Email alarm redundancy on the AS and ES and their interaction

Issue Email alarms can be configured in the AS and ES and understanding that interaction is needed Environment SmartStruxure Windows 7 Windows Server 2008 Cause There is a need to know what happens when creating email alarms in the AS and ES Resolution The server (AS or ES) that has the email notification object will send the email. So if you want to be sure that the AS alarms still send emails even if the ES is offline, then you should have email notifications configured on the AS and not rely on a global email notification on the ES. If notifications are configured on both the ES and AS which triggers on the same alarm, then two emails will be sent. One when its triggered on the AS and one when the ES fetches the alarm from the AS. You may be able to manage the triggering of the AS alarm by a program that checks the online status or alarm indication of the ES being offline.

How to swap two infinet controller on the same system.

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue What is the proper procedure to use when swapping two previously installed Infinet controllers on the same Continuum network. Environment ACCID Infinet Controllers Cause Must prove determine whether an Infinet Controllers flow sensor is damaged. Resolution It is important to recommission Infinet controllers before relocating them in the same system. Recommissioning the Infinet controller purges all object handles and ensures that the controller will be brought on line virtually as a new "out of the box" controller. Infinet controllers are recommissioned by setting the InfinetID to 0 using a RoamIO. Using a RoamIO, set the InfinetID of both Infinet controllers to zero. Verify that the controllers InfinetID has been set to 0. With the workstation in OffLine mode, change the serial number of each controllers to a fictional serial number that does not exist in Continuum. Remove both controllers and install them in place of each other with out powering the controller. Before the controllers are powered, connect them to the Infinet bus while the bus is connected to the infinet port. Switch the workstation to Online Mode. Power up the controllers. Enter the correct serial number for each controller in the controller editor. Both controllers should come online. Reload both controllers.

Sigma low level alarm - Operlist.txt file missing

Issue 'Operlist.txt file missing' alarms are seen in the Sigma Alarm Manager. Operlist.txt files have been downloaded to the controllers and the controller's contents show that the operlist.txt file exist.  Environment Sigma 4.07 build 3.45.48 (upgraded from BAS2800+ or Sigma versions prior to 4.04) Cause The operlist.txt file is required for Sigma controllers. Starting from Sigma 4.04, the Sigma controllers uses a dummy operlist.txt file. There is no longer the need to create this file manually. The Sigma server automatically creates a suitable dummy operlist.txt file for downloading to the controller. However, if an operlist.txt file exists in the controller / outstation folder, then that file will be sent to the controller and not the dummy one. In this case, the existing operlist.txt files still exists in the controller / outstation folders.  Resolution Delete the existing operlist.txt files from the controllers / outstation folders. A quick way to do this is to use the Windows Search function to search for the file name 'operlist.txt' inside the C:\Sigma\Data folder and delete all the files together.    In Sigma System Diagnostics, download the operlist.txt file to all controllers. A dummy operlist.txt file will be created in each controller / outstation folder and the file will be downloaded to the controller.

Will a jace-645 run a R2 station more efficiently than a UNC-520?

Issue A UNC-520 is installed at a jobsite and has been programmed over the years with additional controllers and graphics.  The resource count is now over 600,000.  The CPU idle time does not rise any higher than 3-4%.  Since the jace-645 is a more updated (i.e. powerful) hardware platform, will it run this large R2 station more efficiently? Environment Niagara R2 jace-645 Cause Site UNC-520 can no longer run its installed station efficiently Resolution Tridium tested the jace-645 and rated it capable of running a 600,000 resource-sized station.  It was not tested for anything larger. Installing and running a larger R2 station is not recommended.
