MSDE and the install of I/NET Seven and Vista 4.3.1 version software.

Issue MSDE and the install of I/NET Seven and Vista 4.3.1 version software. Environment Single computer with both I/NET Seven and Vista software. Cause MSDE and instance Resolution MSDE does not allow an unnamed instance to overwrite a named instance of MSDE. I/NET Seven MSDE installs at this time an "Un-Named" instance. Vista 4.3.1 installs a "Named" instance. The work around: Install I/NET Seven first then install Vista 4.3.1. This will be corrected in future release of I/NET Seven.

Equalization / Reports are not working after loading rev 2.10 on a New PC

Issue Loaded I/NET Seven revision 2.10 for the first time on a PC and reports come up with an error that "Server has not yet been opened" Environment I/NET site Cause Loaded I/NET Seven revision 2.10 for the first time on a PC and reports come up with an error that "Server has not yet been opened" Resolution There are a couple of items that needs to be checked to get this working again and there is a workaround to it as well. First, check these items: Verify that TCP/IP is checked in the Active profile in I/O Server Configuration. Using Windows Explorer, open C/Program Files/MSSQL Server/80/Tools/Binn/SVRNETCN.exe, double click and verify that the TCP/IP is listed in the Named Pipes in the Enabled Protocols window. If it is not, then please enable it by selecting the Enable button; this moves it over to the other column. Now restart I/Net and try the reports again, they should be working now. The work around to this is to install an older version of I/NET, version 2.01 or 2.02 first on the PC and then upgrade to 2.10. Do remember that you would have to Un-install/Re-install MSDE again. When prompted to upgrade to Service Pack 4, select the Yes Option. Once this is done and the upgrade is complete, start I/NET and try running Seven Reports again.

Error: "Error: Device does not refer to a COM port" when trying to download an application to a Xenta controller.

Issue Error: "Error: Device does not refer to a COM port" when trying to download an application to a Xenta controller. Environment Vista Workstation LNS Network Cause This message is generated when the LonWorks network in the Vista database does not have a COM port (LNS port) defined. The problem occurs when Vista database has been "updated" with a second LNS database and is added to an existing database creates two LNS databases with only one communication port. The communication port in the Vista database can only be associated with a single LNS database. If trying to communicate to the first LNS database there will not be a communication port to use. Resolution Remove all objects added to the Vista database from the second LNS database Edit the properties for your existing LonWorks network. Browse the LNS port back into the "LTA Port" field. Using Vista Server Setup, create a new Vista database directory. Utilize the new database for your second LNS database. Note: Use a unique LNS database with each Vista database. Projects with multiple LNS databases must have a LTA, iLon, or L-IP configured for each LNS database.

Powering DPU's / SCU's with DC Power

Issue Requirement to powering DPU’s / SCU's with DC Power Environment DPU 7900 Series; 7910, 7920, 7930 and 7940 SCU 1200 Series; 1284, 1280 and 1200 Cause The majority of times that a user powers up a DPU / SCU is usually with 24V AC. However, DC power can also be used as an alternate. Resolution Series 7900 DPU's: The wiring to this can be two fold, it can be done just like the AC with pins 1 and 2 to power from the XFMR. However by doing it this way, the full 24V will be not be delivered to the unit. The recommended way to do this would be to hook either wire 1 to Power and wire 2 to ground or wire 2 to power and wire 1 to ground. This way you will get the full 24V delivered to the unit. SCU 1200 Series: For these units you would connect the +24V positive lead to TB1-1 and the negative lead to TB1-3 (which also must be connected to earth ground). Assuming you have sufficient 24Vdc current supplied, all the reader supply current output ratings would apply. The same local 24VDC source could be connected to more than one SCU in the same enclosure.

Product Line OTHER, TAC INET Environment ID Works I/NET Seven Cause Enter data properly to avoid losing data or having to redo personnel entry. Resolution Log into the ID Works Program Default user name is lowercase admin Default password is lowercase admin Choose the badge project for the card you are going to print. If you do not see the Project in the window area, select the "More Projects" button to see the complete list of projects. Once you choose the project, a window will pop up for you to log into the ID Works Project. You have a choice on how to log in. You can either choose to check the box next to "Use Trusted Connection" or under the "INetThirdParty" Login ID the password is lower case passinetdb3p. Typically, select the “Trusted Connection” option. This is a view of the Sample project that is on the I/NET Seven CD under the "Support" file folder on the CD. Once you verify that the correct blanks are in the printer, and then depress the Printer ICON with the mouse. Printing the badge will also save the information in the I/NET Seven system and the ID Works system. There is NO need to save the info first, and then print the badge. Now that you still have the information in the Production Form on the Screen, DO NOT choose the RED X on the Top ICON Task Bar to clear the page. If by accident you do choose the RED X, you will get the following pop up window. DO NOT CHOOSE the YES BUTTON, if you do, you WILL DELETE ALL THE INFORMATION AND PHOTO you just entered in the I/NET Seven System and the ID Works system. If you find yourself in this situation, you NEED TO CHOOSE the NO BUTTON, doing this choice WILL NOT DESTROY ANY DATA. VisiSat 2.1 project upgrade program

Issue VisiSat 2.1 project upgrade program Environment VisiSat 2.1 Cause The VisiSat 2.1 upgrade program supplied with VisiSat 2.0 and 2.1, is to upgrade projects originally created in VisiSat 1.1 or 1.2 to the VisiSat 2.* format. VisiSat version 1.* stored all project information under the main project folder. VisiSat 2.* stores all project information and controller configurations under a folder "VisiSat" under the project folder. Resolution Projects must be upgraded and import if originally created in VisiSat 1.*. DO NOT just copy VisiSat 1.* files into a folder named VisiSat under your project folder, then run it in VisiSat 2.*. You will experience problems with your project if this is done. Note: The way VisiSat 2.* stores and accesses the point information is completely different to VisiSat 1.*.

Issue Is there a limit to the number of BACnet objects programmed into a MNB controller? Environment MNB Cause There are two limits to keep in mind.   Resolution The first limit is the memory range of the controller.  Each object type has a specific memory size that it consumes when it is loaded in a controller. The WorkPlace Tech Tool 5.x Engineering Guide Supplement provides memory ranges for each BACnet object. The second thing to consider is the BACnet Instance Number ranges available to each type of object. MNB controllers have a fixed number of available Instance Numbers for each object type.   Refer to the Workplace Tech Tool 5.x Engineering Guide Supplement for each of these ranges.
