Operation, Pelco, Satchwell MicroNet, Satchwell Sigma, TAC IA Series, TAC INET, TAC Vista Environment Ethernet Networks Cause General Information on using WireShark. Resolution Wireshark is an Ethernet packet analysis programme, Which can be downloaded from: Latest version available from Wireshark Locally stored version 1.0.9 Installing Wireshark If necessary, unzip the WireShark executable file to a suitable location on the PC/Laptop you wish the programme to be installed on. Run the executable file and follow the on-screen instructions. Rules for capturing LAN traffic using Wireshark: Do not use a switch or router to connect the LAN capture PC to the network as these will filter important network activity that you will need to see. You will want to capture everything that is passing over the network at the point of concern. Usually, this means tapping into the ethernet at the Controller or controllers, that is having an issue. midBit-Technologies-LLC-10-100 is an example of a device that can be used to easily tap into the network to take the capture. The monitoring PC must see all traffic from the controller's point of view. The monitoring PC can be connected in either two ways: Connected to the network at the controller The customers IT department can mirror all the network traffic from the controllers port to another port the PC can be connected to. If connected to the network at the controllers, the connection must be made through a true ethernet hub. A hub will not selectively filter important network traffic as a switch or a router will do. More information on what a "true ethernet hub" can be found at http://wiki.wireshark.org/HubReference There are however some switches that feature port mirroring, please see How to Configure a NETGEAR Prosafe Plus Switch for Mirroring. If connected to a mirrored port, the port must mirror 100% of the network traffic to and from the controller. No filtering should be done. Once a complete capture file has been obtained it can be filtered after the fact using WireShark or EtherReal. Using Wireshark Run WireShark Start a trace by choosing the "Capture" menu and then select "Interfaces" Choose the appropriate interface. Generally, this can be identified by its IP Address, but if not, then the packets increasing are an indication. Press the "Start" button. The trace will start and will be similar to the following screenshot. After an appropriate time, the trace can be stopped by selecting "Capture" menu and "Stop" To save the capture file, choose "File" menu and "Save As".

Issue Will the Multi-Purpose Manager (MPM) act as a BACnet IP BBMD?   Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment Site using BACnet and one or more  SmartStruxe Lite Multi-Purpose Manager (SSL MPM)  Cause Can the MPM act as a BBMD Resolution The MPM cannot act as a BACnet Broadcast Management Device (BBMD), but it can be a foreign device to another BBMD BACnet protocol includes broadcast traffic which does not pass through on-site routers. For BACnet devices to network across a wide area or across multiple separate sites connected by the Internet, it is necessary to register the BACnet devices with a Schneider BBMD using the Foreign Device Registration function in Building Expert. For a Multi-Purpose Manager (MPM) running Building Expert to function as a BACnet device, when being managed remotely over a standard TCP/IP network, it must be configured as a Foreign Device. It must also be registered on an Automation Server (AS) on the remote network that acts as a BBMD. Once done, BACnet devices can send messages to the BBMD, which are translated by the BBMD so they can pass over a standard on-site router. Then BBMD forwards the messages to the appropriate destination MPM controlling the Devices for which the BACnet messages were originally intended. Then the MPM translates the messages received over the network from the BBMD into standard BACnet messages and passes them on to the intended Devices as if they were direct BACnet messages. This Foreign Device Registration feature allows a single user with a StruxureWare Building Operations (StruxureWare Building Operation) terminal to remotely oversee multiple disparate sites simultaneously using BACnet, without having to install expensive direct connections to each site. You must have Firmware release version 2.9 or higher installed on your Manager to use Foreign Device Registration function. Issue What NEMA or IP rating is a specific product? Environment All devices Cause Is a product protected against water and access by foreign objects? Resolution The Degrees Of Protection document details both the IP rating and NEMA Enclosure charts. The IP rating is made up of 2 digits, the first is the level of protection to foreign objects, the second is the level of protection to water. If a product does not specify any rating for water ingress in it's datasheet then the the second digit will be 0. The first digit relates to the size of a foreign object that can be inserted into the product. Typically many Buildings products will not allow the insertion of a finger (12.5mm approx' 1/2") and offer no water protection, so they would be rated as IP20, however it would be IP10 should they have holes of up to 50mm (approx' 2").

Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment SmartStruxure Lite Multi-Purpose Manager (MPM) 2.4.3 and above Lua program Cause All data points collected by a TL object are saved in a text file stored on the SmartStruxure™ Lite Manager SD memory card (which has a storage capacity of 2 GB). This file is accessible at [ipaddress]/root/data/trend.csv. The trend.csv file contains the log of all TL objects on a SmartStruxure™ Lite Manager. It logs new data until it reaches a size of ~10 MB, when it will be renamed trend_date.csv for backup. A new trend.csv file will be created to record the new data.  In the context of your application, it may be of interest to retrieve the trend.csv file from the SmartStruxure™ Lite Manager for analysis.   It is also important to remove these excess trend files since there is a risk of filling the SD card on the Manager. Resolution The simplest way to automate this process is to use a Lua script to initiate a FTP file transfer to an FTP server on an event of your choice. The example shown in the application note below, the file transfer is initiated by a SmartStruxure™ Lite scheduler. Once the file is transferred to the FTP server, you can rename the file to create a backup. Data collection will then continue in a new and empty trend.csv file. This way, any new transfer of the trend.csv file to the FTP server will be a complement of the preceding file. This application note discusses the management of the trend files stored on the SmartStruxure™ Lite Manager flash memory, and provides examples and guidelines for the FTP transfer of these files. Issue The PID controller object provided as part of the MPM software does not allow for any means of programmatic override i.e. forcing the loop output to 0%, 100% or other user defined position.  If you force the referenced Manipulated Variable (output) to a particular position by programmatically disconnecting it from the PID object, there can be a large overshoot when the PID output is reconnected.   Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment SmartStruxure Lite Multi-Purpose Manager (MPM) Cause If you force the referenced Manipulated Variable (output) to a particular position by programmatically disconnecting it from the PID object,  the PID controller will be 'open loop' and any integral parameter will wind up the output to its max or min position.  This can cause a large overshoot when the PID output is reconnected.   Resolution One option is to write a Lua script that forces the Controlled Variable and the Setpoint Reference to receive the same value when you override the loop output. This would freeze the output of the PID controller and prevent any integral wind up. There would still be a 'bump' when you remove the override, but it should be reduced.   Another option is to replace the PID controller object with a Lua script that provides the same the same functionality but with the addition of an override mode.
