Sigma - Global communications, what happens to the controllers if the network fails?

Issue What happens to Sigma globals if the network fails? Environment Globals Communications Networks Cause Site is to have a planned network shutdown, how will the Sigma controllers react to this? Resolution The Sigma controller using the global update, will continue to operate normally, but will use the last value received, so any changes will not be responded to. If the Sigma controller controls critical plant then the loss of global communications should be taken into account when programming.

Fan Conditioning on a Xenta 121

Issue Fan is activating though it is not commanded. Environment Zbuilder Xenta 121FC Xenta 121HP Cause Fan Conditioning is Active. Conditioning can be used to "stir" the air periodically, evening the temperature when the system is not commanded or forced off. Resolution Active fan Conditioning is determined by settings for Inactive time and Active time. (UCPTappOptions bit 8, Active=1) Inactive time - Maximum interval in minutes before the fan is activated, if not used during. Standstill time between Conditioning.(UCPTFanCondOffTime) Active time - Time in minutes that the fan runs at minimum speed during Conditioning.(UCPTFanCondOnTime) If the Fan Conditioning is active, the fan state will be monitored for activity during the specified Inactive time and turned on when Inactive time has passed. The fan will stay on for the specified Active time until reached then turn off, which begins the Inactive time monitoring again. If the fan is called for during the Inactive time before reaching the Inactive time, the Inactive time is started over when the fan is released.

What's the best way to restore a full SIGNAL database from version 4.4.1 (Windows 95/98) to version 5.0.0 (Windows XP)?

Issue Customer did a full backup of a SIGNAL 4.4.1 installation.  A full backup is data, bitmaps, and executable files.  The computer hardware was replaced along with the operating system to Windows XP 32-bit.  The customer has SIGNAL version 5.0.0. Environment SIGNAL Cause Computer hardware replacement Resolution There are a couple of ways to restore the database.  Here is a simple method: - Install SIGNAL 5.0.0 - Restore the full backup from version 4.4.1 (this step overwrites all the executable files of 5.0.0) - Re-install SIGNAL 5.0.0 (this last step will update all the executables back to version 5.0.0) The license file, signal.dcf, may need to be checked to ensure it is for version 5.0.0.

Information on how the MNB-Vx determines damper position after a power cycle.

Issue Information on how the MNB-Vx determines damper position after a power cycle. Environment MNB-V1 and MNB-V2 Cause Understanding damper behavior after a power cycle Resolution After a power cycle, the damper does not know exactly where it is and it is NOT stored in non-volatile memory. So, it must drive open or drive closed to re-synch the hall effect sensors embedded in one of the gears that provides positional feedback. There are two Hall-Effect sensors that detect a magnet, embedded in one of the drive gears, as it spins. Each sensor sends a pulse to an internal counter each time it detects the passing magnet. The two Hall-Effect sensors help with identifying clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation. The accumulated pulse count and the gear ratio help in calculating the damper position. Right-click the VAV Actuator object in WorkPlace Tech and go to its Properties, there is a setting called 'Position Initialization Mode'. Select open or closed as the choice when initializing after a power cycle.

Are MA-223 Fire and Smoke Damper Actuators still available?

Issue Do we have a replacement for the Fire Rated Damper Actuator: Make: Siebe Environmental Controls Part No: MA – 223   Environment Fire Rated Smoke actuators MA-223-0-2 Cause Siebe Fire/ Smoke rated damper actuators are all obsolete. Resolution Schneider Electric no longer manufacture any fire and smoke actuators so the MA-223 range are obsolete with no replacement. The only suggestion we can offer is for the customer to contact the damper manufacturer that this actuator is mounted on and see what they would use to replace the actuator. We only sold these fire/smoke rated actuators directly to the damper manufacturers.

Netcontroller IO Module Bus Voltages

Issue What are the expected voltages on the RS485 IO Module bus? Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Netcontroller IO Modules IOU Modules Cause Require typical values for troubleshooting first steps. Resolution Although the IO Module bus uses RS485 comms similar to Infinet or BACnet MSTP, the typical bus voltages when measured with a voltmeter are usually lower. Exact voltages will vary from system to system and depend on the amount of bus activity at the time, but the following will allow general troubleshooting: Typical DC voltage measured across the bus + to - = 0.7 to 0.8VDC but working systems may read as low as 0.4VDC Typical DC voltage measured Screen (shield) to + = 0.6 VDC Typical DC voltage measured Screen (shield) to - = 1.3VDC Note: If using Free Topology (FTT-10A) controller and modules, these use transformer bus coupling and will measure 0VDC across the bus.

Sigma - Can the Alarm Manager on a Remote client be configured differently, to the Local client.

Issue Alarm Manager configuration. Environment Alarm Manager Configuration Cause A different configuration of alarms is required on a Remote Sigma client. Resolution The Alarm Manager is shared by both the local and remote Sigma clients, therefore any changes in configuration effect both clients. If there is a requirement to send different alarms to the local and remote Sigma clients, then this is achieved using Routesets, which are allocated to the individual object alarms.
