The File or Directory \VISTA DB\$queues\insertevents is corrupt and unreadable

Issue Error Messages: Windows - Delayed Write Failed Windows was unable to save all the data for the file D:\VISTA DB _23032011\$queues\insertevents. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere. Windows - Corrupt File The file or directory \VISTA DB _23032011\$queues\insertevents is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility. Product Line TAC Vista Environment TAC Vista Cause Problem with Operating System (or) Hard Disk Fault (or) Link between $queues with Vista Database. Resolution As there may be several issues that are causing this, there are three options to look at: OPTION 1: Restore the OLD TAC Vista Data Base Backup. Refer to TAC Vista Technical Manual chapter 26 for re-storing database procedure.   OPTION 2: There might be a linking problem with this folder and Vista.  Here are the steps to check if this is the problem: If the problem still exists, Check for hard disk errors. Find the $queues - folder in existing database folder ( \DB\$queues) Copy the files to an other location and delete current folder (Refer to An efficient method for deleting all queued files in the $queues folder) Recreate it with same folder names and copy back the files into $queues-folder. If the problem still exists, Check for hard disk errors.   OPTION 3: Check for hard disk errors, follow the below procedure: Go to "My Computer", Right click on Hard Disk Drive – typically - C, and Click on Properties. Go to Option "Tools" and Click on "Check Now" under "Error-Checking"

In Niagara G3, the Application Director for the localhost does not display some stations which exist in folders on the hard drive.

Issue The platform daemon for the localhost displays this error: ERROR   [09:21:09 28-Jun-2011] [tid=712] app registry: app svr_station NOT created, maximum app limit reached All of these stations were part of a migration from one version of G3 to another.  All the station folders were copied and pasted prior to starting Workbench. Environment Niagara G3 version 3.5 and older Cause More than 32 stations are not supported on any G3 platform (3.5 and older).  This is not a license restriction. The 32 station limit applies to the number of station folders on the hard drive under the release directory.  This is only a constraint for engineering the stations.  In Release 3.6, 3.7 & 3.8, the limit is  in excess of 150 "station" folders. Resolution If one computer (running Workbench) is being used to engineer more than 32 stations, then some of the station folders will have to be cut / pasted back and forth with some other temporary folder on the hard drive. Example: A job will have 35 total stations when complete.  In order to engineer them from one computer, 3 station folders will have to be cut out from beneath the parent "stations" folder and put in a temporary folder elsewhere on the hard drive. When there is a need to engineer one of the three cut stations, use Windows Explorer to move it back into the Niagara "stations" folder and remove some other station folder.  Always maintain 32 sub-folders under the "stations" folder. In Release 3.6, 3.7 & 3.8, the limit is  in excess of 150 "station" folders.

Event time stamps in SQL database do not match those viewed in Vista

Issue When a SQL query is run on taclogdata to view events or trend logs, the time stamps returned differ by an hour or more from the those of the same events when viewed in Vista. Environment TAC Vista 4.3 and higher MS SQL Server Cause All time stamps are stored in taclogdata as UTC (Universal Coordinated Time) regardless of your local time zone and DST (Daylight Saving Time) settings. When you view events or trend logs in Vista, the Time Zone and DST settings of your Workstation are added to the UTC time so that you see time stamps synchronized with your local time. This does not occur when a SQL query is run directly on taclogdata. Resolution If you need to query the Vista SQL database directly, you could use the DATEADD function to calculate your local time from the UTC values, e.g. in SQL Server Management Studio run the following query to show the EventId, UTC time and local time for all events that occurred in the last 24 hours. USE taclogdata; SELECT EventId, EventDatetime, DATEADD(hour, datediff(hour, getutcdate(), getdate()), EventDatetime) AS LocalTime FROM Event WHERE EventDatetime > DATEADD(day, -1, GETUTCDATE()) Please note:  DATEADD adds a fixed offset to the input time.  It does not compensate for start and end dates of DST.

Issue Getting the message “Cannot display page” and “Access Denied: Remote host does not accept brand “Webs”” while trying to access the Platform of an ENC-520 with Niagara G3 WorkBench. Environment G3 Niagara all version, ENC-410, ENC-520 Cause Honeywell WEBs (Honeywell’s version of Ax) on the same PC as Niagara G3. WEBS was installed and licensed first. G3 was installed after WEBs, but never licensed. Since a license for G3 was never obtained, G3 was attempting to use the Honeywell license to connect to the ENC-520. STR-250 functionality on Micro Regulators (MR).

Issue Does the STR-250 work on Micro Regulators (MR)? Environment I/NET Seven STR-250, I/STAT, M/STAT I/SITE Controller and Micro Regulators (MR) Cause The STR-250 Wall Module is the replacement for the commonly referred to I/STAT sensor, still referenced in I/NET documentation.  The I/STAT is no longer available.  Resolution The STR-250 sensor is the replacement for the I/NET I/STAT, so installation and configuration for the STR-250 is as per this I/STAT. There are two documents that will provide assistance with this TCON126 and TCON299 (Chapter 21). The STR-250 full functionality must be installed on the I/STAT port of any I/NET device and configured as detailed in the above documents. Only one I/STAT port exists per MR. The M/STAT is still available and is used as the hardware tool for configuring the controller settings on all supported I/STAT devices, such as, all Micro Regulators (MR) variants, I/Site LAN Controller (Model 7728) and Xenta 102-AX.

Actual measured voltage of 0-10V analog input of UI-8-10V module with dip switch set to 10V range

Issue When using the UI-8-10V for 0-10V analog input, the ElecValue of the input shows the half of the actually applied voltage. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment NetController: CX9900 , CX9940 , CX9680 IOU: UI8-10V (UI-8-10V) Cause UI8's 10V dip switch functions as the voltage divider. Resolution As the UI8's 10V dip switch functions as the voltage divider, it halves the 10V input voltage into 5V and uses it as the measured input. So, the ElecValue of the input shows the half of the actual input voltage. Note: When the input is configured for 10V operation, the input impedance is 4.4kΩs. Therefore, the sensor used would have to be able to source as much as 2.3mA. If input impedance is an issue for the sensor, then select the 5V input switch setting and use external resistors as detailed in How to use a 0-10V Sensor on a controller with 5V inputs.

Cannot backup UNC station - getting an error "java.net.ConnectException".

Issue Cannot do a Save Runtime DB. - getting the following error:     java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect      at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Native Method)     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.doConnect(Unknown Source)     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connectToAddress(Unknown Source)     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source)     at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source)     at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source)     at java.net.Socket. Resolution If this is the case, a line must be added to the station.properties file to specify the new port value. Open the Admin Tool and log into the UNC (not the station database). Right-click on the station name that indicates "running" and select Edit > Properties. The station.properties window will open (typically indicates autoStart=true and autoRestart=true). Add a line to this file that specifies the new port. Example: If the station database was configured to use port 8080, the line would read ... httpPort=8080 Choose File > Close and save when prompted. Reboot the UNC for change to take place   You should now be able to successfully backup the database. The details of this procedure are located in the documentation (Niagara Networking and Connectivity Guide).
