Error "Baudrate on MSTP side not found Proceed anyway?" when connecting to MSTP with RoamIO

Issue Getting error “Baudrate on MSTP side not found Proceed anyway?” when trying to connect to MSTP with RoamIO Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment MSTP BACnet Cause Before the RoamIO can start communicating on the MSTP bus it must first determine the baud rate of the network, it does this by listening to the traffic on the network until is able to determine the baud. If there is no traffic on the network the RoamIO will not be able to detect the baud. Possible causes: If the RoamIO is directly connected to a device that does not have a valid mac id (such as a brand new b3 from the factory which has a slave mac id). The cable used to connect the RoamIO to the MSTP network is the wrong one. Resolution Possible solutions: Make sure at least ONE of the devices on the MSTP has a valid MAC ID. Make sure the cable used to connect the RoamIO to the MSTP network is correct. Note that even though the cable that ships with the RoamIO looks the same as the cable used on a telephone handset, it has a different pinout. The RoamIO cable is a straight thru cable while the telephone cable is NOT. Here is what the RoamIO cable pinout looks like:

Does the Valve & Actuator Selection Tool work on Windows 8?

Issue Does the Valve & Actuator Selection Tool work on Windows 8? Environment Valve, Actuators Cause Current desktop, laptop, and tablets are installed with Windows 8 Resolution Until a newer version is released, the following work-around will allow the Tool to operate in a Windows 8 environment: To install, the program will need to detect .Net 2.0.  To do that, ensure some .Net features are on.  Internet access is required.   1.  Go to Control Panel - Programs - Programs and Features and in the upper left will be a link to "Turn Windows Features on or off"  -  click that. 2.  From the Windows Features Screen, make sure there are check boxes next to .Net Framework 3.5 and the two boxes below it as shown here: 3.  Restart Windows and then install the Valve & Actuator Selection Tool 4.  Turn off User Access Controls in Windows.  Go to User Accounts and Family Safety (Control Panel) - User Accounts  - click the link to "Change User Account Control Settings".  In the dialog that follows - move the slider to the bottom (Never Notify) 5.  Right-click on the Valve & Selection Tool icon on your desktop (from the installation in step 3) and choose "properties". 6.  On the Compatibility Tab - check the box to run the program in Windows 7 compatibility mode and the box to run the program as administrator. 7.  Run the Valve & Selection Tool program.

"Login Failed - Could not connect to fox server. Check that fox and web SSL settings match or try connecting using https."

Issue Getting error message: “Login Failed - Could not connect to fox server. Check that fox and web SSL settings match or try connecting using https.” when trying to connect to G3 station via a web browser. Product Line TAC IA Series Environment In Niagara G3, Version 3.7.106 Cause Security setting for the Web browser and Fox Service do not match, or the FOX or FOXS port is being blocked. In Niagara G3, Version 3.7 and later, users can set up SSL for both HTTP and FOX connections. The intention is that, when using the applet, SSL settings for HTTP and FOX must match (i.e. HTTPS/FOX or HTTP/FOXS are not allowed). In Niagara G3 3.7 update1 and earlier, users can connect to the applet using the invalid HTTPS/FOX combination. In addition, when loading the applet while using HTTP/FOXS, users are redirected back to the login screen with no error message. In NiagaraAX 3.7 update2 and later, users attempting to use the applet with an invalid HTTPS/FOX or HTTP/FOXS connection will be redirected to the login screen. An error message will appear indicating what went wrong. The Web and Fox settings do not match. They must be set to either HTTP/FOX or HTTPS/FOXS. We’ve found that there is a condition where the error message still displays even though both Fox Service and HTTP match. Reason being is during login to a station via web browser, a check is performed to determine if the Fox Service match the HTTP setting be used. If accessing via HTTP, then port 1911 (FOX) is checked. If accessing via HTTPS, then port 4911 (FOXS) is checked. We found that the corresponding, FOX or FOXS, port were not opened.  Resolution Open the needed FOX or FOXs port: Depending on if HTTP or HTTPS is used, the correct port must be opened for the corresponding FOX or FOXS connection. Port 1911 needs to be open if using HTTP/FOX connections, and if using HTTPS/FOXS, port 4911 needs to be open. Port need to be open to bidirectional TCP traffic.

Testing SNMP alarms

Issue There is no full end to end description on how to test SNMP alarms in SmartStruxure 1.6.1 and later Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SNMP Alarms Cause Only a guide on how to create the SNMP alarms is available, but there is no guide available on how to test them. For general information regarding SNMP traps, refer to the following Web Help links: Versions 1.6 and 1.7 SNMP Notification Properties Create SNMP Notification Wizard – SNMP Notification Page SNMP Notification View Version 1.8 and later SNMP Notification Distribution Method Create Notification Wizard - Configure SNMP Page Resolution Download and install "MIB Browser" from iReasoning Download the mib file for SmartStruxure Load the SmartStruxure mib file into the MIB Browser through "File"-->"Load MIBs", and select the SmartStruxure mib file Create a simple alarm in SmartStruxure and make it trigger on a digital point Create a SNMP notification with the following settings. To get to the conditions/filter, open (double click on it or hit enter) the SNMP notification. Only showing the properties of it will not show the filter settings. "Address" is the address of the SNMP manager that receives the SNMP notification, in this test "localhost" since the SNMP manager is installed locally. "User name" is the user name of the user on the SNMP manager that receives the notification. In filter settings, select normal and alarm state, and add "Source server = *" as a condition In the MIB browser, select "Tools"-->"Trap Receiver" Trigger the alarm in SmartStruxure An alarm will now be seen in the MIB browsers trap receiver window

SNVT show strange icon or symbol when XIF is imported in XBuilder

Issue When a XIF file is imported in XBuilder, one or more SNVT's show a strange icon rather than the input or output symbol and even though the SNVT is supported. Environment XBuilder XIF SNVT Cause TAC XBuilder doesn't support multi line self documentation string for SNVT's Resolution [1] Edit the XIF file with a clear text editor such as notepad, notepad++ or jEdit [2] Locate the SNVT name(s) that has the issue (e.g. "VAR nviMode") [3] Delete all lines in the self documentation except from the first (Don't just place all the text on one line, as there is a max for characters on each line)       [4] Import the XIF file again

Alarm list texts in Webstation are too small with too much space between cells

Issue On large screens, the alarm texts in the alarm list can be too small to easily read. Product Line TAC Vista Environment Webstation Cause Depending on the resolution, the size of texts will seem larger or smaller. Also, though the text is actually the same as the size used in Workstation, it seems that Workstation represents the text in a clearer way. Resolution All styling of Webstation is done with style sheets (CSS files) and can be changed at your own risk. PSS does not support changing these files. Browse to the styles folder (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\TACVistaWeb519\Style\Default) where "519" in this case is the version of Vista installed, and "Default" is the style selected in Webstation Settings. Make a copy of the file "AlarmListPage.css" and store it in a safe location. Edit the file "AlarmListPage.css" with e.g. notepad or another clear text editor (don't use MS Word or similar) Here are two different style options. You can make your own. To change the font size for everything in the alarm list, go to row 16 and change "x-small" to "small" To only change alarm text rows but leave the title size, go to line 54, and add an extra line here "font-size small;" To reduce the space between the actual texts in the alarm list and the cell borders, change line 51 to 0px and line 52 to 1px Save the file, and reload the page. You might need to manually chose to reload the web page, for the change to actually go through Examples Original All texts set to "small" Only alarm text rows set to small, and spacing lowered

Export special does not save output bindings

Issue After performing an Export special of an object in SmartStruxure and then importing it into a database, the output bindings of the object are no longer there. Environment Export and Import Workstation Automation Server Enterprise Server Cause Performing an export special and then importing that xml file into another database or the same database after the object has been deleted will no longer have the output bindings of that object. Resolution This behavior functions as designed. See Section 20.31 of the StruxureWare Building Operation: Technical Reference Guide. The documentation states that: "Objects or properties with bindings where the bound objects are in separate import files. To preserve bindings during an import, import the references objects to the targeted server prior to importing the actual objects or programs that refer to these objects. For example, import any referenced I/O points before importing the programs that read and write the I/O points. No matter what order of import is used, the import process will restore the bindings if they are valid at the time of import."
